Amazon Prime's TV series Astrid is good, about to disappear from Prime. 9 episodes of season one there. The only chance to see it with English subtitles, the DVDs are pure French.

Its a bit strange to have an ability to penetrate multiple linguistic worlds with little effort. I have to keep in mind that most don't. I can read Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese quite well. I have a problem understanding spoken French and Portuguese, but I figure thats just a matter of practice. Dont ask me to speak French Portuguese and Italian, I would need a great deal of practice. All I can suggest is to learn Spanish, it is the easiest to learn by far for a US person, and it is a useful, partial key to all other Romance languages.

I'm always looking for a good show to watch so I started the first episode and it looked very familiar. I've been watching "Patience" on PBS and it appears to be a remake of "Astrid", but British and based in York.

I thought the Swedish/Danish Bridge was very good. Some critics wondered if Sweden and Denmark were really that different, but it was the freshness of the the rivalry (for us) and the freshness of the concept that made the show worth watching. I didn't bother with the Anglo-French tunnel and didn't care for the US-Mexican Bridge. Americans were a little maligned by the way that the German actress playing the autistic detective was supposed to represent the US, rather than Germany.
Still waiting for an explanation, botfly. Tell us what the lies are.
