"He has never been in a relationship, he said, and hopes Revenge on Gold Diggers could teach men like him how to behave in love. After graduating from college, [he] worked briefly in an electronics assembly factory and as a phone service salesman. He quit both jobs because of health reasons and boredom, he said, and spends most of his time online.... [He] said that his opinions about women and feminism were shaped by social media, and that he sometimes regretted and deleted some of his harsh comments. But other times he can’t help but fight with women online, he said. Like many of his peers, [he] sees himself as doubly oppressed, both by women and by the government. 'The Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government now inhabit a different world from ours. They are blind to our real situation,' he said...."

There are 112 males to every 100 females in China- a consequence of the 1-child policy caused selective destruction of females before or immediately after birth. The ratio is almost certainly worse if you just measure those under the age of 40. This sort of demographic imbalance can cause serious problems.
Feminism, masculinisn, racism, social progressivism, etc... DEIsm. #HateLovesAbortion
The CCP legalized prostitution to mitigate catastrophic anthropogenic social progress in the woke of planned parenthood by State's Choice. Did it help or hurt the ethical perception of the unPlanned female sex survivors? Mother Nature is not amused.
Would love to see a Joe Rogan podcast with Chongqing and rhhardin.
The CCP - not much different than the American Corrupt Democrat party.
What Yancey said. Historically, the solution to this sort of problem is invading neighbors.
There's tons of "leftover women" (剩女) in China that, but the lad is right that many of them are leftover because they turned down everyone who didn't own a BMW.
"守株待兔"女士们, YMMV.
Besides the gender imbalance in the population, it's a fact that wealthy Chinese men usually have one or two mistresses and that further aggravates the situation. This is bound to cause some bitterness among the have-nots but it's not fair to blame this on women. It's just part of the general inequity of life on earth..... The Chinese government should launch a crash program to develop sex-bots for the have-nots. The technology is there. It just has to be applied. A chicken in every pot and a bot for every man.
@Yancey, paraphrasing a Brookings strategic economic analysis I perused many years ago, "China's demographic imbalance presents a problem historically familiar to the Middle Kingdom. A large cohort of disenfranchised male youth is not an economic problem, it's an army."
If women have more power, it's because there are so few of them after the 1-child policy infanticides. If he wants to be the lucky guy who gets one, then he needs to stop worrying about gold diggers and start earning some gold.

When you put it like that, it not a problem a little invasion of Taiwan can’t solve.
A large part of the college administration's going after males on campus was driven by the realitfythat with more women than men on campus, guys were setting the dating rules, and so girls who wanted dates had to "put out" even when they didn't want to. So they tried to rectify the situation with rules focused at taking away male power.
China has the reverse population issue, so the reverse power imbalance: the women who were oppressed were oppressed by being murdered in the womb (aka abortion). The ones who survived that gauntlet now have the power. So males in China can either:
1: Be gay
2: Make enough to afford prostitutes
3: Make enough to afford foreign travel
4: Make enough to attract a girlfriend / wife
5: Give up on getting laid
Who knows, maybe China will change its marriage laws and allow 2+ men to marry a single woman. IIRC the pictograph for "trouble" is "two women under one roof". Perhaps in a few decades that will switch to two men. :-)
I don't know of any historical models for China's current situation.
Countries with more men than women? Sure. They typically went to war so those men could find "wives".
But none of those countries had that imbalance while also having most of those males being only children.
If you have 3 sons, you're willing to risk losing 1 or 2 of them in order of the remaining son(s) to get wives and give you grandchildren.
Parents with only 1 son don't seem to be willing to risk losing that 1 son in order for someone else to get grandchildren. So while those boys may be "an army", they're not one that the gov't seems like it can afford to use against anyone who can fight back, at all. So China isn't going to be invading India or Vietnam, or Japan, in order to get "war brides".
It will be interesting to see what happens here, because so far as I know the situation is just totally unprecedented
hoe_math does a better job of explaining the problem. This article is written by people who are surface level and trivial in nature. Corporate media like the NYTs is a balm for light thinkers and sheep.
A much better place to start a conversation on dating dynamics
GregTCT is correct--the Chinese layabout louts are not the makings of successful armies, and for that matter the Chinese don't marry inferiors (i.e. non-Han).
The way women view men naturally excludes 50% of men from participating in breeding activities.50% of men in any population will just be invisible to women.
It is what women naturally do and the inevitable result of “do whatever you want” will end up with women chasing men who will sleep with them but not marry them.
There is a reason why women are happier in societies with arranged marriage.
"Parents with only 1 son don't seem to be willing to risk losing that 1 son in order for someone else to get grandchildren."
China's One Child Policy resulted in a domestic phenomenon of their 1 son becoming a "little emperor" ("小皇帝"). Roundabouts the early 2000's a lot of Chinese families began realizing their sons weren't as reliable as their daughters in the traditionally cultural expectation that their 'little emperor' was going to be there to support them when they retired, if for no other reason many of them moved so far away it became practically impossible.
In recent years, before the repeal of the policy, many families had switch to producing "little empresses". Many of them have since grown up and are more filially reliable than their brothers that never existed, but their daughters aren't having kids either.
Like almost more than half the world, the demographics of China are going pear-shaped. It bodes not well.
Sounds like this guy is blaming women for the oppression from the CCP. There's a hole brand of tube tok influencer fame that bash women's as golddigger whores who will only fuck chads. This is how people are distracted from the DNC Davos destruction of the middle class. At our very popular grocery store, I see plenty of schlubby altitude challenged young men squiring around attractive young females some of whom have kids or are preggo.
Again, social media amplifies the 1-10% and people think it's a majority condition. Don't look at the man behind the curtain.
I love how the NYT's always does two things. 1) Slant articles to make their target audience - Middle aged women - feel good and 2) give their dumbo readers "labels" so they know whether something is good or bad. So, once they see "misogyny" libtards know "Oh, this is bad".
Funniest part of the article is where some chick professor is brought in to tell us that Grooms having to pay the Brides families large sums of money isn't the fault of the bride. "Why she's a victim too". LOL!
Also interesting that in China the groom pays the brides familiy while in Europe the tradition is the opposite. A dowry was often required for the groom to take the bride off their hands.
It would've been nice to know more about the game and why men like it so much. But I suppose the whole point of the article is allow female readers to laugh at the poor chinese losers and celebrate "Girl Power" in China.
Gen-PParenthood.

Your problem here is that you only address the surface levels of the issue to attack people you don’t know.
Men and women are not monolithic groups. Societies have ranged in freedoms given to women and men in mate selection
and reproductive freedom. Societies in the past have given women wide latitude to pick mates and it usually ends badly. Societies have swung a pendulum between most men being included and only elite men being included.
Telling women promiscuity is ok always ends badly for society and in particular it leads to poor outcomes for promiscuous women. But inevitably when female promiscuity becomes the norm males are blamed for the results.
Walk like a man
Talk like a man
Walk like a man, my son
No woman's worth crawling on the earth
So don't lay flat and let it rot, my son
像男人走路

不"躺平摆烂",年子
In order for a society to have freedom and function as a society a critical mass of people in that society must achieve a sufficient level of moral development. You have to go through several stages where you learn about how to operate in groups with other people and how to follow rules necessary for societal function.
Most people never get past the “if I am nice to you you be nice to me” stage.
Women will sleep with men with the inherent assumption that the men will value them and marry them. Then they get mad when that doesn’t happen.
This manifests in men who are nice to women and buy them stuff and give them money but this will never lead to women finding them attractive.
It is the moral development that is lacking right now.
Since Betty Friedan, our media has been packed with endless variations on the theme of contemporary intersexual dissatisfactions. Reading these things has been like being told to watch a clock without being given a clue as to why the hands of the clock move.
Depicting the act of sex used to be shockingly pornographic.
Now, explaining the need for it has become shockingly outre, because the reality is so distressingly agricultural. We're smelly animals only dimly aware of what we want.

Ah, but there's a rub.
That "large cohort of disenfranchised male youth" is mainly "only sons". Essentially every one you kill off leaves 2 parents and 4 grandparents who've lost their future, and blame the gov't.
So the gov't hasn't been able to do that
If you want someone to be attracted to to you, you have to make yourself attractive in some way. He's unemployed, resentful, probably socially awkward - he has little to offer a woman. Instead of trying to interact with actual women and learn what they might want in a relationship, he's diving deeper online into a video game.
@Greg The Class Traitor, it's stickier still. By current estimates, the PLA has no less than six or seven active divisions (roughly 200-250,000 men) in XinJiang garrisoning and actively repressing the Uyghur population there, which in itself has a long antagonistic history behind it.
An attempt to solve the Taiwanese question by the PRC will require every single man and every ounce of resources they possess, which will entail their need to roll the dice vis-a-vis weakening internal security. China is nowhere near as homogenous as most are led to believe, and China's greatest threats historically come from within.
China has big problems. They could take Taiwan, but it could turn pyrrhic very quickly on the domestic front, and leadership in JingXi hotel know this.
It's not just HKer's in the PRC that think "China is asshoe".
I believe the term of art these days is 'incel'.
The objectification of women as sexual objects is mirrored in the objectification of men as ATMs. Men are getting tired of it, since there is no longer an accompanying respect. Both objectifications used to just be a part of relationships, but they seem to have developed into the whole deal. It's a global phenomenon, but I think it's much worse to experience in an honor based society like China or Japan.
Also interesting that in China the groom pays the brides familiy while in Europe the tradition is the opposite. A dowry was often required for the groom to take the bride off their hands.
The point of a dowry was that women couldn't inherit, so they got their "inheritance" when they married. Men could inherit, so they didn't.
I'm curious if Chinese women could inherit when this custom came about
Does bringing up the Rape of the Sabine Women count as a Roman Empire tie in, even if it was pre-Empire, or probably pre-Republic? At what point does biological need overcome the societal pressure to protect the family? How can any government manage this dysfunction?
