Iran only signs on because they have nothing left to fight with. Excellent job, USA!

RCOCEAN II చెప్పారు...

How in the world can Trump act like the USA is a disinterested 3rd party or somehow neutral in some way? We are Israel's bitch. Its the USA/Israel on one side, Iran is on the other.

And Trump just got through lying to everyone as a ruse, to cover the upcoming attack. Is he lying now? Or is this the truth? Who knows.

FormerLawClerk చెప్పారు...

Israel wishes to destroy Iran's ability to fire missiles into Israel. That's precisely what the United States would do if say Canada was firing missiles into Detroit.

Iran wishes to destroy Israel because Allah told them to, or some crazy shit.

These things are not the same.

Chris చెప్పారు...

"That's precisely what the United States would do if say Canada was firing missiles into Detroit."

How would know that they haven't already? A few missiles into Detroit might improve the place. Why would Canada do that, when GM, and decades of Democrat leadership have already destroyed the once great and prosperous city.

Iman చెప్పారు...

Trump is employing “Taqiyya”, RCOCEAN. You’re good with that, no?

Enigma చెప్పారు...

He's not wrong. Brothers and cousins and neighbors always fight the hardest.

FormerLawClerk చెప్పారు...

"How in the world can Trump act like the USA is a disinterested 3rd party or somehow neutral in some way."

Especially since the United States Congress sold Israel the bullets they use.

Trump has allowed Iran to back him into a corner where the only way out is to attack Israel.

Trump was stupid to set up the situation this way. He now loses on the world stage if Iran keeps firing missiles and Israel keeps defending itself. Which is going to occur.

doctrev చెప్పారు...

"Do you believe Iran is still committed to peace?"

"I do. They violated, but Israel violated it too."

As usual, President Trump finds a way to quietly slip the important part under an f-bomb. Hopefully the IDF has smug personalities like FLC advising them. I'd love to see America employ reciprocal "symbolic" strikes.

Mary E. Glynn చెప్పారు...

Take away their weapons.
Let the Jewish men grow up and learn to live as men, alongside other men. All this babying the "poor Jews" is going to get them killed. Men will tell you this. Women will coddle the poor boys, treat them special, pat their heads and tell them it's ok to kill children if they have to defend themselves...

Cut off Israel's weapons allowance. There needs to be a good Daddy in this scenario because the Jewish men clearly were raised without a Father in the home. Poor boys.

Israel best pull some scientists off the PagerTricks special projects and best get to building weapons plants. American demographics have changed...
Nobody except the old Jewish ladies (and those who wanna be) want Americans to be providing weapons to boys who grew up without character because they were raised by "single" moms because no man could stand to be in the home with them raising sons... even their own sons. Sad.

Dave Begley చెప్పారు...

Accurate comment by DJT.

FormerLawClerk చెప్పారు...

"Hopefully the IDF has smug personalities like FLC advising them."

I would advise Israel to defend their borders, in exactly the same way that I would advise the United States to defend hers.

If any country was firing missiles, or fentanyl, into the United States to kill Americans, I would expect an American President to destroy that country's ability to do so.

And Israel should do that also. That would be my advice to Israel. It is sound advice and if any of them are listening, I hope they take my advice.

Israel should destroy Iran's ability to fire rockets into Israel and kill its citizens. Whether Donald Trump wants them to do that or not is irrelevant.

My advice to Donald Trump is to stop worrying about what Israel does to protect its borders and start worrying about Mexico sending its missiles ... or rather its fentanyl ... into the United States to kill Americans.

Larry J చెప్పారు...

It isn’t unusual for countries to continue fighting right up to the minute an announced ceasefire takes place. Usually, they’re trying to gain some last minute advantage. The armistice ending World War I was signed at 5:00 AM before it took effect at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918. The last American to die in that war was killed at 10:59 AM. Over 300 other Americans also died that day. A similar thing happened at the end of WWII.

Imagine that vapid jezebel dealing with any foreign policy crisis of the past six months! The people giving her 1.7 billion dollars would not have taken it well, that's for sure. I don't think she would have actually made the inauguration before the DNC leaked her tapes with Willie Brown.

Yes. And for some reason that drives a lot of people batty. But it's also a deficient count. The Saudis, Bahrain, Qatar, Syria, UAE, Egypt, Oman and probably some I forgot ALL condemned the Iranians for the strike on our base yesterday. China and Putin both said "that's enough." So RC, recalibrate your take in light of the fact it is the USA and the WORLD in opposition to Iran and their rogue regime's nuke program.

Sure you can fantasize about Israel "controlling Trump" but the sooner you realize he acts on his own instincts the better it will be for your future ability to understand events as they continue unfolding. Unlike democrats, we Republicans don't need anyone telling us what to think and do.

Uhh, Mike, the opposition to Iran is strictly business. According to AI Gemini:

Approximately 20% of the world's total oil consumption is transported through the Strait of Hormuz. This makes it a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies. The strait is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

Approximately 80% of China's crude oil imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) (.gov). This makes China heavily reliant on the Strait for its energy supply, with the Middle East being a key source of oil. In 2022, over 50% of China's total oil imports came from Gulf countries near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Let's assume the cease fire does not hold. Here's what I still see as proven and/or likely:
Iran's nuke program is (at least) delayed for long time.
Iran's proxies have been largely defanged.
Iran's air defense was shattered and their air space is open to Israel. So Iran attacking Israel would likely NOT be to Iran's advantage.
Iran has been dealt an economic blow.
The other major Arab states have seen how toothless Iran is at the hands of both Israel and the US. There are two strong horses now and everyone knows it.
Russia and China have been given a demonstration of America's military capacity. It is, in many ways, beyond what any other country can even dream about.
China is energy dependent on the ME. The US is not.
The Abraham Accords may well gain signatories.
Hamas is beaten back and Iran is unlikely to be able to support them substantially.

Yeah, what if Kamala - bhwahahahaha.

@Peachy: "with all the fantastic chess moves by Israel and the Trump administration .. anyone wonder if this is more chess moves?"

This isn't chess, rather, these were bone stock military actions. This follows from (1) weapons technology -- USA and Israel are at the top worldwide, (2) deep pockets -- USA has the deepest with the post-WW2 mother-sow-and-piglets economic system, and (3) having will to apply superior technology and keep it coming per those deep pockets.

Trump grows bored and impatient quickly. He wants it to end now (good luck there...), but may make it worse a la Clinton sparking mass suicide bombings in the 1990s as he sought a "final solution" for Israel and Palestine.

I’m finding little hard facts either. Lots of places writing what are essentially opinion pieces on what is going on. Example, Stephen Green at PJMedia writing as if the ceasefire is already over. However, this is what I’ve found:

Iran fired a missile that landed in Israel some twenty minutes after the ceasefire. It may have been launched before the ceasefire officially ended. It could have been meant to breach the ceasefire. On the latter, it could be the intentions of those involved in negotiations to break ceasefire or it could be someone that wants those negotiations to fail.

In response, Israel order a retaliatory strike. It ultimately only destroyed a radar site. Israel has now stood down from any more responses at the time being.

It has been a few hours now, and maybe cooler heads are prevailing. Maybe it is all a ruse. Personally, I’ll say it again; I’m hoping for peace. I’d say the markets are acting as if peace is possible. Oil is at $65, $2 below opening. Gold is down $60. DJIA is up 400 pts.

I'm happy to see Trump put out the statement he did in the manner he did. It matched my emotion I felt after I heard Israel bombed the radar site after Trump told them not to, which was frustration. Bombing that site was an absolutely reckless move by Israel that provided no real strategic benefit but risked jeopardizing a possible peace deal after a short conflict in which Israel made huge strategic gains with almost no measurable loss. Plus the attack by Israel jeopardized the support of it's most important ally. The level of support the US gives Israel is not immutable, and given the way the Left in the US has acted after the October 7th attack you would think someone would be whispering in Netanyahu's ear about the importance of preserving political support Israel does currently have in the US.

President Trump on Peace
Exceeds Expectations
I just wanted the long slide into an inept and weak foreign policy and Army to stop. It did. Promises Made. Promises kept.
But, as Howard noted correctly (exceeds expectations) Trump is trying to bring peace in different areas. Abraham Accords, in his first term. And Pakistan nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize - unfortunately on the day he dropped 14 30,000 bombs on Iran's nuclear weapons program. (Was that peace or war?) There's a Congo war I know nothing about where a million people have been killed over mineral rights or something. Probably by now they've been fighting so long and so hard they don't know what the fuck they are doing. That's a kind of war, non-ideological, that Trump is trying to stop.
It's been sixty years since I ran around chanting "All we are saying is give peace a chance." I became thoroughly disillusioned about the "Peace movement" and the Commies running it on behalf of Russian foreign policy. But today the feeling came back.
Exceeds Expectations

If Kamala Harris just dropped a half dozen bunker busters on Fordow - as an observant Jew and as a conservative - I wouldn't care what she says. Her actions would have been so substantial that she would have a LOT of credit to do and say whatever she wants. I say that as an American and as a Jew. Any objective observer - obviously not our resident antisemite - would acknowledge that an Iranian nuke is not only a direct threat to us but will allow Iran to rule most of the world's oil and so the world economy which would be a catastrophe. As a Jew I am grateful for Pres Trump's action in protecting my brethren in Israel but as an American I am equally grateful that we have a President who acts on behalf of American interests and acted to keep America safe.

That generates a LOT of goodwill. He (or she if she had done it) has a LOT of goodwill to spend.

Well we've seen what happened in every Dem executive beginning with Clinton and since. The muslims can suicide bomb pizza shops and attack schools all they want. They can bomb our military (eg Khobar Towers, Beirut), they can bomb our boats (USS Cole) and our land (the first World Trade Center bombing under clinton, our embassies in africa) and we won't do anything about. Just keep killing our people. We don't mind.

They can be at war with us. Inga's and RCOcean's desire seems to be they can kill us. We just can't fight back.

Insane.

We - Western Civilization - have been at war with Islam since at least 1979. We just haven't ever fought back. GWB is the first who fought back. Trump is the second.

Their fight is not limited to Israel. I don't want to be pejorative or ad hominem but you have to be an idiot not to see that. Israel is the first step. Western Civ - look at Europe today - is the goal. There can be only Islamic rule. Any land not under shariah is dar al harb. They are at war with western civ until sharia rules the globe. When you see everything bad in this world as a Jewish plot and believe the Jews are secretly pulling strings and cause everything bad, well, you might be an antisemite. Not you personally. I'm sure RC believes there's a tiny group of Rothschilds that are in control of the world finances too.

Collectivism - a great source of evil in this world - often posits that the world is good and we should be living in utopia. Why is "our" group suffering then? Why are we not all beautiful and rich? There must be someone foiling the natural order. Some evil group. They are the source of everything bad and must be stopped by any means necessary. We need to label them. We need to segregate them from our holy, pure people. We need to extinguish them. THAT is the way for the world to return to its natural order where everything is good again.

For Communists the "we" is the proletariat and the "they" the bourgoisie and property owners. For nazis it is aryans and Jews.

I'm not saying RCOcean is a nazi of course. But his worldview sure closely echoes that flavor of collectivism.

I recognize calling people nazis generally means you've lost the argument. And I'm not saying he is a nazi. His sympathies however echo the collectivist argument made by them.
