"Success will bring the country together,” said President Trump in his Super Bowl interview

Of course not! Too many people have been taught — by elementary school teachers, middle and high school teachers, and college professors — that this country is irredeemably evil. They will be in no way happy if the US is successful.

To the evil religous cult that is the Democrat party and their cult media - this means war.

For the 25th year in a row, I have no idea who's playing in the Super Bowl. If it's not played in weather below 0 F or in deep mud, football holds no interest.

wild chicken বলেছেন...

I assume the progs won't watch because it's on FOX?

Jaq বলেছেন...

If he is successful in breaking the iron rice bowls of the DC insiders and their henchmen in the bureaucracy, there are still going to be a fair number of unhappy people, and they control the media.

The donut shop had two tip boxes out, one for KC and the other for Philly. The KC box seemed to have more bills in it, and more large ones--I saw a few 20s.

Normally I tip there when I buy something, but I skipped it today.

rehajm বলেছেন...

Pleasantly surprised its been relatively leftie-propaganda free when I’ve focused one eye their way…yay Trump though. Kara Schwisser must be extra insurrection-ey after that…

Iman বলেছেন...

Missed the interview, but Jaq is correct… there will be many people absolutely verklempt about being kicked off the gravy train. Some may even find themselves in legal jeopardy.

And for good reason.

Swifties vs cheesesteaks

DEI vs DEI.

We get the circuses. They keep the bread for themselves.

Yancey Ward বলেছেন...

I don't much care who wins tonight but, for novelty, I hope KC becomes the first 3-Peat winner.

Leland বলেছেন...

Fox going heavy on the patriotism. They even have a former Patriot doing color commentary.

Arashi বলেছেন...

Yes some folks will still be upset. These are the people that if someone gave them a brand new Lamborghini, they would complain that it was the wrong color and if red, call their attorney to sue for being triggered.

tcrosse বলেছেন...

Love will keep us together. (Although it didn't keep the Captain and Tennille together.)

Big Mike বলেছেন...

@Yancey Ward, 1st half is all Eagles defense.

gilbar বলেছেন...

With Taylor Swift's support; HOW can Harris lose?

Big Mike বলেছেন...

(And so far the commercials have not been impressive. There was one where a man is holding his little girl and having flash-forwards to when he teaches her to drive and later still when he drops her off at college that appealed to an old softy like me, but mostly just meh.)

Larry J বলেছেন...

Democrats are only happy when they’re in power, the graft is flowing, and America is losing.

traditionalguy বলেছেন...

DJT said the forbidden word: KICKBACKS. So Brett Baer never mentioned it.

Narr বলেছেন...

@Big Mike (7:24)

Be glad the commercial wasn't about proud Pop driving his little girl to their first abortion.

I saw the last third of the second quarter, looked in at the Puppy Bowl, and went back a few minutes into the halftime show. Fascinating, in its way.

I wonder what it's supposed to mean.

Leland বলেছেন...

If the Chiefs don’t win, how will Travis Kelce propose to Taylor?

NorthOfTheOneOhOne বলেছেন...

Well, looks like we'll be getting a new album soon once Taylor writes 47 different songs about how disappointed she is that her boyfriend's team lost.

Big Mike বলেছেন...

@Leland, he won’t be able to propose — she’ll start dating someone else.

Big Mike বলেছেন...

@Leland, I think Jalen Hurts is single. Maybe Swift can date him instead?

JRoberts বলেছেন...

Regarding the halftime show, another year of boring hip-hop (or whatever this was). Rick Beato is right, modern popular music is dead.

Being in New Orleans, it would have great to have had a significant jazz representation. Trombone Shorty, Perservation Hall Band, etc. would have been an improvement over Kendrick Lamar.

BTW, is anybody else getting tired of Samuel L. Jackson and his Shtick?

Clever Pseudonym বলেছেন...

Yes, to JRoberts' suggestion:
Trombone Shorty, Kermit Ruffins, the Rebirth Brass Band etc: NOLA musicians would have rocked the house with some real funky jazz and instrumental skill, not tedious rapping.
(I love hip hop but live performances are its weak spot.)

It remined me of this gem.

Mahomes showed a lot of character. I don't think a QB has ever been sacked that much in a Superbowl. He really got run over a few times, but he hung in there.......I looked up the lyrics to Not Like Us, the Kendrick Lamar rap song. Then I asked ChatGpt what the lyrics meant. Apparently he accuses Drake of pedophilia in the song. How is that not defamation:

Ice Nine বলেছেন...

Halftime show was dreadful. Monotonous, unintelligible muttering. Could they at least have danced a bit?

Where's Prince when you really need him?

Narr বলেছেন...

I understand that the halftime rapper was Kendrick Lamar, and the girl singer was Memphis' own Flo-rilla.

A proud moment for us.

tommyesq বলেছেন...

Following up on Big Mike, the major problem in America since Obama got elected is the notion that the greatest signifies that you don't deserve to succeed is actual success.

tommyesq বলেছেন...

Also, could you imagine Jeep running the Harrison Ford jingoistic pro America ad during the Biden years?

effinayright বলেছেন...

The only commercial that got even a snort from me was the one with the Man with a Cowboy Head. The rest? Meh. We watched Mark Levin during halftime, and were thus spared the savage shit that is hip hop. (as Mark would say, "There. I said it.")

Leland বলেছেন...

I clicked off near the start of the 4th quarter. Hurts 50+ yard, all-air, TD pass was just the chefs kiss to a deserved win.

Curious George বলেছেন...

"Apparently he accuses Drake of pedophilia in the song. How is that not defamation:"

How? If it's true.

Hey Skipper বলেছেন...

The Carl’s Jr ad made me stop breathing for a bit.

JAORE বলেছেন...

"Apparently he accuses Drake of pedophilia in the song. How is that not defamation:"
He does in the full version of the song. But he cut the specific lines that did so for the Superbowl. People still understood. And Kendrick tossed out a line about "likin' 'em young".

Lazarus বলেছেন...

If Kendrick is rapping at the Superbowl about his feud with another rapper maybe he isn't that creative after all. He didn't have to write something new for the occasion, but does he really not have anything else in his quiver?

About Trump: cooperating to achieve success may bring us together. Achieving success probably won't. Given security, we'll only start attacking each other again. America goes from being on top of the world to tearing itself apart. We can't think of anything else to do, so we go looking for challenges that tear the country down rather than build it up.

I'm not entirely sure about the cooperation to achieve success either: we didn't have social media or 24 hour news when we won world wars and cold wars. On the positive side though, if we have goals that we can agree on, maybe we manage to come together for a while.
