Trump announced he will sign an executive order Monday delaying the TikTok ban and called for the platform to be taken over by a joint venture with U.S. and current owners, also urging companies to prevent TikTok from “going dark” and vowing “no liability” for any tech firms that act before Monday (the law gives Trump the power to extend the ban for up to 90 days if ByteDance is making progress toward a sale).
TikTok now greets users with a popup saying it is “working to restore our service in the U.S. as soon as possible”—but the message no longer praises Trump for promising to “work with” the platform, after drawing some criticism.
UPDATE: TikTok is now working for me in the app on both my iPhone and my iPad. So I have to assume something happened already.

I used to watch in browser but it kept pushing me to download the app.
Yesterday Kim komando said browser viewing would still be an option but like it was a fate worse than the ban itself. So I don't get it either.

I always access sites using a browser rather than their app. I don't want to load apps that I can't possibly know what they're doing. Perhaps I'm fooling myself, but I assume it's safer.
I can see it now, but earlier this morning when I checked on the same iPad I’m using now, I got a message on their site saying they were down.

Seems to me TikTok content is running through the TikTok web portal like that of all other content providers.
Notably, the TikTok web portal no longer tries to force you to install the app after watching a video over the web if you want to watch more videos.
For those who did not wish to install the TikTok app, this increases their access to content on TikTok.

You are misinterpreting that. I did not embed the Rand Paul video again. I merely linked to it and I also have a screenshot of it there. The actual embedded video on the post is the cool post of which you speak. That was not TikTok advancing that video to you. That was me deliberately embedding that video.
I'm sure Chairman Xi appreciates Senator Paul's commitment to open inquiry, freedom of speech, and constitutional liberty. Huzzah! However Paul is still on the list for a firing squad if his re-education treatment doesn't work. Just saying...
