OK, I saw a cool sight today. It's one of those winter days in New England with a fresh layer of snow, but it's above freezing, so there is kind of a light steamy fog slightly obscuring the distance, but the trunks of the trees are wet and black, contrasting with the snow and the sky, and there is a wild apple tree in a meadow, but at the edge of the woods, with some apples still on it, and there are about a dozen wild turkeys, spread out on the branches like Christmas ornaments, and some under the tree eating apples in the snow. It would have made great artwork for a Courier and Ives china platter. Not quite a partridge in a pear tree, but you know, it was about as close as I ever expected to see.

The first picture reminds me of the background at the Mr. Lincoln attraction at Disneyland. As the "audio-animatronic" Abe closes out the last lines of the Gettysburg address, the sunrise background morphs into the Stars and Stripes. I don't know if the attraction is still there as it's been years since we last went to any Disney park, but it probably wouldn't fly these days, even if it were a CGI holographic display.

I'm more than a little flabbergasted at the outpouring of support for the assassin who murdered the insurance executive in New York. The plan was meticulous, I'll give him that, but it doesn't take much courage to shoot a man in the back.
I get that health insurance executives are not regarded as sympathetic people, but have the writers for papers like the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, or L. A. Times or newsanchors for the likes of MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, or CNN consider that they don't poll much higher with the general public?

Democrats should spend exactly zero political capital stopping any

It is madness to spend capital trying to help people who are no longer a major part of your electoral

This was in response to a woman who entered this country illegally proudly boasting that her sons (who may have birthright citizenship — it isn’t clear) voted for Trump. I’ve said said it before, that Democrat support for people entering this country illegally — all the bullshit, all the conflation with legal immigration — will end as soon as they start supporting Republicans.
Hurricane Helene dissipated and dumped its moisture over Western North Caroline and Eastern Tennessee over two months ago. JD Vance was in Western North Carolina showing that there are still people living in tents in December thanks to the Biden Administration’s dilatory response to the tragedy. He doesn’t have to be there; the election is over and there are no more votes to be had. But hopefully he is putting motivation (fear for their jobs) into a bunch of lazy and hitherto unmotivated FEMA bureaucrats.

You always gotta make sure the margin of victory is larger than the margin of officials.
These photos capture the sunrise in America many are hoping will be ushered in during this second Trump term. The colors are breathtakingly vibrant.
I've never understood this massive, iceberg-sized assumption in the Democrat playbook - assuming that once you start offering to give out free money, that everybody will always vote for you, no matter what. It works part of the time, for lazy and/or desperate people. But many people from south of the border are Catholic, with responsible impulses and a sense of pride. I've known quite a few of them, and their experiences with socialism are more recent and deeper-felt than anything we've had here. And in Central/South America, when you say 'Democratic' it often means conservative.
The saturation of the reds and oranges reminds me so strongly of the scene that ends the first half of Gone With the Wind, as Scarlet pledges never to be hungry again — the camera pulls back to a Blazing Red Sky as TARA'S THEME swells...I hear that music when I look at the reddest clouds from these pictures; SO PRETTY....
