I don't know what any of them were talking about. Ariana Grande looks like she is anorexic.
I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Maybe somebody can give us the lowdown.
Why is the black chick wearing clothespins on her hands? I used to wear clothespins on my fingers too but I was 4 years old and pretending to be a dinosaur.
That was a waste of 1:54 of my life
I did a search on X - "holding space interview" . Lots of results, still don't know what it is.
Well, that explains it.
That 7+ earthquake in Los Angeles a few days ago was Old Hollywood rolling over in its grave.
It's stuff guys have to pretend to be interested in in order to get laid.
I assume they're talking about that unscripted moment when the whole thing just sort of collapsed into a flurry of darting tongues.
I think I had something similar experience when a group I was giving a share ride to, from a gated community, was having the usual reaction to a woman running a stop sign just before I had to break hard to avoid hitting her. I said “she’s probably just looking for an upgrade“ and the group started laughing like I just told a good joke. It wasn’t until later that I realized they (a two white mixed gender couples) might have interpreted what I said as ‘the (white good looking) woman was looking to get hit on, and I, a Latinx person of color, was the perfect candidate’ …or something. When all along I was talking about hitting a BMW in need of an upgrade. 🤷🏽♂️
I think it was the last talk between Jordan Peterson & Lex. Peterson broke down what happens when people are talking to each other. Loosely from memory Peterson said we talk in symbols and we break the symbols down to a listener and it’s up to the listener to reconstruct the symbols in the closest resemblance to what the speaker said possible. Some, and sometimes all is lost in translation.
As near as I can tell 'Holding Space' means that you're not letting a fart out.
What?
I've had an easier time understanding the modern version of Mayan culture, in the middle of a guerrilla war zone [Chiapas, Mex] ... and I was there to teach Composting to an agricultural coop, even though I can only speak enough Tzeltal [modern Mayan] to be polite -- and my Spanish--Tzeltal terp [=translator] never showed.
But they were farmers, and so was I. You have to understand that after doctors, we agronomists are the most revered people in isolated rural communities throughout Latin America. Africa, too. But most agronomists are not also actual farmers, and we could feel that fundamental connection in each others' worn, calloused, and gnarly hands.
So I taught the class in PANTOMIME, and between their marginal Spanish and my marginal Tzeltal we figured it out. What opened our essential human connection, however, was when I got down on my hands and knees, braying loudly -- and convincingly, based on long-eared interest -- and then pretended to be taking a shit.
That raucous laughter will echo as long as I have memory. Not only an agonomist, but a GRINGO at that. After the class was over, and lunch nearly ready, the kids all came to me, and flapped their hands like long ears. I gave them all "burro" rides, complete with braying, just as I had done for my little sisters, decades earlier, when being Eeyore for them.
Back in the region three years later, I was told that not only were they making great compost and growing much better gardens, that some of their young men had gone to other small settlements and taught them -- in Tzeltal -- how to make good compost from burro shit, straw, weeds, crushed eggshells, and their abundant coffee pulp.
But those weird chicks? I find not a shred of connection with them, not even knowing what world they live in, or what language they're speaking. Lost in space, most notably that between their ears.
One time when I was a Test Manager for the C-17 I was stopped in the hallway and asked by a Program Manager about the ABC project. I proceeded to give an update when he interrupted all upset because he thought we should be a lot further along in the process and asked me a bunch of questions that sort of made sense. Anyway, after going around and around for about five minutes we realized the ABC project he was asking about had the same acronym as the different ABC project I was talking about. But that still made more sense than this drivel.
I feel like this is the distilled essence of every Kamala Harris speech.
I’m so happy I waited for the Althousians to explain what was happening instead of watching. I have no doubt it was better that way…
The guy there seems politely uninterested.
To be fair, this has been edited to achieve the worst possible effect - or at least, I hope so.
@Disparity of Cult, maybe he’s gay?
Stop the world, I want to get off.
"A flurry of darting tongues" : I'll get back to you as soon as I figure out if that is intriguing or repulsive. AHA! Repulsive. Thank you.
