Write about anything you want... except the election results. I'll put up a dedicated post for that.

Why is the Fox News broad wearing a Kentucky Fried Chicken uniform?

In more election news:

70% of EXIT VOTERS say the country is on the WRONG TRACK.

No incumbent has EVER been re-elected under such circumstances.

Democrats have lost 50% of the voters of Dixville Notch, which went 100% for Joe Biden in 2020 (assuming those were real votes back then, probably weren't). But this year 50% of those voters switched to Trump, including at least one woman.

Democrat CHEATING and FRAUD is being reported in virtually every state, with voting machines being tampered with, Republican voting machines being shut down, Republicans having to stand in 6 hour lines, ballots being turned in with ONLY Kamala Harris listed for President. It goes on and on and on.

We aren't going to VOTE our way out of a system where the President of the United States can be removed from office in a coup by some hooker from California.

I recommend the movie "Lost on a Mountain in Maine" now in theaters. Good story based on true events in 1939. But I also recommend that you read the book, available on Amazon. The movie makes up things that aren't in the book, and it leaves out important things that are in the book. It makes me think about how we remember our history and tell stories about it.

Today we had the fourth visit from an appliance repairman in as many weeks, which ended in his third defeat at the foot of the dishwasher.

When we renovated our kitchen in '17 ('16? how time flies) we got a nice Kitchenaid dishwasher, which has given good service until shortly before my overseas trip last month. We noticed that it appeared to be running without water and set up a repair visit when I got back.

The first time, the young guy found that the water valve wasn't working properly and ordered another one, which they had to wait on. A week later he came with the new part, put it in, and watched it still not work. He left the new part in without charging us the $200-odd dollars.

Had to be the command unit. He came a week later with a new one--which didn't help. He left it in without charging us the $400-odd dollars.

Had to be the wiring underneath. Today he replaced the old wiring with the new--which didn't help. Now we're up to about $600.00 but he can't charge us for parts and labor because he didn't fix the problem.

Twelve years of experience and thousands of repairs, and he's never seen the like.

We'll probably replace the whole machine now. My wife has regained her proficiency at washing dishes for two people and a dog, but she has to do it several times a day, and who needs that?

So a few days ago I had cleaned up the yard and bagged the leaves, four whole yard waste bags full. Two days later it looked like I had done nothing. I'm always surprised how many leaves there are in fall.

That is a great pic!

Leaf-raking is sisyphean. I only try to keep the porch and patio clear, and only after I'm sure the great bulk of dead matter has descended. It has barely started here.

The Vault Dweller said...

I do minimal raking itself. Most of my leaf pick up is with the mower.

Speaking of women who are "finger lickin' good": if you want to see the most tasteless (but not technically obscene) LP album cover ever, search "Dennis Coffey Finger Lickin Good" on eBay. I worked in a record store when it came out ~1977 and still remember seeing it for the first time.

Smart.

I let the HOA determine when I have to rake. I get their letters and emails warning me, then more letters about potential fines, then a final warning about a fine if the problem is not resolved post haste. Then I wait another week and rake. Sometimes I send a pic to the HOA to stop the letters, sometimes I let them send me another one before sending a dated pic to them. Usually need to rake only once each fall, using this technique.

Come gather 'round people, wherever you roam,
And admit that the waters around you have grown,
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone,
For the order is rapidly changing.
