I was curious if Achilles was correct about the increase in votes so here is the data on all counties where Biden in 2020 gained either 100,000 votes over Obama in 2012 or over Clinton in 2016. Maricopa in AZ stands out, since the margin was so small. As does the 125,000 in Fulton GA. Others: 811,000 LA in CA and over 300,000 in both San Diego and Orange, CA; 237,000 in Cook IL, over 100,000 in 7 Texas counties, and so on. No PA, MI, or WI though.
