My family in Idaho out on near the res love it. It's faster, more reliable and cheaper than the utility ISPs. In South Carolina Starlink is as slow as shit but it worked when cell and the locals failed…

The new IPhone wanted me to demo satellite sending via message. It had neat pictures of my global location and some orbiting animation…that was it.

Meanwhile the situation in Florida was so well managed that they are freeing up assets to help in the Carolinas. Too bad that dastardly governor of Florida is a Soros backed RINO.

The lack of an adequate federal response could cost Kamala the state.

One of my favorite towns. It's so disturbing to see what has happened there. Serious devastation in and around Asheville. I'm reading horrible stories and seeing awful videos of the damage in that beautiful area.

Just off the coast here in Sarasota, our barrier islands south to north are all wrecked. It's as if the beach and sea scum and all manner of debris has been moved into the little villages, homes, and businesses.

And...there's another new storm forming in the southern Caribbean in the same place that Helene formed. We'll be keeping our eyes on reports as this thing forms, looking to see which direction and how powerful it'll be. Early autumn fun on the Gulf Coast.

It's funny, Musk was already building out charging infrastructure, and the Harris Administration changed the rules to exclude Tesla from the subsidies given to other EV manufacturers, and in order to compete, Tesla had to put an end to this roll out.

Musk already built out high-speed internet to rural areas, but the Democrats insist on building out expensive land based infrastructure, rather than simply subsidizing what already exists.

It's almost as if we weren't $34 trillion in debt, it might be $35 trillion by today. And that doesn't count all of the trillions in obligations we have committed to that don't show up on a balance sheet of money borrowed to pay expenses today.

He would be in line to be President if he hadn't taken up the cudgels for the anti-Trumpers, that is to say the Democrats.

Ya - where is Harris? This is a layup, in politico speak.

Sure as hell can't count on the Government. Red tape makes everything they do take years.

He is a great governor. I hope he does better as a candidate in 2028.

Not enough graft if Elon does it.

Oh the irony! Asheville, predominantly and notoriously populated by lefties, who, de rigueur, hate Musk.

traditionalguy said...

Thank God for Elon Musk.

I'm supposed to hop in and out of Charlotte on my way to Europe on Wednesday. Anyone know how the international airport was affected?

I'll look on the intertubes of course.

Hoping all the commenters who have been hit a quick recovery.

“Hurricane Helene is causing numerous flight delays and cancellations across the region,” a CLT spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer in an email. “We recommend passengers check their airline’s flight status before heading to the airport, including those picking up arriving passengers.”

From today's Charlotte Observer.

Yup. My son is planning to retire to South Carolina, just across the border to avoid the democrats running NC.

Thankee, North. Hopefully things will be better by midweek.

It's nice to see people helping other people like that. I'm not a big fan of us being so dependent on smart phones and the internet, but that's the way that life is now.

rehajm said...

…all the emergency management agencies point the public to their social media feeds for information, a bit unfortunate in a situation where internet and cellular go down for days but what’s the alternative?

Michael K said...

Narayanan, I doubt very much that any of it was his money. I hope he just harvested that much TDS money. "You can't cheat an honest man."
