Tomorrow is my father's burial at Rock Island National Cemetery, with full military honors. He lived almost 104 years, served in WW2 and Korea, and loved his country. I learned that one of his last good deeds was to establish a scholarship in the family's name at The Ohio State University. A long life, well lived.
Your father sounds like an amazing gentleman, hawkeyedjb. May he rest in peace and may all of his family find comfort in the exemplary life he lived and example he was for others.
My sympathy for your loss, hawkeyedjb. My father was also in WWII. They were amazing men. This country misses them dearly. Your father is no exception.
RIP and I'm sorry for your loss hawkevedjb. His was a life well-lived in a pivotal era, in service to family and country. I hope his passing is a gentle and easy one for you.
tough men and women, that generation. Both my Mom and Dad were part of it. hawkeyedjb He lived a long life, during very trying, and exciting times. May his memory be a Blessing.
Seeing tonight's Olympic "coverage," it's clear that fruit John Mulaney is the most obvious gay man in the history of closeted gay men. Just come out already, you're fooling no one.
Given the manner in which Biden was pushed out, and Harris’s participation in it via a threat of the 25th amendment, I imagine there’s not a lot of excitement for Biden’s campaign team to now be supporting Harris. Biden’s team would have a hard time shifting loyalties. They also are likely more tuned into Harris’s poor management reputation than most. Perhaps one reason there’re so many job openings in DE. We’ll see what money can buy.
There’s a strange trend documented on Instapundit today in which the comments on David French’s NYT column take him and the Left establishment in general to the woodshed and push back strongly against wokeness and anti-Trumpism. One writer asks the clear-headed question, “ What came first: Trump or woke.” Obviously this is in line with the theme that Trump is a reaction to the establishment BS. Another letter lists all the stories, actually a concise summary of Biden administration failures, which the Times could cover instead of braying about Hulk Hogan and states, “maybe Democrats don’t have all the answers” or something similar (writing with faulty short term memory here).
By the way the Olympic organizers said they purposely “referenced Da Vinci’s painting” (The Last Supper) but everybody does it. Kinda puts the lie about “it’s Greek” and the fretful hand waving to bed now, doesn’t it?
I've been filming a time lapse movie of our sunflowers ever since they started to reach roof height. It's been about 4 weeks I think. So about 50 seconds worth, shooting during daylight only, as they are now beginning to droop and turn brown. Looking forward to watching that soon.

Your dad was one of the great ones. Lucky you. And a great choice with the scholarship at The Ohio State University.
Sorry to hear hawkeyedjb. 104 years is a great run. Service to the nation when he was young and now to other youngsters. Thank you for sharing…

Communists are currently taking over Philadelphia.
These communists are waving the Hammer and Sickle flag, a flag responsible for the Soviet Gulags, the Great Terror, and widespread famine.
If you are wondering how this is happening, look no further than US universities.

RIP, hawkeyedjb. We all owe him a lot.

I have a feeling Elon might be the X factor in this year’s election.

How wonderful to have a great father and one who stayed with you so long.
@Mike (MJB Wolf)
My post was quickly updated with the material about the apology, and I'm going to write about it again.
My condolences, hawkeyedjb. Be proud.

@Althouse
I wonder who coordinated the gaslighting responses about Dionysius?
