So, plastic trash has been a big problem for decades now. A volcano just erupted.
Why not dump the plastic trash in volcanoes? Nice, deep hole, and if it erupts, melts all the plastic, which may act as a sort of lid to put out the fire, contain the ash, and save the environment.
I wanted to comment on the Trump extortion vs hush money thread, but my days are being taken up with a family situation at present and I couldn't get to it. Here's what I came to say:
So - it seems that the prosecution has been trying to make this case about Trump's bad morals - he had sex! With a prostitute! And then paid her not to tell!
And now Trump's lawyers are flipping the script to "porn actress who might or might not have had sex with Trump attempts to roll him, at the suggestion and with the help of sleazy celebrity-extorting attorney."
The case is actually about whether the payment associated with a perfectly legal NDA was accounted for correctly - and if by chance it wasn't, that offense would normally be a misdemeanor, except for the fact that it's Trump.
But the Trump defense team's approach turns the government's approach against itself, making Trump look like the victim of blackmail by a repeat offender... which will probably boost his popularity among those -i district especially but not exclusively men - who have felt victimized by, well, anyone, but particularly by a woman who lied or stretched the truth or used her womanhood to make him pay.
So, ironically, in order to get the PR train back on track, the judge might have to instruct the jury not to consider this case to be about reprehensible and (they thought) popularity-damaging sex with a prostitute, but about what it's actually about: a boring accounting detail that might or might not constitute a misdemeanor.
The downside of the defense strategy is that if the judge does turn the jury's attention back to the actual case, it's harder (but not impossible, because who else but Trump has ever been prosecuted - especially as a possible felon! - for a similar possible accounting misdemeanor?) to make the larger point about the selective prosecution of Trump.

He's probably guilty AF, but usually corrupt dems get a pass from dem administrations.
The ONLY reason he got indicted is because he went against Biden on the border. They haven't realized that even THEY can't have their own opinions now, they HAVE to be in Lockstep or they get indicted...it is a warning to anybody else who steps out of line. Ask Menendez.
Recall the video when Saddam Hussein assumed command of Iraq and he assembled the Ba'ath party leaders into a large auditorium. He called out the alleged spies (aka recalcitrant members) one by one and they were marched out and shot.
Henry Cuellar (D-Truth Teller) should have watched that video before spouting off about the border.
I love your posts Howard. Eating negativity? The buffet in front of the American people, as prepared by the Biden administration, is hardly appetizing. How about some dessert Howard? You know, some stellar news about how the border is secure, inflation has been tamed, debt going down, college campuses are for higher learning, the Trump trials secure democracy ... Everything's rosy in Howard's 'Merica.
The hybrid battery in my wife's 2007 Prius has given up the ghost. It's 17-years old, and the service rep at Michael's Toyota says typical life span is 15 to 20 years. She's put on 53,000 miles on the car and the brakes are still original factory. Replacing the battery is $4,700 + tax, but the car's in excellent shape, so we're doing that. She loves the car; a new Prius is $40,000+.
Mike of S- Is a working battery essential for the Prius to operate? I would think that it now operates like a regular ICE vehicle. Your mileage may decrease and your brakes will start to wear, but will you ever recoup your $4700? Or does the car brick itself without a functional battery?

@wendybar, I’ve been retired for 9 years now, but back in the day Ivy grads educated me that I should not even bring any of them in for an interview. At that point it wasn’t that they were anti-Semitic and thus a problem working with Jewish colleagues, it was that they felt so God-damned entitled. They should get the best assignments and I should swallow their excuses for failing to meet their due dates, because they were Ivy grads and no one could possibly have done better. No need to prove themselves to their hiring manager; they proved themselves to their respective colleges’ acceptance committees so the rest of us should fall into line.
Yes, you must have a working battery in a Prius. My 2006 Prius has gone 220,000 miles so far. I replaced the battery about 10 years ago for $3000 or so. It's been one of the best cars I've ever owned. When there is a power outage, I just plug in my inverter and run an extension cord to the house. Enough juice for LED lights and a router and computer, and the car will happily keep it up for as long as it has gasoline.
