"Voters Doubt Biden’s Leadership and Favor Trump, Times/Siena Poll Finds."

That's what greets NYT readers this morning.

Mr. Trump is winning 97 percent of those who say they voted for him four years ago, and virtually none of his past supporters said they are casting a ballot for Mr. Biden. In contrast, Mr. Biden is winning only 83 percent of his 2020 voters, with 10 percent saying they now back Mr. Trump....

[O]ver and over, the Times/Siena poll revealed how Mr. Trump has cut into more traditional Democratic constituencies while holding his ground among Republican groups. The gender gap, for instance, is no longer benefiting Democrats. Women, who strongly favored Mr. Biden four years ago, are now equally split, while men gave Mr. Trump a nine-point edge. The poll showed Mr. Trump edging out Mr. Biden among Latinos, and Mr. Biden’s share of the Black vote is shrinking, too....

From "The Big Change Between the 2020 and 2024 Races: Biden Is Unpopular/Donald Trump has the largest national lead in an NYT poll since first running for president in 2015" by Nate Cohn:

Let’s just say it: Joe Biden should be expected to win this election. He’s an incumbent president running for re-election with a reasonably healthy economy against an unpopular opponent accused of multiple federal crimes....
[M]any voters will apparently agonize between two candidates they dislike.... Overall, 19 percent of registered voters in the Times/Siena survey have an unfavorable view of both candidates — a group sometimes referred to as “double haters.” These voters say they backed Mr. Biden by a three-to-one margin among those who voted in 2020, but now he holds the support of less than half....

Mr. Biden’s support among nonwhite voters keeps sinking. He held just a 49-39 lead among the group, even though nonwhite respondents who voted in the 2020 election said they backed Mr. Biden, 69-21....

If the CIA want Biden to win... Biden will win.

Remember - we no longer have voter ID. We really don't even live in a constitutional Republic anymore. Biden is husk-puppet king of our Banana Republic, and all the communists and billionaire white left liars propping him up.

You need an ID to do just about anything. But not to vote.
Chi Com- CIA Virus enshrined that corruption.

Good news tho! - Biden goes to border and he talks about Climate Change.
You know what we need? More tax payer money for bogus green energy Democrat money laundering schemes.

I love how New York Times polls get, er, garner, such respect. Their track record is no better than most others and worse than some. But it’s the New Freaking York Times, people. At any rate it’s the internals that damn Biden: Hispanics are now Trumpers. Blacks are in the 20%s of Trump support. Youth are barely Biden.

Trump will win. The only question is, By how much?

Biden would be fine as a neighbor. He'd be the sad old man who tells you the same story (+- embellishments) day after day. An object of pity, I'd likely help with chores like mowing his lawn. But I wouldn't want him to lead a spelling bee.

Correct in all points, but I would add that all the other states have made mail-in-voting easier by hook or by crook. The only thing that might change in those states is for the Republican Party to organize ballot "harvesting" on an intensity level compared to the Democrats, but I guarantee you any effort to so will be stopped by Biden DoJ with selective law enforcement.

There it’s, ivory tower people do not feel groceries up 50%+, restaurants up 50%, fuel, interest rates, staples. The underlying economy is NOT healthy by a long shot. But you cannot expect a NYTimes political piece to think past the headlines. And of course they refuse to acknowledge that the lawfare being hurled against

Really sad propaganda even when they think they are playing it straight.

It's not (only) that Biden is personally unpopular; it's that people have realized that Progressive policies are ruining the country. Obama's "fundamental transformation" is like a Boy Scout helping an old lady across the street: it's a lot harder if she doesn't want to go.

MartyH বলেছেন...

As to the state of the economy: Determining the health of the economy by GDP is like determining one’s health using BMI. It’s a gross measure.

Other economic indicators are flashing red:

Highest credit card debt ever.
Food is highest percentage of income in thirty years.
I’ve heard that house sales volume is down.
Interest rates are still high.

“Women and minorities hardest hit” is a running joke because it is often applied to universal events. “Asteroid to destroy earth. Women and minorities hardest hit.” In Biden’s economy this statement is true, though. You can see this by who’s shifting to Trump.

We really need a 1972 Nixon style blowout election. The lawfare, the spying on citizens by intel, the madness in social issues … nothing can arrest it without such a result. And it happens when things get this onerous: 1984 was another such statement.

I read the comments at the NYT. My takeaways:
1. Trump hatred was very subdued - still there, but no Hitler references.
2. Two commenters switched from Biden to Trump. No commenter switched from Trump to Biden.
3. Many commenters wanted Biden to step aside - not necessarily because they didn’t like Biden but because they thought another Democrat would fare better.
4. Some commenters wanted Biden to be more openly pro Palestine. No pro Israel commenters.
5. Lots of questioning of the validity of all the polling.

Signed bipartisan infrastructure bill
Created the CHIPS act so we don’t need to rely on China for chips
Signed Inflation Reduction Act largest increase towards clean energy and climate change EVER. Yes he’s old but
I’ll vote for him again!!”
I went back to the comment section to find the above comment.
Several more pro Trump comments showed up.
Here are 3 interesting new comments:
1. “How could Dems say that democracy will die if Trump is elected but keep President Biden as a candidate knowing he’s going to lose? Also you have to factor in all of the people that were scared to actually say Trump so this could be undercounting his support.”
2. “Out loud I say 'I won't vote for Biden because of what he did and didn't do in the Middleeast. In my heart I say 'I would never ever vote for Trump'. In my mind I know I have to vote and I will. I am an American in pain.”
3. “Here’s what I see: I live in a now-barely blue area of Hispanic voters. Most men are blue collar or in law enforcement. The vibe is manliness and large trucks. These are friendly people who have done well post-pandemic.
And yet? They’re soft on Biden and warming to Trump. An increasing number of their women partners are doing same. Why? They are privately disgusted by the perception of the effete Democrat and prefer traditional gender roles.”
What surprised me the most about the comment section is - there were zero pro Israel comments. I just don’t understand that.

Here are 3 more interesting comments:
1. “First, know this:
Biden's unpopularity (any politician) is largely about money.
The big numbers on the sign as we pull into the gas station. The price we see at the egg section in the market.
So here's the only message for voters:
Everything will be MORE expensive with Trump.
Say this:
1) he wants 10-15 percent tariffs on stuff you buy.
Stuff we import. Money out of your pocket instantly.
2) he will repeal the Affordable Care Act.
So, working class voter, your child covered up to age 26 on your policy now is suddenly uninsured.
You either pony up the money for a policy or risk everything you have if they need extensive care.
(my friend's son- $1.5 million for 2 months in hospital. With ACA, covered. With Trump, she'd be homeless now. Tell that story)
3) Trump wants to pull us out of our international alliances. America First. That's America issolated.
Other nations will have clout, secure the world's resources and manufacturing and we'll lose out.
We'll pay for that. Trump "The Bankruptcy King" is coming for you and America.
Keep it simple.
Trump is very expensive.
The issue of immigration is just to large and difficult to fix prior to the election and Trump has masterly crafted it into the key election issue rather than abortion”
2. “Two horrible candidates. The less they say, the better they look. Biden should have just stayed in his basement like 2020. Trump is probably winning because he's off Twitter and distracted by legal issues.”
3. “I’m a progressive democrat and deplore trump. I’m also a 57 year old woman in tech. I resent that the oldest baby boomers are not stepping aside and making room for the next generation, minorities or women. This selfishness will get them what they deserve. See: RGB” and this reply: “I retired 1 year ago and none of the younger folks have stepped up to take the reins. I am an accountant, who still goes into the office twice a month to make sure the small business I left doesn't fall into accounting disarray. So, where are all of the folks who are supposed to step up”

To continue on this theme: the NYT/Sienna, amongst many others, shows Trump leading amongst Latino (sorry Howitzer Howard, not LatinX) voters 46-40 over biden's husk.

Recall in 2020 biden's husk and democratical/deep state cheating delivered a Latino majority for dems by 33 points: 65-32

A 39 point positive swing.

Most important: polls show emphatically these working class, working poor, non-working, increasingly diverse voters are NOT republican voters....they are, along with with white working class, union workers, rural voters, low propensity clearly, etc are Trump ONLY voters and that support for Trump does not translate to other republicans unless Trump is on the ballot.

These voters know the GOPe despise them and do not want them in the republican voter base.

At all...despite the fact the RNC post-2012 election debacle analysis called for much greater outreach and integration of these voters to help develop a more competitive electoral position for the GOP.

But in the end, as with so much of GOPe Failure Theater, they didnt mean it. Surprise!

This pure hatred of these voters by establishment GOPe supporters is also something we see frequently at Althouse blog by many of the usual GOPe suckups.

You don't have to like a high-performing employee that makes your business successful. It's nice, but not necessary. Just give him his head and let him do what he does.

The really likeable but ineffective employee, that you just can't bring yourself to get rid of because he's just 'such a good guy'. You wouldn't trust him with anything important, though.

I think people are realizing that 'popular' doesn't mean 'effective'. And maybe they don't have to LIKE the candidate if they can benefit from his actions and ideas.

The media, however, seems to be stuck in a middle-school lunchroom clique mindset. The 'right people' are in, the 'wrong people' must be kept out. The wrong people never have any good ideas, while nothing the right people come up with can possibly go wrong.

Maybe there's going to be a change, maybe there won't. But I think people are tired of the media-supported incompetents, and the narrative that they've got to be kept in charge or the country will collapse.

The commenters who wanted Biden to step down as a candidate will still vote for Biden (from my interpretation of their comments).
Shockingly, zero Biden supporters were pro Israel.
I am pro Trump (so keep that in mind as you read the following). And my observation is this: according to the 2020 census Jews make up 2.4% of the US population. But they comprise 8.8% of the New York State population, New Jersey 6.7%, Massachusetts 4.3%, Maryland 3.9%. That’s enough to help swing the election to Trump in those states. If Trump doesn’t win, the Republican Party will be in disarray and in no position to be helpful. The Biden administration (in my opinion) will be emboldened to try to dictate the terms of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict (since Israel is so dependent on US armaments) and those terms won’t be favorable to Israel. A weakened Israel will be bad for the world, bad for the US, and bad for American Jews. There are many reasons to vote for Trump. Among them is his pro Israel stance. Please consider this as you go to the polls to vote.
