My teabag tab this morning said, "Bring me the sunset in a cup -- Emily Dickinson." I wondered if she actually said it. She did.
Bring me the sunset in a cup Reckon the morning's flagons up And say how many Dew Tell me how far the morning leaps Tell me what time the weaver sleeps Who spun the breadth of blue!
The poem turns out to be more about morning than evening (assuming it's not about something altogether different).
I was pondering the significance of the message when I remembered that I got the same message from the herbal tea company yesterday and the day before. They are so insistent about it that I can't help wondering why it is so urgent.
Also, if anybody was wondering if I was on drugs last night...
nah
Unless serotonin or adrenaline or testosterone or estrogen (I got estrogen, right?) or caffeine count.
I think drugs are just an attempt to recreate our natural highs artificially. (Not a druggie so I probably sound like a virgin from drug store pre-school).
Also, my own opinion, liberals want to tranquilize everybody with Prozac and modulate us into non-excitement and non-passion. I prefer the natural ups and downs of my body, mind and soul, even if they can be a little exciting. I like the roller coaster, you know. Art thing.
I'm a pro-life Christian, so not one of your fans. But I am a respectful admirer of your honesty and your passion about the Woke insanity.
My fervent hope is that either you or Dave Chappelle or Jon Stewart runs for president in 2024. I am not kidding. I think the Democrat party is in serious trouble of being run over by Woke madness. I suspect Mr. Chappelle and Mr. Stewart (and every other comedian on the planet) knows this already. You would do your party and your country a great service by pulling a Trump and wrecking the shit out of the woke narratives that are destroying the Democrats.
If you wonder why I care, it's because I have a strong belief that two-party societies are way better than one-party societies. So I'd like to reform the Democrat party, not abolish it or wipe it out. This Woke shit is madness and I think many on the left are too scared to acknowledge it.
You can make a comedy show out of it. Bill Maher Runs For President! (Just like Donald Trump!).
I think you might surprise some folks.
Also, and this is just an aside, I warn you -- you will get fierce pushback from some African-American Democrat and he or she will tell you that you are anti-Christ and anti-Christian and you're not going to win the nomination when that happens. My opinion.
The next time you rant about Christians you might think of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and saying your shit about him. Picking on white Christians is cheap theatrics for your cheap woke audience. Black Christians will rip you to shreds if you aren't ready. Just a heads up, buddy.
Anyway, God bless. I hope you find peace in your heart and love in your life. Babies rule.
What happened to those boxes of evidence the FBI took from Mar-a-Lago? Trump lost his latest appeal weeks ago, so they've had plenty of time to digest them. So no November surprise I guess?
America is on the cusp of a Republican red tsunami to change course. There is only one person in the entire country who has the power to totally fuck this up.
An earlier version of this was posted earlier on Lawrence Person's blog, in response to a posting in which he noted that his internet was out, and it was a pain posting from his iPhone. I thought some here might appreciate the material in my reply as well.
One can use your iPhone as a tether (a.k.a. hotspot) to feed internet access into a computer. (But be careful you don't get charged a lot extra by your carrier for passing too much data that way. Cell-phone carriers such as Verizon charge differently for hotspot-provided internet data, versus internet-data accessed and presented internally within your phone — even if that “internal” internet-derived data is then shipped out an HDMI port and onto a big-screen TV.)
It's possible, however — irrespective of the presence or absence of a desktop or laptap computer for it to tether to — to turn your iPhone into a more generally usable computer system, by:
a) Connecting your iPhone through one of Apple's iOS HDMI dongles to an external (I recommend at least 4K resolution, so text and other figures are crisply sharp) TV. (Mine is a 42" Sony 4K TV with 4 HDMI [+ other] inputs, which cost $400-some-odd a few years back; it provides good service.)
b) I recommend also connecting a bluetooth keyboard (e.g., such as this) to your iPhone. (The given keyboard — in addition to folding quite compactly — can easily switch between 3 different bluetooth- and 1 usb-wired device(s), so it's handy well beyond use with just one's iPhone. I have 2 iPhones along with 2 Mac computers I use mine (+ the TV) with; a Windows laptop must shift for itself.)
Note that Apple itself (disregarding the legions of apps available for the iPhone from others) provides powerful applications such as a decent word processor (Pages) and darn good spreadsheet (Numbers), which are both well done in my opinion, and which are especially handy (particularly the spreadsheet) when blown up on a big-screen, high-resolution HDMI monitor while being accessed via an external keyboard. (Put away that crappy on-screen iPhone keyboard — at least when you're home! Clear your phone's high-res., widescreen display for data.)
When accessing one's phone in this way, your iPhone's top physical surface — its touch-screen — functionally acts as just the mouse for your newly created (iPhone-based) desktop computer system. (One does need to glance at the phone's screen every now and then, to find one's way around — particularly when following links or selecting text or cells; otherwise much can be accomplished movement-wise in directing many apps using just the [bluetooth] keyboard's cursor keys.)
One might note that the Apple Command (Win = Command: when employing the foregoing exemplar keyboard) and Option (Alt = Option: ditto) shift keys when used with an iPhone (via a connected bluetooth keyboard) result in much the same behavior there (including the oftentimes extremely useful Undo — Cmd-Z) with the system and many apps, as they do on a Mac using its own native keyboard. (The various Apple Command keys in turn are largely similar in function to the bulk of the respective Control shifted keys on a Microsoft Windows OS computer.)
Other useful settings: I typically turn my phone on its side. Then, when web browsing using the iPhone's Safari browser, it's helpful touching the ‘AA’ icon to the left of the address bar for a given site, then select (perhaps) 50% zoom. One can also, via the same menu, select “Request Desktop Website.”
BTW, I want the change clocks ritual to continue. How long has it been since we started doing this? People have become accustomed to having this right for longer than 50 years now, only to be taken away willy nilly?
Precedent is important in preserving the stability necessary for a free people to endure and prosper.

Lovely photographs! Here we are getting our first good rains of the season and so lately early mornings have tended to be a bit of vaguely pale white sky tentatively clawing its way through the clouds.
The squirrel has finally given up braving the rain to beg for a peanut at my window; the return stopped being sufficient reward for the effort, I guess. No sign of the crows or jays today.
The Pope has also condemned 'transgenderism', so far as that goes; his Holiness seems preoccupied with other business just now, however. The remarks about FGM were occasioned by a journalist on the flight back to Rome from whichever heathen country his Holiness has been visiting; Bahrain, I believe.
I saw at the BBC the other day, in a story about the recent publicity attending the 'discovery' of the ruins of a Christian monastery in Saudi Arabia, the assertion ~ 'the Christian monasteries predated Islam but disappeared before it arrived'. A much more like explanation or partial explanation struck me but, eh, I'm not an historian of civilisation on the Arabian Peninsula.
Great news for Democrats: It appears Trump is attempting to queer DeSantis’ impending victory in Florida Tuesday, the same way he queered the 2021 Georgia Senate runoffs and handed the Senate to Kamala Harris.
Personally I am Mr. Power, and if it doesn't have Vanilla, I'm not eating it. Or putting it on my body. I forgot that's a cologne. Anyway, Blogger is bringing it. So what do y'all got?

Okay, so in my living room, I have a $1000 leather sofa, and a $100 deluxe dog bed, and a $10 leather chair my mom found at a garage sale. Guess which one is the best?
Leather chair. Oh my God. This was a decade ago, my mom, who likes to hunt in garage sales (I might have mentioned, we are from Scotland), was going through these nice people's stuff in their house and they came across a beautiful leather chair for $10.
My mom ordered her friend to sit in the chair so nobody else could buy it, and she called me in a panic.
"Taylor!"
"hey Mom."
"Taylor! Taylor!"
"Mom?"
"TAYLOR!"
"What?!"
"Are you there?"
"Mom, you called me."
"You have to come to this garage sale. I found a $10 leather chair. You won't believe it. Susan is sitting in it so nobody else can buy it."
"All right," I said. "Where are you?"
"Wheelock," she said. Or wherever the hell it was. "You need to get over here, asap, with your Jeep Cherokee, and we're going to put the leather chair in your Jeep Cherokee, before they raise the price. Oh my God."
"Mom, where are you going to put a leather chair?"
"It's not for me! We don't have room for a leather chair."
"I know. So--"
"Taylor, this is for you."
"Me? I don't need a leather chair."
"Are you kidding? Where do you sit in your living room?"
"Uh, well, you know, that leather sofa y'all bought me for Christmas..."
"The one the dog sleeps on?"
"Well, yeah..."
"The $1000 sofa that you never use and the dog sleeps on?"
"Mom, I'm sorry about the sofa, okay? It's not long enough and the stupid cushions won't come up--"
"Taylor!"
"What?"
"Are you coming?"
"Am I coming where?"
"Here! Now! To pick up this leather chair! It's $10. They're going to raise the price. People are looking at it. I told Susan she cannot get out of the chair."
"Okay."
"Get over here, now!"
"Yes ma'am."
Anyway, I just had a hell of a nap in my $10 leather chair. Best chair I ever had.

Republicans Are So Close To Power They Can Smell It
So the question for all the hillbillies out there, since we have a lot of Republicans, is a simple one.
What does power smell like?
I'll go first.
Burnt Marshmallows
Sort of like this fucking monster, cooking over a red flame, on Tuesday. Delicious!
I also asked Blogger what power smelled like.
50 Cent Cologne
Pepper
Petitgrain Artemisia
Woodsy Notes
Coriander
Nutmeg
Patchouli
Musk
Oakmoss
Do you see it? Musk!
Personally I am Mr. Power, and if it doesn't have Vanilla, I'm not eating it. Or putting it on my body. I forgot that's a cologne. Anyway, Blogger is bringing it. So what do y'all got?
Gorgeous beyond words.

and double the number of potential winners?
