Has the media harden us to the plight of domestic chimpanzees? I wouldn't view a wandering chimp as a whimsical character, but as a potential face ripper-offer. Good for the zookeeper, I wouldn't get near that thing.

There's an episode of Hogan's Heroes where the local zoo gets bombed during an errant air raid and lots of animals escape. Sergeant Carter befriends an escaped chimpanzee that the the prisoners name Freddie. Because there are so many soldiers around gathering up the escaped animals, our heroes cannot get out to deliver a needed radio part to the underground. [Spoiler on a 50 year old tv show ] They eventually are able to make the transfer by dressing Freddie in a small jacket, stashing the radio part in his pocket, sending him off with Schultz to the zoo, and having the underground pick it up from there.
So somebody in the Ukraine and/or Russian military better check that raincoat for radio parts.
