Writes Peter Bradshaw in "Anne Heche was a little too stylish and smart for Hollywood/A striking presence in films from Psycho to Wag the Dog, her spiky intelligence did not help her in a town that likes its female leads conventional" (The Guardian).
RIP Anne Heche.
Here she is in "Wag the Dog":

She was a photogenic person with serious emotional problems. Tailor-made for being a starlet.
Hollywood delights in recruiting beautiful people and feeding their self-destructive natures.
Sorry she died. She had a troubled life.
Six Days and Seven Nights...I love that movie. Also enjoyed Men in Trees...her TV series. I hope that she was not aware of her horrible situation and passed in peace.
Don't do drugs, kids. Even if (or especially if) you think you're stylish and smart or often radiate a sophisticated refusal to be intimated, or have spiky intelligence.
She claimed her closeted gay father, who died of AIDS, began raping her as an infant and kept it up till she was 12. I’m sure a lot of gays weren’t happy with her about that and gays control a lot of Hollywood both from positions of real power and from the underside. They are the Deep State of the entertainment industry. Which is why they thought they could use Disney to punish Floridians for not wanting their toddlers indoctrinated with mental illness and perversion.
My female lead catalog says I've watched Armed Response, Blackout, Six Days Seven Nights, Spread, The Juror, Volcano and Wild Card. I remember only Six Days Seven Nights (Harrison Ford), and one other that I didn't finish, I think Spread, owing to boring comings and goings.
Not as appealing as Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock, a harder edge that probably appeals to somebody else. More of a bitch edge than a smartness edge.
If one reads her wiki page, it would reveal that Heche had many issues, none of them small. Most of her siblings pre-deceased her. As stated above, her father was off the radar screen. Her mother became a born again Christian, so of course Heche was estranged from her.
"sexually charged opaqueness"
What does that mean?
Sister of Icarus.
In the clip she talked the talk, even if somewhat haltingly. She did not know how to improvise, her commie fucks were poorly paced. She also needed some training in how to smoke a cigarette.
Fox site and others comments pretty trashy. Kinda like leftist comments whenever something terrible happens to a republican
People should not drive under the influence. Does not mean they deserve a fiery death.
Heard on the radio today that before AH's crash, she had just done a podcast (not hers) and said during the podcast 'she had been drinking'. No word if she drank during the podcast.
Word to podcasters, if you serve your guest, call an uber or lyft.
"sexually charged opaqueness"…
The subtleties of Pheromones?
"sexually charged opaqueness"
Opaqueness is a matter of degree, from diaphanous to impenetrable. In ancient times the Opaque projector displayed a surface view, a piece of paper; but a transparency displayed all except the opaque.
Sexually charged opaqueness is a mystery of words. I will try poetically, when she was positively aroused sexually she became hard to understand. When not, or negatively, aroused sexually she was easily understood.
Aside from the fact that she was crazy...
I feel sorry for her troubled life. Hopefully she will Rest In Peace.
I was unaware that her father raped her. That's gotta fuck someone up big time.
it supports my theory that a significant percentage of lesbians were sexually abused in adolescence.
I liked her in Return to Paradise.
If anyone needed to be in a conservatorship, it was her. Not Britney Spears.
I saw some of the movies rhhardin mentioned above. They were good movies, but I didn't retain any clear memories of her performances. She was a good actor but not a star. I think she attained more fame for her erratic behavior than for her roles.....She had to be a good actor. Her childhood was a shit storm, and she had to role play to get through it. Make the horrible things part of some tragedy you're performing in. The undertow caught up with her, but she put on a brave front for awhile. I'm glad she got a few moments of glitter and glory amid all that squalor and craziness. If God's keeping score, the world inflicted more pain and damage upon her than she ever did upon the world.
'"sexually charged opaqueness'"
"What does that mean?"
I may need the dolls for this one.
Did Harvey Weinstein ever get a hold of her?
How much of the drug use was to numb the pain? I'm sure her dad wasn't the only one to come onto her.
A pointless death of a woman who seems to have been a troubled soul.
Nil nisi bonum.
You need to have a high IQ to be a successful substance abuser. Otherwise you will fail quickly.
"Heard on the radio today that before AH's crash, she had just done a podcast (not hers) and said during the podcast 'she had been drinking'. No word if she drank during the podcast."
-- A lot of gossip sites reported this, without bothering to find out the details. It turned out that she had recorded that podcast three days before the crash.
More recently, they've been reporting that doctors found drugs in her system. Later it turned out that the doctors weren't sure whether if they were painkillers that were administered to her in the hospital after the crash.
People seem anxious to say this happened due to substance abuse, because that makes it easier to blame her than if it resulted from a mental-health crisis. But no one actually knows the reason at this point.
She was a poor unfortunate soul. Stylish and smart? Not that I could see. There's a temptation to create a Marilyn or James Dean or Janis Joplin legend about everyone who dies before their time. Still it's sad, and I hope her kids are okay
Anyone see the excellent satire Bowfinger? Heather Graham's character slept her way right up the movie food chain and then suddenly became a lesbian to take the next step to sleeping with a studio head, and everyone knew that Steve Martin was zinging Anne Heche--who he was dating at the time.
It's sad she died, but she was a ambitious starfucker whose career went absolutely nowhere once she wasn't hot enough to find someone powerful enough to demand she be cast in a decent role. And she wasn't much of an actress to begin with.
She was on a soap opera I use to watch. She wasn’t as hard edged back then. My husband had a huge crush on her and would come home for lunch, plant himself in front of the tv and shushed anyone making noise. Yeah, he was in the Army and spent his lunch watching a daytime soap.
I watched a video clip from a doorbell cam, purporting to be Heche in the seconds before the crash.
Quiet suburban street. Screeching sound approaching, then a Mini doing maybe 50 zips past. Three or four more seconds of receding screeching, then a distant BANG.
Lucky no one else was killed. It was also reported that this was her third crash. That day. I have not checked that last bit.
She was on a soap opera (Another World) years ago. She stood out even then. Her book that was released on 9/11/01 "Call Me Crazy" is going for over $200 on Amazon. I have a copy. May have to consider selling to pay for gas in this economy!!
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the same industry that routinely shames people nowadays for not being woke enough wrecked Heche's career in the late 90s after the Ellen breakup.
She got enough media buzz many years ago to make her name useful for news and social media to report on her death for clicks. As they say in Hollywood, "Next"
Wait, Heather Graham going lesbo? I may have to watch Bowfinger.
Ann Heche's crash came shortly after the Windsor Hills crash in which a nurse plowed into a crowd after a fight with her boyfriend. Six people died including a baby that was ejected from one of the cars. Following a few Reddit posts about the incident, in which people close to the first responders were chiming in, apparently many first responders were put on leave and ordered into counseling as the scene was so horrific.
For fuck's sake Angelenos, do you really have to take your cues on how to drive from Grand Theft Auto? You couldn't pay me enough to drive in that city.
She may have wanted to be "cool," but she came across as brittle -- whether because of feistiness or because of neurosis -- and anything but cool.
