"If you can’t understand or name what the battle is that you’re in, then it’s hard to show up to do battle."
"But for parents of color, Black parents in particular, they practice Critical Race Theory all the time. You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’ you’re talking about Critical Race Theory. It means you’re aware of the legacies of racism. We continue to shape our lives based on it and you’d be crazy to act as though we don’t. If you didn’t, you’d be totally ill-prepared to navigate life in this country as a Black or brown person. So our objective is to allow people to see that Critical Race Theory isn’t some alien abstraction; it’s the sum total of our experiences.
Critical Race Theory came out of us coming into these institutions and saying the problem isn’t just racist people. The problem is in the law and the problem is in sociology and education. It’s all of these institutions that were created when we were not part of them and they justified us not being a part of them. So now, we’re going after the structures of justification."

We’re doomed.
Same old. same old. The inherent racism of leftist ideology. Races are monolithic blocks. They are incapable of any behavior that does not define them as a race.
Crenshaw has trouble discerning "theory" from dogma.
‘You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’…’
I’m sure it’s much different than ‘the talk’ I had with my children: ‘Rule Number One: Life ain’t fair, because if it were, one of you would be Chinese - and that would suck.’ But, I raised my children to be winners, not whiners…
Amazing the quick slide from the kind of talk that parents must have with their children to a comprehensive ideology of societal deconstruction. Those two are not the same thing and it is disingenuous to say they are.
Again with the "talk". This assumes the children have parents who talk to them, or any parents at all.
CRT proponents, such as Ibram X. Kendi, assert that all racial disparities in outcomes between black people and white people are the result of racism. Educational attainment, IQ, wealth and income, crime, family stability, etc. -- all of the pathologies that differentiate one group from another are a result of racism practiced by the dominant group (whites) against the victim group (blacks).
What I've not seen, read or heard, beyond the assertion, is any proof of this. Isn't that supposed to be what social science is about: testing theory against reality, to see if it stands up? Yet this theory, CRT, is apparently immune to testing and falsification (much like CAGW, which seems to require censorship to protect it).
Is it the case that no one can construct a test to determine whether racism is the driving force behind the failure of the black community to attain outcomes that whites on average do? I don't think so. Social science is not as amenable to experimentation, measurement and evaluation as the hard sciences are, but why do we not see any real effort to apply science to the CRT assertions? I suspect it's due to fear of contradiction.
You are white supremacy and white privilege. If you disagree with anything I say, it proves you are white supremacy and white privilege.
Rolling in "brown" people is becoming problematic. They don't really want to be included in the struggle, as evidenced by their GOP votes. I live in AZ, where if you aren't bilingual you aren't eligible for about half the available jobs. Guess what? We don't care. This has been our community for a long time. If you have a grievance to claim, go ahead. Just stop pretending everyone else who isn't "white" joins you.
Please lower your crime rate.
At least against Jews and Asians.
Thanks.
You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’ you’re talking about Critical Race Theory.
yep! and THAT is what's Wrong with ‘the talk’.
If Blacks were taught, that the race they are members of, was the HUMAN race, it would help Blacks
If Blacks were taught, that the race whites are members of, was the HUMAN race, it would help Blacks
according to Critical Race Theory, the following, is THE MOST RACIST STATEMENT OF ALL TIME:
All Lives Matter
We continue to shape our lives based on it and you’d be crazy to act as though we don’t. If you didn’t, you’d be totally ill-prepared to navigate life in this country as a Black or brown person.
yep, you'd have to navigate life as a human person.. Can't Have THAT
We have our own version of the talk here. I had it with my wife last year when she started to go into Center City Philadelphia once every week or so. I sat her down and told her that she can never relax when she is walking down the street, even in broad daylight. She should always use store windows as mirrors so she can see who is behind her. Always be looking at least a half block ahead and if you see a potential threat, cross the street right away. A threat is:
Any mentally deranged person of any color. They can turn violent in a second. I have seen that.
Any group of black teens. A 57 year old white woman was beaten by 3 teen girls last week. As they did it they screamed "We hate whites"
I could go on but I would be accused of profiling.
If there is a battle I don't want to lose it. If parts of society have declared war on me, I just have to accept it and act accordingly.
So, law is inherently anti-Black. That's why we cannot have police, i.e., law enforcement, in any jurisdiction with a Black population.
Education, inculcating self-discipline, mastery of reading, writing and math, time management and deadlines (all reinforced by periodic testing) is also inherently anti-Black. We cannot have testing, grading or schools whose admission is based on relative merit or mastery.
Except for the racial characteristics of its expositors, how is Critical Race Theory any different from the most extreme version of 19th Century racism, which insisted that Blacks were inherently incapable of living in Western Civilization?
White kids also get “the talk”. This woman speaks of CRT as a way to keep black people dependent on white people. What a defeatist ideology! Black people will never advance if they embrace CRT. I fail to see how anyone can see CRT as a good thing for young blacks. CRT belongs where it started - as a fringe ideology in academics. It is like many academic theories that have little or no value in real life.
"The Talk" is aimed at white people, not black people. Just as Derbyshire's response is aimed at black people.
Any chance that there might be some part of your problems that might not be solely and exclusively due to racism?....There's a chicken or egg thing here. That bodega worker that recently got arrested for murder: How does he fit into critical race theory? That mother who sicced her boyfriend onto him: When she delivers "the talk" to her child will she truly teach that child how to navigate racism?
Andrew said: "Please lower your crime rate.
At least against Jews and Asians."
I would add, against Black people.
Instead of inculcating your kids with the idea that the world in front of them is going to be racist and that they are up against it, here's an idea: Teach the kids to be a part of the greater community. Focus on your own communities taking part in the civil society that is ready and waiting for you to join in. Starting with two parent families. A focus on parenting, the kids, schools, education. That's the ticket up and out- for everyone. Praising the good in your communities and chasing out the bad, instead of praising obviously abnormal behavior and calling it 'Black'. Twerking on the New York subway is not 'black', it's just a bizarre degradation. Don't call working hard, showing up on time, studying as 'acting White', but instead a way to move forward. Every other group has come here and found their way. Everyone else is still waiting for the Black community to join into the greater society and yet, today, the Black community is more separate than ever. And an entire industry- a Billion dollar industry- has been invented to keep it so. It's become profitable to keep it so. But everyone else wants this to end, already. Enough. We're all tired to death of watching another generation of Black kids disappear into the abyss of the cities. But it has to start with the Black community coming to grips with it's place in America and the world. A civil society will welcome anyone civil to join them. We're waiting.
But do not come to an entire population born in this world today and ask them to pay and pay and pay for the slavery of generations ago. All peoples have been enslaved over time. Or murdered by others. But future generations move on. Jews live in Germany today (at least for now). Tutsis and Hutus are living together in Rwanda today. I live with a Democrat.
Anything is possible, but you have to want it.
Any chance that there might be some part of your problems that might not be solely and exclusively due to racism?....There's a chicken or egg thing here. That bodega worker that recently got arrested for murder: How does he fit into critical race theory? That mother who sicced her boyfriend onto him: When she delivers "the talk" to her child will she truly teach that child how to navigate racism rather than pass along her own prejudices?
Do black people think white people don't also sit their kids down to have "the talk?" Because we all do.
The Democrat Party was founded on racism.
It cannot exist without racial division.
So it makes sure racism lives on forever in Government poiicy.
This foundation is a scam built on lies: “So now, we’re going after the structures of justification."
There are no structures that justify racism. There are people who do so. Racism is irrational hatred, which is what CRT spreads via children, the most vulnerable people in America. Teaching my child to hate others or be hated by others for the “sin” of being born white is evil. It is a twisted religion that replaces God with unlimited hatred. Counterfeit religions like CRT are what you get when too many people have rejected Natural Law the Golden Rule. Stand back and you can see the direct line through Naziism the KKK and BLM.
Lead article in this months ENDOCRINE TODAY: Genetics and racism contribute to racial-ethnic disparities in obesit and comormidities, by Jamy Ard, MD. Dr Ard is an obese Black male.
Derbyshire had “the talk” with his kids, and was cancelled after writing about it.
What about the talk where you explain to your teenager that they are going to need to have an SAT score far above some of their contemporaries to have a shot at a good college, if they are white or Asian?
Or a talk where white teens are told that their lives will be ruined if they are caught on camera singing along with certain hip-hop songs?
I meant “Natural Law AND the Golden Rule.” They go together.
"Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?"
Probably because you see it as a battle.
Sum total jumped right out me. I would say if you think of any one thing as the sum total of your experiences you are insane. You have falsely colored your view with that one thing and see it even when it is not there.
There's an autobiography, "Angela's Ashes" about growing up poor in Ireland. The characters are forever remaining poor and lamenting "What the English have done to us for 400 long years."
Finally, in the 90's, Ireland stopped complaining about the Brits and started working on skills and education and entrepreneurship. Pretty soon, people were talking about "The Celtic Tiger".
Just a thought.
Critical Racists' Theory presumes diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment, class-based bigotry) that denies individual dignity, individual conscience, intrinsic value, and normalizes color blocs (e.g. "parents of color"), color quotas (e.g. Jew privilege), and affirmative discrimination (e.g. sexism). It is a dogma of the Pro-Choice ethical religion adopted by Progressive Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, Corporations, Clinics, Agencies, etc. under the color of law to sustain social progress: one step forward, two steps backward.
Baby Lives Matter (BLM)
"But for parents of color, Black parents in particular, they practice Critical Race Theory all the time."
So state the theory. Let's examine its assumptions, test it against the facts. I say the theory says: whitey caused our problems.
"You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’ you’re talking about Critical Race Theory. It means you’re aware of the legacies of racism."
So let's hear the talk, examine its assumptions, and test it against the facts. I say the talk is a form of racial misdirection and blame-shifting. Let's start with violence--black-on-black violence, and black-on-white violence.
" it’s the sum total of our experiences"
But a theory isn't a set of experiences. It's a way to interpret and account for them. So let's hear the account and test it.
"the problem isn’t just racist people. The problem is in the law and the problem is in sociology and education. It’s all of these institutions that were created when we were not part of them and they justified us not being a part of them."
Ah, getting somewhere. "The problem" is left unstated, but presumably it is that blacks still get a raw deal, don't get as much stuff, lead harder lives. But who "justifies" government, business, schools as "us not being part of them"? I call BS on the premise.
"Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?"
Actually, it's a threat to basic mental health. Beyond that, the point is to undermine the raaacissst system. CRTers are more subversive than any J6 "rioters."
It's been my observation that the person screaming "RACISM!!".........is the racist.
Educated blacks are the most privileged group in the country.
"Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?"
For the same reason Jim Crow was threatening to Black People.
It targets people for persecution/favoritism based on the color of their skin.
It is racism in action and deed.
It is an evil ideology pushed by evil people.
"We continue to shape our lives based on it and you’d be crazy to act as though we don’t." Immigrants from Africa assuredly do NOT do this.
Crenshaw has trouble discerning "theory" from dogma.
Good point.
What is this "talk" Kimberlé Crenshaw is referring to:
Maybe it's, "Obey the law and if you are confronted by an armed authority, be polite and do what they say". If so, great! This advice will help to keep your kid alive and out of trouble.
Somehow I doubt that this is "the talk" Crenshaw wants: Whenever a black criminal gets caught doing crimes and very stupidly gets himself shot, BLM is on the scene and it's always the fault of the police.
It seems to me, that "the talk" is aimed at white people, who should feel guilty when a black criminal gets themselves shot. I'm not sure why I should feel guilty or how it would help anyone. Maybe I need a talk, to get my mind right.
After a Halloween party where a friend threw eggs at a squad car and we had to run from the dogs our parents had the Talk too.We were not POC.CRT is an excuse for non universal standards of behavior by one group based on ethnicity. How is this it outright racist?Oh yeah they deny logic.
BRAINWASHING UBER ALLES.
As Thomas Sowell said about social justice, Critical Race Theory is an actual impediment to the development of human capital. It shouldn't be threatening to white people, they should teach their kids to ignore it. Leave it to the kids of color to use as an excuse to not get ahead.
Critical Race Theory says, you, white people, no matter how hard you try, you will never undo the racist culture created by a century of Democrat Party pushed Jim Crow apartheid in the South and racial discrimination in all the country. So really, just stop. For 50 years, people tried to overcome race bias, but the "experts" have spoken and it cannot be overcome.
Critical Race Theory is so threatening to white people because it says, you will never succeed in developing a society where people ware judged by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin, even as the old Democrat racists of the Civil Rights movement opposition are dying off from old age
Because society cannot survive with CRT. It is extremely divisive. Countries have fought multiple civil wars over less fundamental divisions. Widespread implementation of CRT will result in civil war, totalitarianism, or both.

Women are far more coddled and privileged as a group. From a macro statistical POV it is the male female divide that is a much more stark divide than white/black.
Men go to jail 20 times more often. Men die at work at ten times the rate. Twice as many women end up with college degrees. 4 times as many men commit suicide. Life expectancy is several years shorter.
The statistics are damning.
Presentation has a lot to do with it. Is no one concerned that large employers approach their employees with the idea that "you think you are a good person be we know you are not. Management knows what's in your subconscious better than you do" ????
Who the fuck elected my employer to judge my soul?
Black immigrants move out of black neighborhoods because of crime and crappy schools. Black flight is a thing.
Critical race theory is more threatening to black people and society in general than to white people. It's about fake history, black kids (mostly) growing up ignorant, forgiving black criminals.
The CRT hucksters know this, but they are relishing their day in the sun. The black culture being promoted by race baiters and Democrats is a cancer. The question is: Will the rest of us, including responsible blacks, permit it to destroy the country.
Says Kimberlé Crenshaw, quoted in "Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?
Why is Kimberlé Crenshaw such a racist pig?
Decent human beings oppose racism. Racism is "treating people differently based on the color of their skin".
But for parents of color, Black parents in particular, they practice Critical Race Theory all the time
Not unless they're worthless racist pigs like you are, Kimberlé
You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’ you’re talking about Critical Race Theory
No, you're telling your kids how to live life with their heads not up their backsides.
At least, all the versions of "The Talk" I've seen have boiled down to "don't be an idiot", and are rules that I've always tried to follow
It means you’re aware of the legacies of racism
CRT is about obsessing about past harms, and making sure they're extended into the future. So it's the domain of the stupid and the evil
If you didn’t, you’d be totally ill-prepared to navigate life in this country as a Black or brown person
But entirely set up to navigate life as a functioning human being
Of course, that's just what Kimberlé wants: people with miserable lives whose resenment causes them to support her preferred political candidates
Critical Race Theory came out of us coming into these institutions and saying the problem isn’t just racist people. The problem is in the law and the problem is in sociology and education. It’s all of these institutions that were created when we were not part of them and they justified us not being a part of them. So now, we’re going after the structures of justification.
The problem is that the "problems" you claim to "see" are in fact rules needed by any institution that wishes to be functional.
Showing up to work on time is not "white supremacy". Neither are 99.99999% of the other things CRT complains about.
When you start with failed premises, everything else is guaranteed to be garbage
We go the talk too.
Stay out of almost all areas of Oakland, and when in San Francisco avoid the Tenderloin and Hunters Point.
Don't even think about going to Richmond, even at high noon.
"We continue to shape our lives based on it and you’d be crazy to act as though we don’t."
The assumption that any black male under 50 is likely to attack you? Check.
"Crenshaw is a leading scholar of Critical Race Theory and is largely considered one of the smartest people in America. "
I found that sentence, umm, odd. It reads like something a 15 year-old would write.
When they have "the talk" about CRT do they describe it to their kids as "a theory"?
Or is the science settled?
The only two actual racists I know, who have said many racist things over the years that I've known them, are both dark-skinned women.
Kimberle Crenshaw = Enemy
I recently had "the talk" with my 40 year-old child before he left with his wife and children on a vacation trip. I told him to make sure his car was full of gas before he approached the Atlanta area since there are car-jackings and shootings at gas stations and convenience stores daily in that area.
In fact, I suggested he map his trip to avoid the Atlanta area altogether even if it added an hour to their trip. I told him not to trust google maps since it would send him into the worst part of towns and into the arms of the criminal element. I told him to make sure he and his wife always kept their legal carry firearm on their person. I told him and my d-i-l not to let my grandchildren out of their sight for even one minute during their trip.
Is that the "talk" blacks have with their children?
Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?
Because if white succumb to the claims of CRT and the accompanying guilt trip, they will hear no end of it ever.
And there appears to be no provision of forgiveness in the theory.
The trouble is how much anti-intellectualism is in this 'debate' over CRT. Hardly anyone is actually focusing on CRT, which has a distinct methodological perspective on the role of race a primary determining factor in oppressing. CRT is not just having "the talk" that race is an issue in society. So too opposition to CRT isn't about trying to hide the worst parts of America's past (though some do want to do that) and ignore racial strife. Not at all.
Both sides become anti-intellectuals in conflating wider issues/concerns with this specific method of analysis/response. Progressives, curiously tend to be a lot more anti-intellectual in this way as they are trying to rhetorically conflate issues/concerns so as to mandate CRT analysis.
My problem with CRT isn't the fact that we need to be very honest about racism or history. My problem with CRT is that it really seems to almost entirely erase/dismiss the many other sources and expressions of oppression that happen all over society and all over the world. If we only focus on race, we allow and even encourage oppression from these other forms, which are much, much more common, as it is much more common to be oppressed by someone who shares your race than someone who doesn't, even in the US but almost absolutely so globally.
CRT just isn't a sufficient analysis for the very thing it claims to do.
Education, inculcating self-discipline, mastery of reading, writing and math, time management and deadlines (all reinforced by periodic testing) is also inherently anti-Black. We cannot have testing, grading or schools whose admission is based on relative merit or mastery.
This is all considered "white behavior" by the criminal class that profits off black's inferiority sense. I taught medical students for 15 years. Each year, about 1/3 of my group was black. All but two were African or West Indian. Getting into medical school is a real test of accomplishment or used to be. The two American blacks had a very hard time and one flunked out. The African kids tried to help him but he just could not make it. Lest one think class or wealth was a factor, one African girl was a refugee from Eritrea. She lived with her grandmother and was too poor to afford a microscope.
The other American black was odd and I wondered if he was schizophrenic. He could not talk to patients and one threw him out of her room, very rare behavior. I finally figured out the problem. His parents were Black Panthers in Oakland and he had never talked to white people. I eventually wrote out a script for him to use taking a medical history. That seemed to work and he continued on.
Middle class white dad in suburbia and I am racist. I used Chris Rock’s video “How Not to Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police” as a teaching aid with my very white sons when they were learning to drive. It’s a hand guide for what not to do on a traffic stop. I later learned that Rock was racist so by extension I guess I am too.
One interesting statistic that no one ever talks about is that young white men have worse outcomes with the police when involved in felony stops. F you aren’t having these conversations it is parental malpractice.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uj0mtxXEGE8
I once got a threatening phone call on my answering machine that used my name and was fairly specific, and I worried that it might have been meant for a black social worker in Cambridge with the same name as me who I had occasionally run across over the years. So I called the police, out of concern that something might happen to the other Left Bank of the Charles.
When the policeman came to take my report, he seemed surprised, like he was expecting someone else. I told the whole story, played the tape for him, and he said they would look into it. Nothing came of it. A few weeks later, I read in the Cambridge Chronicle that the other Left Bank of the Charles had won a $70K jury verdict from the Cambridge Police Department for false arrest. The threatening phone caller was most likely a cop, threatening him on the eve of his civil trial.
I, a white person, have been profiled for being black on other occasions too. I’ve never been falsely arrested, and that’s my white privilege.
Dear K, look at all the exposure and money POC are getting in sports, TV shows, commercials, job hires, print ads, newspapers, blogs, movies - far beyond the 13% of the population they represent. Wasn't always that way but that's how reparations really work in a capitalistic society. It's happening right now. Did you not attend the best schools? Are you not making money getting published and from speaking engagements? S'all good.
"The talk"
my dad had a "talk" with me too. He told me not to steal or cheat. Dont speed 20 miles over the limit. You will get pulled over. Dont fight with the police. You cant arrest them.
I understood.
I think we had different talks and different outcomes.
Next.
Truth be told I was arrested in 1985 for possession of pot
In chicago of all places. Honestly, prior to that i may have been caught with pot 5 times, never an issue. I think they were going to let us go and I think my buddy winked at me while we sat in teh patrol car as if to say, "theyre gonna let us go, its chicago cops" and they saw it and next thing I know im in a paddy wagon. Wait, what? Who knows
Fighting the cops was the last thing on my mind.
BTW, jail sucks. maybe 15 hours.....and it was the worst feeling. You cant just leave.
I spent more time in the bin than todays killers.
Your personal struggles and difficulties are not my fault. Mine are not your fault. I wish you the best, but I will not let you pretend that it's my fault.
"Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?"
Funny question.
From one perspective – the one that is supposed to be mine, no matter how I may try to minimize it or deny it: As A White Male – I don't find it in the least threatening. Because if I actually wished minorities to remain at a severe disadvantage, I would wish that some evil genius could brainwash them into believing this stuff and living their lives accordingly.
That's if I bought into the premise of the racial extremists: That black and white fortunes are zero-sum. For them to be better off, I must be made worse off.
Since I don't, I detest critical race theory for doing its best to make race central, when it never should have been so important. For discouraging blacks from following the only paths that I believe have made their situation better than it was in living memory. For anointing "leaders," white and black, who I think are cynical charlatans. And most of all, for teaching that historical racial injustices, far from being a betrayal of America's ideals, are those ideals.
"If Blacks were taught, that the race they are members of, was the HUMAN race, it would help Blacks"
If whites were taught that blacks are members of the HUMAN race, no different than whites, and to think of them and treat them as such, it would help blacks.
"You sit your kids down for ‘the talk,’ you’re talking about Critical Race Theory. "
I would love to know who started this bizarre idea that white people don't have "the talk" with their children?
I think more people of all colors should have "the talk", because most of black people who have died and become heroes to the BLM would actually be alive if they had done what the cops said when they were being arrested.
Not Breanna Taylor, not Philandro Castille. But almost everyone else.
Institutional CRT is all about anti-white discrimination. Not interested.
We continue to shape our lives based on it and you’d be crazy to act as though we don’t.
So you're admitting you're an out-and-out racist. Thanks. It's not like we didn't know it before, but it helps.
"Structures of justification" is academic-speak for "The common sense explanations for why everyone equally deserves fair treatment". And they are indeed attacking those concepts. And people must resist Kimberle and her epigones.
Much is at stake.
Of course it's not their fault they don't speak properly, go to school to learn anything, behave better than animals, etc. Must be the Man.
Since far too many blacks don’t have a father, then it’s the mom giving the talk.
As soon as the kids retort, “Why aren’t our Dads around?”, the problem will persist.
10% of blacks in the US were born in other countries. The talk they give their kids is work hard, don’t be an idiot, and quit whining.
The sheriff in Lilburn, GA, just had "the talk" with the white people in Gwynette County. His talk was about how to avoid being robbed, carjacked, and/or murdered by Crenshaw's peeps. Odd, that. While a law-abiding black person who shows respect for authority and doesn't run from the cops is extremely unlikely to be killed by said cops, a law-abiding white person who is just trying to get through his day has to radically change his routine in order to avoid being the target of black criminals.
CRT in the office means accusing people of being racist with no way for them to prove they are not. In schools it is even worse. And CRT slides on over into advocating the overthrow of America and the elimination of white people. Don't act so innocent, lady.
Unfortunately, here is how "the talk" goes in inner city black areas: "you can never win" "The police are your enemy" "studying is acting white" "just chill" "having a kid gets you a check" The talk that Chris Rock advocated in a monolog is never given: "if you get stopped by the cops, be polite, don't fight them" etc.
Let's take color and race out of the picture.
Your HS classmate has achieved a lot more than you in life. What are your possible responses:
1. Learn how your classmate did better in school, work, lifestyle and investing.
2. Blame your classmate for excessive privilege and sulk about your oppression and misfortune.
3. Accept it for what it is and move forward with your life.
Which reponses are adaptive and which responses keep you in a state of misery and dependence?
I'm reminded of Chris Rock's "talk"... (warning: language and "violence")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpjcdZpXrnk
I had the "talk" with my kids. If they ended up in jail, it's because they did something wrong. I would come visit them but I won't bail them out. Kids never ended up in jail.
Crenshaw understands how to manufacture leverage through em-pathetic appeal. A progressive vision with "benefits". Lose your religion.
A friend of mine, the nicest guy I've ever known, was murdered in Detroit in September 2020. The murderer is a black guy. He was supposed to be sentenced two weeks ago but they rescheduled for next month, case 21-002770-01-FC. The murderer's first name is Diabolique, if you can believe it.
Anyway this shit about "the talk" always makes me chuckle. Given the actual statistics on violent crime in America it seems like the talk most of us should have with kids is one people like Kimberle Crenshaw would condemn as racist. The only time I've ever testified in court it was in a case where a black kid (14 years old) was being prosecuted for breaking into my car. When a stray bullet hit my house, on the exterior of a wall I was on the other side of, it was a black man who fired the shot. Wanna guess the race and gender of the person who kicked in front door of my sister's old house and stole her TV and other miscellaneous items?
You want to talk about lived experience? You want to talk about trauma and sociology.
You know who's ill-prepared to navigate life? Someone who's been taught that they face the same amount of danger from all groups--that they're just as likely to be harmed by an old Asian lady as by a young black man.
I'm sure I'm exhibiting my privilege. But.
Go to school everyday
Graduate,
Go to college, trade school, Interships. Complete
Get married. Or not
Don't make babies until/unless you are married.
Do that, and the world is your oyster.

Well it won't help the "blacks" currently benefiting from all the racist programs, because then there would be no "Affirmative Action", no defining "Diversity" based on the color of people's skins.
So, it's precisely what I believe, and what I think we should be doing.
But it's completely and utterly opposed by the Left, and by the Democrat Party
Whites who hope for a just color blind society see young African Americans being taught to hate rather than to think. That is why we don't like CRT.
@Robert Cook "If whites were taught that blacks are members of the HUMAN race, no different than whites, and to think of them and treat them as such, it would help blacks." That is exactly what I was always taught, by my very liberal parents. Can you possibly be unaware that CRT people think that is an evil and dangerous sentiment that they are trying to stamp out?
Its race Marxism and it destroys what it touches.
Listening to some blacks is like listening to some teenagers...
"If only I was X and not Y, life would be so much easier."
Another try.
I was reading just the other day, alas I know not where, that sociologists are trying to figure out why non-white children of both sexes and white female children all seem to answer that white males are superior to males of other races and females of their own.
My guess it has something to do with them being taught that in every equal opportunity class even before CRT started up to really emphasize it. Yep, without special help, none of them can achieve what a white male can without any help, and even with obstacles placed in his way.
People believe what they're taught.
They also believe what they observe. White and Asian children believe, rightfully, that Blacks get special treatment and aren't punished for misbehavior that would get them into serious trouble.

"Why is Critical Race Theory so threatening to white people?"
Because like all creatures we know when we are being stalked.
I scanned the comments for mentions of slave/slavery and found only a single mention. As a retired historian, may I add a dimension to the discussion?
Historians with an economics perspective have studied the 20th century residual impact of slavery and the slave trade in several different nations … old world, new world and Africa. Here’s what they found:
1. In the Peruvian highlands, Spanish rulers took able bodied men, aged about 15 to 35, from villages that were the same altitude as Bolivia’s silver mines to labor producing silver since lowland dwellers weren’t efficient at high altitude. That practice went on for decades. In the 20th century those villages were poorer than nearby villages that were higher or lower than the Spanish targets for their “mita” system of forced labor. Stripping those villages of men who would have taught their sons about the value of hard work and shared in lifelong duties of marriage created the conditions where these communities didn’t know emotionally or practically how to labor smartly to add value to their lives.
2. In the American south the practice of selling slaves away from their families in states like Virginia to end up in places like Alabama destroyed family ties and prevented their establishment in the new cotton fields. With no teaching of how to live as families, this displacement meant there was no model for crafting a strong two-parent team that would teach their kids how to make better lives. It’s no wonder that black adults into the 20th found it hard to teach right behavior to their kids.
Should today’s black men and women work at training their kids to become responsible adults? Sure.
Should we say it’s all their fault — alone — that too many black youngsters don’t seem to learn the academic skills so necessary to succeed in our modern economy? Baloney!
Cut them a break … and figure out how to help those who end up on welfare for years and years to gain skills and mindsets that will not condemn their kids to also falling into the welfare trap.
3. In Africa, areas that were, for decades, places where slaves were captured in large numbers and shipped to the New World, ended up — in the 20th century — being poorer than neighboring areas that didn’t as frequently lose young men.
Jupiter: I make no such assumption. Having lived and worked in majority black industries in a majority black city run pretty much exclusively by blacks for decades, I have been protected on the streets and freight docks by more black men than white men. I thank God every day for the black nurses and techs and doctors who cared for my family. But every time, bar two, that I was predated, robbed, threatened, flashed, or assaulted was by black men. The white men were one convention salesman and a pervert law professor at Georgia State who was revered as a civil rights acivist.
I lived and worked in some dangerous places and worked with crime victims from those places, so I have experienced a lot of crime from different perspectives.
I always knew the vast, vast majority of black people were utterly decent, even in the face of generational adversity. I also know they face even more danger from the outsized subset of black criminals than other races do. It's people like you and that liar Kimberley Crenshaw who deny both black criminality and black victimization.
CRT is black superiority and Maoist encouragement of abusing whites -- imposed on captive audiences of students and employees. And it's working. I would not live in Atlanta now for any price.
Not just because of the unconstrained criminals. Because of the toxic hatred game being implemented by high status people on low status people by sick people like Crenshaw and you. You are the racist here. CRT is just the Klan, articulated and non-voluntary in the fire this time.

Thomas Sowell presents evidence and disagrees: "Nearly a hundred years of the supposed “legacy of slavery” found most black children [78%] being raised in two-parent families in 1960. But thirty years after the liberal welfare state found the great majority of black children being raised by a single parent [66%]."
A Legacy Of Liberalism

Sure, but it would be nice if you added an honest one, instead of the dishonest left wing BS that you did add.
As HoodlumDoodlum pointed out, the black illegitimacy rate went from 22% to 66% in 30 years of the "welfare state".
It's wasn't centuries of slavery that broke the black family, it was decades of "liberal" "help"
Blacks coming to the US from the Caribbean came from a similar history of slavery, but don't have the same issues local blacks do
It's the culture that's the problem. and it won't get fixed until people stop blaming everything other that which is actually the problem
