We should not have to be concerned with how the president manages to stay up long enough to deliver the address. It would be nice to be able to think that he has the stamina to carry out the normal duties of the job and would also be able to be awake and alert within moments if he had to be awakened during the night.

In Free Cell however it's real question whether one can win every game if one concentrates or whether chance sometimes can be too much for one.

I did watch all the way through--then didn't listen to any of the responses.
Nancy got smart and relaxed the mask mandates. It would have been a terrible visual disconnect if Joe blathered about how he handled the virus--but everybody there was wearing a mask. Most were not masked tonight--although I saw Fat Jer Nadler all masked up.
What struck me was that about a third of the chamber was empty--a lot of Congress critters simply did not show up. A lot of them were wearing blue and yellow tags or blue and yellow scarfs to signify unity with Ukraine.
Rather than taking shots at Trump Biden wisely didn't say anything about Trump.
Toward the end Biden got manic--he was practically screaming as he launched into his peroration. I figure the drugs really kicked in at that moment.
Watching the PBS pre-game, Judy Woodruff went on and on about how Joe is leading Europe in sanctioning Putin. I've been watching life feed European news (Sky, France24, DW) exclusively since since the invasion started, Biden is rarely mentioned.

He's not mentioned in European tweets either, including from on-the-ground in Ukraine. It is the European countries themselves doing everything, plus the EU and European Parliament, which today said that Russia's aggression was an existential threat to Europe, and United Nations, and more and more private companies on their own are disengaging from any business in or with Russia.
When the U.S. is mentioned by Ukraine officials, it is in a cursory way and as a diplomatic courtesy only.
Just like the things Biden reportedly promoted in the speech are things that others have been calling for for over a year, every move Biden has made regarding Ukraine has been a week behind Europe.
I tuned into Biden's speech at a random time and he was talking about US burn pits in Iraq and how that breathing the fumes from these burn pits made soldiers sick and gave them cancer.
This is an obsession of Biden's. Beau Biden was an officer in Iraq, but he was a lawyer who never saw combat. He sat at a desk & kept office hours. Nevertheless, ol' "Slow Joe" blames fumes from burn pits for the brain cancer that killed Beau Biden.

It’s wonderful that we again have a President whose public speeches we can safely sleep through.

The most interesting thing about the SOTU address was that at least two Democratic Congresswomen, Rashida Tlaib, speaking for the Working Families Party, and Cori Bush, speaking for the Congressional Black Caucus, gave formal responses to Biden tonight. I can't remember when a member of the president's own party took to the airwaves to give a formal speech criticizing the president's SOTU on the same night it was given. That's Biden's biggest problem. He can't even inspire fear or loyalty from the Democrats, let alone from the Republicans.

The PBS coverage was interesting. They wanted so much to talk about potential bipartisan initiatives but had to admit that the Republicans passed on almost all the "bipartisan" applause lines. They couldn't even get wee-weed up about Boebert's "Thirteen" shout, because the topic is too embarrassing. It seemed like the whole thing was such a downer and even their Never-Trump Republican commentators were letting them know.

40 times? If he went to both on the same trip, then it could have been 20 trips. Still sounds excessive. Yes, we were there 20 years, but, given the security needed for US senators and especially the VP, why?
The people who voted for Joe Biden need to give the sane among us all a deep, groveling apology, and I mean groveling on their knees.
People who realized that Joe would be a terrible President, but haughtily stuck their nose up in the air and declined to vote for Donald Trump anyway, they also need to grovel out an apology on their knees.

That was one of the things that puzzled me about Biden's SOTU. It seemed geared towards the low IQ audience. The Inga base is obviously locked in no matter what. No real need to cater to them, but how big can the "this is a country, this is another country, this is a war" contingent be? College kids majoring in gender studies?
I did enjoy the Pelosi show though. Comedy gold!
