From "Kyrsten Sinema's bathroom protest was a long time coming/The Kyrsten Sinema of 2003 would have been among the activists protesting her at Arizona State University" by Hayes Brown (MSNBC).
There's a big difference between "calling out" politicians and hounding them physically until they retreat into the dead-end space of a bathroom stall. That's a nightmare, and anyone who's proud of doing that to her ought never to claim to understand the problem of violence against women. Not that it's acceptable to treat a man like that. But getting trapped in a small, interior space by people who are yelling at you and coming at you is a woman's nightmare.

Thanks for the "acceptability" sop to us men. Here, however, is a bit of consciousness- raising for you: Getting trapped in a small, interior space by people who are yelling at you and coming at you is *any* human being's nightmare, one that is in no way exclusive to women. Sheesh.
Suck it up, women.
Not that it's acceptable to treat a man like that.
They don’t do it to men because we’d just turn around from the urinal and piss all over the front of their pants.
I wonder if the story gets written from this angle if the activists were Republicans.
I bet not.
This is also part of your "civility bullshit" tag. This is what the *exact same people* do right after they say Republicans are required to be "nice."
How the fuck does Hayes Brown know how the Krysten Sinema would have behaved in 2003?
Wild speculation.
Almost as wild as asserting that one knows what the climate of the entire planet will be in 2100.
These people are fucking insane.
So does Ms. Sinema want to consider getting a carry permit and some training in lawful self-defense? Or will she invest in a couple of 6’6” security guards who could reason with these idiots when they chase her into the ladies’ room?
Sinema will never change her vote.

But Wait! there's More! One of the people that trapped her in the bathroom, was apparently a self identified MAN! An illegal immigrant and a man stalk a college professor as she heads into a campus women's restroom. The professor, teaches two classes at the public university despite already having a full-time job in public service. The self-described illegal immigrant and the man then post this act as one of wokeness because the victim in question is Kyrsten Sinema, the woman with the audacity not to cave to the mob.
Well..if she actually went into the stall to use the toilet, I feel sorry for her! I would never be able to pee with a bunch of idiots yelling at me.
If a MAN followed AOC into a bathroom, and trapped her; While FILMING her;
ya think that MSNBC would be Super Cool about that?
If she actually went into the stall to use the toilet, I feel sorry for her. I would never be able to pee (let alone poop!) with a bunch of people standing outside yelling at me.
I wonder if Google is shutting Althouse Blog down.
This post would be a trigger point.
This is the end game for the statists.
They know the backlash is coming.
"Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., is unhappy that a group of progressive activists followed her into a bathroom over the weekend."
If she starts voting against everything "Progressives" want, and promises to continue doing so until they stop harassing her (which means: no more controversial Biden nominees getting confirmed), then we'll know she's actually unhappy with the behavior and wants it to stop.
If not, not.
"Leaving aside that Sinema doesn’t get to set the terms of how her constituents hold her accountable"
So, just to be clear here: if she votes for something her Trump supporting constituents don't like (note: every single person in AZ is one of "her constituents") and they start harassing her, no one gets to complain about that?
Or is this just more left wing thugs demonstrating they have no principles, and that every single decent human being must oppose them?
AOC is crying that she thought she was going to get murdered...and she wasn't even in the Capitol on 1/6/21. WAH. Sinema was harassed more than AOC ever was...and AOC got an hour television show out of it.
It's just part of the process.
"That's a nightmare, and anyone who's proud of doing that to her ought never to claim to understand the problem of violence against women."
There you go again with your foolish consistency. Progressive logic requires one set of standards for treating fellow lefties, another for others. Even their logic is situational.
Even in his 70s Buzz Aldrin was known to simply haymaker people who came up to harass him about the moon landing being fake. I think that approach to problem solving used to be learned in school playgrounds. It should come back into style.

This is an interesting idea.
I am 5'6".
But I think I could handle a good number of democrat thugs. These people are on the same moral level as the taliban.
It would be a pleasure to defend freedom against their like again.
I want them all to lose...
I believe Sinema is either a wily politician or has grown up and had her eyes opened about her slimy Democrat colleagues. Regardless, it is unlikely that her potty stalkers represent a significant portion of her Arizona constituency. There was a time when Arizona Democrats would have appreciated her resistance to partisan lunacy — back when I was a Democrat.
Certainly the Hayes Brown piece provides more evidence of the amorality of the MSNBC “journalists.”
It is only violence when my opponents do it.
It’s a class 5 felony in AZ:
The language of ARS 13-3019 states: “It is unlawful for any person to knowingly photograph, videotape, film, digitally record or by any other means secretly view, with or without a device, another person without that person’s consent under either of the following circumstances:
In a restroom, bathroom, locker room, bedroom or other location where the person has a reasonable expectation of privacy and the person is urinating, defecating, dressing, undressing, nude or involved in sexual intercourse or sexual contact.
In a manner that directly or indirectly captures or allows the viewing of the person’s genitalia, buttock or female breast, whether clothed or unclothed, that is not otherwise visible to the public.
- Krumhorn
The irony is that amnesty was pulled out of the reconiliation bill by the Parlimentarians ruling.
the second irony is that she is gaining GOP and indie support to match her progressive losses

The only difference between today's Democrat Party and the Moaists, Nazi's or Mussolini's regime is timeline.
They have already had their Krystalnacht and their Reichstag fire.
They all started with assault and battery and mob tactics. They have already been shooting police officers. They are jailing political dissidents and military officers like Col. Scheller.
They are the baddies.
Blogger has eaten the two comments I tried to post.
Can't I just excrete my waffle?
If the progs keep this up she might have an epiphany and become a Republican.
They should have tackled Sinema and broken several of her ribs.
It's interesting that the stalker is not one of Sen Synema's consitutents, as she is an illegal alien and has no right to vote. She is a person from a foreign country using intimidation and threats of violence to attempt to force political change on a country to which she does not belong.
We have a word for that.
"Leaving aside that Sinema doesn’t get to set the terms of how her constituents hold her accountable"
One of the women who followed Sen. Sinema is a self-identified illegal alien. Purely as a semantic question, I wasn't aware that the term "constituent" was broad enough to include foreign nationals in our country without a valid visa. With a few debatable exceptions (spouses and children of Americans, maybe) even foreign nationals in the country *with* a valid visa are not a US Senator's constituents.
Biden and Psaki have practically invited the brownshirts to confront and attack Sinema in the bathroom, on airplanes, in airports and everywhere else.
Hardly the way to encourage and persuade someone. Sinema needs to announce that because of this, the Biden agenda is dead.
She and Manchin should just switch parties as a masterful F-U move.
I read somewhere (could be fake news) that it is illegal to film someone in a restroom in AZ without their permission.
Now, I don't even want to know who films people in restrooms with their permission : )
From the Thinkers at NBC News.
I was waiting for YouTubeTV to dump NBCUniversal. I have no love for either Google or NBC, but I would not have missed NBC had it disappeared. I haven't watched any of their people (or shows) for years.
For years the left has thought nothing of doxing, showing up at people's homes with bullhorns, spray paint, or mobs, showing up at 'talks' or conferences, and shouting, throwing things, and hitting people. The Left has been playing out like spoiled children for decades. It has blown up over the last 10 or so years as the coddled kids who were never told 'no' in grade and middle schools were turned into coddled college students, who are not only not told 'no' but, in the words of our current Vice President, are told that "Your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard." They are taught that there is no actual truth- just what you believe to be, is truth enough. Or- what you want is what should be.
Sen. Sinema has guts. I probably don't agree with her on much, but I do admire her having actual foundations, an actual personal philosophy, and the courage to stay with her own core beliefs, not just Today's Special Beliefs. I hope she continues to have the courage to not be bullied by bizarre young people who think it noble to chase someone into a bathroom stall. I can tell you, there is coming a time when some of those Leftists are going to chase the wrong person into the wrong room.
Are all leftists so selfish and delusional as to think that threats against a person's safety especially affect people like themselves?
Tbh, if BLM had just said policing is out of control and there need to be better protections for civilians and more accountability against police abuse, they would have been exponentially more successful at achieving police reform. (The fact they chose a much different strategy might be a clue that their goals are something different.) Instead, we have a bunch of idiots, er people, who think bad things are especially bad if experienced by themselves or people like themselves.
"Leaving aside that Sinema doesn’t get to set the terms of how her constituents hold her accountable..."
Illegal aliens are not her constituents and she has no accountability to them.
It’s rather hard to find anybody following the Hayes Brown lead suggesting that it was pretty much okay to do that kind of ugly performative protesting of Senator Synema.
The Twitter feed of Charlie Sykes over the last 24 hours has been pretty great in identifying folks from the right, left and center who have all condemned the tactic. I couldn’t even pick out just one to link to. Don Lemon, Jon Chait, Mitt Romney (himself the victim of similar harassment from the Trumpists), Norm Ornstein; etc etc. Here’s the main feed page; scroll down:

If I was trying to steal 3.5 trillion dollars I don’t think I’d be opposed to chasing a female democrat senator into a bathroom and threatening them.
Of course, I wouldn’t attempt to steal $3.5 trillion because I’m a decent human being.
I also wouldn’t chase a female Republican because I don’t want to be shot.
If these folks can do this, people can walk into the capitol and take pictures too. "Insurrection" is really just freedom of speech.

It happened also to a comment that I posted to this thread.
Arizona has set the terms for where a person can videotape and it appears that law, along with many others were violated.
I also hope to remember this situation when Gun control advocates claim a duty to retreat. If you are not allowed to retreat because of who you are, then just know you set the rules of the game.
These AZ people don't like mavericks anymore?
It is quite fitting that pervy Joe Biden declares filming women in the bathroom as an official process. After all, Hunter picked it up somewhere!
Not a new thing. https://youtu.be/qre7DzEtxyc
Doesn't seem to improve the quality of governance though.
She's not the Sinema of 2003. Yep, now she's a big girl and her actions have consequences.
Temujin has a point. An armed society is a polite society and this sort of nonsense is going to end up in tears for some young "activist". Tough to be "active" when there's a big old hole in you.
Why isn't Merrick Garland looking into this?
Why is such a tactic controversial? It's not part of the process. It's just plain wrong. Even more bizarre than the tactic itself is not condemning such a tactic... I don't think people should be followed into the bathroom and harassed as part of the political process. I don't know with any certainty about the optimum number of immigrants to accept or what the proper tax rate on capital gains should be, but I assert with absolute confidence that taking a dump in private is a basic human right and should not be violated.

Amen to that so far as I'm concerned.

Biden says harassing public officials is "part of the process", but Merrick Garland has just announced that the DOJ will go after parents who harass local school boards by objecting to inane covid mask policy and to CRT being taught to their children.

A first-rate legal mind at work!!!!!
I think I saw Senator Manchin in the Charlotte airport two Fridays ago. He was maskless and moving from the gate with a flight to Charleston, West Virginia to the bathroom. Should I have followed him into the bathroom and chased him into a stall all the while thanking him for standing up to the progressives?
In a better world, the perverts who harassed Sen. Sinema in the restroom would be prosecuted for violating the law in Arizona prohibiting recording someone in a restroom, https://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03019.htm , and put on the sex offender list.
Intrusion to force behaviors is the shit these days.
The turning point will be when the leftie thugs do this to someone with a carry permit, who responds by shooting them.
If the jury refuses to convict, this kind of thing will stop. If the jury convicts, it will continue.

They aren't thinking rational humans. They are serving animal instincts and operating on emotional atavism.
They are a cave clan with clubs that sees another cave clan at a distance and seek to protect their territory.
They do not understand why every time people like them take over large percentages of the population die from starvation and poverty ensues.

What’s Wrong With Kyrsten Sinema?
'...In “Unite and Conquer,” Sinema describes entering the Republican-controlled Arizona State House as a strident progressive, accomplishing nothing, being miserable and then recalibrating so that she could collaborate with her Republican colleagues. The book is vaguely New Agey. It places a lot of emphasis on deep breathing and extols what Sinema calls “Enso politics,” after a Zen term for a circle symbolizing enlightenment.
Sinema describes finding self-actualization in learning to “open up my own ways of thinking to embrace a much larger possibility than the strict party-line rhetoric I’d been using.” She figured out how to have meetings with lobbyists that were “relaxed and comfortable,” whether or not they agreed. Her “new ethos” helped her to get more done and, “perhaps most importantly,” be “much happier,” she writes.
“Unite and Conquer” was about operating in the minority, not exercising power. Now that she’s part of a governing majority, Sinema is, ironically, recapitulating some of the pathologies she boasted about transcending. Rather than being part of a productive coalition, she’s once again operating as a defiantly contrary outsider. The bipartisanship that was once a source of liberation for her seems to have become a rigid identity.'
In the comments, a top reader's pick (3479 Recommends):
Orion Clemens (a lefty lawyer):
CS Oct. 4
"...I met Kyrsten Sinema several years back at a Democratic fundraiser here in Arizona, and every other word out of her mouth was to praise the Tea Partiers and how much she liked working with them. At that point, my opinion of her was that either she was delusional, or that she was grandstanding, trying to maximize her own individual power."
"... As a woman more than 20 years her senior, it sickens me how easily Sinema will trade our rights away for her own self-glorification. Sinema would not be where she is if it were not for the women of my generation, and yet she thumbs her nose at us - the backbone of the Democratic party."
"...And worse, that a young woman would be at the head of the line overseeing this destruction.
And we are all contributing funds to Ruben Gallego, in the hopes that he will primary her."
It’s rather hard to find anybody following the Hayes Brown lead suggesting that it was pretty much okay to do that kind of ugly performative protesting of Senator Synema.
Except of course, the Democratic president of the United States.
Sinema is my Senator (although I voted for the lackluster McSally). I very strongly suspect that she is role playing the moderate, but will vote the party line 95% of the time.
Lefties harassing her is great for Sinema's image in Arizona where having a false independent streak is respected. That was how McCain got reelected with overwhelming majorities.
"But getting trapped in a small, interior space by people who are yelling at you and coming at you is a woman's nightmare"
That'll give ya a bashful bladder for sure.

Our Modern Free Society is a complex system.
It took a long time to build and a lot of mistakes were made along the way.
It looks like the biggest mistake we made was overly coddling our female population.
It seems that most of them don't like it. Just like they always chase the "Bad Boy."
The only people treated worse than females in pre-modern society were low class males.
But what we have now is a conflict between coddled women who don't understand where this all leads and low class males who do understand where this all leads.
Anyone who thinks that kind of behavior is good or even acceptable is a bad person. Conservatives don't behave that way. Look at who does, and that tells you all you need to know about who the bad guys (and bad gals) are.
Agreed: a woman's nightmare; none too pleasant for men either. It's striking how many people are enraged, not only that an opposition party exists, but also that opposition exists within their own party.
This is domestic terrorism and should be punished by jail time. This woman is harrassing and threatening a US Senator. i'm hearing that the Arz Senator is recieving death threats and rape threats from the Left.
My husband's first question was whether Arizona is an open carry state but I see this took place in an airport where you can't use normal means to defend yourself from assault. They don't even let you carry air horns or mace.
“ Now, I don't even want to know who films people in restrooms with their permission : )”
The hotel’s new employee training manager being filmed for a training video on how to clean the bathroom.
Kirsten Powers said we’d never get rid of all these deplorables until they died off.
Hey, Kirsten: read the comments above. We ain’t dead yet.
"The only thing they seem to lack is the violent fascist streak."
When in doubt, vote for the "Say no to death camps" party.
'Are the Republicans in DC honestly any better?'
Yes...
The Republicans are shitty.
The Democrats are shittier.
Lesser of two evils...QED.
StephenFearby,
I like particularly Orion Clemens' "thumb her nose at . . . the backbone of the Democratic Party." That's more anatomical detail than I expected in a sentence.
It's not spelled out explicitly in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution but my understanding is that the right to take a dump in privacy and without hassle is some kind inalienable, human right. If not, the pursuit of happiness becomes just empty words.
“ Now, I don't even want to know who films people in restrooms with their permission : )”
The hotel’s new employee training manager being filmed for a training video on how to clean the bathroom.
And Chuck Berry.
Were I Sinema, this is what I would do
I would contact Pelosi, Biden's Chief of Staff, and Schumer, and explain that the following are non-negotiable demands:
1: Biden is going to go on TV and condemn the harassment of me, and everyone doing it
2: The FBI is going to investigate and arrest every single person involved in the bathroom harassment. They will find charges, and make them stick
3: Every single person on DACA who harasses me will be investigated by the FBI, a crime will be found, their DACA will be pulled, and they will be expelled from the country, never to be allowed to return
4: All my colleagues in the House and the Senate will be informed that they lose every single committee assignment they have if they support my harasses in any way
If these are not begun to be met in 24 hours, I leave the Democrat Party, become an Independent, and start caucusing with the Republicans
Which means every single Senate Committee now gets a GOP committee chair, and the Republicans now have subpoena power vs the Biden* Admin
The fact that she hasn't done this shows that all her "outrage" is theater
“My husband's first question was whether Arizona is an open carry state but I see this took place in an airport where you can't use normal means to defend yourself from assault. They don't even let you carry air horns or mace.”
Someone above suggested that she get a concealed carry permit, if she didn’t have one. My response was that AZ was one of the first Constitutional Carry states - you don’t need a permit there to carry concealed. Many get them to avail themselves of reciprocity in the gun laws of the Free States (doesn't help in the Dem controlled Slave States). That was one of my reasons to get one there. The other is that I used it to bridge between my CO and my MT carry permits. You have to be a MT resident to get a MT permit, but my CO permit automatically became invalid when I became a MT resident. The gap was only a couple days, but I had my AZ carry permit throughout it, and was complimented by the MT licensing person for making their job easier.
Still, it at least used to be the case that you could carry a firearm into an airport. You just can’t take it through security into TSA territory. So, I have, in the past, after getting my checked luggage, taken my secured handgun out of my checked bag, gone into the bathroom, unlocked the case, loaded, and then holstered it. Did that in both the DEN and PHX airports. Been several years, so the laws may have changed. After all, the TSA has extended their ridiculous face diaper mandate throughout airport property, even to off site rental car facilities.
Bruce,
In my first "carry class", the instructor mentioned that people traveling with jewelry would often travel with a gun, too. Because they could put the jewelry in the gun case, and once the TSA closed it up have a high probability that it would make it safely and unopened to their final destination.
Just checked the Delta website:
We allow small arms ammunition, in quantities not exceeding 11 lbs. (5 kg) per person, as checked-baggage only.
...
Until further advised, passengers departing Brussels, Belgium are not allowed to check weapons including, antique, sporting, hunting or toy rifles in their checked baggage
...
Pistols and accessories must be included in one case and contain:
Pistol telescopes
Noise suppressors
A small pistol tool case
No more than 11 lbs. (5 kg) of ammunition, including case
So looks like you can still do it
