"Is there a bigger joke in broadcast news than Chris Cuomo? Now, he says, he cannot cover his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, because it’s a conflict of interest...."

"Apparently no such conflict arose when Chris constantly hosted his brother during the height of the pandemic, tastelessly turning his nightly news show into 'The Cuomo Brothers Variety Hour.' The governor took time out of his busy schedule — consisting of daily ego baths dressed up as press conferences and writing a book about leadership while allegedly sexually harassing at least one young employee and eugenically shunting old people with COVID into nursing homes and certain death — to answer hard-hitting questions and accusations such as these, posed by little brother Chris: 'No matter how hard you’re working, there’s always time to call Mom. She wants to hear from you.' “'ou know that what people are saying about how you look really can’t be accurate, so it must be hard for you to make sense of what is real and what is true now. I feel for you.' 'Now I’ve seen you referred to a little bit recently as the LuvGuv and I’m wondering if that’s bleeding into your demeanor at all and making you a little soft on the president?' 'Do you think you are an attractive person now because you’re single and ready to mingle?'"

From "How is Chris Cuomo still on the air at CNN?" by Maureen Callahan (NY Post).

Fredo also got caught breaking quarantine while he supposedly had COVID and was supposed to be confined to his basement where he was broadcasting. Even after getting caught outside his house, he still staged his dramatic rise from his basement a week later. Douchebags galore!!!

Fredo is simply insufferable. If anyone believes he got (and keeps) his CNN gig for any reason other than his family’s political connections, please explain away....

Not you Anderson Cooper, someone else.

Do you remember the huge, 'joke' nasal swab that Chris was waving around while joking about the size of his brother's nose?

I thinks that's the same one that the Chinese used on our ambassadors.

Fredo doesn't even begin to describe him.

The Coumos are everything that's wrong with the political/media aristocracy in this country.

The old man Mario was an evil liberal, but he was smart AF.

The sons, not so much.

I know someone who knew the family quite well...he worked for Mario at a fairly high level 'back in the day.' He is very liberal.

He can't stand Andrew and didn't vote for him. He said that he is entitled, arrogant, and dismissive.

All of the Andrew Cuomo sexual harassment allegations are a distraction from the Nursing Home deaths. The media and Democrats are running cover for Governors Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), Phil Murphy (D-NJ), Gavin Newsome (D-CA), and Tom Wolf (D-PA) who put out the exact same orders that killed thousands. Even our transgender Assistant Health Secretary Rachel Levine has bloody hands. Let’s not forget she is the one who pulled her mother out of a nursing home prior to sending in the small pox blankets. What a bitch!!

I hope Andrew Cuomo pulls out the “they did it too defense”. I still think the Democrat Governors listed above did it on purpo$e…those old people are expensive, and to put Trump in a bad spot Democrats had to run up the death count quickly to create their crisis. Truly Machiavellian. Sick Fucks.

But let's give Andrew his due; it does at least seem that he hits on cuties, unlike a former president whose initials are Bill Clinton.

By March 7th 2020 both Asia and Europe had given ample public warning that Nursing Homes and the elderly need special protection from COVID. Seemed quite obvious at the time. All five Democrat Governors (NY, NJ, MI, CA, & PA) put out their contaminating executive orders a week of two after and left them in place while tens of thousands perished.

Remember they even tried pulling the orders down off their state websites after the disaster occurred, and the orders were rescinded?

There were even Nursing Home cluster deaths early on in Wisconsin from our “health experts” cross staffing nurses between hospitals and elderly care facilities. Pretty stupid shit. But “heroes” worked there. Round of applause!!!!

I am not kidding. Just keep an eye out for how many other outlets refer to CNN stories or clips, or for the not infrequent lockstep reporting.

My wife's cousin, an American expat in Norway, gets all her US news from CNN. Let's just say her viewpoint is incomplete, although it perfectly confirms her biases.

Nonapod said...

Yeah, I don't really care that much about Chris Cuomo or CNN beyond being confused as to why CNN still exists at all. Who is watching? And what foolish billionaire or billionaires are dumping money down that particular rat hole? What's the point of a propaganda organ that nobody of consequnece is watching?

But I do care about what the elder Cuomo brother has done, especially since I'm a resident of New York state. Andrew Cuomo is a geriatricidal bully with an enormous amount of power over me. So yeah, he's on my mind a bit.

JAORE said...

CNN had decided Fredo could not interview his brother much earlier.
When Governor Cuomo was seen as an antidote to Orange Man Bad that position was changed.
Now that the Luv Guv *retch* is in hot water, Chris is muffled again.

Two more points:
Sexual misconduct, bad as it is pales before the nursing home deaths. But it is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Why? Because several other (D) governors did the same stsck-em-in-nursing-homes act. Can't have more of our side attacked.
Chris Cuomo didn't just boost his brother he blasted other governors, particularly Florida, even when the numbers told a different tale.

I can't stand Chris Cuomo for lots of reasons but he is right on this one. It's his fucking brother. It's a no-win situation for him and the right decision is to stay as far away from the story as possible. The fact that he did puff pieces on his brother when he was everyone's favorite governor (according to CNN), seems immaterial.

Gusty Winds said...

If I was Chris Cuomo, wouldn’t you want to invite your older brother on the air and ask him how many chicks he successfully banged while in power? We have three accusers of “unwanted” sexual advances, but that’s every rejection. There must be dozens.

The REAL story between brothers are which ones went for it and said yes. You know…like Renee Zellwegger and Harvey Weinstein. You think these guys are throwing out the vibe to everyone like ticket scalper Mike Damone in Fast Times at Ridgemont High because they get rejected? That’s not how it works.

I’ll bet the Andrew Cuomo’s list of successful sexual conquests is long… The pierced nipples are a giveaway…. He’s a true playa….

Imagine that the media was more openly and obviously biased than it is.

Seriously, think how that would look. Pretty much impossible to do, isn't it?

The North Korean media is no more bootlicking than ours. This embarrassing decline of our Press happened under our watch, and it's mostly due to the softness of our middle, our "moderates", our "fair minded" fellows, who give the Press refuge from criticism by not taking sides, regardless of the abuse openly flaunted in their face. Grow a pair of balls or ovaries or something, you worthless twits.

So my question is, why took Maureen Dowd so long to realize the need to ask her question? I figured out the answer long ago and realized it was to promote his brother, and I wanted no part of it.

I'm not sure how something so convenient for the brother and the network is immaterial.

Aptly put. I especially like the phrase, "ego bath". I saw a couple of his press conferences, and they were OK the first few minutes, but you could quickly see that he loved posing as a man of action and being in the spotlight. Of course a man of action wouldn't linger longer than necessary at a press conference during a crisis.

Another point about the Cuomo brothers. I see people calling them Fredos. Don't see the fit. Andrew is more of a Sonny and Chris a Sonny wanna be. The fact that Chris lost his cool when someone called him a Fredo indicates that he's not a Fredo. A true Fredo would have avoided any type of confrontation.

Completely disagree- I have seen the movies a million times. That blowup is exactly what would have happened had anyone challenged Fredo's intelligence directly- that people believed it chafed at him his entire life. Also, you have to remember, Fredo killed the assassins who tried and failed to murder Michael and his wife after the Tahoe party. Fredo wasn't a coward. People seem to misunderstand the movie- Michael's enemies didn't manipulate Fredo into betraying him- Fredo was a much more willing participant because of his hurt pride at being passed over by his father. His role in the plot was far more active than he admits at the end, but Michael isn't fooled.

OK, I withdraw my point. Your recollection of the Fredo in the films is more detailed than mine. The Fredo memory that sticks in my mind is when he makes excuses for Moe Greene getting rough with him and his inability to handle his wife at the wedding. I forgot about his killing the assassins and can't recall him blowing up in anger in any of the scenes.

Yancey Ward said...

Moe Green was Fredo's superior within the organization at that time. This also chafed at him. He swallows all of the anger his entire life because he is never at the top of pack, not even in his father's love is he even an equal. His "blowup" takes the form of the betrayal itself. Of course, the real Fredo shows up in in uncovering his own betrayal in a careless moment in Michael's presence. He really wasn't very bright.

Yancey Ward said...

I am sure I am one of the few people who think Michael makes the smart decision in killing Fredo- Fredo would have tried again given enough time.

narciso said...

moe green is bugsy siegel, and that was a decade before, for reasons you might grok, I really dislike this installment, it's too redolent of the view of havana that graham greene painted, and has maintained to this day with the late phillip kerr, and even stephen hunter,

yes fredo conspired with the rozzatto brothers and johnny ola to kill his brother,

This sounds suspiciously like it's OK to praise the left, but not accuse them.

The Cuomo brothers did more than the comedy shtick. Chris actively promoted how well his brother was doing and contrasted it with that nasty, evil POTUS and those Granny Killing Republican Governors.

Gusty Winds said...

And of course Cuomo choked up on cue at his press conference today.

But he choked up over the sexual harassment allegations, not 15,000 old people who died for his stupid executive order. It’s a distraction to protect the other Democrat Governors.

I think this is correct. The sexual harassment was clumsy and highly inappropriate, but pales in comparison to the nursing home orders in terms of damage. This is the way things are going to be parsed going forward.

What lengths does one have to go to to find commentary this stupid? When Cuomo was seen as doing a much better job on the pandemic than the president or anyone else, there's no conflict of interest for him to appear on his brother's news show and hobnob. It's when the current story is a bad one for the governor that much more critical coverage is necessarily required and someone without that kind of connection to him needs to take it on. How stupid does someone have to be to not understand that conflicts of interest pertain to critical coverage, not feel good stories?

hpudding,

Oh, dear. Why was Cuomo "seen as doing a much better job on the pandemic"? Mightn't it be b/c of his, oh, I dunno, press coverage?

It's when the current story is a bad one for the governor that much more critical coverage is necessarily required and someone without that kind of connection to him needs to take it on.

But, hpudding, why is "the current story" "bad"? Why was Cuomo the Great Pandemic Hero a couple of months back, and suddenly the Nasty Grandma-Killer now? Who changed the story? It can't be the #MeToo stuff, b/c we know that that can be buried neatly if you want it to; Tara Reade is already forgotten, nyet?
