People should review the history of the French Revolution and how things progressed ("devolved" is the trendy term, I believe) between 1789 and, say, 1793. These things take time, I guess because it takes time for people to lose the habit of deference to authority; even after the authority becomes utterly deranged, cruel and ineffectual. So I am guessing Peak Crazy is yet to come. Hang on, folks.

The truth about election fraud and the future of corrupt one-party rule.

"More than 65 million people voted by mail, providing the Biden victory margin. In Pennsylvania, a key swing state, Biden “won 3 of every 4 mail ballots” while “Trump won 2 of 3 votes cast in person, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. While many mail-in ballots had been nullified for errors in previous years, almost none were invalidated this year. The Trump campaign or Trump supporters filed a barrage of post-election lawsuits, almost all of which were dismissed on procedural grounds. Democrats claim the court rulings prove that no foul play occurred. But as publisher Conrad Black quipped, this is like saying, “I saw a dozen psychiatrists and none ordered a chest x-ray, so my lungs are healthy.” "

I had never heard the colorful expression of "sans-culottes" before this twitter post.

The above link states: "The term sans-culottes is French for ‘without britches’. It was initially a humorous term, describing a young man caught in an embarrassing situation with a woman." You see an example of the French sense of humor.

It became a phrase used to describe the working class that wore trousers as opposed to the knee-length britches worn by the nobility and wealthy bourgeoisie.

I have chafed at "the resistance" bullshit for over 4 years now, coming as it does with NAZI overtones, and intended by these ahistorical yahoos to do just that, reduce a life and death effort to resist fascism to merely a plot device or label to create the illusion of a movement where there is only the same old swamp people doing the same old swamp things and wanting nothing to do with the barbarian who has by accident of history come into their midst. Now we must also minimize other pivot points in history like the sacking of Rome just to try and give gravitas to a lying pedophile husk that has been manipulated into the oval orifice to serve as placeholder for a china compromised race grifter.

Doesn't keep progs from portraying the mild-mannered mob as the bloodthirsty beasts they know so well from their own history.

Of course, that also exposes their propaganda for what it is.

But what if the right decided they have nothing to lose and really become the sans-culottes?

The kinds of things that happened during the French Revolution required having a populace that was mostly disarmed, and mostly didn't have military experience.

Today we have a population that owns more guns than there are people in the US. We have millions of people with military experience and training, the vast majority of whom (especially the ones with combat experience) are part of the "Out Party."

We have an In Party that has no respect of the Constitution, the Law, Democracy, principle, tradition, or anything else that gets in the way of their lust for power.

We also have a In Party that thinks that they can do whatever they want.

Members of the US Military swear an oath to protect the US Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. They are not released from that oath when they leave the Service.

Congratulations, Althouse, the party of domestic political violence has been rewarded for their violence with the reins of power. If you think that this will lead to a time of normalcy, you are about to be sadly disillusioned.

serious question
starting the afternoon of the 6th, i started hear progs call the capitol building
"a sacred place"
"the sacred place"
"the sacredest place"

so, Government is OFFICIALLY the state religion now?
i mean, it's been a state religion, for years now;
but, it wasn't until the 6th, that i noticed they became OPEN about it

Anyone else? IS the Capitol Building, a "sacred place" ??? If so, sacred to What GOD?

bother to check the tape... the day after, before the cop died, on this very blog I praised the guts of the invaders and I praised the invaders for non-escalation after Ashli was killed. I also poo poo'd the notion that the invaders could be lead into the invasion by Antifa because they were too observant to be fooled and Antifa wouldn't have the guts to infiltrate Trump's invaders.

boatbuilder said...

That is a fascinating video. The previous media shots made it seem as though the clown with the horns was leading the riotous mob and raising his arms in triumph before the horde.

Not so much. One guy siting on the floor rubbing his mouth, and a cop saying "Um, c'mon, guys, this place is, like, sacred."

And horns guy was all by his lonesome.

And then in the lower video posted by BidenFamily... the unruly mob carefully stays inside the velvet ropes, like they are in a bank or a museum, until some wild and crazy insurrectionists...move the posts!!!
After which they continue to stay inside the velvet ropes--while the cops walk past them going the other way.

Reminds me of Catholic school. The girls couldn't wear pants, so they kept trying to get the sisters to let them wear culottes. I had no idea what they were talking about. Robespierre and the Jacobins didn't make things any clearer. I gather that the Parisian mob couldn't afford knee britches, or maybe the stockings that went with them, but I doubt that was what the girls were after.

Sebastian: "Doesn't keep progs from portraying the mild-mannered mob as the bloodthirsty beasts they know so well from their own history."

Did you happen to catch readering's whitewashing of stalinist history by actually daring to forcefully assert that Good Guy Stalin only invaded Poland from the East in response to Hitler invading Poland from the West?

Yes indeed, the mass murdering butcher commie Stalin portrayed by readering as one of history's heroes.

Knowing that provides helpful context for all of readerings "analytical" and "morality" musings.

Interesting note: when called out for such a transparently moronic assertion, readering simply went Full Inga and pretended it never happened.

Just like the years of OWS/antifa/BLM riots that readering et al claim never happened at all.

My favorite French expression involving culottes is:

C’est le petit Jésus en culotte de velours.

It is a phrase heard after one tastes a fine wine. Translated, it means: It's like baby Jesus in velvet underpants. I heard a family member say it in Caen after sipping Calvados and it drew much laughter at the dinner table. I think the popularity of the phrase is due to its silliness.

Michelle Dulak Thomson said...

Lurker21, modern "culottes" are things that look very like skirts, but have two leg-holes. Split skirts, basically. I had a few pair as a kid. I haven't seen them called that in decades, though. "Gaucho pants" are pretty similar, though given the dearth of female gauchos, their original, pre-fashion purpose was probably different.

mockturtle said...

John Henry, what I meant was that, the Government considers Trump supporters 'domestic terrorists' and enemies of the state. Trump supporters consider the Government [and MSM] to be the enemies of the people. So, yes, I did mean what you inferred.

More importantly, 'domestic terrorists' are legally defined as those who act against the Constitution, not against the State. And of course our military take oaths to protect and defend the Constitution, not the Government. This sounds pretty radical but it really isn't.
