Fine COVID19 seroprevalence study in hard-hit Geneva finds peak at 10·8%. Also, for every confirmed case, there were ~12 undetected. Epidemic is far from coming to an end by means of fewer susceptible people in population.
Herd immunity is a pipe dream. The best we can hope for is probably an annual vaccine for the population of wealthy countries.
China is already vaccinating members of their armed forces with an experimental one, and has held up the shipment of a trial vaccine to Canada. Somebody should tell Billions Yuan Joe that China actually *is* our enemy, or at a minimum, a serious rival that plays hardball for keeps. Imagine if the news media carried the actual news.
I am sure that a top investigative reporter from one of the prestige outlets will be all over this story any day.
The passenger in the Jeep that sped through a Black Lives Matter protest, causing one woman to fall off the highway, said they were simply trying to drive to the airport and became jolted after people threw projectiles at the vehicle. Footage of a blue Jeep racing down a Aurora, Colorado highway as Black Lives Matter protesters desperately jumped out of the way made headlines on Sunday as tensions mount nationwide.(Snip) 'Once this white pickup truck did crash into us, a man with a bat then approached the vehicle and began swinging at the vehicle,' he said. 'We then proceeded to speed off
This is impossible after all, as the protestors are peaceably assembled as is their right under the Constitution. So we will need the New York Times to fact check this for us and explain how these people are lying. If only Carlos Slim knew!

In re books available on Kindle - I was reading Barrie Pitt on the WWII North African campaign. Pitt pulls a lot of quotes from the Australian journalist Alan Moorehead, who seems to have been constantly on the spot with various British units. He was the ubiquitous man between Alexandria and Tunis.
Alan Moorehead was once a ridiculously popular writer, especially his "The Blue Nile" and "The White Nile", about the exploration of Africa; if you want the quick and dirty on Speke and Burton and Stanley and Livingstone, and all sorts of other high adventure, well of course they are on Kindle.
Also his "Gallipoli", which has long been the leading popular history of that mess, with justice, as it is superbly well written. Also on Kindle.
Also on Kindle is his "The Desert War", about, again, the North African campaign. I would call it rather his compiled on the spot reporting (a history of sorts, but not quite). He was an eye-witness to a very great deal of what he wrote about.
Anyway, Moorehead is an unjustifiably forgotten writer and much of his work is easily and cheaply available.

That's why I don't take you seriously about not voting for PDT because of some personal conflicts with people you've never met. You know darn well the stakes are too high for that.
Go on and blow off steam as needed, but forgive me if I don't put in the time talking you off the ledge. You know your duty and I'm sure you'll do it.
More reporting for Althouse to shrug at. Antifa attacking buildings in Athens Greece. Buts it’s crazy to think they'd attack anything in Oregon! https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1268305236638052353

Pretty as a picture.
"Takes your mind off of Trump don't it" or some other Orange Man Bad comment.
What are you do here so early?
Ann: Painting my masterpiece.
Fisherman: "So, who do you think's going to garner more votes in November?"
Want some fish?
Wanna ride on my boat honey?
Fisherman: So, who do think will garner more votes in November?
the early bird catches the worm.
as to Meade, i'll just quote Lt. Commander Ivanova's famous line: "I'll be in the car."
I'm going with "Do you want to smell my fingers?"
Said in an Old-Timey voice, of course.
I am Laslo.
Nice fish.
You’re up early?
"Hey! You! Get offa my dock!"
Eminently guessable, indeed.
"Red sky at morning; sailors take warning."
Red sky at morning; sailor, take warning.
"Wanna ride on my boat honey?"
Works better with "dinghy."
"I'm here to get away from people, lady."
“Black Lives Matter”
A little serenade, maybe?
"Eminently guessable, indeed. "Red sky at morning; sailors take warning.""
You're on the right track, but in person the sky did not look red. It was a gentler pink with orange.
When sky is pink, Fishing it stinks.
"Hey, lady. Wanna buy a fish?"
Meade's picture wins in a photo finish.
“The beginning was kind of anti-climatic.”
"Hey Little Lady. Come here often?"
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"There was a little boy and there was a little girl
And they lived in an alley under the red sky
There was a little boy and there was a little girl
And they lived in an alley under the red sky."
It’s going to be a beautiful day
Smooth as glass today.
I’d have guessed “Good morning. Please don’t make noise and scare the fish.”

OK, so, "The calm before the storm."
"Of all the docks in all the world, you had to walk onto mine."
"Did you know that I'm a master baiter? Want to watch me?"
“Dear One,, the World is Waiting for the Sunrise...”
Q. "What did this fisherman say to me?"
A. "Hi, I'm Al Neri. I know a great spot out in the lake. Hop in."
“Dear one, the World is waiting for the Sunrise...”
The fisherman might have quoted Captain Courageous:
There's a place in my heart for the one I love best.
And I still keep her picture tattooed on my chest.
Yea ho, little fish, don't cry, don't cry;
Yea ho, little fish, don't cry, don't cry.
"No thanks. I've already caught my limit."
Haven't looked at other guesses--here's mine:
Hey lady, you ever hear of the Colossus of Rhodes?
Narr
Is there a prize?

Good morning.
"Aren't you the woman with all the click bait?"
Fisherman: Wanna get high?
Althouse: Not with you.
Come on down to my boat, baby
Come on down where we can play
Come on down to my boat baby
Come on down, we'll sail away
"Where's your mask, buddy?"
Answer: Noting that the sky was pink, not red, he said: “I guess I don’t have to take warning.” I found that quite amusing.

Probably not: "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
Did he garner any fish?
“Freedom Fighter” Ammon Bundy in the news again is entertaining and interesting.

Gone Fishing !! But I’ll be back on Nov. 3rd to vote for Trump
