Remarks overheard at sunrise offer insight into the mind of Generation Z.

I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but I couldn't help hearing when one of the 5 teenage girls suddenly asked:

"Does anyone know what's wrong with TikTok? I'm only getting videos that I don't want to see."

I didn't notice the rest of the conversation. I, like them, was waiting for the sun to appear. But then one remark stood out, and I believe it was a critique of a short video, not of the sunrise:

"The beginning was kind of anti-climactic."

At the official sunrise time — 5:46 — they all picked up their things and left, though the sun had yet to appear:

I stayed around for another 5 minutes, at which point it looked like this:

The beginning was a little anti-climactic.

Does anyone know what's wrong with the sunrise? This wasn't the one I wanted to come up in my feed.

Clearly TikTok has taken control of the sun.

Your sunrise has been JMW Turner'ed. Did you hear or see any grumpy English men out and about this morning?

You will need a picturesque ship or two to be properly turnered.

5 teenage girls out to watch a sunrise?

That's kind of heartwarming.

I am Laslo.

Maybe 'The beginning was a little anti-climactic" but still beautiful in its own way. But i'm wondering were the teenagers up early or out late?

Looks pretty normal to me. We had a similar one down here today, except that it had streaks of orange-red. Red sky in morning...

We do have a tropical storm trying to decide if it wants to come over this weekend.

Nothing like bringing TikTok to a sunrise.

That is a sky for a tall ship heavy with sail, and bound for someone’s fire place mantle.

Ohio has banned the use of Hydroxychloroquine if being prescribed for the treatment of coronavirus. To protect Ohioians. Only if part of a clinical trial. So we got to government looking out for us. That’s nice.

We live near one of the best sunset beaches in America (tourist destination category) and we are always surprised when 10% of the crowd Starts leaving five minutes before actual sunset. To beat the traffic. It’s gotta save them five minutes.

Super odd.

The refusal of local authorities, Portland in particular, to quell the riots in their jurisdictions is a perfect demonstration of why DC should never become a state.

The mind of Generation Z: last night, I was watching The Wizard of Oz with my ten year old, my fourteen year old and her BFF. During the scene where Professor Marvel reads his crystal ball and nudges Dorothy to return home, the BFF said, troubled, "This is kind of cultural appropriation-y."

sigh

I let it go unremarked.

The beginning wasn't as good as they imagined it would be - that's shocking.

it's Pretty Close, to GODDAMN unbelievable. How about
5 teenage girls still out, stop to watch a sunrise, on their way home; with bras in back pockets?

The sunrise was the climax. Love all the radiating structure. Beethoven's 5th.

Maybe it’s a bad omen.

Checked previous pictures. The black line is the usual land horizon that the sun rises over and above it is a gray line of cloud causing the late sun. As long as it doesn't rise in the west, I'm good. Maybe that comes later. 2020 so far is all climax with no lead-up. Last night I added The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance to my short list of works of art which assist me in understanding 2020. Others are The Secret Agent (Conrad), Decision at Delphi (MacInnes), Life of Lord Randolph Churchill (Winston Churchill) and the best of all, which was Heart of Darkness (Conrad). It's strange and ... inconclusive, you might say, and yet to me it seems to shed a light.

When I prescribed it for my son and his family, I put "For Malaria Prophylaxis" since it was CA and I anticipated the idiots. Lots of "epidemiologists" on Facebook opining.

They expect a climax at the beginning?

That sounds a little premature....

Interesting list. I’ve been meaning to read Secret Agent for a long time.

Mine would be the movie Contagion and the Phillip K Dick short story, “Piper in the Woods.”

I had carefully configured my iPhone to keep it from pushing CNN and other agitprop and disinformation channels on me, but today, they seem to have found a new way to overcome that and successfully pushed a CNN story on me after they saw I was reading a news story on the BBC.

If the Trump campaign were able to push their campaign materials on people who are trying to avoid them as successfully as the Biden campaign is doing currently, he would win in a walk.
