"While Melania stayed in New York, Ivanka continued to establish herself in the West Wing, notorious for its cramped and limited working spaces."

"According to several people, she was eyeing real estate in the East Wing as well, the domain of the first lady. Among other proposals, Ivanka suggested renaming the 'First Lady’s Office' the 'First Family Office.' Melania did not allow that to happen. It was tradition, and she was not going to let her stepdaughter change it. Ivanka’s office remained in the West Wing. Melania’s delay in moving from New York initially put her at a disadvantage. Even some of the staff positions and budgets that would have been available to support the first lady’s office were gone, diverted to support those in the West Wing, including Ivanka.... With Melania away, Ivanka used the private theater, with its plush red seats, and enjoyed other White House perks. Some said she treated the private residence as if it were her own home. Melania did not like it. When she and Barron finally moved in, she put an end to the 'revolving door' by enforcing firm boundaries.... People working in the West Wing say they have heard Trump criticize Don Jr. and Eric and even Ivanka for doing or saying something that the president thought was not helpful, but none could recall hearing him say anything negative about Melania.... More than a dozen past or current White House officials interviewed attributed Melania’s influence to the fact that Trump believed that just about everyone else had an agenda, except Melania. He believed she had no ulterior motive and just wanted him to succeed...."

From "How Melania Trump blocked Ivanka Trump from encroaching on her domain" by Mary Jordan (adapted from the book, "The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump")(WaPo).

Good for you Melania for not letting that little daddy’s girl step on your toes.

Did we ever get the final number of people hit by objects tossed by Hillary Clinton in anger?

For the sake of completeness, this number should include all struck targets whether or not Hillary happened to be under medication or drunk as well as aggregate totals to ensure those that were struck multiple times on different occasions are fully captured.

This will probably outsell the Bolton book. The gossip here is more interesting. I wonder which dossier the writer used for source material...I'm pretty sure that there is some nasty gossip extant about the Trump family, but I just don't believe in the reliability of its current purveyors. Well, no writer ever lost money or reputation telling a lie about Trump. The trick is to tell an interesting and credible lie. This is in the realm of the possible.

You have already spent more time on this than it deserves for all of us simply by cutting and pasting an excerpt.

It is all rather catty.

I'm not playing the game.

It makes sense in white house to make use of all available space. But surprised Ivanka would want to situate herself away from the power center. Lots of folks could get better quarters in nearby EOB but prefer cramped space near Oval Office.

Funny a short time ago I commented on melana's first 6 months and was attacked. It was for Barron's schooling, when it turns out it was for Melania's prenup.

If Trump leaves office in January 2021 he may have still have time for Wife #4. If he’s re-elected I doubt he’ll have energy left for replacement wife hunting in 2025. On the other hand, unpredictability is the guy’s middle name.

I would bet pretty much this entire story is fabricated.

Some public figures are gossip repellent. There's some gossip about JFK, but I'm sure that the stories extant are only about ten percent of what actually happened, and we knew none of it until after his death. MLK had some romantic adventures, but God help the writer who chooses to write about them....Trump is just the opposite. He certainly has a disreputable past, but many of the scandals about him are exaggerated or even fabricated. He's definitely a sludge magnet.

Me too. Readering is heading in Inga direction.

The next question is whether writing anything nice about a Trump will cause a reporter hysteria.

If this is the best they can do for gossip, there really isn't anything to talk about. Ivanka used the theater and other perks! Oh, no!

I guess Michelle Obama's mother spent her eight years in the White House secluded in her room.

If you refer to me , I ignored you. The lefties never post comments about policy. It is always Trump hate. Do you have an opinion on China? On Russia aside from the hoax? Do you believe that "climate change" is going to destroy the world? Any evidence? Freder does. I give him some credit for that even if he is always wrong.

"Trump believed that just about everyone else had an agenda, except Melania. He believed she had no ulterior motive and just wanted him to succeed"

Not sure the writer has any better insight into Trump's mind here than you or I, but if Trump thought this, he would have been right.

But this also indicates one of his failures as president: to create a team that truly wants him to succeed. Most establishment types either opposed him or worked with him while looking over their shoulder for approval from other establishment types. Gotta protect future lobbying and consulting gigs. Pence is one of the few exceptions.

I agree with those here who really like Melania. There's something special about her.

It's obviously none of my business, but I wish she would appear in public more. Supposedly she knows five languages. I'd love to hear her translate something in each of those languages at a press conference, just to remind the media that she's smarter than they are.

I get the impression that she loves and respects her husband. I may be wrong. But it can't be easy for her to see him attacked relentlessly. At the very least, she appears loyal.

There was one early Trump rally where Melania read the Lord's Prayer at the beginning. I've always wanted to hear more about that. Was it her choice? What does her faith mean to her? In any case, if she were to speak even briefly at an upcoming MAGA rally, the audience would warmly embrace her. She should start a chant of "Slovenian lives matter!" and make all the haters go nuts.

The whole article is a lie, just like all the previous "revelations" were lies. Melania and Ivanka get along just fine. There is no "rivalry" or backbiting. It's a real family in the traditional sense where each person looks out for the other. The Left never got hold of any of Trump's kids like they did with Patti and Ron Reagan. Family was always home base with Trump's kids. Ivanka has her own family and time with her kids is precious given the duties she has taken on with no financial compensation.
