Said Democratic convention CEO Joe Solmonese, as Democrats announced that they would have their convention not in Milwaukee's basketball arena but in a smaller convention hall. The delegates will participate from home. All the parties and press events are cancelled. It's yet to be decided who will be seated there in person and whether there will be confetti and balloons.
WaPo reports.
"Born to be in charge" sounds absurdly entitled, but Solmonese is so obviously bullshitting that it doesn't matter.
The smaller place is the Wisconsin Center. You can take a virtual tour of the main ballroom here. I'm going to say there will be no balloons and confetti because the ceiling is too low. It would look stupid.

The Hiding of Joe Biden accelerates......
No, Biden was born to run. And run. And run. And lose all three times.
It will look stupid for many other reasons having nothing to do with balloons.
The only thing Biden was born to be in charge of is a hair salon.
"'Born to be in charge' sounds absurdly entitled, but Solmonese is so obviously bullshitting that it doesn't matter."
Ya think? I didn't think the media could be in the tank for a candidate more than they were for Obama, but I think this is worse.
Can you imagine any past presidential candidate (Democrat or Republican) with Biden's issues, not getting news coverage?
A cardboard cutout of Old Joe will be used in Milwaukee.
Think anybody will notice, or care?
Let Trump finish making America great again.
Born to be in charge, but he had to get in line behind all those other Democrats who were born before him.
“I'm going to say there will be no balloons and confetti because the ceiling is too low.“
How about a bright laser show and smoke?
Maybe not, the Ds may not want folks thinking about rioters burning structures at night.
But it could work for DJT’s show in Florida. He can even tell folks that it represents libs who like to destroy cities.
However, DJT may need to skip the balloons too. If the country (and particularly Florida) are F-ed w/ rona, round balloons may look too much like the virus.
It's yet to be decided who will be seated there in person and whether there will be confetti and balloons
Statement itself is a trial balloon. Y'all won't mind if we just install somebody, right? I mean, technically, he doesn't have the votes yet, now does he?
It should look stupid.
"biden was born to be in charge."
haha, isn't that they tried on us with Hillary?
A political convention without balloons and confetti? I wonder the last time.
His appeal is more selective
Every time the Democrats are obviously smoking crack, like when they're trying to portray senile child-grabber Joe Biden as the alpha-est of the alpha males, I smile. Trump's gonna fustigate him.
The Disney animatronic engineers are facing their greatest challenge ever in creating a Biden model that can convincingly walk to the podium, give an acceptance speech, and return.
Didn't we fight a war once to banish the very idea of anyone being born to be in charge?
Meh, “born to be in charge”, I don’t see it. BUT even the dog catcher is a better alternative to Trump. Biden is up by 8 points in Wisconsin.
“Trump’s 41% support in the Marquette University Law School poll -- to Biden’s 49% -- is suffering from the same trends dragging down his national numbers.”
Bloomberg
Joe Biden is not in charge of his own drool.
Does the Wisconsin Center have a basement?
At this point it’s clearly not about electing Joe Biden, it about installing him as president.
Born to be in charge? LOL He has never been in charge of anything and he's 77 years old.
Donald Trump has been in charge of something his whole damn adult life.
Whatever small role parties still play in American politics, it can’t possibly be necessary to get together in a big room to do it.
Joe Biden isn't in charge of his bowel movements, he will not be the candidate in November.
Joe just needs the smell of her greasepaint, no matter her age.
It won't be Biden. This is all a farce.
The sheep won't care. They'll vote for a fire hydrant over Trump.
It won't make a difference. The polls are lying. Those who believe them or seriously think "Biden" has a chance are willfully blind, just like 2016.
Assuming the election even happens.
The worst case scenario I've gamed out involves the Democratics realizing their chances are nil, sometime mid-October. "Spontaneous" riots break out on Halloween and begin spilling into suburbs, small towns, and rural areas.
"Burn it down! Death to colonizers! Black lies matter!"
Doesn't matter the rallying cry they use, the goal is the same.
And that's when the balloon goes up.
What happens next is anyone's guess.
"Born to be in charge"
So, Biden is superior because of his birth? Sort of like a queen bee or a silverback gorilla? Somebody introduce these guys to the Enlightenment movement. Maybe they're just ignorant.
The democrats are going to see if they can run an entire campaign with their candidate assigned to his own basement the entire time.
No balloons will be allowed, because Biden in his second childhood would chase them, catch one and offer it to a small girl for a long smooch. I kid you not.
Quite a day for Althouse; she posted at least 12 posts? What's her record for one day?
... Joe Biden was born to be in charge."
Said Democratic convention CEO Joe Solmonese
WOW! imagine, that you were born to be in charge...
you're now nearly 80 years old, and (LITERALLY!) the Only thing you've EVER been in charge of:
was a swimming pool, back when you were a teenager
Jo wasn't in charge of the House,
Jo wasn't in charge of the Senate,
Jo (as VP) SURE wasn't in charge of the Executive branch
How sad!
and if, GOD forbid; Jo becomes President, does Anyone on Earth think he'd be in charge ?
I went on the record in March with my relatives on a text message that they would not have a convention in Milwaukee and that Biden wouldn’t make it to the election. I further predicted Big Mike will be the nominatee. I stand by prediction, but now add Kamala Harris as VP. BTW l live in Milwaukee.
Joe will appear from his basement.
Thats gonna look like a regional Mary Kay sales meeting.

"To the manor born."
"And Joe Biden was born to lead." I'm looking at the cover of a Hilary Clinton hagiography from 2016: "Some Girls Are Born to Lead." Democrats seem to be very big on Anointed Ones lately.
Joe is the last thing any Democrat will want in charge of anything. They have all these shadowy types to run things and do stuff with the ChiComs quietly.
The polls are even more useless than they were in 2016. They might get the Ingas all confident and maybe suppress the turnout a bit. As I have posted before, Republicans will crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump. The Independents and waverers will see the videos of the riots and decide.
Born to be in charge, and finally getting his chance - at 78.
Can anyone recall anyone ever expressing regret that Obama and not Biden was the Chief Executive or that Hillary and not Biden was the Democratic nominee?.....Biden might very will get elected President by running on the platform that he's not Trump. After all, he did get to be the nominee by running on the fact that he's not Bernie Sanders.
Born to be in charge, and finally getting his chance - at 78.
That room looks very unimpressive. But maybe it will grow on me.
Really, why not just have it at Joe's house? He could fire up the grill, pass out some beers and masks, and they could nominate him right there.
Born to be in charge is a claim about genetics. His brain fits in-chargeness. He hasn't shown signs of it but he might be a late bloomer.
Trump doesn't need any crowd. His mental fragility is a lefty meme.
A guy with a sense of humor gets along with no reinforcement whatsoever, and a sense of humor is the chief asset of Trump.
The left has no sense of humor beyond a boys' book of jokes. (Was there ever a girls' book of jokes?)
Born to be in charge? Even our hostess recognizes that as pure bovine excrement. This fellow who was "born to be in charge" didn't manage to win a primary in anyone of presidential races until this year. It seems that a lot of Democrat primary voters had trouble realizing that good old Slow Jow was "born to be in charge".
I'm going to say there will be no balloons and confetti because the ceiling is too low. It would look stupid.
I'm going to say there will be no balloons and confetti because trying to appear genuinely happy about the prospect of making Joe Biden president would look stupid.
Joe Biden in charge reminds me of an old Jackie Mason joke. A man is bragging about his son, a truck driver. He concludes the driver of the truck is the captain of the truck and the truck is in the transportation business therefore his son is a captain in the trucking business. I'm sure Joe thinks he is in charge. A lot of institutionalized people think they are a Napoleon Bonaparte. Joe's executive talents are more inline with that of being the head men's room attendant.
I love it when the leftist rag about Trump as if any Democrat ever elected president was a self made billionaire before he went into politics and got elected as president in his run for any office.
I'm reminded of the althouse rule regarding reporting on differences in women and men. No differences can ever be noticed unless they're in favor of women. Here any differences between Trump and Biden must reflect on the inherent superiority of Biden and the feebleness of Trump.
This is exactly why I don't follow politics closely anymore. Nobody's interested in the truth, they're just scoring points.
If they could, they would just cancel the entire Democratic National Convention. And I believe they pretty much have done so. (1) They don't want to see their own, rioting in the streets, spitting on police and destroying downtown Milwaukee, and (2) they want as little live time with Joe Biden as possible. No or few interviews. One speech- which he has already been practicing for 2 months.
Isn't that two things he believes more than anything?
Marty: The last time Tap toured America, they where, uh, booked into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it seems that now, on their current tour they're being booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh I was just wondering, does this mean uh...the popularity of the group is waning?
Ian: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no...no, no, not at all. I, I, I just think that the.. uh.. their appeal is becoming more selective.
Joe Biden has dementia. Accept that fact, and stop pretending otherwise.
What the media are doing is comparing Trump actual victory percentage in 2016 to Trump's polling percentage now. They should compare Trump's polling percentage in 2016 with his polling percentages now. Then you see that Wisconsin polling for Trump v. Clinton in 2016 closely resembles Wisconsin polling for Trump v. Sleepy Joe today. And, based on the polls on the night of the election, Trump's chances of winning were 16% and Ron Johnson's were 0.1 %. However, they both won. I know people know these things but in info war you have to repeat.

While they're waiting for the anointing, they can play Bingo - it looks like that kind of room.
Trump has been in charge of people and large organization with big budgets his entire adult life. Half a century of experience building things, making payroll, fighting bureaucrats, and solving problems which you can't just pay for by taking other peoples' money by force.
And Biden? Well, he was around, talking, lying, and skimming a nice living off taxpayers, and selling his office to foreign kleptocrats like himself. It's any easy decision once you know what you want "in charge". Being around as things happen is not being is charge. Biden has never been in charge of anything big, dynamic, valuable, and successful. He's spent his career taking credit for what other people have done, usually in spite of his efforts to slow them down or sponge off their profits. I hope we don't experiment with giving him his first try at being in charge with the most important job in world. That sounds pretty irresponsible on our part.
Biden looks like he was born to be infirm. Maybe we all were, but he's stepping up on the 18 hole.
He leads with "The thing that I believe more than anything is...".
I thinks that's a lie. Even though he has to believe it, I don't think he does.
Translation: Trump wants the assent of the governed, Biden doesn’t.
there's still going to be riots, though; right?
Joe Biden was born a long time ago. Obviously some very strange things happened in the intervening 77 years. Now he's not even in charge of his own mouth.
Two things:
As others have said, all-but-cancelling the in-person convention is a first step toward making the case for a virtual debate. Biden's handlers couldn't very well demand that he be allowed to debate from his basement (for Covid reasons, of course) in the one matchup if he somehow managed to make it to the podium at the DNC convention in front of 15,000.
(Quick aside: Again as others have noted, Biden could "win" one debate against Trump. Expectations are so low. If he garbles out a couple of somewhat-coherent sentences and barks "malarkey" at the right time after Trump finishes his own rambling, well, low-info viewers are going to be amazed and impressed. Actually, if you recall, Old Joe acquitted himself reasonably well at the last Demo debate of the season. Some speculate they doped him with Ritalin or stronger to help him last the night.)
Second, not only were there riots in Madison Tuesday night that materialized pretty much out of nowhere, there's video footage from Milwaukee of a very large urban mob torching a beautiful old Victorian house in one of the neighborhoods -- home of a supposed sex-trafficker, was the excuse. So they did it for good reason, at least. They said. Anyway, the Dems know the genie is fully out of the bottle and could reappear anytime, including during convention week. They're not going near the city with anything important.
more like 'borne', by his handlers, so as to fill the seat for Hill
Borne on the wings of abomination, the one who makes desolate
The real issue is how the votes are going to be cast in November. If the Democrat governors in key "battleground" States push through insecure mail-in voting, Biden (or whoever is running on the Democrat line) will win. Overwhelmingly. Nothing else matters.
Translation: Trump wants the assent of the governed, Biden doesn’t.
...Biden wants a scent of a squirming pre-pubescent female
The Wisconsin Center looks like it’s in a basement. Biden should feel very comfortable there.
"To the manor born."
"But to my mind, though I am native here
And to the manner born, it is a custom
More honour'd in the breach than the observance."
"I'm going to say there will be no balloons and confetti because the ceiling is too low. It would look stupid."
Not that so much as it would be a risk to the infirm like Slow Joe if he got hit with a piece of confetti or a balloon. A stiff breeze could put him on his keister, imagine an avalanche of balloons?
Watch the media band together and refuse to show footage of Joe getting in and out of a limo like they did with FDR back in the day. It tells the whole story for those with the courage to watch.
Pointless, probably even foolish, to make much of the polling data now. No need to rehash why, based on past polling performance. But, beside the obvious ones , I would entertain another reason to doubt the polling: I suspect many Trump voters aren’t responding and some may be saying “Biden”. Why?I would suggest that there were 4 primary reasons Trump’s loyalists were beside themselves with joy as the 2016 results rolled in. The LEAST of these, IMO, was thinking that Trump would be up to the tasks and deliver on his promises. We really didn’t know back then, did we? The other 3 reasons were:
1) seeing the crestfallen media types (“experts”) and the pollsters eat their words and scramble to explain; and (2) witnessing HRC just implode and shrivel up into a ball of nothing; and 3) finding out that DJT was no fool after all, inasmuch as he figured out the electoral college angle (or listened to those who did).
So… Trump supporters would just LOVE to have that joyous feeling again. And the way each Trumpian voter can contribute to that outcome is to help the pollsters blow 2020 just as they did in 2016. Why not just help them do so by saying “neither candidate"”, or saying “Biden” and watching the MAGA upset version 2.0?
Plagarist, befuddled, Joe was born to be charge??? Of what??
"Of what??"
The bag.
"And the way each Trumpian voter can contribute to that outcome is to help the pollsters blow 2020 just as they did in 2016."
I don't think this stuff has much impact. I think most people who lie to pollsters are people who are publicly Dems who nevertheless vote Republican sometimes.
Born to be in charge.
Never has been. Might never be.
Seems quite a contradiction.
Malarkey.
The claim by Joe about Joe seems at odds with the fact that Biden has been in the public for decades, while Trump mostly ran his business while out of the public eye. Sure, Trump made his brand very public which is good marketing, but he didn't stand to listen for applause by the audience like Biden often did. When did Trump join the public speaking tours often done by other celebrities?
What a load of baloney. He isn't even in charge of himself.
Joe Biden has never been in charge of anything.
All great performers and athletes need the rumble and feedback of the crowd to drive them to peak performance, the quote is an insult to Biden.
If abortion had been legal 77 years ago we could all be spared this today.
