"We cannot arrest people when we’re trying to hold ground because of the sheer size, the dynamics and the wanton violence that’s coming out there."

"There’s simply more of them than us," said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, quoted in "George Floyd Updates: ‘Absolute Chaos’ in Minneapolis as Protests Grow Across U.S." (NYT).
Gunshots rang out near a different police precinct and flames streamed from businesses over several city blocks — a gas station, a post office, a bank, a restaurant — as residents asked where the police and firefighters had gone.
Gunshots rang out... and flames streamed.... The NYT is writing as if human individuals are not in the picture even as the Governor is speaking specifically about people and calling attention to the us-versus-them situation.
Commissioner John Harrington of the state’s Department of Public Safety said the police were preparing to be at the center of an “international event” on Saturday, pledging to "restore order” on the same Minneapolis block that was burning as he spoke. Mr. Harrington said he expected the largest crowds the state had ever seen.
What does that mean — an “international event”? Is he characterizing the rioters as foreigners?

ADDED: Some people in the comments are saying that all Harrington meant is that people in other countries are paying attention to what's happening in Minneapolis — something like the old Chicago 1968 chant "The whole world is watching." But now I am seeing that Governor Walz is saying things that make it sound as though there are international elements to the riots: "Furious Gov. of Minnesota says George Floyd protests are being manipulated by 'domestic terrorists' and international forces trying to destabilize the nation and fully mobilizes the National Guard as US descends into chaos" (Daily Mail):
The governor of Minnesota has called for full mobilization of the state's National Guard, as he suggested that foreign and extremist influences are fueling chaos as protests over the in-custody death devolve into violence in cities across the country....

'As you saw this expand across the United States, and you start to see whether it be domestic terrorism, whether it be ideological extremists to fan the group, or whether it be international destabilization of how our country works,' he continued....

'The cartels, who are wondering if there was a break in their drug transmissions, are trying to take advantage of the chaos. That's why this situation is on a federal level.'

It would be inconvenient to describe the human individuals involved. No useful narrative there.

Deflecting attention from the actual local looters and arsonists, plus perhaps an allusion to Antifa infiltration. He's not blaming Somalis, is he?

No, he means so many people are watching, he can't afford to make a mistake. He's afraid to act. Picture Andrew Jackson. Now picture the opposite. That is who is in charge in every one of these riot municipalities (and most of the states).

I don't think this is what he meant, but if you don't consider that there is an international influence tearing apart the fabric of US society, you've not been paying attention to the last 50 or so years. Not paranoia. Just reality. Just as the US is trying to influence the citizenry of let's say, Iran or China, there are forces at work easily manipulating the thoughts and emotions of Americans. We're too easy a target, especially with a mix of our education system (more and more influenced by the Chinese), social media, and our legacy media.

Wonder how or why our press kept propping up the Russia collusion case when it was clearly fiction from the start? Or how Antifa keeps funded and keeps organized? Or why you cannot say Wuhan Virus without the tsk, tsk wagging fingers coming at you?

These riots are neither spontaneous or completely native born. It is an American event that is now being manipulated by International parties.

I saw the entire press event in the middle of the night. The governor seems like a decent, straight talking guy....for a leftie pol. The mayor is an ass. But the governor made a fundamental mistake when he imposed a curfew without a strong plan to ensure compliance. At 8 PM, the state police made bold public address announcements about the curfew, tossed some gas canisters, and then beat a hasty retreat along with the national guard. They weren’t seen again for hours. They left the streets to the predators.

One key point the governor made repeatedly is that the “protestors” include many people who have other foul intentions and use sophisticated tactics to cause harm. He called them “global anarchists”.

I liked Trump’s word: THUGS

Missing in all of this is acknowledgement that the greatest mortal threat that blacks face is not from the police. It’s from urban black men and their baby mamas if you include abortion.

This gets to my point in the previous post. These riots are well organized and funded, very likely, at least partially by Soros. Even though these are Dem cities, in purple to blue states, they are aimed at ultimately depriving Trump of a second term. It is Blue cities burning, because that is where the city governments allow it to happen. In a lot of states, shooting arsonists, esp by the police, is legally justified. Heck, I would probably shoot someone coming at me with bricks. Legitimate self defense. The Phoenix anti-ICE protest never went anywhere, after the police acted decisively and started arresting people. It never seemed to really get out of hand in DC, withe police well bolstered with Secret Service in riot gear pushing back aggressively. Deep Blue cities, like Minneapolis and Atlanta, are AntiFA and BLM safe spaces and sanctuary cities. The cops are held back, and the rioters are give a green light. So, those cities are the ones to burn.

Meanwhile, I also see this as the death knell for D.C. statehood. If the District is going to refuse to provide public order, allowing mobs to roam the streets of the nation's capital, then the federal government can never relinquish control over the jurisdiction.

Thetwo means of ending riots has been well understood since the early days of the Texas Rangers. You detain, remove, disable, or kill the mob leadership and the mob dissolves. Even looting gang members have a sense of self preservation. Alternately, you let the riot continue until the mobs tire out and go home, then you put out the fires. The latter method has been preferred by Dem mayors since at least 1992.

It would be an interesting test to return to the former method, and a gruesome one.

The point of contact of the conflict part, shot from their building lobby.
It was definitely an us-against-them take, where the camera crews and commenters were on the police side behind their lines. The people on camera certainly seemed surprised and threatened.

The people attacking the building most aggressively were white, those smashing windowd and throwing things, though the bulk of the crowd was black. The police seemed 50:50 black and white.

I also heard the Atlanta mayors speech. Very loud and angry but strangely confused. She does present quite well and is quite attractive, for a politician. Thats one to watch, in re political futures. Those were her backers (CNN) that were attacked, and those were her police. The point was noted above about relief through the ballot being, in such cases, being rather incoherent.

After the latest news conference just this last hour, it seems that by those they have arrested the authorities have seen infiltration by groups other than legitimate protestors. These people are mostly from out of state and who knows, maybe even from out of the Country. There are forces at play here that don’t care about police abuse on the US, as they are trying to foment anarchy.

The words “bugaloo” and white supremacy have been used this AM by news commentators. I don’t know if there’s anything to base this theory on in those that have been arrested and information the authorities are now learning, but it’s an interesting twist in the rioting and mayhem happening. People have been shot by people shooting into the crowds of protestors by people with long guns. What is happening here? White supremacy groups are not only found in the US.

Antifa is a possibility, but it doesn’t make sense for Antifa to be not on the side of the protestors and shooting into the crowds of protestors. Something is afoot here and it’s not legitimate protestors or even Antifa who are doing the rioting, I suspect.

Last year when the 15 Klan boobs from Indiana held a rally in downtown Dayton there were hundreds of Antifa "counter-protestors" looking for trouble. Luckily the police were having none of it and nothing got started. I afraid the Antifa will use the cover of the protest against police brutality to initiate violence.

While looking up more on the term “Boogaloo”, it appears that it’s a movement of sorts. Convoluted and confusing, crossing ideologies.

The Boogaloo Movement Is Not What You Think

“On the internet, meanwhile, a largely white, and far right movement publicly contended over what risks its members should take to support a black man killed by police.

On the Facebook page, Big Igloo Bois, which at the time of writing had 30,637 followers, an administrator wrote of the protests, “If there was ever a time for bois to stand in solidarity with ALL free men and women in this country, it is now”.

They added, “This is not a race issue. For far too long we have allowed them to murder us in our homes, and in the streets. We need to stand with the people of Minneapolis. We need to support them in this protest against a system that allows police brutality to go unchecked.”

One commenter added, “I’m looking for fellow Minneapolis residents to join me in forming a private, Constitutionally-authorized militia to protect people from the MPD, which has killed too many people within the last two years.”

Open source materials suggest that, for now, the apocalyptic, anti-government politics of the “Boogaloo Bois” are not monolithically racist/neo-Nazi. As we have observed, some members rail against police shootings of African Americans, and praise black nationalist self defense groups.

But the materials also demonstrate that however irony-drenched it may appear to be, this is a movement actively preparing for armed confrontation with law enforcement, and anyone else who would restrict their expansive understanding of the right to bear arms. In a divided, destabilized post-coronavirus landscape, they could well contribute to widespread violence in the streets of American cities.”

YoungHegelian said...

I've said this before & I'll keep saying it: the first victim of the hard left is always the moderate left. The Democrats who run Minneapolis & the state of Minnesota are finding this out the hard way. Are there looters out there? Yes, but there's also a cadre of trained skirmishers who will keep the chaos going as long as possible. These people are Stalinists, and they are trained to "push ahead until you meet steel". And they will, until the government finds some steel to put in front of them.

Read this article from Powerline to see how pitiful is the response from the state & local governments.

This is shaping up to be the election of 1968 all over again --- moderate Democrats fail to stand against hard left agitation & the Right is seen as standing against not only wanton street violence but against the moderate left's incompetence in governing.

I'm inclined to think that "international" means "the whole world is watching." The question of what is directed or inspired or homegrown has come up in relation to terrorism, but it can be applied to activism as well. What's going on is homegrown, but there are international trends at work that may lead some to view what's going on as internationally inspired. To say that it's directed from overseas would be going too far. One might wonder, though, if Antifa or anarchist groups do have international exchanges with activists from one country turning up in other countries for protests and riots.

The curtain is pulled away from the violent underbelly that exists in our culture. It has been given an opportunity to tear the veil away. And it should be a wake-up call to everyone who lives under the mistaken belief that the vast majority of those on the Left are good people.

From the Antifa terrorists that began in Washington State and have now metastasized, to the Academic bullies use violence to stifle dissent we find that the people who hate America are willing to burn it down.

I heard Brian Kilmeade interview "moderate" Democrat Harold Ford who would begin a sentence with effusive praise for police but before he ended the thought, there came the ... "BUT." And what followed the BUT was his excuse for the burners and the looters as "mourners" who were there to right racial wrongs. Every. Damn. Time. And Kilmeade was his echo.

This group, the Boogalloo Bois also showed up at the Shutdown protests, back in early May.

The ‘Boogaloo Bois’ Are Bringing Their AR-15s and Civil War Ideology to the Lockdown Protests
The far-right “boogaloo” meme, which refers to an impending civil war or violent anti-government rebellion, is now spilling out into the real world.

The younger, shitposting face of the armed far-right — often called “boogaloo bois” — have been showing up at anti-lockdown protests across the U.S., toting their AR-style rifles and wearing their trademark Hawaiian shirts and leis.

It’s a troubling sign that the far-right “boogaloo” meme, used to refer to or even incite an impending civil war or violent anti-government rebellion, is now spilling out into the real world.

On Monday, a group of heavily armed men — including at least one with links to the boogaloo movement — were arrested following a tense standoff with SWAT outside Big Daddy Zane’s Bar in West Odessa, Texas. The men claimed they were protecting the bar, whose owner was defying Texas’ lockdown orders by remaining open. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott loosened some restrictions on businesses in recent weeks, but bars remain shuttered.”

Democrats made every excuse for the riots and looting until they realized the optics were not in their favor anymore. Now they're frantically trying to find someone, or something, even if it's the Russians who formed an alliance with White Nationalists burning down Blue cities so they don't have to own the responsibility for the chaos they cheered on.

I'm old enough to remember the Shouts of POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!

I know little to nothing about the funding and organization of anarchistic groups. There were riots last night in freeking Eugene Oregon. Eugene! There's no students on campus. This has the stench of an organized mob.
BTW, nothing promotes a better understanding between opposing sides than rioting and looting.

Russian Collusion Truther Inga: "This group, the Boogalloo Bois ....." blah blah blah.

Lefties are burning democrat cities to the ground across the nation, proudly, and the lefty media is defending it across all lefty networks...but Inga says Nope! Its a bunch of right wingers!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Inga, is that what Mueller told you?!

Best lunatic Inga conspiracy yet!

Btw, Inga has not written one word in response to the lefties murdering a federal officer in Oakland last night.

Sorry federal officer and family, in Inga world you simply dont count.

Question asked: Why are so many lefty celebrities donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to bail out rioters if other quite dumb lefties like Inga keep claiming those rioters are russians and white supremacists?

Wearing Hawaiian shirts makes one a boogaloo supporter? Has to be a new leftie talking point. I’ve seen it several times in the last 48 hours, but never before. Has this important information ever before appeared on this blood? I know there have been posts about men in shorts. I wear exclusively long trousers except for swimming and sport. Hawaiian shirts, OTOH, are a basic part of my warm weather non-work wardrobe. Now I’m wondering if I should wear them more often.

One gets the government one deserves. The citizens of the Peoples Republic of Minnesota have been asleep at least since they elected Jesse Ventura governor. What's going on in the Twin Cities and elsewhere are coordinated, well-funded riots. Walz and every elected politician in Minnesota should be tossed out of office in November. If any Minnesotan is waiting for Keith Ellison to act, well, don't hold your breath.

A quick gander over at bellingcat dot com reveals it to be a “wheat from chaff” site. There’s a lot of them around. There are similar sites I frequently peruse that I refer to as “grain of salt” sites. There’s something truthful in every post or article. But you have to figure out what the truth is.

If you’re involved in any kind of classified work, you should read “Military And Intelligence Personnel Can Be Tracked With The Untapped Beer App”. Very much the embodiment of the WWII poster “Loose Lips Sink Ships “. Little aside- during my time on subs, family members would constantly ask my wife where I was going to next. Many never believed her when she said she didn’t know. She didn’t. I didn’t tell her, she never asked. I lucked out and found someone who instinctively understood that the fewer people who knew where Point B was when traveling from A to B, the better my chances of getting there undetected and unharmed.

Their article on “The Invasion of Venezuela, Brought To You By Silvercorp USA” is chaff. There’s a lot of misinformation about that misadventure. The whole incident seems more to be Venezuelan disinformation to distract the world from the inconvenient fact that one of their warships was sunk by an unarmed cruise ship.

I have heard nothing about looters and arsonists being arrested and identified but plenty about the press being arrested and shot at by police. It seems like we need a completely new police force-legal system here.

I’m sorry that your senility prohibits you from understanding that this group is the SAME group that has been seen at the riots in various cities and were seen at the shutdown protests.

Gospace: I have heard nothing to indicate that Hawaiian shirts are suddenly the Mark of the Beast as far as Inga's Boogaloo Boys are concerned, but they ARE (and have been for quite a while) a popular dress item for the concealed carry crowd. Some crossover is possible, of course -- especially when dealing with a buncha Texans defending a West Odessa watering hole against the Karens of Local Government. (I should add that I'm working on the assumption that Inga's post was meant in jest.) So, if you want the cachet of the CCers without the effort and expense, just up your wardrobe investment.

yes, the weapons recovered were fake, there was a rogue general, who was wanted for drug related matters, that was probably a ringer, for the chavez regime, similar things happened in hungary in 56, in poland in the 50s, in cuba in the 60s, google rolando cubela, etc etc

nearly all the journalists are with the black bloc except andy ngo, and you see the grief he gets for posting factual info,

I admit I was wrong. It seems Minnesota is now saying the riots (no longer protests) are the fault of white supremacists and Russians. I shit you not!

That explains why the far left celebrities are paying the bonds of those arrested.

At a certain point, rioting becomes an insurrection. While looting is not a capital crime, deadly force is authorized to put down an insurrection. The longer this goes on, the closer we get to that certain point.
