"Hachette’s publishing of Woody Allen’s memoir is deeply upsetting to me personally and an utter betrayal of my brother..."

"... whose brave reporting, capitalized on by Hachette, gave voice to numerous survivors of sexual assault by powerful men... This provides yet another example of the profound privilege that power, money and notoriety affords. Hachette's complicity in this should be called out for what it is and they should have to answer for it."

Said Dylan Farrow, quoted by AP.

Her brother, Ronan Farrow commented on Twitter. Hachette — his publisher too — was "wildly unprofessional," he says:

AND: "They’re all connected through the democratic party."

Ah yes. More news from the wonderful world of show business.

Keep buying those movie tickets, enablers.

Buying a ticket to see "Parasite" allowed Woody to molest his daughter? Well, okay then.

“They’re all connected through the democratic party.”

THAT is the thing of it; The Actual rulers of this country, ARE the democrat party
The attack against President Trump wasn't so much a coup; as: The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

Those crazy, stupid, people; thought that THEY should have some input into this country,
so they elected Trump. Crazy! Stupid!
There is only ONE ruling class in this country; and they do NOT tolerate dissension
Not from Rose McGowan
Not from Ronan farrow
Not from Bernie
Not from Trump

Bow DOWN before your overlords and masters; you pathetic people!

"They’re all connected through the democratic party."

It’s a party that hasn’t truly been democratic for many decades.

I thought there was a custom, that the accused has a right to respond on the same publishing platform. Op-ed, then counter-op-ed? Same newspaper, same publisher?

Daphne Merkin wrote a long, very interesting article about Soon-Yi Previn and Woody Allen, based on a series of interviews with them. The article tells how their relationship began and developed.

More privileged whining from the Farrows. Must the world clear alll its actions with Dylan Farrow and Sachel first? It is only professional? Ethical? We run this corner of the world, do not fail to pay us proper tribute.

Wasn't the mother of those children an insane woman?

So, if someone might be upset by something, that something should not be published. Is that what is being argued or implied with a straight face here?

Johnathan Birks said...

The Farrows should welcome this development. It's been years (decades, really) since Woody's released a movie worth discussing, but this book gives them, and us, a reason to discuss his misdeeds anew.

So Ronan Farrow was running some racket to prevent Woody Allen's memoir from being published and now is upset that the one publisher that would publish Ronan would also publish Woody Allen's version of events? I can see the roots of "Cancel Culture" there.

I read Mike’s article. Every one of them
Is nuts.

"They’re all connected through the democratic party."

Isn't that the party that 4 years ago was saying everyone's daughter's pussies were going to be up for grabs due to the election of President Trump?

Who exactly has been doing the pussy grabbing, past & present?

I don't think Woody Allen would use his memoir to settle scores. Maybe a few wan jokes, but mostly tales of how he and Diane Keaton hammered out the lines in Annie Hall. Woody knows how to play the game....He may have done something to Dylan and he certainly has a thing for underaged girls, but he wasn't any kind serial rapist or abuser.....He's a talented man. He writes good roles for women. He used to be celebrated--probably too much so--for his wit and wisdom. Now they're trying to shut him down completely for crimes that happened decades ago, if they happened at all.....He's no martyr but neither is he some foul beast. I'm not sure what attitude to strike, but I think he should be allowed to publish his memoir.

I understand that Ronan believes his sister's story, but to insist that everyone else must also fully accept it as the unassailable truth is ludicrous. I actually admire Ronan for his talent and work, but I have no respect for his bullying attitude. There is simply no evidence to corroborate Dylan's and Mia Farrow's allegations and plenty of reason for fair-minded people viewing the situation from afar to question their reliability as accusers. If Ronan can't see or accept this, he's a dolt.

The kids are just defending and siding with their mother. When you side with Mom you are always defending her to the hilt. So my hat's off to the kids standing up for Mom. I've heard all the stories she's batshit crazy whatever. The only kid siding with Woody is the one that stands to inherit his considerable Fortune.

Wait, so, there's a publisher named Hatchette? Which makes anything they publish literally a Hatchette job?

Woody Allen is an important artist of the previous century. I loved his early films and Annie Hall is a work of genius, both funny and sad, and true to life. That Woody was a bad person is sad, but common with artists (and actors). This fact does not change the value of the art he created; only the morons in the left-wing think artists need to be pure of heart to make art. I am glad Woody will publish his autobiography, and I am ashamed that his son thinks said book should never have been allowed to be published. Grow up Mr. Farrow!

Earnest Prole said...

I wouldn’t believe any word out of Mia Farrow’s mouth, much less the rote accusations of child molestation she made at the height of her child-custody dispute with Woody Allen.

Woody's assigned demons in Hell will look like 10-12-year-old girls who will immediately turn into Woody's mother and aunts whenever he has an impure thought. Or mid tug-job.

Woody may be a bad dude.
It's not wrong to publish his memoir without what's being called a 'fact check'. He can say what he wants.

Rather a long time ago now, I passed the point of "Who gives a damn?" regarding Woody Allen's weird proclivities and life choices, and Sinatra's boy's obsession with the sex lives of the rich and powerful.
