"Democrats are about twice as likely as Republicans to say the coronavirus poses an imminent threat to the United States, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted this week."

"And more Democrats than Republicans say they are taking steps to be prepared, including washing their hands more often or limiting their travel plans. Poll respondents who described themselves as Republicans and did not see the coronavirus as a threat said it still felt remote because cases had not been detected close to home and their friends and neighbors did not seem to be worried, either."

Reuters reports.

If a person has great enough benefits to be able to call in and get three weeks off to self quarantine because their neighbor just came home from China or because they feel a little run down, more power to them.

Even if they do, they may think (and maybe for good reason) that if they miss too much work, if work piles up too much, then they won't have a job to come back to.

We’ll leave that to you Trumpists. Also, Trump Derangement-Derangement Syndrome has infected this blog’s comments section for a few years now.

You are part of the open borders party and you are criticizing the president for his reaction to this virus. To the extent the president can do anything Trump has done it. He has blocked travel to/from China and is trying to control our borders.

You are actively trying to keep our borders open.

You made up a bunch of stupid lies about cuts to the CDC. They were blatant and completely fictitious and you are still running with it. Additionally it was Obama who made it impossible to test at multiple labs.

The CDC has a larger budget every year. There have been no cuts. Trump reversed Obama's stupid regulations. Only a piece of shit like you could run with this garbage.

You re trying to make this problem worse. You are cheering every time people die. You cheer every time the stock market goes down. You cheer every time someone's life is made worse.

Then you use this as a political weapon to gain power. Everything you want to do to our country would make this situation worse.

You are such a debased and ridiculous piece of shit.

Tesco is limiting the amount of baked beans, dry pasta and UHT milk its customers can buy to ensure they have enough supply, as its shelves were emptied across Britain.

On Saturday the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Britain rose to 206, with scientists warning diagnoses are doubling every other day. On its current trajectory, experts fear the UK could breach 1,500 by the end of the week.

Supermarkets have been forced to act after their shelves were plundered again on Saturday, with customers reporting shortages of ready meals, toilet roll and paracetamol.

Tesco took the decision to limit some food and drink to five items per customer, in addition to antibacterial gels, wipes and sprays."

Not everyone can actually work from home on the internet either. Your plumber, mechanic, DOCTOR, nurses, receptionist at the Dr's office.... can't work from home.

The people who are ringing up your toilet paper and water at Costco can't do that from home. If Coscto (for example) decided to close its doors for 4 weeks so its employees can be safe, the shit would hit the fan!!! How dare there not be someone available to sell me my STUFF!!!

How would goods be delivered to the stores. How about gasoline? Maybe the gasoline companies should stop delivery as their drivers stay home? As my truck driving BIL says..."If you bought it...a truck brought it."

There are many many jobs that are vital to the continuation of the normal running of society. Utility workers. Those people can't just stay home to be on the safe side. Society would collapse.

There are places you should try to avoid to not get sick...where are they? EVERYWHERE!!!

Of course if you are really sick, coughing, feverish, you should stay home. SHOULD is the operative word. Many people cannot. What are you going to do? Put them in jail?

"It’s the spread of a virus from young healthy people who can fight it off to the vulnerable population who can’t that is the problem"

We're all in this together, whether we like it or not. "Vulnerable population" means the elderly, those over 60 and especially those over 80 and anyone with "underlying health issues, especially respiratory issues.

The younger you are, the more it seems you will be able to resist the virus yourself. However, while resistant, you might easily become a "super spreader." Unfortunately, the younger you are, the less time you have had to develop common sense and a strong moral code.

At whatever age you are, whether you're in a rural or urban community, if you are knowingly, willfully spreading this virus that seems to be extremely infectious and to which we will not have a reliable vaccine for at least another year so that our first responder health care workers who are on the front lines —those who are most running TO the danger not FROM the danger— if you are knowingly or willfully putting the health of health care workers at risk, their health and their ability to do their jobs which include treating everyone else NOT suffering from covid 19, you should stop and ask yourself: Am I no better than a drunk/impaired driver, a mass murderer, a school shooter, a terrorist?

(Short answer: No, not really.)

How many people do you suppose have touched your groceries? How many other people who are also working driving, filling gas tanks, pushing paper for billing are in that loop of your grocery deliveries? 10? 20?

Of course, the main thing is that YOU get your deliveries.

Over 1000 people in the US were already dead by the time Obambi got around to declaring the H1N1 virus a health emergency in October of 2009. And that was long after the CDC in June of of 2009 had declared it a pandemic.

Not a word of complaint from the Inga's and LLR-lefty Chuck's of the world.

Not. A. Single. Word.

Meanwhile, even the WHO has declared Trump's rapid decision to cut off travel from infected locales gave the US a critical 3 to 4 weeks of extra time to begin dealing with this.

Of course, that ban would have worked even more effectively if an obama State Dept holdover in Asia didn't decide to take matters into his own hands personally and approved that flight full of sick passengers to return to the US.

On top of that, Trump had to undo the stupid and typically lefty obama rules that centralized the test kit production and lab controls during his tenure.

All on top of Nancy "never letting a good crisis go to waste" by holding off the funding bill until after Super Tuesday so dems could run ads criticizing Trump for not kicking more cash over to the effort. And then, when the bill was passed in the House the dems made sure to lard it up with other stuff they wanted.

Because, again, never let a good crisis go to waste.

Fortunately, thus far it does not appear that the dems/LLR-lefty attempts to create another Katrina (which was itself a hoax attack on W) to use politically has been successful.

But they aren't going to stop trying. That's for sure.

Well, if she walks in and cant figure out basic stuff in the same way you struggle with things, I'll probably politely approach a supervisor and make some quiet inquiries.

In the case of someone like you, I'm sure that sort of an inquiry will not be a revelation to a supervisor.

Smoking and horrendous air pollution. Only 2% of Chinese women smoke from what I have read. The famous (infamous) second hand smoke study years ago was on Japanese women who did not smoke. They lived in 900 square foot apartments with husbands that smoked heavily.

If your parent or loved one has no brain waves and has been deemed legally and medically brain dead by the very intensive protocols, it would be an act of love to pull the plug. If you’ve never taken care of patients on all the life support equipment and the massive amount of drugs it takes to keep up their vitals signs, you don’t know just how quickly they decompose, yes decompose. Even with all the life support.

“Um, isn't that what their ammunition is for??”

As for the friend, we wouldn’t impose, even if we could. But if we did, and he turned us away, I would at least recover my CNC machine that we use to make use of that product. And he has more ammunition than I do stockpiled. He is talking getting another big gun safe, with his law partners asking him to hold onto things that are now becoming illegal in NE WA. Apparently, there are businesses that do that already in Las Vegas for people from CA.

As for the ex, legally he probably couldn’t prevent her from moving in with him. Morally, that may be different. Part of why she has that house is to keep her away from his GFs, who uniformly hated her. His relatively new wife isn’t a fan of his ex (my partner), which is why he would be more likely to just sneak delivery of foodstuffs to her (as he already does, keeping us in grass fed beef, raised a couple farms to the west of him). However, he does have a generator, and we don’t - that is scheduled to be one of my projects this summer.

My plan is to put in a system tied into the propane (and gasoline) system that runs line power through a battery, and fires up automatically whenever we lose power. Something like that. Her ex, of course, has a system like that already, that he built himself. What is weird is that we are maybe 1/4 mile, by eagle (since we have more of them than crows) flight from a hydro dam. Everyone east of us, including almost the entire town, are on power from that dam. Instead, we are on power from the dam about 30 miles down river. The result is that we lose power more often than they do.

Baloney. I don’t advocate feeding tubes for dementia patients, but if the family insists it’s their prerogative. I wouldn’t want it for my loved ones, nor do I want it for myself when and if the time comes. I’ve seen first hand what force feeding an elderly patient whose digestive track cannot absorb the nutrients in a tube feeding does. These people SUFFER. They get distended bellies, intractable diarrhea and vomit, plus inhale vomit. When you have taken care of these patients and have seen first hand how they suffer, you come back to me and we’ll talk.

Would love to see data on deaths teased out in terms of 'persons with underlying conditions' vs. 'persons with no underlying conditions'. Would a healthy 60-something succumb? How much does local urban pollution factor in? How many were smokers?

On the subject of "not everybody can stay home" - my thinking here is that those who can stay out of circulation in urban areas, should. This enables those that CANNOT to have some breathing room. I am working from home to avoid 3 hours round-trip riding in the sardine can called public transporation. This system is already stressed to the max (prior to this) and not very resilient at all. For example, all it takes is for one southbound train to be cancelled (happens due to mechanical issues). Now - hundreds of people are split between taking the next train (which is now going to be crammed with everyone in close contact) and opting for the bus instead. My route is outlying/suburban - which means very limited runs. Now we are standing room only once that train is cancelled. Buses will stop in Pioneer Square (last stop) and a transit supervisor will make sure all buses leaving Seattle take ALL the people they can. If there is room for someone to stand in the aisle - they will cram a rider in there. Maybe this has changed with the current situation, but - limited runs means limited seats. At some point you have to take the last crammed bus/train OR pay Uber over $100 to get home. Don't get me started on what the constant protesting in Seattle does to the transit system. I am shocked there hasn't been a protest yet-maybe a pause in protests is ONE good thing about this.

Have I told the story of how we rode all the way from Seattle to south of Tacoma with an open cup of urine on the bus? That happened a few months ago. I've been on the bus with people sick and vomiting, people coughing up all sorts of crap, and for some reason people LOVE to fall asleep on my shoulder - and either drool on me or snore in my ear. I won't put up with that unless they are willing to pay $200/hr. for the privilege.

Sound Transit's advice during this time is: it isn't rude to move to another seat if the person next to you seems ill. My response to this is: move WERE? I don't think transit administrators have any idea what it is like to actually USE the system during rush hour and especially during rush hour with a shortage of seats.

A suggestion as to how you could start the process...

Don’t mind any post that speaks to the substance of the blog post. Pay no attention to pro-Trump, anti-Trump, whatever-Trump sentiment that may be expressed. But examine any comments that simply comment on other commenters (purported bias, supposed past comments, alleged ideology, etc., etc.); take those comments down, and ban the author(s). And make examples of them. Your moderation problems are largely caused by a very few. A few who are reflexively, relentlessly abusive toward other commenters.

A clearer set of guidelines on what constitutes abusive commenting would help the cause.

And I guarantee that you could find a handful of candidates in the comments to this post.

I don't think it would work, ever.

Most of us work on the carrot\stick princple. I think there are very few saints among us.

Another issue with the WuhFlu - without testing, the vast majority of those who are infected most likely would not know if they got infected without being in one of the situations that are known at this point to actually be a problem - recent travel overseas to certain places, contact with a person known to be infected, etc.

So if I came in contact with a person who later was tested positive here in pugetopolis, there is likely no way for me to know that or find out.

The lack of good data and knowledge makes this all the more difficult. And the howling of the msm and the talking heads who just have to make it political does not help in the slightest.

Then there is the problem with the large number of homeless who will not under any circumstances come off the streets voluntarily - and here you cannot force them because we 'care' and they have rights (unlike the rest of us who work, pay taxes, take care of ourselves, family and friends)

Big Mike said...

I think that the reason Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to say that coronavirus poses an imminent threat to the United States is threefold:

(1) Democrats believe that the way to solve a problem is to throw money at it, which is not what Trump is doing. Ergo, given the way they think (if I can debase the word by applying it to Democrats) the solution, whatever it is, must be wrong if it doesn't include spending vast amounts of money and creating large, new, permanent bureaucracies.

(2) Many Democrats are aware that over his eight year term of office Barack Obama eased out competent people in favor of more politically reliable hacks. Given that the FDA has already applied regulatory brakes to the process of creating COVID-19 tests, and presumably vaccines if any become available, and given the number of mistakes already made by the CDC and DHS, they are more worried than people who mistakenly assume a minimal level of competence on the part of important regulatory agencies.

(3) They are aware that Democrat politicians in the House and Senate, and their bootlickers in the news media. are trying to hamsting Trump's efforts, which will necessarily result in a higher infection rate and more deaths.

The Vault Dweller said...

Good grief. People are losing perspective. Mainly because the media wants us to.

Thus far this flu season, 20,000 people reportedly have died of flu. The flu season is defined as the cold months, say late Fall to end of Winter. For discussion sake, assume that's 6 months depending how far north you live. And lets say we are 4 months into the 6 month season. That translates into 160-170 people dying TODAY, and every day of flu season. That's not actually so, as there will be peaks and tails at both ends, but as an average its factually correct.

For the full 2017-2018 season, over 60,000 people died of flu, or 10,000/month on average, over 300/day. Nobody in the media deigns to offer that perspective. Certainly not the Dems. The only person who actually offered that info was Trump personally in his initial press conference with all the docs up there with him in front of the media, none of whom bothered to note that contrast.

According to Worldometer, of all the major (ie big) countries, USA has the LOWEST cases per million population at 1.3 per million. I'd say the Administration's doing fairly well, mostly because Trump shut the border very early on. A certifiably racist act per his enemies.

Fatality percentages vary greatly by country. If we can believe China's numbers (which I don't), their fatality rate is 3.8%. S Korea's is .007%, yet S Korea has the second most reported cases in the world, although less than 10% of the reported China cases(7,134 vs 80,696).

I'll be 76 next month. Never had a flu shot. Had the flu several times in my life, don't recall going to the doc for it. Nyquil is my magic bullet--swig that and stay in bed with chills and fever for several days, then its over. I'm not stocking anything. I don't wash my shoes. I still have lunch with my friends, most of whom are around my age. I do wash my hands more, and we jokingly (but not jokingly) bump elbows instead of shaking hands. And I wash my hands.

For Meade, who usually is a calming and insightful voice of reason on this blog, I'd say this. Think of the last time you went to the grocery store. You get a cart. You wipe the handle down, but probably not the tops of sides and front. You select things off the shelf, not knowing what the state of health is of the person who stocked it. People pick up produce bare handed to see if they want that particular avocado, peach, sweet potato etc, often putting it back and selecting another. On and on. Every item is handled by checkout people as they scan it. You bring the bags home with your stuff. Maybe you wash your hands when you get home, religiously, before you unpack and put stuff away. Uh oh. Even the bags themselves have been touched by store personnel, unless you bring your own and pack the items as they are scanned yourself, not by the store person.

That's just an every day grocery store visit. It is literally impossible not to be exposed to stuff unless you live hermit's life.

I'd call this illness just another strain of flu for all practical purposes. Most of the deaths in the US have been clustered in one WA state elder-care facility, with very old and mostly sick people.

Also, as a side note, I find the threads with all the back and forth between Inga, ARM, Chuck etc. very tiresome. I skip any of their posts and any replies to them--empty calories re my reading enjoyment on this blog. If they are ignored, meaningful traffic will go up substantially. I come here and spend a lot of time most days reading the comments on topics I'm interested in here, as I find the overwhelming majority of posters lucid and interesting whether I agree with their analysis or not. The scrimmages with the Ingas of the world are dead to me though.

For those of you that missed or requested that I repost my post from the topic a couple days ago "Will coronavirus be the end of political rallies?" Here it is:

The WHO 3.4% fatality estimate is bogus.

China has had 3000 of the 3500 or so that have been reported dead. I seriously doubt the Chinese numbers. Likely more died and more were infected in China, but China isn’t telling. It’s also true that nobody knows how many were actually infected, because mild cases don’t get into the system to be counted.

On the other hand, having lived in Shanghai for several years fairly recently, Chinese numbers, if taken at face value and just added into the equation, will certainly lead to a higher fatality rate than would occur in most modern Western countries, especially the US.

Facts you don’t see in the news regarding China:

1. The Chinese smoke like chimneys, EVERYWHERE. Cigarette stores the size of 7-11 abound in the cities. Way more people, per capita, smoke there than in the US, and second hand smoke is a non issue in China. They don’t care. They smoke while eating at home and in restaurants, in airports, even in Chinese hospitals.

2. The air is badly polluted. We never saw stars or the moon while we lived in Shanghai. Literally. Often we couldn’t see buildings a few hundred feet away. Beijing is worse, and the second and third tier (size-wise) cities have awful air. Flying across the interior of China you can see the plumes and clouds of smog over the cities. Shanghai is the richest, most modern city in China. Wuhan would be way down the list of cleanest/modern cities in China.

3. They have for the most part terrible sanitation standards. Dishes are often washed in cold water without soap. It was routine to see Chinese squatting by a community faucet washing pots and dishes straight from the cold spigot, sans any sign of soap or detergent. The vast number of ordinary Chines dwellings do not have hot water.
Chinese men spit notoriously, big phlegmy globs, ANYWHERE. I never understood why, it must be cultural. Singapore outlaws it, by the way. They spit on restaurant floors, sidewalks, you name it. Once when I was at an airport counter, the adjacent male agent spat several times on the floor. Disgusting.
Young children are dressed in split pants, and they squat and do their business right on the sidewalks. Toilets for the Chinese are almost all an uncovered hole in the floor that goes somewhere unknown. The water is undrinkable by western standards.

4. Huge numbers of people live on top of one another. Wuhan has 11 million people, but is a second tier city. When we lived in Shanghai from 2008-2011, there were 25 cities over 25 million people. ChungChing has over 35 million.

5. Chinese hospitals are primitive by our standards. When we were briefed on how to get by, upon arrival in China, we were instructed to find the closest private hospital and make sure we had the taxi instructions with us so we could get there if needed. We were instructed to avoid the public hospitals if at all possible.

My point in all this is that the mortality rate in China will be many times the mortality rate here due to the factors above. Their lungs are in worse shape than the average American’s lungs due to the smoking and pollution, and the risk levels for catching the disease are exacerbated by poor sanitation, medical standards, and population density.

The 2017-2018 flu season saw 60,000 people die here, and hundreds of thousands of people died globally. WHO was quiet, as I recall. Many millions ignore exhortations to get shots, each and every flu season.

They should call this corona flu, and stop stirring up panic with bogus, inflammatory reporting and conjecture. Likely many more people have the flu each year than get included in the stats, as mild cases are self treated. Likely the same is happening with this virus. So the denominator is most certainly underestimated in the coronavirus fatality rate.

I have not seen mentioned self checkout.

You can call it whatever you like. But consider that this virus is far more contagious than flu.

Haven't seen you comment here before, wbfjrr2.

Thanks for your perspective.

For mockturtle: Which flu? And the important number is the deaths, not how many are affected.

For Narayan: Good point, but how many people actually are willing to use them, especially if a checker is available. I hate them, as I feel the store is forcing me to save them personnel costs.

Mark, I don't often post, but visit this site every day, along with many others that I enjoy. I'm retired and my leisure time hobbies are competitive sports and reading. When my pets and wife are not demanding that I do something else.

Thanks for your note, I enjoy reading yours as well.

Narayan, your self checkout mention is a good one.

Here's another thing to consider--how many people clean their credit card when somebody else handles it for a transaction? Here in Tucson, often the clerk behind a retail counter actually does the scanning, as do a number of doctors offices etc.

I've started paying attention to all the things we do throughout the day that, theoretically at least, expose us. They are unlimited. e.g. opening the email? or an Amazon delivery package? Who then immediately washes their hands?

I'm not going to get into the bloodsport of which President had the better response to coronavirus. I don't think ANY President could politically manage the kind of response that would have kept the country perfectly safe from it. I don't even think that coronavirus is going to be remarkably more deadly than SARS. But the idea of curfews is making amateur preppers out of people, and Inga's not even in the top 10% of hardcore liberal nurses I personally know, so here's something free for her and anyone else:

First of all, security. I'm not saying be able to drive off a Marine platoon, but if you can't make the odd gangbanger or desperate grasshopper go away, the food isn't yours. It's theirs. At minimum imagine someone breaking into your place with an axe. Can you defend yourself? If you don't live with at least one other person, or live in an apartment/ condo, the odds are you can't. If you say, "hey, let me worry about me," that's good enough.

Secondly, have you tried living out a day or two with just the supplies you have? No new groceries opened, no tap water, no electricity, nothing? Try. I had to be in a pretty bad storm before I realized I needed more candles. You might need more sweaters. You might need a generator. Even lacking books will drive some people to very quick madness, while others will venture into their own imaginations.

Thirdly, no one's coming to help. A lot of people might be coming to sponge off you, or hurt you. But no one's helping unless that was the plan.

Wbxxyz: If you take the greater incidence of contagion and extrapolate the consequent number of deaths compared to those of influenza, the number could be [and possibly will be] staggering. Let us hope that seasonal change will end the pandemic, for there is nothing else on the immediate horizon.

I wear gloves and carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer while shopping. We've replaced fresh produce with frozen. I wash my hands immediately after putting away groceries. Dust Bunny Queen is right — you can't avoid all exposure to viruses but you can avoid infection. Wash your hands properly and frequently. Distance yourself from people who do not. It's really not difficult.

You gonna wait until you have symptoms, or you gonna start same day you hear the news?

Here in Virginia, Governor Northam (he of the yearbook photo in blackface who has been pushing for gun confiscation and post partum abortion legislation, has announced that the risk to the public is low.

Now I'm worried.

So all students in contact with teacher, and their families will be quarantined. If not, any resulting fatalities are because of local governmental failure

How about buying oranges or tangerines, or melons that can have their shells washed, bananas can be washed too, even with bleachy soapy water. Potatoes and other vegetables that you can wash in bleach water and then peel are fine too.

Mark said...

No, it will be George W's fault.

Meade said...

from Full Moon's link: "Victoria’s chief medical officer, Dr Brett Sutton, urged people to get tested immediately if they suspected they had coronavirus rather than going to work with cold-like symptoms."

Testing is key. If in any doubt, don't go spreading about.

Inga,

Over 20,000 people have died this year in the US from influenza, including children, and only about a dozen health compromised seniors have died. Have you no sense of proportion or shame? If Obozo was in the White House, the media would have zero interest in reporting on this. When Obozo was president in 2009 when the Swine Flu broke out, over 20,000 people were hospitalized and over 1,000 died over a 6 month period before that Jackass got off the golf course and declared a national emergency. You are as big of a clown as he is. Naff off

Why the concern about toilet paper shortage? Seems that stocking up on canned food makes more sense if a crisis is expected. Must be some sort of rational reason or is it simple hysteria?

Toilet paper is pretty much the "perfect storm for hoarding":

1: A lot of it, esp. at Costco, comes from China. Chinese production is down thanks to Covid19. So supplies are likely to drop / price go up, in the near future

2: It's non-perishable

3: You're going to use it, eventually

4: It's currently not that expensive, so it's something you can afford to "go long" on

So, if you have space to store it, and you have some spare money, then might as well by it now, and not run out

Meade said...

"You gonna wait until you have symptoms, or you gonna start same day you hear the news"

Same day. Until either 2 symptom-free weeks are up or I can get tested.

So don't be an Obozo—take this thing seriously. Also, Obama was above criticism. Trump is not. That is one more of the many good things about Trump. He doesn't need the media to shield him from criticism. Obama couldn't handle the truth. Trump can. Let a thousand anti-viral criticisms bloom!

Because nurses know very little outside of nursing. Physicians may or may not be broadly educated (my husband reads more than medical journals), but I have yet to meet a nurse who knows history or literature. They are ignorant outside of their narrow field. Inga is a prime example. That's why she makes an ass of herself when opining on politics.

wbfjrr2 said...

Mockturtle, there is a difference between taking something seriously and making up your own numbers to scare yourself and others who are susceptible to over-reactive fear.

NOBODY at this point knows what the actual numbers are or will be, as NOBODY knows the denominator in the equation (i.e. how many people have had or do have the disease but symptoms are mild enough that they aren't reported--these people likely don't even know they've had it).

So do the smart stuff (washing hands, going to the docs if you think you've been exposed or have it etc) and get on with life.

I haven't heard any of the "know it alls" in the press, politicians, or for that matter real medicos say what they would do differently from what Trump and the medical profession are doing that would be better. So far what's being done looks pretty effective.

Meanwhile in this country of 330 million, 20 deaths have been reported from the disease since we learned of it a month or two ago. An order of magnitude more people are dying of flu EVERY DAY in this same country.

Truly I have no desire to disrespect you or your opinion. I'm just saying, do the common sense stuff everyone is suggesting and stop imagining the worst at this point.

I wouldn't be going on any cruises though.

Inga said...

“mockturtle is obviously a very well read woman. You, Inga, are not.”

So your ignorant generalization about nurses has fallen flat on its ugly face and as I said you have absolutely no clue as to my reading preferences, you’re just ugly. Period.

wbfjrr2 said...

Meade, good example, but the world went to more than "sobering" on this one in nothing flat. So I'm guessing being quick on the uptake will have a positive effect.

At a minimum, things will be better than if it had taken six months to become "soberized".

Yeah, I made that word up, AA.

You have never mentioned any books you've read, Inga - only the idiot left wing sites you love.

You clearly know nothing about history - or you wouldn't be so stupid as to support socialism. You're a woman descended from ethnic Germans from Eastern Europe. Only an illiterate dolt or serf would be a statist with that background.

I judge by individuals. The nurses I have met personally tend to be poorly read. Mockturtle is an exception.
