The money would be better spent making our export industries more competitive or improving our schools or paying down the debt. The pharmaceutical industry and some medical device manufacturers create value, but most of the medical industry is a local service industry. It doesn't make the country more globally competitive and we shouldn't be paying a premium for that.

The argument you make is that an 18 year old should go to school under loans for 12 years earning nothing and then work for 30 years earning less than a middle manager for GM. I read all the comments- from the left, there is only one good comment on the thread- Jimbino's. Jimbino gets the problem with this group- Inga and ARM are just ludicrous.
Yang is the only person on that stage that I would hire to do anything, including be dogcatcher. I think you could elect Yang and he wouldn't be a disaster as president. But he has no chance, and this was surely his last debate.
From what I saw (I watched the first 50 minutes), Sanders was winning- more energy, had the audience behind him, and as the one under constant attack by the moderators, Sanders gets the sympathy vote by simply standing up to it all. In the latter aspect, this was strongly reminiscent of the Republican debates in 2015-16 with Trump in the role of Sanders.
The high school debate scorers no doubt had Buttuvwxyz winning this, but those people know exactly jackshit about politics- Sanders won this.
Well..it sadly went on for far more than 50 minutes, so a bit odd to render a judgement on that.
I read the PJMedia liveblog, too, along with Althouse Jr's (but he stopped halfway).

In a debate between Trump and any Democrat on that stage Trump would have to be heavily medicated, schnurff,schnurff, thick tongue dry as a popcorn fart, derailing his own thoughts mid stream and stumbling over simple words. Will be a sight to behold. - Inga
