And "conservative" David Brooks is pontificating on Pelosi and Biden:

"Brooks praised House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for "one of the best political moments of the year" when she said she does not hate President Trump. He called it a "beautiful moment" of Christian faith.

Brooks also praised Joe Biden's confrontation with a voter in Iowa, saying it showed he has vigor and "allowed him to control the news cycle.""

I know this is David Brooks, but WTF?

After visiting Madison once in my life - Summer of 2016 when it was either 90% humidity or pouring down rain - I still believe I could live there for a full year and be happy.

Having time to explore the four season (in Seattle, there are only two seasons: (1) the rainy season and (ii) the first two weeks of August).

Touring Frank Lloyd Wright buildings/residence (Yes, we got to Taliesin - on one of the hottest, humid days of the summer).

Agate hunting (Our nephew - who was a resident at UW Hospital at the time- discovered an incredible spot)

Snow at Christmas.

And finally. . . beautiful sunrises and sunsets over Lake Mendota.

A year would suffice.

Did anyone happen to catch Inga's and LLR-lefty Chuck's hero Justin Trudeau, whom Inga claimed was the Real Leader of the Free World, throwing Israel over the side just to get in good with the islamic supremacists?

And this is on top of the leaked files from commie Corbyn showing that POS is an absolute jew-hating anti-semite.

And all in the same week that Trump is being given standing ovations at the Israel-America conference and Israel continues to name train stations and streets and even a little town after Trump!

No wonder the dems went all out in the last 48 hours to try and paint Trump as anti-semitic while also looking past 2020 (since they will lose) into 2024 and began labeling Nikki Haley and anti-semite as well!!

LOLOLOL

And to think, it was literally just 6 months ago that the dems were already beginning to measure the drapes in the oval office........again!

The most enjoyable aspect of the last month has been the clear breakout civil war on the left between the bolsheviks and mensheviks, all of whom are racists according to key bolsheviks/mensheviks depending on whose side they are on.

Sharpton and his gang pronouncing Buttissgigigierreeirrirrrg and Biden not appropriate for black voters, the far let activists calling those guys outright racists (sometimes including Warren in that), Buttissgigigierreeirrirrrg himself declaring that other dem candidates are not good for black voters (the nerve of that guy, amiright?), etc etc etc.

Warren is falling so fast that she could cause Biden to throw his back out just watching her! So much so that Warren finally, FINALLY!, had to come out and admit that she has been lying all along about her hoax Native American heritage!

It seems like only yesterday Inga and LLR-lefty Chuck and the rest of the lefties were regaling us with tales of Trump fear of Warren and Booker and Buttissgigigierreeirrirrrg and Harris and....well, ALL of them!

Good times, good times...

"American Diplomat Melanie Honcharenko was discovered dead in her North Potomac, MD home early Wednesday morning. What's hilarious are Chuck Todd's facial expressions. when talking to nadler, he has his "Tell me more" face" and seems relaxed. But when Cruz came on, he suddenly became very animated, and started bouncing in his seat and hand waving with lots of "How can you say that?" and "Ok, so what about this?" facial expressions. My wife, who doesn't care about US politics, said as she walked by: "Who's that?" and walked on uninterested.

That's it. Not a lot of Brass back in those days!

There wasn't much need for brass as there weren't any troops.

Here's a very interesting article I read years ago. It's set after WWI, but the picture is largely the same:

His social duties, he found, were as demanding as his military ones. There were formal dances, failure to attend which would result in a black mark on his record, affairs at the officers’ club on weekend nights, participation in bridge games. Horses were all-important: shows, hunter trials, polo, Sunday-morning chases in pink coats, hunt breakfasts with singing of hunt songs and ballads. He had become a member of what was the seventeenth army of the world—as Chief of Staff Douglas MacArthur repeatedly pointed out to congressional appropriations committees. (When George C. Marshall officially became chief of staff, on the day Germany invaded Poland in 1939, it was said that the country had dropped to having the nineteenth army of the world.) Surpassing the United States in military power were, among other countries, Czechoslovakia, Turkey, Spain, Yugoslavia, Poland, and Romania.

Marshall was serving on the West Coast when ordered to Washington to take up his new duties. It was summer, and he asked if it was possible for the War Department to provide funds for Mrs. Marshall and him to go cross-country by train, avoiding travel via lead-footed Army transport through the blast-furnace heat of the Panama Canal. He did not make his request by telephone or telegraph; such money-consuming practices were forbidden except in cases of extreme emergency. Four letters went back and forth before the man he would replace, Gen. Malin Craig, was able to write that the cash had been scraped up.

The annual Army budget in those years, the years between the end of the First World War and the beginning of the Second, averaged in the $300 million range. That included provision for the Army Air Corps, whose pilots usually communicated with the ground by dropping notes wrapped around stones and checked their flight progress by swooping down to read town designations on railroad-station signs. The Army’s total research and development budget amounted to $5 million dollars when Marshall took over. That was one four-hundredth of what was going to be spent on the development of the atomic bomb.

But not a pacifist. Ellison had "short man syndrome." When he was in the army, he was frequently disciplined for fighting, usually the fights came when he was mocked for being Jewish and short (or so he claimed). Whatever he felt about any issue, you were instantly his enemy if you came to another position on that issue.
Look at "Repent, Harlequin . . ." The harlequin despises ordinary people. These people are not oppressed, they are middle class. There is no oppressed class in the world of the harlequin. The harlequin sees his job to be tormenting these stand-ins for the American middle class. And the harlequin always attacks them from above. Harlan Ellison is an over-rated writer, and, it seems, a nasty human being.

Yes! That's why I can't be called unpatriotic because I do not support a large military. A tiny American army was the norm before and after the civil War and WWI. I can understand the need for a large and expensive military during the cold war, but now? What are they for? What necessary military task do they perform well? Big Mike @8:45 PM:

Read Clarence Dickinson's "The Flying Guns: Cockpit Record of a Naval Pilot from Pearl Harbor Through Midway."

Dickinson was a Dauntless pilot on the Enterprise. He shot down a Zero with his Speedy Six during the Battle of Midway.

He was also one of the pilots who planted a bomb on a Japanese carrier during the battle and later sank a Jap submarine he caught on the surface.

In the recent "Midway" movie he was portrayed by actor Luke Kleintank. The movie accurately portrays the incident, described in the book, when Dickinson and his squadron arrived over Pearl at the height of the attack. Dickenson's SBD was set aflame by a Zero; he baled out and survived, but his rear gunner was killed by the attacking Japanese aircraft.

Yes! But who benefits from free trade routes? The US is uniquely gifted in that it has large domestic sources of food, minerals, wood, and fuel. What we lack is cheap labor. It is one thing when keeping the sea lanes open means you can export finished goods to the world, another thing when keeping the sea lanes open means you can take advantage of cheap overseas labor.

We now have first hand accounts from both former Ukranian prosecutor Viktor Shokin and the man who succeeded him, Yurly Lutsenko, that they were pressured to drop the Burisma prosecution at the direction of Joe Biden. Shokin was the man Biden boasted of getting fired by threatening to withhold $1 billion in military aid. On video. Biden in the same video calls his replacement, Lusenko, a "good guy".

Compare the on camera first person testimony of Shokin and Lutsenko with that of an anonymous whistleblower and the second and third hand testimony, complete with inuendo, supposition, and policy differences pretending to be proof of wrongdoing, that we heard from Shiff's hand picked witnesses. Remember that Shokin and Lusenko held office equivalent to our Attorney General.
