Driving home from church this morning, my wife reading her tablet, busted up laughing. I asked what she found amusing. She quoted (not exact quote, from memory), "they knew their neighbor's business slightly less well than their own, but found their neighbors business much more interesting."

I read somewhere that the cells in Epstein's area of the jail have ceilings too high to allow hanging. The article mentioned other reasons why this just couldn't have happened like we're told it did. Barr was supposed to be investigating the incident. What happened there?

It takes one aback hearing seeming sense coming out of Hillary's mouth, but this “outburst” naturally has the “transgender” community in an uproar — who have concluded that Hillary is that epitome of damnable reactionary consciousness, the (gasp!) dastardly “TERF”*.

All one needs is about two feet of clearance to hang himself. He can tie one end of a sheet or shirt sleeve around a bed frame and the other around his neck. Then he simply leans forward enough to cut off the flow of blood in his neck until he passes out. It isn't necessary to choke oneself at that point. Once he's unconscious, gravity takes over and he asphyxiates.
I understand that his hyoid bone was broken so it would seem unlikely to have been self-inflicted.

Melville seemingly scoffs at conventional ideas of God. He’s an unseen, unaccountable joker, although his failure to manifest in Billy Budd does not seem very funny. God’s ways are ever mysterious, and good humor, something Melville clearly aspired to, is a worthwhile objective. But I’ve read he was pretty grumpy. I sense a lot of anger and bitterness in the humor of Moby Dick. Maybe the author is still working on his digestion, trying to get it to be more ostrich-like.
