Yes, great start! I'd rather be watching than listening on the radio but I'm still on the road. Hope to be home by Thursday to watch the Crew play the Dodgers.

C'mon Nats. Get Scherzer out of there.

Walter said...

These brewers are a plucky team. I’m sure I’m not the only Cardinals fan rooting for them to beat the Dodgers.

Big Mike said...

Trouble with the Nats is that every one of them has a dotted line tattooed on their waist that says "fold here in October."

Big Mike said...

Okay, Scherzer, that's better.

Great start. Go Brewers!

Home plate ump took one h**l of a shot on that one errant pitch. Tough dude.

Slightly on topic: there’s an older red BMW parked across the street from my older daughter’s house with a ‘Hebrew Hammer’ sticker that nearly covers the rear window. Either the owner is a huge Braun fan, or - considering he played AA ball in town - maybe he bought it from Ryan back in the day... :)

True story: when I read the headline, I knew the "Brewers" were a sports team, but I had no idea which sport. So I googled it. And then I thought, oh yeah, Bob Uecker!

Sharc 65 said...

(1) Who is the opposing team?; (2) which sport?

mccullough said...

The Nats wish they had a left-handed ace. Brewers have some good left-handed bats.

Scherzer pitched ok. He should have stayed away from Grandal and Thames. They made him pay. He’s lucky Yelich is hurt

Hoping for a network nightmare- Twins vs Brewers in the World Series.

Big Mike said...

Top of the 8th. I’m going to bed. The Nats break your heart every postseason.

Bay Area Guy said...

The Nats are going down! (Although they have great ballpark in SE DC)

mockturtle said...

Well, Farmer, I'm the same way about pop culture. No clue and zero interest. ;-)

Quayle said...

Yankees. Yankees. Yankees.

(Hope they can get by Houston).

mockturtle said...

Good grief! Relief pitchers suck.

mockturtle said...

Quayle wishes: Yankees. Yankees. Yankees.

(Hope they can get by Houston).

Go 'Stros.

mockturtle said...

Well, what a shame! :-(

Bay Area Guy said...

The Nats are NOT going down! Nice comeback.

DTR said...

Counsell is a bad manager. He got out-managed by Roberts last year against the Dodgers, and was too clever by half again tonight. No need for Hader in the 8th.

mccullough said...

Brewers’ pitching and defense was shaky this season. Did them in again late.

But very good season. And they pulled it together after Yelich got hurt.

Back to back playoffs is hard to do. Hope they are there again next year.

Wow , that one hurt. And I’m a Cubs fan.

In Wisconsin, he will forever be known as Juan Fucking Soto.

Oh, dear Brewer's fan, I feel for you. That was a rough way to exit the play offs. The Brewers had such a beautiful run at the end of the season. That is why it is called the wild card game; it is wild one game explosion.

nats fan here. great game. nats got a little lucky in the end. brewers have a great young team and will be in the mix for years to come.

“Wow , that one hurt. And I’m a Cubs fan.”

Yeah, we were huge Cubs fans last Friday. And again on Saturday. Huge.

Didn’t do us bit of good. Which, come to think of it, makes us feel even more like Cubs fans. :\

Gut punch..four games in a row. Need some time to heal. Only good thing is we saved some cash on playoff tix.

mockturtle said...

Soto didn't beat the Crew. Hader did.

Cubs fan here, but rooted for the Brewers tonight. Tough one. But what a game.

The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. (Here comes that ski jumper!)

Only one team gets to be champion, and there are a lot of good teams left in the playoffs. The Brewers had a great year, and so did the the Nationals, the Cardinals, the Dodgers, and the Braves.

Look out for those 5-game series, everyone. They are killers of dreams.

mockturtle said...

If it's any consolation, the Dodgers would have been a very tough challenge.

Amadeus 48 said...

The Cubs played themselves out of contention at season's end two years in a row. They need to rethink their pitching. They couldn't hold on to a late-inning lead all season long.

Go Brewers!

You were saying?

AtmoGuy said...

Isn't it nice to be absorbed in something other than the manufactured impeachment drama. That's why sports exist.

Mark said...

Big win for the Nats.

You would think then that the local paper would have a banner headline. NOPE. It's still all anti-Trump all the time.

traditionalguy said...

The Braves fans have long hated the Nats. Now we hope the Dodgers wear themselves out beating them. It's about time the World Series comes back to the Big A. Then we get to see the Yankees. And then the Bravos go to the White House and be honored by our player President.

Positive thinking never hurts.

Yancey Ward said...

Well, that sucked.

Indeed! Sports are the only thing I watch on TV now.

Cub fan, and the way I look at it now......everything from here on out is gravy. I'm good. On to hockey.

The Nats only won because I stopped watching.

That figures.

Dignitas (aka Clutch Gaming, aka The Texas Team) is about to start their first Worlds 2019 play-in match against Unicorns of Love - you can watch on YouTube (lolesports).

Just inspired to share my excitement by our host's post :)

Tough loss...just in time for hockey season.

Thanks goodness one of the indoor baseball teams has been eliminated from the post-season. Nothing more gloomy than an indoor World Series.

peacelovewoodstock said...

@mccullough, Nats have Patrick Corbin and he is left-handed and an ace

donald said...

Hader is their guy. I have a real problem second guessing that.

Here’s what got me. That was a foul ball! It got the edge of the bat first. It just did. I can’t believe that held up. There’s (Probably) your problem.

Love small market teams, but will always root against the Brewers while Ryan Braun plays for them. Don't care about his steroid use but the way he blamed the test results on the courier of his blood sample was evil. He may be a very good player of a game/entertainer, but like Tiger not a person I can stand.

Howard said...

Will Meade still love you now that your boys of summer are gone?

Birches said...

I went to bed last night thinking they'd come out on top. Oh well. I hope the Astros best the Dodgers. Actually, I guess I don't care when the Dodgers lose as long as they lose.

Leland said...

I was really hoping for a Brewers vs Astros matchup. I'm sure the media is happy with the NL options now of LA, DC, or ATL. Now if they can only get the AL to get rid of HOU and TB, so they'll have the possibility of OAK (SF) and best of all NY. They'd love a LA vs NY or DC vs NY match up, so the national sports media can travel and hang out with friends. For this reason, I hate post season coverage. The media is so in the bag for their own self-interests.

Blah blah blah. Any team that doesn't put a retractable roof on their stadium is run by idiots. Granted, they have to use it for it to be worthwhile but rainouts are inexcusable bullshit in this day and age. And by the way, the word you're looking for is "raucous", not gloomy.

M Jordan said...

One-game playoffs are terrible. My Pirates lost two of three and both times it was unbearable. I truly feel for Brewers fans just as I would’ve for the less-than-playoff-successful Nats fans.

But what a finish! A huge base hit with two outs and bases full. That’s excitement.

donald said...

Not to mention the error. That didn’t help huh?

Rod said...

Go Brewers, huh?
Neener, neener, neener!

Sorry about your Brewers. Go Dodgers!
