I don't know if you heard, but I'm moving to Iowa!— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) September 21, 2019
Thank you, @PolkDems, for putting on a fantastic #SteakFry and giving us the opportunity to bring our campaign directly to Iowans. We're going to win this thing by coming together and fighting for the best of who we are. pic.twitter.com/z6gu9sBe6g
ADDED: There's a new Des Moines Register poll, reported here by CNN. Warren now has 22% of the likely Iowa caucusgoers. Biden has 20%.
Sen. Bernie Sanders' support has dipped to 11% in this poll, with South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 9% and Sen. Kamala Harris at 6%. Sens. Cory Booker and Amy Klobuchar each land at 3%, while Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, investor Tom Steyer and businessman Andrew Yang each have the backing of 2% of likely caucusgoers. The poll marks Gabbard's third qualifying poll for inclusion in October's Democratic debates. The rest of the field each notched 1% or less....Harris is exactly where she was in the previous Des Moines Register poll.
For many in the field, a summer spent campaigning in Iowa has done little to improve their chances there. Aside from Warren, no candidate has made meaningful gains in overall support...

How stupid that we choose our president by who will dance along with their (hired?) supporters and grill steaks.
#PleaseClap
When it started, campaigns provided free whiskey and beer, and people voted by show of hands.
So steak is OK now? Is there a website that we can check to keep track of when it's OK to have beef, and when it's not, when natural gas is better than coal, and when it's not, etc.?
There's really nothing more to say about Kamala other than..."Hey...who's going to offer me that VP position? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?"
the Polk City Democrats "Claim" to be from Iowa
So, what do they cook? Nebraska Steaks
If (i mean IF!) they were actually Iowans, they'd be cooking Pork Chops
{and YES, I called them the Polk City Democrats... It's a Slur, get it?}
Free college, free health care, free steaks! That's how to win in Iowa.
Harris won’t even be the Veep because Warren will be the nominee. If she chooses a female running mate (who can’t even deliver her home state since CA is a lock already), it will be an admission that the cause is hopeless and they will settle for calling us sexist for the next 4 years.
Hopefully she has been warned that Iowans may not show her their famous hospitality.
Professor Hill gave it a try though and found love and an honest job, so it can actually work out there for a scam artist.
I like how in Kamela's pic, of her and her t-shirt wearing followers;
there is ONE Black guy, and ONE Black lady
And EVERY OTHER PERSON BEHIND HER is a White Woman
Fauxahontas it is. So, Althouse, what say you? Will you reject the mad left mad leftist or support the pro-abortion female law prof?
(we want to fight for Iowa by getting rid of the Electoral College)
SteakFry? Won't that enrage the vegans, not to mention the CAGW fanatics? Should have gone with hummus, Kamala.
tim maguire raises a serious question, when he said...
Harris won’t even be the Veep because Warren will be the nominee. If she chooses a female running mate
Assuming, for the sake of argument, that Fauxcahontus IS the nominee...
Who WILL be her VP? I'm guessing Cory Booker?
Iowa is definitely a pork state. Nebraska is the Beef State.
Warren is such a transparent fraud and intolerable scold, I don't think even today's brainless Democrats could bring themselves to vote her into the Presidency. Then again, they did fall for Collusion, Kavanaugh, etc., so they might fall for her routine, too.
It’s interesting to look at the crowd rather than the person, along with the setting. Who is this supposed to appeal to?
I have a hard time getting over the fact that she was a (successful?) prosecutor, which, for me is the antithesis of ‘for the little people’.
Wait, California just banned travel to Iowa.

Getting criminals off the street is good "for the little people." The "big" people don't usually live in that part of town.
"Fauxahontas it is. So, Althouse, what say you? Will you reject the mad left mad leftist or support the pro-abortion female law prof?"
I don't support anyone. I have taken a position of cruel neutrality.
You're too cruel for school.
Ugh she chose yellow and purple. The two ugliest colors, together.
And red on purple... it pains my eyes.
Her white husband Doug is a partner at the corporate law firm DLA Piper in Century City. "For the People" my ass.
"And EVERY OTHER PERSON BEHIND HER is a White Woman"
Are you sure? That's not what I see.
I met Kamala’s white husband. Lucky guy.
When Kamala Harris wrote whoweare, I naturally read it as whore.
I love how they had a giant cookout and cooked a bunch of MEAT!! Climate Change deniers!!!
"'And EVERY OTHER PERSON BEHIND HER is a White Woman"' / Are you sure? That's not what I see."
Damn close. I see one AA guy and two white dudes, way back.
Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, does something similar. In photos where Ed appears with groups of Members of the Delta Family (tm), there is rarely a white man within arm's reach of him.
I speculate that any WM that close to him may be a representative of the LGBTQ community.
I was at this thing yesterday with my wife who's a dem. It was a fun event, if you don't take things too seriously. I got speak with Tulsi for a bit. All of the candidates are batty to one degree or another, but few of them are dumb. The "I'm moving to Iowa" type statements are given and taken with a wink. Nobody should get too wound up about them.
The most disturbing thing about the day, was that in their speeches several candidates used the Charlottesville statements ("I'm sure there are good people on both sides") as proof of DJT's racism. This is demonstrably wrong, vile and unhelpful to anyone.
Sen. Harris' posters were absolutely weird though. I wish I'd picked up an example, but they were a close-up of her smiling face done in purple and green. It had the affect of presenting her as the Wicked Witch of the West. Not a political statement, but a graphic one. They were really bad.
Andrew Yang really caught the crowd's attention. Not saying he'll go anywhere, but he made people listen and think.
Okay, I see in the picture that it was not green but kind of an acid yellow. My WWotW observation stands though.
If Sen. Harris moves to Iowa, does that mean that Iowa will have 3 senators? Does not seem fair.
Will they ever offer a poll with "none of the above" as an option? I'd love to see that one.
Seriously. Going back to business as usual with an economy weighed down by more insane regulations and renewed support for the mullahs against Israel and more backroom deals benefiting Democratic Party donors doesn't sound like an optimist future for the rest of us.
The leftie contradiction of eating cow has been pointed out but that's not the worst offense. Steak fry is. I mean, it might be okay to use a salamander or cast iron to sear but that doesn't look like what this is....
I could have swore it was just last week we were being told eating red meat was bad.
How the hell did Steyer garner 2 percent? Did he offer to pay off the mortgage of everyone who backs him?
...even using a salamander is more of a broil than a fry...
Does anyone know who the Mayor of Des Moines is? Asking for a political friend....
More than one kind of free meat. Just saying.
Obama had the support of 37 percent of Iowa's Democratic delegates in the 2008 Democratic caucus. Hillary and John Edwards each had about 30 percent.
Kamala is toast.
Kammy and Booger's Smollett collusion may creep out from "under the pillow"
and 'sync' them both

It's still Frank Cownie
He's a Democrat, as is the entire Polk County

Steyer's tv commercials run, At Least Once, per Every tv break. He makes it clear, that If Nominated:
He will;
A) Assume Power without an election
B) suspend the Constitution
C) Arrest ALL Republicans
D) Power the Country on Unicorn Farts
People like my (bleeding Heart Liberal) Mom think he's "Just What we Need to fix Washington"
I'm surprised he isn't polling much higher (all democrats are stupid... Iowa democrats particularly so)
The racism of Democratics in Iowa is astounding.
SteakFry? Won't that enrage the vegans, not to mention the CAGW fanatics? Should have gone with hummus, Kamala.
Well, I for one, am appalled. Outraged! Who FRIES a steak! If you aren't going to BBQ like a civilized person.... You might sear it in a cast iron pan or steel flat plate grill and then gently cook to the desired degree of done-ness (medium rare at most). Perhaps baste frequently with some garlic butter.
But FRY!!! NEVER!!!! Almost as horrifying as well done steak with catsup. HURK!!
Heathens.
Bernie didn’t have the guts to after Hillary. He has the same strategy against Warren.
Bernie thinks calling Trump a racist and white supremacist is effective. Good to see his support is dropping. Even Socialists abhor a Loser
Thought bubble over Harris's head: "After the caucus I'll never have to see these flyover losers again!"
Right about now the Democrats could choose Ted Cruz as their candidate- and I'd still vote for Trump. Trump is now a proven quantity. (Not sure if quantity is the right word....) I can see what he's accomplished- and tried to accomplish- and I like both. Four more years of judges picked by the Federalist society seem like a good thing for the betterment of America.
Charlie said, "I could have swore it was just last week we were being told eating red meat was bad."
Not to worry! For the California primary campaign, for what it's worth to anyone who gets that far, the StirFry will be rice, tofu, and kale in soy sauce, cooked on a solar-powered wok.
At the Iowa event, I'm sure the steaks were marinated in ethanol.
Kamala Harris in Iowa...now there's someone convinced of her invincibility.
I picked Kamala way back when. Gonna stick with her. She'll get Joe's support when he drops out to 'spend more time with his family'.
How stupid that we choose our president by who will dance along with their (hired?) supporters and grill steaks.
This. I can't look at any of this tomfoolery without picturing everyone involved wearing a giant clown nose.
Yes, the big question is, Who gets Joe’s voters when he drops out? And he will. It won’t necessarily be Kamala, but it’s not likely to be Warren or Sanders.
When my private jet touched down I told my SUV driver to speed here so I could get to that juicy red meat as soon as possible.
Now a word about how global climate change will destroy the world [giggles inappropriately].
Bernie will never be forgiven for daring to challenge herr pantsuit.
I see Booker is just about out of the race, too. I think Harris makes it to South Carolina, but after that she will withdraw. Right now, I think Iowa will have Biden, Warren, Sanders, Harris, Buttuvwxyz, and Klobuchar. After New Hamphire it will be Biden, Warren, Sanders, and Harris, and after South Carolina, Biden, Warren, and Sanders.
And the new Iowa poll tells me that I was right- Warren is the true frontrunner.
The Godfather,
If Biden withdrew months before Iowa, I think Warren would likely pick up most of the support that actually shows up to vote, with maybe Harris or Klobuchar getting the rest. I am just wondering whether, before Iowa, Obama gives an endorsement to someone.
I love painfully calculated political imagery like the photo accompanying Althouse’s post. It’s become so trite and predictable that it’s more a form of self-satire than self-promotion.
The video embedded in KH's tweet is ludicrous and can't conceal the fact that her head is full of mush and she is running a boring, dead campaign. Oh well, I guess its her turn.
Warrren has always been leading in Iowa. Check the polls at 538.
It seems like yesterday left commenters were citing Biden's lead as proof Dems in general are moderate rather than sheep waiting to vote for the candidate approved by the radical left.
Someday I'd like to be wrong about Dems.
Warrren has always been leading in Iowa. Check the polls at 538.
She will get 110% of the Iowa City vote and do pretty well among union voters in Davenport and Des Moines.
Iowa may be a purple state, but the life-long Dems there are really dedicated. They sincerely believe that all Republicans are stupid, greedy, and evil racists.
DBQ said... Who FRIES a steak! If you aren't going to BBQ like a civilized person....
In fairness to Tom Harkin and the rest of the Polk City Democrats; a steak fry is (almost?) Always on charcoal grills. I have No Idea WHY they don't call it a cook out (or such), but they were using the phrase Steak Fry before i got to central iowa (1980).
But, That's what they call it, even though they're grilling not frying
ps. The last two steaks I cooked (Last weekend, Prune Creek Campground, Bighorn Mountains); i cooked in a cast iron skillet, in bacon grease. . . They were yummy (so was the trout that i cooked the same way (different grease).
Corey Booker is thinking he should have come out as bi. He would have made a great VP choice for Warren: black, LGBT, emotional Well, I guess there is still time. /sarc
I agree with J Severs. It's not fair that Iowa gets 3 resident senators and California is left with only one. Shouldn't there be a special election in California to replace Senator Harris? For Iowa, they may have 3 senators but are still stuck with only 2 votes per state.
...a steak fry is (almost?) Always on charcoal grills. I have No Idea WHY they don't call it a cook out...
Oh THANK GOD!! Faith in humanity restored...
None of the dem candidates are serious people with serious, or noteworthy, ideas. They are all empty suits pushing stale 100 year old ideas, just using new 'issues' to push them. Its embarrassing to watch.
The nation would be best served if they all died. I don't care how.
Too bad my prediction has worked out.
I stated many times that Harris will not win the nomination and she wouldn't play well in the Midwest.
I was hoping somehow that the identity crowd in the Dem caucus would nominate her so that she could lose every state but possibly California, NY and Illinois to Trump.
Warren will lose to Trump too. it'll just be closer than Harris vs. Trump.
Warren is just Hilary 2.0 with less stumbling, but also even less appeal to black voters. If Trump gets 20% of the black vote and a decent percent stay home like last election, he wins in a landslide (i.e. there's no way Warren wins MI, PA, WI). He already has 20+% approval...and that's before Warren campaigns for real. The more she campaigns, the higher the negatives will go, just like Hilary. For reference, she's still not polling first among democrats in the state where everyone knows her, Massachusetts.
"I don't support anyone. I have taken a position of cruel neutrality."
Yeah, yeah. We've heard that before. So, between the coup plotters and mad leftists on one side and Trump on the other, Althouse is "neutral." In view of her stated criteria, Warren is just as serious as Trump, just as good at "expressing American values. Got it.
As this confirms, nothing progs have done thus far has--not the coup, not the Russia hoax, not the Kavanaugh hoax, not antifa, not Medicare for All, not forgiveness of student loans, not Fauxahontas' Indian cheating, not the lies about Michael Brown, not the deplorables-are-racist drumbeat--has caused the nice Althouses of America to draw the line. Cuz they are "neutral," you see. "Cruelly," meaning self-satisfiedly, neutral.
Anyway, looking forward to the rationalizations come decision time.
Very Presidential!
Kamala Harris has a sound political strategy for winnng Iowa - find the most important politician in Des Moines to (blank) his (blank).
I was hoping somehow that the identity crowd in the Dem caucus would nominate her so that she could lose every state but possibly California, NY and Illinois to Trump.
This is why Trump is going for the popular vote. He is campaigning in New Mexico and CA.
If he should get a popular vote majority next year, California, which has an NPV law, will have to vote for Trump in the EC.
It would be worth a lot to watch them when that happens.
If he should get a popular vote majority next year, California, which has an NPV law, will have to vote for Trump in the EC.
I'm pretty sure their law (like all the others) says it doesn't come into effect until enough states pass similar laws so that they total greater than 270 votes.
Of Course; IF and WHEN these laws went into effect, upon a republican winning the popular vote...
They just need to
A) have the governor call a special session
B) vote to repeal the law
C) tell their electors that it would "Be in the best interests of their health" of they followed the New law
a steak fry is (almost?) Always on charcoal grills
Alton Brown had an episode where he put the steak directly on the coals.
I wonder what a deep-fried steak would be like. Deep-fried turkey is better than roasted.
Nobody who claims that Michael Brown was murdered, or even laments his death, gets my vote.
Never had chicken fried steak?
Warren looks too brittle and error prone for the big leagues. I still remember how foolish she looked when she so proudly broadcast her 23andme DNA results to show she was 1/1204th indian. Was she just too stupid to understand that was not very much? Does she understand percentages? Or is she surrounded by sycophants who were too timid to tell her it was a bad idea to broadcast the results?
Binks is right. There are things I dislike about Warren but there are some things I do like. The fauxcahontas thing bugs me, as does Kavanaugh, but what makes her completely unacceptable is the Michael Brown lie.
but what makes her completely unacceptable is the Michael Brown lie.
What makes Warren unacceptable is her desire to subordinate business to her apparatchik whims ruining America's greatest asset and the primary source of stability in the world. Michael Brown is a distraction.
Harris seems to be smiling and laughing all the time. Is this natural? Could she be looking for a seat on The View?
I love this season of the political hunt - the stupid pet tricks for column inches.
