I don't know who started this breaking of sentences into its constituent pieces for dramatic effect, but I. Don't. Like. It.
Broxton catch was better.
Broxton's leap may have been more spectacular, but Hamilton's focus and amazing footwork leading up to the catch demonstrated more athletic skill.
He kept his eye on the ball and yet knew to time his leap, and it was an awkward position to be in to catch the ball. I agree with EDH: that took tremendous athletic skill.

Catch of the year? Don't follow baseball, but isn't the "year" only half (+/-) over?
The half glance to see where the wall is AND the skill (it has to be practiced) to jump at the wall and kick up high enough to catch the ball while not taking your eye off the ball (because the last split second the ball is rapidly moving in your field of vision) is incredible.
Baseball is so much about vision (i.e. reading the spin of a pitch as it leaves the pitcher’s grip).
Looks like EDH, Bill Peschel and I all had the same thoughts.

We were at a Reds game the other night behind home plate. He has a "score from first on a steal and an error" and he threw a guy or at home. The kid is an amazing baseball player when he gets on base.

Big friggin deal. An athlete jumps 2 feet up a padded wall and catches a ball with a glove. I just don't get what is so impressive. Couldn't just about any ball player do that. The only thing that makes it special is just that he had the opportunity to do it when it counted on TV, but it is not an amazing feat of athleticism.
I'm with bagoh20. Not that hard.
Did he judge it correctly from the get go, or did the ball catch a tailwind while aloft? He made a great recovery, however it happened. The recovery added to the drama of the catch.
