Trump also used the word "suspending" which is contextual. Intermittent events, such as annual exercises, can be suspended during the event or in between them. It is a rough synonym for "cease" in one example but not the other. Trump uses the language well in his own way.
"I may be wrong, I mean I may stand before you in six months and say, 'Hey I was wrong,' [about Kim Jong-un], I don't know that I'll ever admit that, but I'll find some kind of an excuse."
When people tell you who they are believe them. When people tell you that they don't accept personal responsibility believe them.
It will be important for sakredkow's self-worth to find at least 1 talking point that he/she can stick with and feel like he/she/xe has "won" "Teh Interwebs".
Flailing. In all cases, past present and future it means to stop something IN PROGRESS. Again something that is not underway cannot be ceased. Try again, but I warn you, I have a BA in English and years of editing experience. This is what I do. I don't accept on-the-fly wholesale changes to my native tongue. Words are important to me. You're just trying to justify a mistake now. Own up. Move on.
" You've recently been in South Korea. Look around as you sight-see here in Singapore. Then ask yourself what Pyongyang and the North have that any country would want to attack and invade you for."
I think it’s far more important to the Propagandizer to have self worth in front of others than Sacredkow, who doesn’t seem to care at all what you think, lol.
Blogger Mike said... I especially love the sudden progressive concern for "readiness" after eight freaking years of Obama starving the Defense budget, forcing transgender training on sailors who aren't seaworthy and letting our aging fleet deteriorate.
Courtesy of the same party that is not building infrastructure in California. No reservoirs to catch winter snow. $65 billion on a train to nowhere. And that's only so far. Population doubles in 25 years and no new infrastructure.
This is the party of "You didn't build that."
So, of course, they build nothing.
The relief of the staff in the MEPS when the trannie thing was cancelled was palpable.
sakredkow: "You can always, always tell when Drago's at a loss for an argument that he obviously thinks is snarky when he adds "LOL" at the end. No argument, just snark and "LOL". Cute for sure. But it's not an argument."
I can't blame you for trying to shift away from your Exercise/Calendar failure.
This dramatic summit could be used as a teachable moment for the Left --if they cared to learn history.
1950 - 1952: Korean War. Over a million Koreans dead. 35,000 courageous American boys 5 years post WWII fought to save South Korea from going Communist.
1952 - today: 2 countries north and south; peace enforced by US troops. One country - North Korea -- a violent, oppressive, backwards-ass, slave state, shithole. The other -- a burgeoning democracy with a few flaws.
Compare and contrast the 2 countries over the past 70 years. That's why we were fighting the Russians during the Cold War. They prevailed in China (1948), and wanted Asia and the rest of thew world to look like North Korea.
Drago what failure? This is just you refusing responsibility. If not, what was the failure? Trump cancelled military exercises with South Korea in return for nobody knows.
The argument, as I understand it, is that Trump gave away something valuable that can be restarted at any minute. Also, that Kim gave away nothing of value while getting his photo op.
Kim is returning remains of U.S. soldiers which is more than nothing.
The action is on China. The trade negotiations with China are what really matter.
“Drago what failure? This is just you refusing responsibility. If not, what was the failure? Trump cancelled military exercises with South Korea in return for nobody knows.”
True. Drago tries to distract others from the fact that you made a valid point by repeatedly bringing up the word “cease and calendars”, lol. So transparent, Propagandizer.
readering said... Perhaps Navarro had it right. Trudeau undermined Trump's negotiating strength.
*********************************
I can easily imagine a summit between Trudeau and Trump turning out like the scene in "Braveheart", where Longshanks contemptuously hurls the pansy friend of his pansy son out the window to splat in the courtyard below.
North Korea is an irrelevant country, other than for its location, which always set it up as a focus of great power conflict.
Its labor force is a drop in the ocean of what China and SE Asia already have. If it were to become relevant in the global economy the whole country would represent just a years growth in the labor force of all East Asia. And the NK certainly won't come online very quickly.
The same lefties who laughed about the summit being impossible to hold, then impossible to hold on June 12, are now saying that exercises scheduled for 9 months from now cannot be turned back on with a single word.
Trump said Kim assured him that North Korea would destroy a "major missile testing site" but it wasn't included in the agreement. He said there wasn't enough time to include it.
What do I want? Really? Why do you want so little?
These are the same lefties who told us Trump would not run for President, not make it to the primaries, not win the republican primary, not actually complete the general election campaign, had no path to 270, even though elected would never make it to the inauguration, would not last 1/3/6/9/12 months into his Presidency, and on and on it goes.
And at each step you are not supposed to remember all the previous failed predictions.
It just keeps getting better and better.
Trump is already at the same or higher poll numbers than Reagan and obama at this point in their Presidencies.
Well, then I guess he doesn't need food, technology, energy
Nope, Kim Jong-un and his elite advisors have done quite well for themselves all through the sanctions. Plus he now has photos and a boatload of concessions from this shitshow to bring home to his people. "See? I was right!"
You missed it. Trump says he's been talking to Kim for 90 days.
"I can only tell you that from the time I’ve dealt with him, which is really starting like 90 days ago it’s been very strong. I think he wants to get it done."
Speaking of what leftists think, one of the amusing schadenfreudian aspects of this Trump-Kim Jong-un agreement is speculating how many far-leftists — and I don't mean Robert Cook here (nor Inga — ha!) — are taking the news.
Hard-leftist activists — in the apparently peace-supporting guise of organizations such ANSWER (“Act Now to Stop War and End Racism” — which is actually a creature of the far-left World Workers Party — that is, real communists) — have had influence far beyond their (limited) numbers because these groups for many years have controlled organizing and running (supposedly!) “anti-war” demonstrations all across America.
Such far leftists, far from being really anti-war, typically love, love, love Kim Jong-un and his prison nation of North Korea (or they have in the past!) — nor have they ever seen anything to criticize about Kim's communist nation or his attempted revival (hitherto anyway) of “great game” nuclear-war “brinksmanship.”
ANSWER actually sent a covey of their partridges — er… partisans — for a “consciousness raising” holiday in Potemkin villages in that fat, well-fed, peace-loving socialist wonderland of North Korea just three years ago!
Look at the glorious itinerary for their trip….
“The itinerary for this trip is dazzling in its scope. We will visit different cities, both large and small, centers of learning and historic cultural sites; travel to the Panmujon and the DMZ, which still separates the Korean Peninsula into north and south; participate in and witness Pyongyang's celebrated mass performances as the country officially marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea; visit the historic city of Kaesong, an UNESCO World Heritage Site that was the capital of the Koryo Dynasty and is today known both for its stunning mountains and landscape, and as a commercial and political point of contact between north and south Korea; and experience the gorgeous scenery of Mt. Myohyang, an important cultural and historic site due to it being the birthplace of King Tangun, who founded the first Korean kingdom of Gojoseon in 2333 B.C.”
How could a good starry-eyed leftist not want to “participate in” Pyongyang's “celebrated mass performances”?
But that was then.
The link at AnswerCoalition.org for that trip is still good! Any bets as to how long till they take it down?
Birkel: "It is something incredible, to observe the Leftist Collectivists deny what can be seen."
Vaclev Havel described the sakredkow/Inga/readerings of the world long ago in his work "The Power of the Powerless", wherein the leftist leaders create conditions where one is required to live the lie and not the truth, regardless of how obvious the truth is.
In fact, the more obviously something is true simply makes it that much more important to the leftist state to corrupt you to believe the lie.
"An individual living within such a system must live a lie, to hide that which he truly believes and desires, and to do that which he must do to be left in peace and to survive.
"...they must live within a lie. They need not accept the lie. It is enough for them to have accepted their life with it and in it. For by this very fact, individuals confirm the system, fulfill the system, make the system, are the system."
Trump keeps you in the dark while he glorifies himself. You think supporting a man with this kind of character is the best you can do, and you believe it will end well for you.
Yep, indeed. Trump ended the war games saving Americans and Koreans several billion dollars, and successfully arranged a historic meeting of minds to end the Korean war and reunite Korean brothers and sisters. A conservation of principles, wealth, and life.
Michael McNeil: "The link at AnswerCoalition.org for that trip is still good! Any bets as to how long till they take it down?"
It's an interesting conundrum for the far far left (see "The Nation")
The far far lefties, as you rightly point out, have been arguing against an aggressive stance against Russia and NK for decades.
Here's how they are handling this:
"You Can Be a Critic of Trump and Still Root for Diplomacy to Succeed in Korea" "Congressman Ro Khanna says Democrats should be encouraging statecraft that promotes cooperation and peace."
Interesting point re International Answer (they are a faction of the commies, not all of them). They actually have a position on this event. They are for it.
sakredkow: "Trump keeps you in the dark while he glorifies himself."
Here again, sakredkow swallows whole the other lefty talking points when the Trump admin has stated clearly that as Pompeo completes the detailed discussions the entire agreement will be made public.
sakredkow wants you to forget that obama's Iran give-away was conducted in absolute secrecy, never submitted to our own congress, that many clauses and provisions were kept secret even from the members of our most sensitive committees on capital hill, never submitted to our congress for approval, AND we are finding out now that obama admin sought to break our financial laws to help the Iranians get even more cash to fund terrorists.
Living the Lie, in realtime. Right in front of us.
Vaclev Havel described the sakredkow/Inga/readerings of the world long ago in his work "The Power of the Powerless"
As long as you're foolishly namedropping, I'm going to paraphrase something that Jack London once said. "Vaclev Havel's name on your lips is like a dewdrop in a cesspool."
Havel, Czeslaw Milosz, Andrei Sakharov, even Alexander Solzhenitsyn; you have no clue as to the depth of these giants. You have nothing in common with them. You should be ashamed to use any one of them for your silly comments.
Havel, Czeslaw Milosz, Andrei Sakharov, even Alexander Solzhenitsyn; you have no clue as to the depth of these giants. You have nothing in common with them.
We know and we intend to keep it that way. 250 years in you face.
In my opinion, there is actually little danger to the North Korean government and its leader if Kim does completely denuclearize- even up to the point to hand delivering the nukes he has in hand. Convincing him of this truth is the hard part of making a good agreement, and it takes time to do this if it is possible at all. There are both carrots and sticks that we can offer the North Koreans to make this possible, and probably more carrots than sticks.
“How could a good starry-eyed leftist not want to “participate in” Pyongyang's “celebrated mass performances”?”
That sort of staged mass hysteria isn’t attractive to ANY western person, leftist or not. Nor is Communism, whether it be a Capitalist (China) Communist nation or not. What gets me is that so many conservatives have an unrealistic, outlandish idea of what an average American leftie is. I hear so many exaggerations, lies, fantasies about what liberals, Democrats and progressives are all about. There are commenters here who have a hard time believing Americans on the left are married, have children, work, are patriotic, are not all raving feminists, serve in the military. You have Propagandists like Drago who goes on for hours everyday otherizing people on the left, as if things weren’t divisive enough already.
The volume of made up and silly lefty complaints (with the caveat that many on the far left are speaking and behaving consistently re: NK and Russia relations with the Trump admin) is in direct correlation to the lefties fear that this and other actions by Trump on the foreign policy front will be as successful as Trump's economic policies thus far.
That's what this nonsense is all about.
The good news is the vast majority of Americans, even those nominally inclined to side with the left, are tuning much of this fake criticism out.
Such are the fruits of crying wolf 1,000,000 times too many....
I specifically excluded you from hard leftists like the World Workers Party, Inga. But if you think that they're not attracted to such a collectivist exhibition and vision, why else do you suppose ANSWER so glowingly describes that specific event as well as hosting a trip to North Korea in the first place?
Should I link to the times when Trump had his cabinet around him and they all had to go around the table saying how much they were grateful to have him, even thanking god for the blessing of having Trump?
"In short, no one really wants the Koreas to reunify."
"At the most basic level, South Koreans want reunification to take place. According to Gallup Korea, since 2001 over 70 percent of South Koreans have said that Korea should be reunified. In 2018, that number was 78 percent."
Not at the expense of having to clean up three generations of Kim rule of the North. If they remained separate countries with easy access to one another (like France and Germany - two countries with a decidedly non-peaceful past), I think most South Koreans would be cool with that.
Should I link to the times when Trump had his cabinet around him and they all had to go around the table saying how much they were grateful to have him, even thanking god for the blessing of having Trump?
Yes link it, because I don't believe that there are multiple occurrences of this. Maybe not even one as described.
Of the liberals I know and I know many, many liberals, not one resembles the description of “leftists” I hear on these threads on a daily basis. There is so much misunderstanding, some purposefully, some accidentally. The liberals I know are married, moms, dad’s, grandma’s, grandpa’s, hard workers, decent, wonderful people. You folks don’t like being called deplorable, but we on the left have been likened to Stalin, Kim, any Communist in history for years and years. The demonization of those on the left started long before the left pushed back. I, for a long time hesitated to speak of my family (I did many years ago and was doxxed here, so was my daughter whose real name was used), then recently I thought, why not? Maybe the folks here should realize that we on the left are not so very different than themselves. I’ve had idiots like Birkel and others claiming I lied about my own family, that I don’t really have children, that my daughter doesn’t serve in the Navy, that I was never married, that I never worked, that I was scamming disability, etc. etc. etc. It’s as if a real live lefty just cannot be a regular American! They must be lying!
Stop with the otherizing of the left, we are your countrymen and women, we serve in the military, we are patriots, we are workers, we are decent human beings. Stop letting propagandists like Drago drag you down into thinking your fellow Americans are your enemies. I used to think Drago wasn’t as extreme as Achilles, I’m changing my mind
The average Democrat or leftist wants government to make the world a better place. They think that is something that is possible. But government can only create conditions that are more or less likely to produce better results. So these people are wishful for an impossibility.
The Leftist Collectivists desire only power over their fellow humans. They enlist the first group in pursuit of their own ends.
Inga: "Of the liberals I know and I know many, many liberals, not one resembles the description of “leftists” I hear on these threads on a daily basis."
Of the conservatives I know and I know many, many conservatives, not one resembles the description of “conservative" I hear on these threads on a daily basis.
The average Democrat or leftist wants government to make the world a better place. They think that is something that is possible. But government can only create conditions that are more or less likely to produce better results. So these people are wishful for an impossibility.
I'm sure I've stated this before, but Leftists see people as mice in a maze, to be manipulated 'for their own good'. They truly believe that only they have the answers and if people would only listen and obey....
ay Elink said... I can easily imagine Trump saying to Kim:
" You've recently been in South Korea. Look around as you sight-see here in Singapore. Then ask yourself what Pyongyang and the North have that any country would want to attack and invade you for."
Being Emperor of The Trump World Order is a very hard job. But watching the Bush Family World Order collapse every where must be cause for a Trump celebration at the next American Holy-Day upcoming, which is July 4th when the whole thing took a written form 242 years ago with a go to hell to George III .
The Queen of England and her Canadian servants still hate our day. They have try hard to replace it with a Canada Day on July 1. That celebrates the British Army pulling out and leaving the Canadians in a self governing confederation two years after the U S Grant's victory kept the prey of the British Army, the United States, united.
Since 1867 the Canadians have elected a popular government. And the sole issue in Canadian electoral politics has been who hates the USA the most.
6/12/18, 1:04 PM Yeah, post the one from San Jose ca, where Trump supporters were attacked. Where police routed supporters through viscous Hillary fans. Or, Burlingame ca , where same thing happened.
“Says the gal who called all Trump voters racist nazi traitors.”
Says the Propagandist who says lefties love radical Islamic terrorists and MS13 gangs. He lies, he mischaracteizes, he exaggerates. He is a propagandist.
The Havel comparison is quite a good one, as the US situation is indeed approaching the problems Havel had.
Initially, post 1968, he was just banned from working in his industry, the theater. He worked in odd jobs, the best one possibly was at a brewery.
Czechoslovakia had a fairly "soft" form of communist despotism. He was not imprisoned until he actually came out openly as a government opponent.
This exclusion from careers is becoming SOP in several US industries at any level, and in upper-middle management across most public companies. If you are known as a "dissident" versus the hegemony you are blackballed.
“And Inga loves him though he is precisely everything she claims to dislike, because lefty.”
I love some of you folks too. Mockturtle, Freeman Hunt, Traditional Guy and others. I recognize the decency, the humanity, that what I love. I also recognize that people lose their tempers and fight back and then all hell breaks loose.
Havels work is entirely relevant to the state of US culture within the coastal bubbles at least, and various industries/subcultures across the country.
"The Power of the Powerless" is instructive. Havel describes the constraints and structures of control, both official and unofficial, within a totalitarian system in a "soft" stage. That system, in his time, was loosening.
In the US this is a not dissimilar situation, or one approaching it, where the system is tightening.
In Havel's case there is little left of free speech in public, and all counter-hegemonic speech was samizdat. In the US it is approaching this situation, and indeed most counter-hegemonic speech is also samizdat. One has to wonder what the situation would be had HRC won.
And to be clear, I came of age in a "soft" dictatorship. I know press controls, managed mass media, samizdat, and all that.
What our dictatorship never really managed was employment sanctions, other than a few cases. In that it was a more "liberal" regime, albeit a dictatorship, than what prevails, unofficially, in many areas of US culture.
Sure, losing your temper when discussing things at a distance with people unknown is the proper response. Keeping ones cool in such a situation proves a defect.
Perhaps I should be sent to a gulag pending further examination, Nurse Ratched?
We disagree, Dr. K. Democrats and Leftists are the foot soldiers of the Leftist Collectivists. That doesn't make them intolerable or foolish. It makes them tragic when they cannot see how terribly Leftist Collectivists ideas are when applied to actual people.
Some, but not terribly many, Democrats are imminently reachable. Trump reached some and is reaching more every passing day. Reagan reached quite a few in 1980 and even more in 1984.
The lust for power within the Leftist Collectivists - the ones who wish to rule their peers - cannot be reached. They must be kept away from power. That is why the tripartite system we have with its innumerable checks and balances is so vitally important. It is only the systems that are important and that is what made Obama's Administration so horrible for the nation. (e.g. IRS, FBI, DOJ, CIA, State, ETC.)
Inga: "I love some of you folks too. Mockturtle, Freeman Hunt, Traditional Guy and others. I recognize the decency, the humanity, that what I love. I also recognize that people lose their tempers and fight back and then all hell breaks loose."
As I thought. No specific criticism of one of the worst offenders here, because lefty.
Some, but not terribly many, Democrats are imminently reachable. Trump reached some and is reaching more every passing day.
Yes, I grant that. But most, even my kids who are leftists, are not reconciled to the election result. The big difference is that some are opening their eyes and seeing reality, unlike the leftists here.
Once they see reality, they are no longer the dedicated leftists who still rule the Democrat Party.
We see the fools right here who are oblivious to reality. I don't really object to their foolishness as long as they are not violent or threaten violence. Some are annoying by posting interminable foolish comments denying reality but we can scroll past them.
The problem is that we need some sort of reality check to solve the impending catastrophic problems headed our way.
The left is pulling the wrong way. If it was only disagreement, but they are fighting the solution.
Granted, Dr. K, there are far too many beyond reality. BUT!
If we do things to force them into reality, we can be quite transgressive. For example, I use XX and XY when discussing transgender things. So when an article says "pregnant male model" I would say to a leftist friend "You mean the person with XX chromosomes who is pregnant and works as a model?"
The Leftist Collectivist attempt to control language can be fought. And decent Democrats will see the value in truth. (See, e.g. Jordan Peterson)
Inga, sacredkow, koskids, etc, are interesting in how much cognitive dissonance they can endure to deny the facts (and they do represent a significant portion of the population), but the anti-Trump media are the real conundrum. As far as I can tell they have dug a hole so deep they are unable to climb out.
Current meme the MSM is pushing:
1 The Trump gave away the farm (putting military exercises on hold, photo ops, etc) are hardly worth addressing.
2 The NORKS have a different idea of what denuclearzation means. I'd bet the family jewels that Pompeo informed them EXACTLY what it means.
3 Kim’s human rights abuses. As if Trump is supposed to forgo the deal because of this. That'll put on the table. Mmmm, American principles are both nutritious and delicious. The best chance the common North Korean has is for this deal to succeed.
4 We have elevated the 'status' of a terrible dictator. Whatever the hell that means. Option 2 would be what - nuclear war? Posthumous status only in that.
5 China gets all the credit for this. I've even seen Russia mentioned as responsible. Sheesh! MSM will run up whatever trial balloons they can find to use against Trump.
The resistance is flailing and the hole just keeps getting deeper. Despite buwaya's explanations I still don't get why they are doing this.
Michael K: "The problem is that we need some sort of reality check to solve the impending catastrophic problems headed our way."
There is no reality check.
Human nature is far too stubborn.
No, only really terrible outcomes that allow for "bounce-back" reactions (think Hillary Care/Obamacare, gun grabbing, etc) are "recoverable" to some extent.
However, we already see with immigration that even many republican leaders are all in on open borders and that one could literally end the republic in a generation.
Nope. Humans don't react generally until rock bottom is hit.
Note: I cannot qualify the impact of Black Swan events like Trump
“We are encouraged by your efforts to pursue direct diplomacy with North Korea with the dual goals of resolving the nearly seven-decade-long conflict and achieving the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula," 15 House members wrote in a letter to Trump on Monday. "Diplomacy is the only path to resolve the tensions between our countries."
These members are willing to put what's best for the country, and in this case the world, ahead of the day-to-day politics of it," said Eddie Vale, a veteran of Democratic and progressive political and legislative campaigns. "But just because someone is giving Trump a chance on diplomacy doesn't mean they won't criticize him if he fails on one of the myriad other issues like immigration, health care, or taxes that he's hurting their constituents on and that's what the elections will be decided on."
The letter was signed by the two co-chairs of the House's Progressive Caucus — Reps. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., and Mark Pocan, D-Wisc., — and include members from California, Washington, Hawaii and Guam.”
“Inga, sacredkow, koskids, etc, are interesting in how much cognitive dissonance they can endure to deny the facts (and they do represent a significant portion of the population), but the anti-Trump media are the real conundrum. As far as I can tell they have dug a hole so deep they are unable to climb out.”
Perhaps you missed it, but upthread I said I give Trump credit for pulling off the summit.
Inga, that very fact (far left supporting Trump efforts) was mentioned multiple times far upthread and called out as an understandable exception to the rule of the standard left/lib reaction.
It's like you cannot absorb any inputs other than from approved sources.
I actually provided a link to the far left The Nation magazine demonstrating that.
Trump sees America as a nation being milked by allies who free ride on our defense effort, as they engage in trade practices that prosper their own peoples at America’s expense.
Where our elites live to play masters of the universe, Trump sees a world laughing behind America’s back, while allies exploit our magnanimity and idealism for their own national ends.
The numbers are impossible to refute and hard to explain.
Last year, the EU had a $151 billion trade surplus with the U.S. China ran a $376 billion trade surplus with the U.S., the largest in history. The world sold us $796 billion more in goods than we sold to the world.
A nation that spends more than it takes in from taxes, and consumes more of the world’s goods than it produces itself for export, year in and year out, is a nation on the way down.
Solving Korea is a step toward sanity in foreign policy. Getting out of Afghanistan is another. That may be next year.
The next time those two Democrats don't support Trump on an obvious pro-U.S. policy it will make for a nice reminder that it is normally all about politics. Or when other Democrats rail against this chain of events, it will call into question their motivations.
“It's like you cannot absorb any inputs other than from approved sources.
I actually provided a link to the far left The Nation magazine demonstrating that.”
Sorry Drago , I simply cannot ( nor do I want to) read every single one of your multiple rapid fire postings. I want to read what others here say, not only you, so I do ignore many of your comments.
So with CO2 not being at the factor, it was made out to be, and because the Paris Accord is based on the spectacle of a rapidly warming planet, Vahrenholt writes that the “foundation of the Paris Accord has collapsed.”
Only Europe and Canada exiting coal
Another reason the Paris Accord is collapsing is that it’s not going to do anything we were promised it would.
When it comes to coal, Vahrenholt notes, so far only Europe and Canada have expressed some sort of a commitment to exit coal, and then he reminds us China, India and all developing countries will still be permitted to continue “massively” expanding their use of coal. He writes:
In other words, Angela Merkel and her green punch drinkers think the climate is going to be saved if Germany shuts down 1/20 of what China and India are going to add. No wonder Trump dumped the idiotic Accord.
Inga; "Sorry Drago , I simply cannot ( nor do I want to) read every single one of your multiple rapid fire postings. I want to read what others here say, not only you, so I do ignore many of your comments."
Other posters did the very same thing...and you missed them too.

Politics of Trump Kim Summit

R/V is a treasure of silliness. What do you teach ?
Inga said: "Perhaps you missed it, but upthread I said I give Trump credit for pulling off the summit."
Sorry, good for you, but I skip most of your comments so I missed that. Your name is simply a convinient placeholder for me in most instances. You can safely skip over my comments as they are rarely directed at you personally. BTW, the President of the United States of America is who the credit should be given to. I don't give a damn what his name is.
Drago on the other hand is a national treasure. I wish I had half his knowledge and wit. A little repetitive at times, but still an enjoyable read.
I remember when Khrushchev visited a supermarket and probably thought it was a Potemkin display. Then I read Shevchenko's "Breaking With Moscow" and realized how shaken he must have been by it.
I wonder what Kim thinks as he has been in the West for school.
Kim Jong Un is an interesting character study. He's a third-generation hereditary ruthless dictator, and as might be expected having grown up in such a milieu, he had to be ruthless to survive and maintain his rule. Someone less ruthless, as his elder half-brother apparently was, would have ended up murdered in exile with nerve agent in an airport somewhere. KJU runs the prison camps, but he inherited them, he didn't create them. This is not to excuse the viciousness of his regime, but just to be thankful that I wasn't the one born into such a family and indoctrinated into such a culture. There but for the grace of God go I.
Kim seems to have gone to a Swiss German-language public school - that is, comparable to a US public school, not a British type exclusive private "public" school, for three years or so, for the equivalent of high school. He can be seen in group photographs of typical Swiss kids. So he probably has a good idea of a typical private life in the West.

Drago wil you please cease being manic? It’s annoying.
Personally, I think it would be wise for Inga to cease using "cease" improperly.
Now this is what I wanted to say next:
"I may be wrong, I mean I may stand before you in six months and say, 'Hey I was wrong,' [about Kim Jong-un], I don't know that I'll ever admit that, but I'll find some kind of an excuse."
When people tell you who they are believe them. When people tell you that they don't accept personal responsibility believe them.
Drago's response to sakredkow: +1
Drago will not be able to cease his mania in future.
sakredkow: "When people tell you who they are believe them."
What are we to make of the Iranian mullahs who chant "Death to sakredkow, in particular!"
It will be important for sakredkow's self-worth to find at least 1 talking point that he/she can stick with and feel like he/she/xe has "won" "Teh Interwebs".
LOL
The word cease has a future tense. Sheesh.
Own up. Move on.
Inga refuses to cease her manic search for mania.
Which, btw, could be a name for a rock band.
sakredkow thinks Matthew Broderick is a North Korean spy.
How else to explain that "War Games" is a term used only by America's enemies?
Does sakredkow really think the war-monger Trump will be afraid to hold future military exercises if he’s not happy with progress?
I can easily imagine Trump saying to Kim:
" You've recently been in South Korea. Look around as you sight-see here in Singapore. Then ask yourself what Pyongyang and the North have that any country would want to attack and invade you for."
What would you do if we all started agreeing with you?
@Inga, I'd assume time travel really exists and someone prevented your mother from dropping you on your head back when you were an infant.
I think it’s far more important to the Propagandizer to have self worth in front of others than Sacredkow, who doesn’t seem to care at all what you think, lol.
Drago will not be able to cease his mania in future.
Excellent! Proper structure and clear meaning. Nice work, Inga. Might even be true AND correct, knowing Drago.

They had no idea how it would work.
Original Mike: "Does sakredkow really think the war-monger Trump will be afraid to hold future military exercises if he’s not happy with progress?"
Lefty memes and narratives often collide since history begins anew every 15 minutes.
According to the lefties, Trump failed in the summit that the left said was impossible to have.
See what I mean?
sakredkow: "You can always, always tell when Drago's at a loss for an argument that he obviously thinks is snarky when he adds "LOL" at the end.
Trump cancelled military exercises with South Korea in return for nobody knows.
sakredkow: "Drago what failure?"
Playing dumb.
Nice.
Trump will never back away from this non-agreement. He's way more invested than Kim is. Kim already got everything he needs.
”Trump cancelled military exercises with South Korea in return for nobody knows.”
What do you want?
Birkel: "The action is on China. The trade negotiations with China are what really matter."
This has been stated and talked about a million times. But to the lefties, it's like the one dog whistle they can't hear!
Playing dumb.
Nice.
More snark. More nonarguments. Do you ever get tired of yourself?
sakredkow: "Kim already got everything he needs."
LOL
Well, then I guess he doesn't need food, technology, energy, more trade, easing of sanctions, etc.
Too funny.

Awesome.
sakredkow is Ritmo?
What do you want?
Trump said Kim assured him that North Korea would destroy a "major missile testing site" but it wasn't included in the agreement. He said there wasn't enough time to include it.
What do I want? Really? Why do you want so little?
There is no deal. - readering
Since you're privvy to all the details, maybe you could share with the class.
So, it turns out we have suspended military exercises in the past. It’s a mystery how they could have possibly restarted.
Yikes! (if you are a dem)
”What do I want? Really? Why do you want so little?”
They just started!!!! For Christ sake!
Well, then I guess he doesn't need food, technology, energy
Nope, Kim Jong-un and his elite advisors have done quite well for themselves all through the sanctions. Plus he now has photos and a boatload of concessions from this shitshow to bring home to his people. "See? I was right!"
It is something incredible, to observe the Leftist Collectivists deny what can be seen.
The economy is humming. Let's talk about that.
I use the economy as a proxy. Because anybody unwilling to discuss that unvarnished Trump victory is ready to deny all other available facts.
Let's discuss the economy.
sakredkow: "Nope,"
LOL
Uh, "yep".
They just started!!!! For Christ sake!
You missed it. Trump says he's been talking to Kim for 90 days.
"I can only tell you that from the time I’ve dealt with him, which is really starting like 90 days ago it’s been very strong. I think he wants to get it done."
President Trump on AF1 before departing Singapore
“It just keeps getting better and better.”
LOL, Drago you sure are on fire today, whoooo boy!

Uh, "yep".

"You Can Be a Critic of Trump and Still Root for Diplomacy to Succeed in Korea"
"Congressman Ro Khanna says Democrats should be encouraging statecraft that promotes cooperation and peace."
https://www.thenation.com/
At least they are being consistent.
Interesting point re International Answer (they are a faction of the commies, not all of them). They actually have a position on this event. They are for it.
Politics of Trump Kim Summit
"The most important point is that key sectors of the U.S. ruling class establishment view the Trump-Kim meeting with alarm. They want it to fail."
sakredkow: "Trump keeps you in the dark while he glorifies himself."
You should be ashamed to use any one of them for your silly comments.
and you believe it will end well for you.

But only every single thing you stand for.
So far it’s looking good for me.
Yes, Trump, too. Never mind how it is for our country. He doesn't.
Yes, they were all LOLing all over the place just like you do. You're a serious man.
Every one of those giants fought everything sakredkow fights for. And rightfully so.
sakredkow attempts a poor "Inga-like" morality ploy, assigning to himself the moral authority and moral superiority that never existed.

Not today.

We know and we intend to keep it that way. 250 years in you face.
Your face.
Inga: "ou have Propagandists like Drago who goes on for hours everyday otherizing people on the left, as if things weren’t divisive enough already."
Inga called every Trump voter a nazi and traitor.
But we aren't supposed to remember that, as it happened more than 15 minutes ago.

You’re hysterical Drago. Take a break step away from the keyboard.

I specifically excluded you from hard leftists like the World Workers Party, Inga. But if you think that they're not attracted to such a collectivist exhibition and vision, why else do you suppose ANSWER so glowingly describes that specific event as well as hosting a trip to North Korea in the first place?
Inga: "Drago, should I post a picture of a Trump rally?"
Who cares?
Should I post a thousand pictures of antifa (the group lefties said were like our D-day troops) burning things?
Should I link to the times when Trump had his cabinet around him and they all had to go around the table saying how much they were grateful to have him, even thanking god for the blessing of having Trump?
Jesus. That reminded me of Kim style worship.

Michael McNeil,
Of the liberals I know and I know many, many liberals, not one resembles the description of “leftists” I hear on these threads on a daily basis.
Royal ass Inga complains about what people think about Democrats. Or Leftists. And I think she has a point.
That is why I carefully distinguish Leftist Collectivists from Democrats.

I'm sure I've stated this before, but Leftists see people as mice in a maze, to be manipulated 'for their own good'. They truly believe that only they have the answers and if people would only listen and obey....

I interrupt this slugfest with a public service announcement.
If you want to learn about the Korean conflict you could do a lot worse than read this by Obama's old girlfriend:

Yeah, post the one from San Jose ca, where Trump supporters were attacked.
Titoist Yugoslavia did things in a similar way.

Quite so. I was a bit thrown above when someone referred to him as Ritmo.
Not the Ritmo style.
PPPT is ritmo.
And Inga loves him though he is precisely everything she claims to dislike, because lefty.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine an Inga stamping her foot, forever.
Royal ass Inga,
I use Democrat, leftist, Leftist, and Leftist Collectivists to mean four different groups - allowing for some overlap.
Your inability to see the distinction is not my fault. Do better.
Odd, I never lose my temper. I enjoy the game because it amuses me. The rest is all zeroes and ones.
“Odd, I never lose my temper. I enjoy the game because it amuses me.”
I’ve heard a psychopath say something very similar.

I disagree. They are all the same. Some are violent. That is the only difference.
Sure, losing your temper when discussing things at a distance with people unknown is the proper response. Keeping ones cool in such a situation proves a defect.
Perhaps I should be sent to a gulag pending further examination, Nurse Ratched?
Nope. Goofy Ritmo is incapable of restraint and brevity.
I don't know. He was starting to resemble the human scroll bar with lots of comments and got angrier and more insulting.
“I disagree. They are all the same. Some are violent. That is the only difference.”
Is that how you see your own liberal children?
Like I said, forever.
"Perhaps Navarro had it right. Trudeau undermined Trump's negotiating strength"
Did Trudy bring his serious eyebrows?
Inga: "I love some of you folks too. Mockturtle, Freeman Hunt, Traditional Guy and others. I recognize the decency, the humanity, that what I love. I also recognize that people lose their tempers and fight back and then all hell breaks loose."
As I thought. No specific criticism of one of the worst offenders here, because lefty.
He's so dreamy...
President Donald Trump has found an unlikely source of support as he meets with North Korea leader Kim Jong-un: Democrats! Progressive collectivists no less.
Amazingly oblivious.
3 Kim’s human rights abuses. As if Trump is supposed to forgo the deal because of this.
We already have a leftist complaint on another thread about this. I assume he wants nuclear war to fix the gulags.
I posted a very good Pat Buchanan column on the trade issue today.
I love that Congressional letter.
The next time those two Democrats don't support Trump on an obvious pro-U.S. policy it will make for a nice reminder that it is normally all about politics. Or when other Democrats rail against this chain of events, it will call into question their motivations.
Clog dancing...

Sorry Drago , I simply cannot ( nor do I want to) read every single one of your multiple rapid fire postings. I want to read what others here say, not only you, so I do ignore many of your comments.
Some leftist fool posted a comment about how many jobs Trump has saved.
I doubt that person would be interested in this news.
Coal to expand 43% worldwide
Of course that is impossible in the leftist book.
Inga; "Sorry Drago , I simply cannot ( nor do I want to) read every single one of your multiple rapid fire postings. I want to read what others here say, not only you, so I do ignore many of your comments."
Other posters did the very same thing...and you missed them too.
So my point stands.
Hell, Drago, it's at the top of DrudgeReport.
For Inga:
buwaya puti: "Interesting point re International Answer (they are a faction of the commies, not all of them). They actually have a position on this event. They are for it.
Politics of Trump Kim Summit
"The most important point is that key sectors of the U.S. ruling class establishment view the Trump-Kim meeting with alarm. They want it to fail."
Also Michael McNeil at 12:31 and 1:06 on this thread.
LOL
So typical.
Birkel: "Hell, Drago, it's at the top of DrudgeReport."
Indeed.
Bernie Sanders came out for the trip and the possibilities.
Inga just caught up.
Yes at least trump got in a not so subtle pitch to build Trump towers in NK, nothing like doing diplomacy and selling self interest at same time.
r/v: "Yes at least trump got in a not so subtle pitch to build Trump towers in NK, nothing like doing diplomacy and selling self interest at same time."
LOL
And that's all they've got, right there.
Perfect...and hilarious.
First, Reagan, Gorbachev, and the Soviet Union. Now, Trump, Kim, and North Korea. Maybe, potentially, good luck.
That particular comment was a PURPLE ELEPHANT.
Anybody who focuses on the PURPLE ELEPHANT immediately loses credibility.
#NotSerious
Thanks r/v.
n.n: "First, Reagan, Gorbachev, and the Soviet Union. Now, Trump, Kim, and North Korea. Maybe, potentially, good luck"
Yep.
There is not a single thing being said about Trump/Kim/NK that wasn't said in the 80's about Reagan/Gorby/Soviet Union.
The left doesn't have any new plays in its 90 year old playbook.
But whiny!
100 years, Drago. A solid 100.
And what's a hundred million plus early mass graves between friends?

R/V is a treasure of silliness. What do you teach ?

Sorry, good for you, but I skip most of your comments so I missed that. Your name is simply a convinient placeholder for me in most instances. You can safely skip over my comments as they are rarely directed at you personally. BTW, the President of the United States of America is who the credit should be given to. I don't give a damn what his name is.
Drago on the other hand is a national treasure. I wish I had half his knowledge and wit. A little repetitive at times, but still an enjoyable read.
"Yes at least trump got in a not so subtle pitch to build Trump towers in NK,"
That was great. Some nice beachfront condos, and a great golf course right over there. Laughed my ass off.
Michael K: "R/V is a treasure of silliness. What do you teach ?"
It has to be a junior high/middle school subject because most of r/v's comments don't even rise to High School level pablum.
pacwest: "That was great. Some nice beachfront condos, and a great golf course right over there. Laughed my ass off"
It was hilarious.
When you have an eye for development and spent you entire career doing it, it's impossible to turn it off.
Similarly, Bill Clinton can't help but look at any woman and not immediately begin thinking about utensils/articles and points of entry.
The leftist melt down is glorious.
Please do not stop posting how terrible this process is democrats.
Every dumbshit post by Inga/sakredcow/rv is another trump voter.
Please keep reminding everyone how stupid and insane with hatred you are.
The midterms are going to be epic.
Trump has no path to 270... err 500...
“I wish I had half his knowledge and wit.”
Well sheesh, you should’ve gone to Propaganda school too. You could’ve been Drago’s dorm mate.
Isn't it interesting how the left is all about personal insults ?
Well. I'm off to the shooting range.
Use the Althouse Amazon Portal to purchase your own life-like Inga
"Well sheesh, you should’ve gone to Propaganda school too. "
It used to be called rhetoric and it was one of the three liberal arts.
You tell 'em titser.
It would be interesting to see an Aristotelian analysis of modern meme wars, or troll-counter troll.
Flaming skull over at Ace's.

Hey congratulations are in order. They made a movie about Inga and her family and their escape from Germany after World War Two.
You must be very proud.
Inga: "Well sheesh, you should’ve gone to Propaganda school too. You could’ve been Drago’s dorm mate."
Some people simply use the more common "University" nomenclature.
