OK, technically you are correct. You suggested that our 300 million guns would be ineffective against MOABs and Nukes. So to be more true to your suggestion, educate me as to how a government uses MOABs and nuclear weapons on its own population and remains in power over anything worth governance.

Some points of order:

1. Given the support for the horrible and autocratic Trump administration there's a good chance that an American tyranny would still have a few million or hundred million gun owners to support it.

2. Being "worthy of governance" and remaining in power are two separate things.

Proceed again. There are many ways that tyranny can happen and remain in force. You folks are way more creative in your paranoia and pyromania than you are about politics and how social scenarios unfold. Especially in the autocracies that you think about the most.

Lemme check:
Nope, that rule has been removed due to complaints from a far more intelligent and interesting commenter.

He has nothing but amusingly average insults, repeated through thousands upon thousands of comments.

No accomplishments

No date tonight.

Check out how the anti-sexist SJW "FullMoon" (who's a beta cuck) refers to women who successfully run their own websites:

The REVOLUTIONARY appealed to mommy.

The linguistic acrobat actually called on mom to enforce the rules...

Not very respectful to women, I'd say.

No nukes, but the LDS folks pretty much ignore Moab. It works just fine. Good mountain biking and the Green River is fun. Anywho, be there or be square (I think that's what you golden years-ers say). I may see ya.

Why not ask the woman who owns the website if you broke her rules?

Well, obviously you won't because you have no respect for women. Or anyone, really. Especially if they're successful with something that you mooch off of. Which explains why you needed to marry a woman way more successful than you in order to get your name on the deed for a house purchase.

Now go tell us about that "date" you've got planned for "tonight?" Will she "roll her eyes" at you again?

You and I both know (as does everyone here) that you will stay here tonight for as long as I remain on it. So obviously you'd much rather be dating me than anyone else who could properly be referred to as being "in your 'life'".

ROFLMAO.

Get a life, beta. Figure out your sexuality first, though.

Dumbass.

I don't own a gun and don't want one. But there are some other "targets" worth considering here.

1. The increase in gunfights/slaughter in the film -- think Quentin Tarantino, Baby Driver, etc. There are more gun battles in PG-13 movies than R-rated ones. It's hard not to think that this prevalence suggests such is a normal way to resolve conflict to young men in gangs and inner cities.

2. The video game industry, which basically consists of guys at computers imagining they are powerful and good when they shoot and kill large numbers of bad guys.

3. The media lore around Eric Harris, the Columbine psychopath who seems to have inspired everyone from that Anders Breivik in Norway to the Virginia Tech wack job to one recent shooter (I con't remember the name, and why should I?) who deliberately set out to kill "more people than Harris"

4. The failure of mental health people to listen to school psychologists and experts who recommended a year earlier that Erik Cruz be hospitalized for serious mental problems. We know that his mother, still alive at the time, would have agreed to it.

5. The widespread family breakdown that leads certain men abandoned by their fathers to conclude that their greatest chance for recognition is to kill people -- a reflection of rage and the absence of modeling honorable male behavior.

Funny that you said that. Even though my comments were meant to be BS, I did think that while I was typing.

Anywho, if I were to consider sussing out the absurdity (obviously appealing to yur sensibilities) I say that we need to take over some of Canada for a contiguous corridor.

And, maybe we go south to grab Austin.

Thankfully we could count of the DJT wall to keep the middle out of our southern corridor. But, we'd need Meridian walls (perhaps choosing Meridian Idaho and Mississippi for locating it (I'm a sentimentalist at heart)).

OTOH, maybe we can keep buying snake oil sales men to keep them in line. Cheaper.

And, the kids are fish in a barrel, because Althouse has declared that they have no functioning brains. Therefore = debate over, w/o any debate. The old "STFU = I win" argument. They're more important and more human than you and they will have an impact on your cowardly politicians because they care about their lives and are smarter and you only care about your violent gun fantasies and warped and exaggerated political theories. This is what we pay our public servants to do, whether it impacts upon a fuckheaded selfish unAmerican lunatic like you or not. Then they should have no problem respecting and abiding by whatever measures or laws or policies could be enacted or enforced to make these school shooters less likely - either through their access or whatever else.

But you know who will have a problem respecting and abiding? The psychos that do all of the school shootings. Isn't it already illegal to kill someone? Then what measures and laws or policies on top of that do you think they would actually abide by? It is the height of naivete to believe that any legal regulations relating to gun control will actually control guns.

You're conflating the law abiding gun owners who are NRA members (who I have never seen any documented instance of committing a gun crime) with the thugs and criminals who don't give a damn about any laws whatsoever.

Since this is all for the children, libs, we should totally demands complete school choice for every child in America. Give parents the ability to choose a different school for their child if they feel the security at the current school is inadequate or they're worried that their child has a few classmates with a screw loose.

If it could save only one life, it's worth it.

So if you really care about kids, support school choice.

Otherwise, you're part of the problem and you want to see children die. And public unions that oppose this common-sense school choice measures care more about their profits than they do about the lives of children.

Do it for the children.

http://dailycaller.com/2011/06/28/here-is-a-picture-of-john-wayne-gacy-shaking-hands-with-rosalynn-carter/

Using Ritmo logic, I guess we can conclude that when Ritmo and ARM and antishitter aren't here posting dumb comments, they're off raping and murdering little boys and burying them in their basements.

Hey, did you know that neither Bundy nor Gacy ever used a gun to murder someone? Doesn't that win them some gold stars from liberals? It's so much better to die of asphyxiation or strangulation or by being bludgeoned!!

Bilwick said...

Re the "chickenhawk" theme, I've applied that to other parts of the "liberal" agenda beyond disarming the citizenry. For example: redistribution of income. Instead of relying on Big Brother's thugs to do it for you, have the testicularity to hold people up at gun-point yourselves. I'm sure rich folk such as Darth Soros and the Hollywood Left don't have armed guards protecting themselves and their mansions. Go ahead, "liberals"--make our day!

No, and we're certainly not trying to proliferate more bang-bang toys into the hands of what you think of as ready would-be militiamen like Nikolas Cruz and many others like him so as to gun them all down and murder and maim them so much more quickly and efficiently, either. That's what you and your ilk are here for, remember? Indulging your old lady cowardice takes precedence over keeping those kids safe, according to you.

I guess that's why you couldn't actually raise that kid. Try being responsible and not enabling those mass murder policies for the sake of your "feelings."

It's not venomous to prioritize the safety of kids while going to class over your need to indulge paranoid, lunatic, pervasive conspiracy theories by making semi-automatics available to anyone who wants one. Only someone given to prioritizing paranoid conspiratorial thinking over saving actual lives would think something so stupid and immoral.

If you're really willing to see that many more people die just for the sake of how this discussion wounded your very fragile feelings then that already tells the country why so many like you are ok with seeing so many innocents die. Take responsibility for getting them killed and credit the boost to your feelings that that must have done for you.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

TTR:

I don't take any special pride in being on the right moral side of the "whether more kids die or more lunatics feel respected" pseudo-controversy. That's just the normal stance to take. If your stance disgusts/debases you and everyone else well, that's because it's disgusting. It just goes to show how unworthy of consideration you are if you're even willing to blame your admitted moral inferiority on anyone speaking up for what these kids shouldn't have to go through. It's not that we're better than anyone else; it's that you're worse than almost everyone else.

Go watch those kids. So many videos of them by now. Great kids; very inspiring. I bet you couldn't stand to watch a single one. They disgust you, don't they? You have so much contempt for them, I'd bet. And for their lives... and futures. No wonder you have to shift the discussion to one of character; you're not showing any. I'm getting the sense you might not even have any.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It is the height of naivete to believe that any legal regulations relating to gun control will actually control guns.

Nope, it just means that I have enough respect for factual reality to accept the country-by-country data on that and not feel compelled to take a bunch of destructive firepower to it. Hell, Congress even outlawed CDC funds to researching gun violence. That tells America all we have to know about where the gun nuts are at and the blood money their reps get from the NRA. They are against the evidence - any evidence. It's not enough for them to hide under their sofas hunkered down with a rifle at the ready 24/7. They have to cover their ears and eyes as well. Even the likelihood of a murder or suicide in a household with a firearm is much greater than one without; but it's nice that you folks seem to want to shut out that piece of data, as well. I guess it's like the mass die-off of the American white males - you're so opposed to any evidence/data about it that you'll willingly do whatever it takes to keep it up. Taking your own lives and others just to feel safe. Remember what Franklin said about purchasing safety for the cost of liberty.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

NO one cares about your "conclusion". You are an illogical person.

Go run around in high schools with your knives or whatever else. Keep waving them around to scare everyone else. See what happens.

You call people collectivists because you are incapable of distinguishing one person's position from another's.

Either way you will lose. Because you refuse to comprehend that the Heller decision said that 2A doesn't get to be some unique, unlimited right. It has limits.

Everything else is just part of your "I want to kill people because I imagine they are taking my own guns (and not Nikolas Cruz, etc.) away" fantasy. It's pretty ugly. Fantasize about something else, instead. Whether you're affected or not no one cares about, I'm sure. Are you on the no fly list? Have a domestic violence conviction? Posting violent comments? Have multiple police calls and institutionalization about your behavior?

Go ahead and list your weapons. What are they? You seem to care more about them than anyone here does. I thought your right was an "individual" one, anyway. As an individual (unless you are a collectivist part of a collective) how are you exercising it? If you don't specify, then no one can know how the measures will likely affect poor little old gun-loving BIrkel.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Every act of the Leftist Collectivists is an attempt to wrestle power from individual citizens.

What are your individual weapons? Were they purchased (and/or registered) in someone else's name? Were they acquired collectively or individually? Is your right an individual one or a collective one?

You could go ahead and answer that or admit that you think the Heller decision was rendered in error and that we need to return to the pre-2006 status that determined the 2nd amendment was a collective right.

Your decision, sloppy shooter.

I want criminals to have to guess which occupants of houses will be capable of protecting themselves, thereby reducing the number of home invasions, rapes and murders perpetrated by the lawless. I want you to try to disarm your fellow citizens. Why do you imagine violence? Surely the law abiding citizens will readily give in to a law. Test your theory. I support you.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Why don't you care about people sitting home at night half an hour from the nearest police?

I never said that a home far away from the nearest police shouldn't have different gun laws than those in a city. Even Bernie Sanders who represents Vermont says as much. That's why these laws are enacted on a municipal or state basis. You are representing me because you need to lie about my position in order to make a case. This is a straw man.

Why don't you care about all the women who avoid armed attackers due to the true threat of self-defense?

Can't remember when I ever said that, either. Once again, a straw man. I never said an individual should be denied a gun right on behalf of their sex. Show me where I did or admit to another straw man.

I want you to try to disarm your fellow citizens.

Lol. Well, there we go - the true nature of what you're up to. Did I ever once advocate mass "disarmament?" Nope. Not once. But as a citizen I have a right to vote for the politicians and policies I think make sense to me. You are advocating for something that I never did and don't. If you want mass disarmament then admit that - or well, it seems you just did. But I did not. That's not my position. Lie about it however you want, though - the 1st amendment affords you the right to lie. But it also allows me to call out your lie and every person reading this can judge for themselves just how dishonest and agenda-oriented your false accusation is.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

"misrepresenting* me," rather.

Birkel said...

If you advocate banning guns, as the anti-gun rally did, you advocate reducing self defense. You don't have to state the natural results of your preferred policies for me to recognize those natural results.

Noting cause and effect is not a straw man argument.

You make poor sport.

Your position is disarming your fellow citizens. That makes those citizens more likely to be victims unable to defend themselves. Women will be especially vulnerable. Old people will be more vulnerable. Those results will naturally obtain.

The anti-gun protest was in D.C. Your backpedal from an imposition of a federal law is laughable.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Banning all guns or some? And why do you keep upholding Nikolas Cruz and every other "fellow citizen" as the sort of gun right spokesmodel that you need to defend? The Heller decision upholds the banning of Saturday Night Specials - just as an example. Do you disagree with that or not? It's the law of the land as decided by Scalia. You're not going to get a more permissive ruling. Ever. Ever again. Do you disagree and do you want SAMs and flamethrowers to be available or are you ok with restricting the scope of available carried weaponry as already enshrined in the judicial ruling that is the very law of the land?

Cite anyone who successfully used an AR-15 for home defense.

How many Americans were killed using the same AR-15s that are designed to make single shots much more deadly to human beings.

AR-15s and their ammunition are for hunting people. That's their design purpose. Everything else you blabber on about is just a way to deny that fact and deny the rights of the people who don't want to be menaced by them.

You laugh at people who get killed while talking about how much killing power you want for people who live by imaginary fears as you do. So you're not decent and not capable of a good faith discussion. But your position will lose.

Birkel said...

How many by ARs? More than zero. After ARs are banned you will stop? So just give the Dane a bit of geld, you say?

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Another reason Birkel's "position" will lose (if he even has one) is that he doesn't know what it is. He says he is against "banning guns" and says this as a way to deny that certain guns already can be banned constitutionally. That's the law of the land. But since he refuses to distinguish between banning a certain kind or kinds or gun and apparently all guns he gets to muddle the majority of people who agree with the former in with the latter - who are a tiny minority if they even exist. So he can't define his position and relies on obscuring the majority's position in order to increase his verbal firepower here. But everyone can see how poorly aimed it is. He may feel he can bulldoze over and disrespect commenters here but his position is with inaction and getting more kids killed and that's why it will lose. He doesn't care about the kids but he cares about losing. So he deserves to lose. Anyone who's ok with getting more people killed should lose in as many things as possible. He even brought up the lives/self-defense of women and rural inhabitants to talk about differentiating the scope of the law - so we know he was disingenuous because he obviously doesn't care about their lives any more than he does about the kids in Florida. He's just a paranoid gun lover who likes seeing people get killed. It's now obvious.

Why is it that the gun nuts never care about people's lives and are such poor shots with their arguments? Ever notice that? Weird. It's almost like they love guns because they're such unclear and inaccurate thinkers. DOesn't give one much confidence about their own aim.

OK but since I do not know you there will be some assumed facts not in evidence.

Because you are "The Toothless Revolutionary" let us repair to somewhere near Lexington.

It has been an awful winter but today it is 65 degrees and the office in your nice colonial on Governrs Ave. in Medford Massachusetts is just too confining. A walk towards South Reservoir sounds great. South Border Road has light traffic and there is a chance you will hear one of the first returning red-wing black birds. The woods are tranquil and a soft breeze from the South portends a delightful evening. Winchester has been getting a little sketchy but hasn't everyone experienced a little of that.

Having gone a half mile down the road, suddenly, from the northwest, a couple, as in two, Rottweilers appear. Each weighs about 85 pounds and is trailing about ten feet of chain and are travelling approximately 15 miles an hour. You showered and put on clean clothes this morning but your cat was curled up on your lap while you were perusing Althouse and, man, these brothers hate cats.
