I think Chuck must have taken Meade's advice..... of course, that must be it. Right? Bueller? Bueller?
But it could be worse than Kenny G. It could have been something like Jay-Z rapping about molesting women like Obama likely had (I wouldn't know, calling the Obama white house seems like a total exercise in futility unless you were Russian with millions to "donate" to Hillary).
A couple years ago there was a news story about a flight that was delayed and Kenny G was one of the passengers. To keep the passengers on the plane calm, Kenny G treated them all to a free concert of sorts. He went up and down the aisle playing his clarinet (or whatever godforsaken instrument he plays).
Just the thought of it almost made me quit air travel.
Wow - why the hate for Kenny G's music in this comments section?!! My wife & drove 6 hours for a Christmas concert last month & had a splendid time. He has a great personality, was incredibly interactive with the crowd, turned over the spotlight to each of his 5 band members (that he's been with for 30+ years).
I saw Quaestor mention Beethoven and somehow read it as "Beowulf" and immediately my mind when to Trump tearing the arm off of Grendel that looks suspiciously like Nancy Pelosi or Lil' Kim in NK or something and then beating them over the head with their own arm.
Why the hate for Kenny G.? Because haters gon hate.
Personally I don't find him too bad in limited doses. Now, you could get me to confess to just about anything by making me listen to recordings of Mariah Carey. Haters gon hate.
In 1996 I attended a Hootie and the Blowfish show at the Fargodome because They Might Be Giants were the warm-up act. (A band that got their start by putting songs on their answering machine.)
I had the usual elitist disdain for Hootie etc. But damn, they were good. Tight and professional and very entertaining. And they brought TMBG back for a joint encore.
I think of Kenny G. in the same way. A pro's pro. I'd go see him in concert if TMBG were warming up.
It was Meade who posted the number, in the comments to the Althouse post concerning the video of Trump talking immigration. Meade seemed to want me to call the White House to make my displeasure known, concerning Trump's apparently new "amnesty" stance on immigration. Talk to Meade about it.
When Bill Clinton was president, the tune you got was the haunting love theme from "Deep Throat." ("Deep Throat . . . deeper than deep, your throat. . . .")
When Obama was president, the musical greeting was the Beatles' "Taxman."
Don't ask me how I know. Let's just say the information is emotionally accurate.
Why the hate for Kenny G? Certainly he is technically proficient, no matter what you think of the soprano sax. Music, though, isn't even worth doing if it doesn't make the audience feel something. This is what 'soul' is. Beethoven has it-- Kenny G doesn't.
John Philip Sousa marches by the Marine Band should be the waiting music -or, perhaps, Copland's Lincoln Portrait. Either be patriotic or learn something!
The soprano sax is right up there with Chinese water torture. Cruel and unusual punishment.

Did Chuck tell you?
Well that alone will discourage me from ever calling the White House!
There’s a Kenny G-Trump golfer connection. Plus Kenny Gs misic is greating so it gets people off the phone.

Kenny G did the soundtrack for the Gorilla Channel.
I called the power company RF interference division, to get a sparking insulator fixed. The secretary put me on hold.
The music on hold was Für Elise, its one voice played by spare cycles of the call director CPU.
When the secretary returned I asked "Did you know you have Beethoven for music on hold?"
She said, "I know. There's nothing we can do about it."

It's actually Bill Clinton, they just haven't bothered to change it
I wouldn't know - they never put me on hold.
That's gotta be a violation of some law or human right.
Time to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Neighbor?
Better than Jay Z and recordings of Obama speeches from the infamous iPod he gave to poor ol Queen Elizabeth.
Not saying how I know. Just saying I never call the White House.

I first heard Kenny G when I called my office from home and got put on hold.
Horrible stuff. Why not a little late Beethoven? It must be cheaper, at least.

What a great image!

Just saying.

I meant "notionally accurate." This thing self "corrected" without me noticing.

PAT METHENY HARDEST HIT!
Kenny G walked into an elevator and said, 'Boy, this place is rockin'.

Nah.
Coltrane.
