Metaphorical thinking about the secret House memo.

I'm reading Axios. Boldface added:
The coming release of a secret House memo, hotly sought by conservatives, will intensify the great muddying of the Russia investigation in the public's mind.

Why the memo matters: Trump's allies are betting that when all is said and done — and when special counsel Bob Mueller has completed his report — the American people will be so thoroughly disgusted with everyone that the political outcome is a wash.

I have been flooded with email from conservatives who have been ignited by the #ReleaseTheMemo campaign that has flourished online, fed by Fox News.

That smoldering fire ignited yesterday after the House Intelligence Committee voted along party lines to release the memo, with the final decision up to President Trump....

Last night, I saw how hot the House was burning when I interviewed Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the Intelligence Committee's top Democrat....
The first metaphor is "muddying." The memo isn't making anything clear, just part of a strategy to disorient and confuse.

The second metaphor is water. There's a "flood" and maybe all the confusing mud will just be resolved by declaring the whole thing "a wash."

Third, there is fire, and that's just political fervor. The water could take care of the fire as well as the mud.

When did we start using "wash" like that, to mean "A balanced outcome; a situation or result which is of no net gain or loss"? The OED has that meaning only as a draft addition. It calls it "U.S. colloq." with the first usage in 1976:
1976 National Observer (U.S.) 10 Apr. 5/4 If Humphrey were the more Democratic nominee, it would be more or less of a wash, because Humphrey is an old Washington hand too, and he carries many of the same scars as Ford.
By the way, did you know the word "wash" can refer to a measure for oysters and whelks? "Each smack takes about 40 wash of whelks with her for the voyage" (1879). What's a "smack"? Some kind of woman? No, the "her" is for a ship — "A single-masted sailing-vessel, fore-and-aft rigged like a sloop or cutter, and usually of light burden, chiefly employed as a coaster or for fishing, and formerly as a tender to a ship of war."

Oh, the things we are learning today. I'm so glad I have existing tags for "mud" and "mollusks."

Not a word is written considering the possibility that the Democrats have been caught red handed trying to commit a coup, I see. It's just Republicans trying to muddle the totally above board, totally legitimate Russian investigation. Right.

Democrats: for whom Treason is always a possibility, and never, ever bad. Ask Ted Kennedy.

It will be the opposite of muddying. It will be clarifying. People will pick sides.

Of course, it's "muddying" the Russia Investigation. Getting hoisted on ones own petard is indeed a "muddying" situation.

I love it when reporters who have no clue as to what goes on in the Right-wing hive-mind try and piece it out when it becomes necessary that they pay attention to it. The reason that the Righties are all riled up is because they've believed since month one of the Obama administration that the powers of the federal government were being used as weapons against them. The memo, if it lives up to its hype, will prove to them that the weaponization of the federal government against them had moved further along & involved more agencies (like the FBI) than they thought.

It's like going to bed thinking the world runs like Mitt Romney & waking up to find it runs like Alex Jones. So, yeah, the Righties are bigly huffed about it.

Let's be honest hear, the whole "Russia investigation" was pretty damned muddy from the jump. As far as I know there's never been a specific crime, just a vague idea of "collusion" or whatever. It's clearly just a concerted effort to find something, anything that could be used to unseat a duly elected president. And failing that, simply create enough Fear Uncertainty and Doubt (aka gaslighting) as to keep the presidents approval numbers down and grind his agenda to a halt, and get the GOP to lose elections.

It's hard to imagine a scenario in which the released memo would not clarify more than it would obscure - unless the authors of this metaphorical storm are concerned more about the survival of a particular narrative than how closely that narrative conforms to reality.

Obama spied, Clinton colluded, DNC denied the nomination to the Jew.

What the memo may prove is that Obama participated in the cover-up, and may, in fact, have lead the axis factions.

Also, there is a question why the establishment lead a sincere effort to abort the Republican candidate and then President, and risked exposure and criminal sanction for violating the Constitution and disenfranchising the People.

As for Russia, intervention in Obama's social justice adventures and prevention of another refugee crisis, and the memories and phobias of Soviet-era relics, is sufficient to explain the progressive coup and intransigence.

What the memo may prove is that Obama participated in the cover-up

A major element of Obama's participation in the RussiaGate hoax was his expulsion of the Russian diplomats. This action created a presumption among the public that the US Government had compelling intelligence that Russia had meddled in the US election.

A few days later, James Clapper, Obama's Director of National Intelligence, published a report summarizing the Intelligence Community's finding. The evidence was just stupid stuff, such as RT television broadcasts that criticized fracking.

Obama's expulsion of the Russian diplomats also set the stage for the Deep State's imminent efforts to undermine Trump's in-coming administration. Trump and his staff would be attacked for attempting to deal rationally with the expulsion of the Russian diplomats. The Deep State would leak wire-tapped information that Trump's staff was dealing with the Russians on this important matter.

Of course, Obama did more than just expel the diplomats, but people should keep in mind that element of his direct participation.

I see too many people who either believe (a) "Trump did nothing wrong, the investigation was corrupt," or (b) "Trump did something wrong, the investigation was not corrupt". But people are ignoring the other possibilities neither of which is internally inconsistent with logic: (c) "Trump did something wrong, but the investigation was corrupt" and (d) "Trump did nothing wrong and the investigation was not corrupt."

In my opinion too many Trump supporters are endorsing (a) and ignoring the possibility of (c). They seem to believe that by providing evidence of investigatory corruption they are also providing evidence of Trump's guilt. It is true that evidence of investigatory corruption will make it harder to find guilt of Trump-related individuals in a court, or even in the court of public opinion, but it will not be proof of innocence, especially as historians review the situation.

He expanded the ability of the NSA to share intelligence to other agencies.

This ended with Fusion GPS, Crowdstrike, and several other democrat front companies illegally getting direct access to 702 related intel on americans who were tapped in communication with other people and illegally unmasked by the Obama administration.

Obama is in this up to his eyeballs. He will go to jail at best if there is any justice left in this republic.

Mike Sylwester said...

In April 2017, three months after Trump became President, the US Justice Department renewed its FISA warrant to investigate all of Clarence Page's communications. The FISA renewal was supported by Rod Rosenstein.

The purpose of the renewal was not to investigate Page's communications in 2017 and 2018. Rather, the purpose was to enable the FBI to continue to fish endlessly through Page's communications in 2015 and 2016. Rosenstein hoped that the FBI might find in Page's old communications some tidbit that would enable the Deep State to extend its RussiaGate hoax until the 2018 elections.

Of course, Rosenstein knows that RussiaGate is a bullshit hoax, but he wants to protect the reputation of the Justice Department and its FBI.

He selected Robert "The FBI Whitewasher" Mueller to cover up the FBI's misdeeds and to drag the hoax out until November 2018, when the Democrats might win a majority in the House and enable a whitewashed conclusion of the "investigation".

Rosenstein selected Mueller because Mueller is the one person in the entire world who is most motivated and able to whitewash the FBI.

As long as Mueller's "investigation" dragged on, Rosenstein would use the investigation as a justification for keeping all incriminating information from Congress.

Foreign interference in US political campaigns is long-standing, as is semi-surreptitious foreign financing. And all sorts of other illegal-conspiratorial acts, like organized political violence.

None of these were significant political issues before. It all is an exercise in double standards.

Whether or not the FBI ever found some tidbit in Page's old communications, the FISA renewal enabled the Deep State to assert that it still was conducting active investigations.

!! Wire-taps of suspects in Russia meddling currently are being conducted !!

That general statement would be leaked to Trump-hating journalists who would report this alleged justification for continuing the "investigation" until the 2018 elections.

Of course, the Trump-hating, leak-receiving journalists would not mention that the wire-tap was being conducted still on poor Clarence Page and that the "current wire-tap" is a fishing expedition of Page's communications in 2015 and 2016.

Sara Carter is now reporting that her sources inform her that former FBIDD McCabe had asked agents to alter some of their already-submitted reports and interviews irt the 'Russian' probe.

That would be huge...and if it bears out will only go further to support my belief that McCabe is rolling-over on the corruption in return for lenient sentencing and retaining his pension. I have no particular insights into this of course. All conjecture. However, if McCabe was engaging in criminal activities (and what Sara describes would be a clear crime) then I have to think that would be grounds for immediate dismissal and more punitive measures to follow. But he still has his pension... makes one wonder.

Could also be, as I pointed-out in another post, that McCabe's being put on terminal leave is just because CS rules make it so difficult to fire someone quickly: Just put McCabe on leave while jumping through CS the hoops to really can him.

“One of the last things Obama did before he left office.

He expanded the ability of the NSA to share intelligence to other agencies.”

I think that the whole thing was maybe a bit more complex. Normally, intelligence is highly compartmentalized. One of the problems that his Administration had was how to get access for the political side to national security information involving their political enemies - notably the Trump campaign (and transition team). The way that they apparently got around compartmentalization is to include the information in Obama’s Presidential Daily Briefings (PDBs). While the various intelligence agencies still owned the underlying intelligence, the combination was owned by the White House, that could then control its distribution. Under Nixon, the only PDB recipients were POTUS and his faithful sidekick, Henry Kissinger. By the end, under Obama, the PDBs were apparently available to > 30, including political staffers like Ben Rhodes. Getting back to what was in them - in the past, PDBs mostly included summaries, with the details remaining in the agencies owning the intelligence. The Obama Administration moved some of the rawer intelligence into the PDBs, which could then be distributed to those > 30 people every day. And, it turns out that some of that rawer intelligence finding its way into the PDBs was apparently the results of “about” searches of the NSA 702 databases, likely on the (spurious) grounds of Russian collusion, with the search keys apparently being the names of the Trump campaign team. Which, of course, is where the loosening of the unmasking comes in - it would have done them little good if they couldn’t see who was doing what.

The interesting thing here is that the Obama Administration tweaked things a little, a little there, but never enough to get the suspicions up at the FISC, which had to approve the changes. In the end, FISA in general, and the 702 collections, had been weaponized for partisan advantage, despite strict prohibitions against any of it in the FISA statutes. US Persons, obviously mostly in the US, were being actively surveiled by our govt, using mechanisms designed to maximally protect just this class, while allowing our intelligence community to gather national security information around the world, and, in particular, outside the US. This all changed and started to fall apart in approximately October, 2016, when NSA Dir Adm Rogers went to the FISC with his initial findings from a 702 conformance review that he had initiated after detecting some questionable accesses. This is where it was discovered how 702 “about” queries were being abused, that there was an awful lot of unmasking going on, much requested from the WH by people in political and/or intelligence consuming positions, instead of intelligence generating positions, which is what is supposed to happen. And, ultimately that the infirect target of much of this was the Trump team. Plus, that the FBI had given some of its contractors (illegal) access to search the 702 databases. Critical parts of the FISC opinion discussing this have been declassified and published. (And it has been maybe 9 months since Nunes went over to the SCIF at the EOB to view those weaponized PDBs. They are no doubt still available for anyone else with the appropriate security clearances and need to know - including the execrable Adam Schiff).

The basic problem for Obama here is that he doesn’t have plausible deniability. The President has the ultimate control over what goes into his PDBs and who gets to see them. They are created daily for him. If he wasn’t reading them, and seeing all the illegal content in them, then why was that content in the PDBs in the first place? The subterfuge was that it was in there for him, and others, including political operators, just sometimes happened to see it. Content that for many of them, would have been illegal to request to see, and maybe even to actually see.

But "wash" in the sense of washing dirt out is not the same as having 2 things going on at the same time (in parallel developments) and then looking at them together and declaring it "a wash." It's not like one thing got "dirtied" by the other. The 2 things are both bad, but by viewing them together, you can declare a cancellation. It's more like a balance sheet. Why that got into the metaphor associated with cleaning, I wonder, because the thing that does the "cleaning" is really another dirty thing. Concretely, 2 dirty things don't clean each other. What Putin needs to finally gain complete control over Russia and reinstate the Soviet Union, is a collapse of its military and economy. Once that occurs he can do something, something, something...and voila! Putin's happy. Thanks to his puppet, President Donald Trump.

That you don't see it is, frankly, disturbing.

John (not Leon) Podesta left the Podesta Lobbying group a decade ago to go to work for Hillary. His brother Tony left the group on the day of the Manafort indictment in which his firm was fingered for Russian/Ukranian shilling.

John has been busy chasing aliens (the outer space kind) and UFO's (for real). Tony has more or less disappeared since his resignation.

Where's Tony now? I think the answer is obvious. Good luck to John, aka Mulder, in his search. The truth is out there.

A Wash is a deal accepting an offset claim applied to a debt without leaving any balance due.

"Taking a bath" means a debtor who filed a Bankruptcy having the same off set of his total debts by Court injunction. It is always about the cancelation of debts that gives a debtor a fresh start.

A Jewish Prophet from Nazareth named Jesus included a segment in his model prayer that has the supplicant offer a deal to cancel debts of his debtors to the extant that God cancels his debts, to be done by payment made in God's blood on Good Friday.

Ah, the wash concept. It is most familiar to investors who try to recognize a loss for tax purposes, but like the prospects of the company that they have sold--the IRS "wash sale" rules determine whether the loss will be allowed. If you sell a stock at a loss and then purchase it again (whether by direct purchase or option) within 30 days, the loss on the sale will not be recognized because the two transactions have washed each other out. There are some fine points that I haven't bothered to look up.

Most of the Nunes memo supporters here are couching their language with terms like "it it is true' and 'assuming the GOP hasn't overstated its case'.

It is those on the left who derogate it and claim it lacks verity. That side won't even entertain that the memo may be true.

I'd say one side is cautiously hopeful and the other side is issuing base denials. Only one of those reactions is justified considering that the public hasn't seen the memo yet.

If Trump is innocent, as per two of your options, he should be exonerated.

If the Trump is guilty but the process is corrupt as we can show the process as being corrupt, the victim of the corruption (Trump) is according to our jurisprudence let free.

The only was to nail Trump is if a) he is guilty (which the Left decided BEFORE the investigation began) and b) the process is not corrupt.

I would not hold long odds on that process not being corrupt. It already has a pungent odor coming from it.

From StephenFearby's link:

"Shearer’s career took a strange turn when the Clintons entered the White House in 1992. His entrée into the first family’s orbit was Strobe Talbott, Shearer’s brother-in-law, who had been a friend of Bill Clinton since the president’s days at Oxford. Talbott served as a deputy secretary in Bill Clinton’s State Department; his brother-in-law took a different route, allegedly working with Clinton enforcer Terry Lenzner to investigate and, at times, intimidate women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual harassment.

But Shearer’s political intrigues in the ’90s extended beyond U.S. shores. In the middle of the decade, for reasons that remain unclear, he traveled to Europe to negotiate with associates of Radovan Karadzic, the Bosnian-Serb president known to have orchestrated the mass killings of Bosnian Muslims — including the Srebrenica genocide — during the brutal Yugoslav Wars. Representing himself as an agent of the State Department, Shearer told his Serbian contacts, which included members of Karadzic’s family, that he could reduce the severity of impending war-crimes charges if Karadzic surrendered. He claimed he was in contact not only with his brother-in-law, but also with then-secretary of state Madeleine Albright and even with President Clinton himself."

The hilarious leak of the laughable Cody Shearer/Sydney Blumenthal "corroboration" of the laughable unvetted unocorroborated hoax dossier on top of Nancy Pelosi's guffaw-inducing performance with Chris Cuomo (who is her pal!) tells us precisely what the level of panic is amongst the insiders who know just how much information there is out there showing how far the dems went to illegally spy on domestic political opponents and weaponize intelligence.

You will know the dems have reached Peak Panic when the they begin to attack, in a serious way, IG Horowitz prior to release of his year-long, million+ government document-based Inspector Generals report on corruption at the FBI/DOJ in February.

BTW, we haven't even begun to speak about the Presidential Daily Brief records that were likely to be the documents Devin Nunes read in the White House SCIF early last year.

We are likely to find that those PDB's will have been chock full of unredacted Trump campaign/family/associates info after the illegal spying and that highly classified data was made available to over 30+ individuals daily in the obama white house, including purely political appointees.

All of that info was then spread broadly with limited controls after obama "quietly" greatly expanded distribution rules late in 2016.

If you want to know why a state dept hack like Evelyn Farkas was running around Europe telling her international peers that Trump, in the event he won the election, would never even make it to the inauguration, well, now you know how she came across the info.

Here's a fun video documenting it from 2016 PRIOR to the election:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl_RATH89UM

Go to the 10:00 mark to catch Evelyn's answer about what she thinks would happen if Trump somehow were to win.

At right around 11:00 she mentions that if he was elected he would be impeached right away and replaced.

Farkas quote: "And actually, if Donald Trump were elected I believe he would be impeached pretty quickly, or somebody else would have to take over government. And I'm not even joking."

I wonder where this State Dept, non-intel person, who happened to have access to the PDB info, might have gotten the idea that Trump would be impeached quickly if he won PRIOR tot the election?

I wonder indeed....

james K at 1:47. It's possible that Trump (or associates) did something wrong (for example making a deal with the Russians to support Trump's presidential run in exchange for reducing sanctions after Trump entered office) but that it was too hard to find convincing evidence that would hold up in a court without using made-up (notice I didn't use "trumped-up") evidence to convince the FISA court to allow a wiretap to collect the evidence against Trump associates. So a policeman might plant a gun at a crime scene to prove that the actual killer was a killer.

Mike Sylwester at 1:50. I don't suppose that Trump did anything wrong, but you know the list of allegations: collusion (see my response above to James K), moneylaundering, or some allegation I can't quite tie down that the Trump campaign hired a Russian agent, Carter Page.

Amadeus 48 at 2:21. If there is no evidence of a crime, the investigation will show. But I think it is too soon to say "they haven't filed charges yet, so they never will."

FIDO at 3:18. I agree, but I see a lot of pro-Trump comments along the lines of "the investigation is corrupt, so Trump is innocent," and a see a lot of anti-Trump comments along the lines of "Trump is guilty so the investigation is not corrupt."

Logic which ignores facts is not logical. We have already proven corruption within the intelligence agencies on multiple grounds and occasions. We have seen no evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians in any way, and it was always a laughable idea that Trump would be the pick of the Russians. His energy policy alone was a great disadvantage to them.

The first, and one of the most dire, was in the joint intelligence assessment released that they had grounds to believe that the Russians were trying to interfere with the election. AFTER Trump was elected, Obama gave that press conference at which he stated that the integrity of the voting was not implicated and that the Russian interference evidence was based on the DNC hack. But since, we have very strong evidence that the DNC hack was an inside job, and even when the original joint intelligence assessment was publicized, everyone outside the government who looked at their released evidence thought it didn't prove anything. The best one could assume from that is that the intelligence agencies are completely incompetent, which at that level, constitutes a guilty level of negligence exercised in a terribly problematic way during an active election, and dovetailing with claims made by one of the candidates. Molly, if you do not see that you are effectively blind!

The second set of proofs we have are that the internal controls (required by law) regarding FISA information were violated by some one who had top level access at the WH. This is established. It's not in dispute.

The third set of proofs we have is that it was DHS which was caught probing voter databases/state systems in multiple states.

The fourth set of proofs we have are those which are just emerging now - the texts, etc.

This is not a matter of a corrupt investigation - it is a matter of an investigation which was set up to cover up corruption and lawbreaking at high levels. The investigation itself could be conducted without corruption but still would be tainted due to its reasons for existence. There has to a cause for an investigation before one is launched. That is a fundamental safeguard.

But I forgot, it's time to Not Believe Women, at least for the next 15 minutes after which We Can Believe All Women Again!

Huzzah!

Inga: "Drago, so naive."

Inga call Stormy Daniels a liar again.

That's twice in one thread.

Behold: Feminism!

Inga,

Be honest. Tell us what benefits (financial or otherwise) you get from repeating, copying and pasting DNC talking points.

BTW, only idiots look at short term performance in the stock market. It is a self correcting FREE ENTERPRISE mechanism. That's why you lefty commissar wannabes hate it.

buwaya said...

"BTW, only idiots look at short term performance in the stock market. "

The fundamentals aren't there yet for a real correction. We can expect one eventually, but earnings season is here and the rumor mill is full of good news.

“The real question is whether they are of such quality that the temptation to which Trump was subjected was beyond the normal range of human resistance. Granted this is subjective. Subjective but informative nonetheless.”

I’ll wager a bet that Melania’s are far superior to the bimbo’s. No fake humongous bimbo boobs should have driven him to cheat on his gorgeous wife.

Matt Sablan said...

If McCabe told people to alter their records and tried to hide Clinton's donation to his wife's campaign, I'd hope there's a bribery investigation going on.

You go ahead and rush to judgment, Igna. The rest of us intend to examine *all* of the evidence. Very carefully.

Be honest and tell the folks here why a nursing home psychologist is obsessed with Inga. I’m not even 65 yet.

Fine, they’re all yours and Buwaya’s. Drago wants no part of it, because she’s as innocent as the driven snow.

Francisco D said...

@Buwaya

I can't remember the author of the quote, but someone said that the stock market operates on two emotions: fear and greed.

Without making any value judgement on either emotion, the best thing is that they self-correct.

Bernard Baruch said that he could absolutely predict stock market performance: It will go up and it will go down. Then it will go up and down. Up and down.

It's the trend line that's important. I know you understand that. I'm just trying to educate the leftists here.

Drago said...

We have sure come a long way when we have moved from Trump is crazy for claiming he was wiretapped all the way to the NYT "protect the lefty deep staters" article about how it was so reasonable for the dems to get a wiretap authorization to spy on Trump.

And at no point do the lefties ever admit their previous position.

Well, again, in their defense, all that stuff was, like, days ago, and history began anew this morning.

Since a lot of people don't seem to be aware of it, I will point out that there is no crime, federal, state or municipal, called "Colluding With Russians". That is not to say that it is not possible to collude with Russians in such a way as to commit a crime. Just that one can collude with Russians without committing a crime. In fact, as best I can make out, everyone in Washington DC spends about half of their time colluding with Russians. It's really pretty amazing. Those poor Russians must be worn to a frazzle.

Francisco D said...

Inga,

You like to use the word "obsessed."

I smell a big heaping pile of projection there. It's a favored defense of lefty fascists.

Drago said...

Inga: "Drago wants no part of it, because she’s as innocent as the driven snow."

Wow.

Feminist Inga moves from calling Stormy Daniels a liar to slut shaming her!!

Behold: Feminism!

Interesting, just the other day Stormy might just be the gal we all Had To Listen To and she was going to be on Kimmel!!

Today?

Well, the word has gone out to all the good little lefty "feminists" to slut shame her and call her a liar.

Drago said...

Jupiter: "Since a lot of people don't seem to be aware of it, I will point out that there is no crime, federal, state or municipal, called "Colluding With Russians"."

That's been the point all along.

Dershowitz has been screaming this at the top of his lungs forever.

And what did he get for it?

Inga's and LLR Chuck's pals actually called Alan Dershowitz a "nazi". Literally.

In precisely the same way Inga slut shames Stormy Daniels today.

Pay attention LLR Chuck. As soon as your lefty allies tire of you (and lets face it, that's inevitable isn't it?) they will do the same to you!

Mark said...

I notice that Axios has no comment section so that they cannot be called out on their BS.

The collusion in question could be Conspiracy to Violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. We won’t be privy to the results of the Mueller investigation until it’s over. We don’t know what he has.

I don't think that Drago's position is actually that a porn star is innocent, nor even that Trump is. He just disputes this particular alleged indiscretion.

And BTW, driven snow is noteworthy for purity, not "innocence". Get your cliches straight.

Mark said...

By the way, did you know that Axios is (Democrat/progressive) government-funded?? Or more specifically, funded by taxpayers (and I'm one) who have their money involuntarily taken from them by government to be given to this operation?

Drago said...

"The collusion in question could be Conspiracy to Violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act."

LOL

Mueller and his Deep State team are solely focused on creating an obstruction of justice charge out of thin air.

Literally due to potential "thought crimes" according to Dershowitz.

That's how absurd this is.

But we shouldn't listen to Dershowitz because the lefties tell us he is a Nazi.

And Nunes is a Russian Agent!! (that one was pushed on MSNBC this very morning!)

Mark said...

So much for a free and independent press.

Inga...Allie Oop said...

Three possible crimes that Mueller could discover occurred.

Conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act

Obstruction of Justice

Money Laundering

MaxedoutMama at 5:06. I don't think I can break through the "your mother wears combat boots -- No your mother wears combat boots" discussion. I think you've done a great job of laying out the corruption case. But where you aver (for example), "FISA violations are not in dispute," I just say you must only be reading people who agree with you. Go to the Washington Post or NYTImes and read the comments section on any story in this area, and you will see that these claims are in dispute. I'm strongly inclined to see things your way, but let's reserve the term "not in dispute" to describe things that are not in dispute.

Matt Sablan said...

So. We know McCabe met with Stzork. They discussed an insurance policy against Trump. Stzork changed his opinion on whether to believe Flynn. I'm willing to believe McCabe may have talked to people about changing what they thought about people they interviewed.

So, we start with Obama spied on the Republican Party, Clinton colluded with domestic and foreign parties, and the DNC denied the nomination to the Jew, while journolists from the NYT, WaPo, etc. carried out public lynchings and witch trials in a cover-up.

So much for a free and independent press

It never existed. The traditional and physical method of discerning a signal is through multiple, independent sources ("diversity"). While this does not confirm the character of the source, it does allow you to scientifically assess its effects.

Starting in the 20s we had real and serious Russian collusion in the government. As i actual agents in positions of high policy and others with access to the most sensitive infor ation like the pentagon map room. Even, perhaps, (or perhaps not) a vice president.

Wisconsin's own Sen Joe mccarthy tried to get to the bottom of it.

He is still loudly vilified, mostly by demmies.

Does anyone really think this is about Russian collusion bt trump?

"Should" is a poor constraint. And, of course de gustibus non est disputandum.

I suspect that a good number of billionaires are the sort of chap who in a different age would be some Pasha inclined to keep a substantial harem of wives and concubines.

Interesting stuff at Conservative Treehouse which is overlaying Strzok/Page texts with reporter Devlin Barrett reporting.

It would appear that the lefty/LLR fallback position that Strzok and Page were really okey dokey and just trying to hide their affair was started by a Barrett story where the likely unnamed sources were in fact.....Strzok and Page.

Gee, there certainly does seem to be some untensely affectionate and understanding relationships between the Deep State lefties and LLR Chucks beloved lefty media types.

Inga, dont bother going to that site. There wouldnt be enough slut shaming there to satisfy you.

“It's possible that Trump (or associates) did something wrong (for example making a deal with the Russians to support Trump's presidential run in exchange for reducing sanctions after Trump entered office) but that it was too hard to find convincing evidence that would hold up in a court without using made-up (notice I didn't use "trumped-up") evidence to convince the FISA court to allow a wiretap to collect the evidence against Trump associates. ”

Except that it doesn’t work that way. The purpose of FISA warrants is to protect national security, and not detect or document crimes. Fire that, you need a Wiretap Act warrant that conforms to the 4th Amdt. Crimes inadvertently discovered while employing a FISA warrant can be prosecuted. Otherwise, if advertency can be shown, then anything discovered through a FISA warrant is not admissible.

Was Fusion GPS pitching and funding journalists to run smear and propaganda campaigns for the Democrats? DiGenova says journalists were definitely paid by Fusion GPS. If it is true, he says, “it’s the complete antithesis of American journalism and the first amendment.” -- “Law enforcement is being corrupted and media is being bought,” portends badly he says. Noting the elite media’s supposed outrage about governmental power and institutions during Watergate, diGenova says “the only thing the American journalism community seems to care about now is destroying Donald Trump.”
