Comey is off his rocker. His tweet appears to express his fascination with the pert bottoms of FBI personnel in ill-filling chinos. Jim Harbaugh, call your office!

Team Mueller is morphing into the Obstruction of Justice phase now that they have cleared up the preliminaries of getting Flynn to plead guilty to lying about a non-crime, according the Andrew McCarthy.

That fellow Trump actually suggested that Comey move on from that lying Flynn, lying liar about non-crimes that he was and fired as he had been by Trump for lying to Pence, and get around to more honest fare, like confirming in public that Trump was not under investigation, which Comey had told him three times privately. And then Trump fired Comey, with a report in Trump's hand about how Comey screwed up the Hillary e-mails situation (written by Rod Rosenstein). Of course, Comey's real position was that Trump was not under investigation yet.

How could that not be obstruction of justice, say Comey and Mueller?

This is like a convoluted plot of a flailing political thriller written by the creative team of Comrade Detective.

Mueller and Comey better be careful. The people who elected Trump are not polite, passive limited government types like the original Tea Partiers. Remember how Dems rallied around that perv, Bill Clinton? It is going to be much more than that.

Amadeus 48 said...

Of course, that was "ill-fitting chinos", but ill- filling chinos kinda works, too.

Always love the way these political hack cowards at the top of the FBI always defend the themselves by stating how the agents are in harms way on a daily basis. None of these bags of dicks, Comey, Yates, Mueller's crew, ETC. have ever been in harms way, they are political players. The only harm they've got on the street is maybe chewing gum on the sole of their expensive shoes.

This reminds me of Rubio's "small hands" crack at trump. Remember Rubio was the sober adult in the room and trump was the undisciplined child. Rubio was sinking daily and threw out this jibe just to be noticed or thought relevant. It only served to diminish rubio's standing further and did nothing to stop the donald. If comey was trying to prove the fbi is a non partisan, professional, organization he should keep his trap shut and try to show some dignity (if he has any left)

Maybe Comey is gay, he has the gay gaze. Explains a lot

McCarthy at NR says Muller is going for "obstruction of justice".

You can't obstruct justice when you are the boss,
but the FBI can file a report stating a "process crime"

Which the media can celebrate.

Thus setting Trump up for impeachment. It doesn't have to go through to get in the way and assist the out party: just be a circus that discourages Rep voters.

That is why Comey Yates and Holder and the rest are tweeting madly about "independence" last two days - they were obstructed!

Alternative is the Logan act for running foreign policy during transition from election to swear in.

All politics. Real story is how politicized the "intelligence" agency has become.

Matt Sablan said...

"McCarthy at NR says Muller is going for "obstruction of justice"."

-- It would be stupid to do that since Comey admitted to Congress there was no obstruction. Unless Mueller wants to bag Comey for perjury as well.

Inga...Allie Oop said...

“You can't obstruct justice when you are the boss,”

Untrue. Richard Nixon.

"(The) President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under (the Constitution's Article II) and has every right to express his view of any case," Dowd told Axios.”

“Former Obama administration White House counsel Bob Bauer disputed Dowd's position.
"There is no express grant of immunity under the Constitution to protect the President who commits a felony," he told CNN. "Those who have argued for it have to cobble together their case primarily out of a concern about the debilitating effects of a President in legal trouble on the conduct of government. But they have a high burden to carry in claiming that the President charged with faithful execution of the law is above it. It simply contravenes basic understandings about the rule of law in the constitutional order -- as Richard Nixon learned in trying to withhold his incriminating tapes."

Have we found out yet who used Samantha Power's name to unmask all of those Trump transition officials since she has denied it? If that isn't political abuse of the Patriot Act, it kind of raises the question of what actually would be considered abuse.

sparrow said...

The FBI has questions around their integrity going way back, but if we restrict to post 1992: Richard Jewell, Waco, & Ruby Ridge all tainted the rep of the FBI.

Mueller and Comey are more recent than that, but even if they are new players the game certainly looks similar from the outside. The Comey whitewash of Hillary was so blatant that any claim of integrity now is simply not credible. I think he can reasonably be investigated for obstruction of justice for the server fiasco where they admitted to destroying evidence.

The elite can really get away with it, at least very often. They needn't be that careful as there is little will or effort to police them.

Matt Sablan said...

"Have we found out yet who used Samantha Power's name to unmask all of those Trump transition officials since she has denied it?"

-- Honestly, that makes me wonder if Flynn's unmasking was illegally done, since Powers didn't do it like we originally thought, but rather, someone impersonated her to order it -- does the FBI actually even have *legal* evidence against Flynn about what he said in that call besides what Flynn lied about?

If the Obama administration took the Logan Act seriously, what is Obama doing flying around behind Trump talking to the same leaders and publicly pronouncing Trump's policies "temporary"?

Judging by Flynn's deal, it looks like the Logan Act is the charge.

Adding to Ray's observations at 10:23: Indiscriminate grants of immunity by FBI/DOJ to Hillary email cronies; Comey pardons Hillary; FBI/DOJ withhold evidence and testimony from Congressional oversight committees; FBI ignores FOIA requests and lies about documentation re the "tarmac meeting." Corrupt!!

It's a pretty good fork though, Trump can't go after Obama without legitimizing charges against himself, except Trump was President-elect, and when Obama told the Iranians to hold out for a better deal, he was a candidate, and now he's a private citizen interfering with Trumps foreign policy in Asia, probably North Korea too.

Reposted from a previous thread:

The problem with obstruction of justice is that essentially means obstruction of the Deep State. Who gets to define “justice” here? It should be the President, but here, it seems to be a hybrid group of Dem operatives and government bureaucrats. They have been nailing people involved somewhat with Trump on process crimes. No underlying crimes, but rather lying to the FBI. Etc. Perjury traps. But the thing to remember is that Comey, Mueller, etc would likely not fare any better if the tables were turned, if the obstruction trap were set for them. Probably much worse. We know that Comey illegally leaked information to the MSM, and someone on Mueller’s team is doing the same. Those two, plus Rosenstein, McCade, etc, were involved in keeping the Russian involvement in the Uranium One deal away from Congress, and then the same cabal seems to have had some involvement in using the Trump Dossier to get a FISA warrant, which helped snare Manafort, and start the Russian Collaboration scandal meme, and maybe even helped pay for it. The FBI under Comey appears to have helped concoct the fake Dossier, known that it was false, that it was partly, at least coming from the Russians, and that it was the Dems and Crooked Hillary who were funding it, and then had the audacity to go to the FISA Court for a warrant to tap the Trump campaign for Russian involvement based on the Dossier they knew to be false, and helped, maybe, to create. These are the people who appointed the special prosecutor and are, essentially, deciding who to go after with these process crimes and “obstruction of justice”. It stinks to high heaven. None of them were even elected dog catcher, but are seemingly trying to take down a sitting President from within his own administration.

This is starting to piss me off. The FBI routinely lies to Congress, the courts, and the public. Someone in the FBI very likely purJURED themselves in applying for the FISA warrant based on the Russian sourced, fake, Trump Dossier. Someone lied when they said that they had no information on the guy on Mueller’s team who got reassigned for tweeting about Trump with his girlfriend. They lied to both the courts and Congress. They lied about what they knew about the tarmac meeting between Clinton and Lynch. Every time you hear about “stonewalling”, realize that it almost necessarily means at least obstruction of justice, if not blatant perjury.

Who are they to decide who has to tell the truth and who gets to lie? That they can lie through their teeth to get convictions for lying to them? We didn’t elect them. We elected Trump and. a Republican Congress. A country supposed governed with the consent of the governed, under siege by a group of unelected bureaucrats and functionaries.

Bruce Hayden said...

“Trump basically has 50% of his Nominees for Justice still not confirmed. 48 confirmed, 40 pending.”

My guess is that the reason for that is that Schumer and his caucus know that DoJ is the center of the Resistance. The longer they can keep those slots unfilled, the more damage the Deep State and their Dem enablers can do to the Trump Administration.

Andy McCarthy again:

1.) There is a great deal of misinformation in the commentariat about how prosecutors build cases.

2.) For all practical purposes, the collusion probe is over. While the “counterintelligence” cover will continue to be exploited so that no jurisdictional limits are placed on Special Counsel Robert Mueller, this is now an obstruction investigation.

3.) That means it is, as it has always been, an impeachment investigation.
