I didn't vote for Trump but I was absolutely euphoric for about a week after he won and Hillary lost. I've never felt anything like it. And I didn't even vote. Alternatively, my Euphoria did give me some insight into how Hillary voters were feeling.
As Walter alluded to above, this blog taught me that the line to Trump started in Wisconsin with the election of Scott Walker and the astounding protests to Act 10 and the recall efforts.
I'm not sorry I very reluctantly voted for Trump. Just about everything that's happened since his election has confirmed to me that I made the right decision.
Trump is a shitty human being and a shitty president. Hillary Clinton is a shitty human being and would have been a shitty president. There was no scenario where any rational person would feel "euphoria" over the outcome of the election. Before the results were in, before the polls even opened that day and the first vote was cast, the outcome was sure to be a dreadful new President-Elect. And so it was. And so it is. And so it will be.

That was amazing. I was out of the country on election night and didn't get to experience it. While I enjoyed sitting in a Sydney pub (more than one, actually) and discussing the results with the Aussies there, I really did miss being home watching these pricks get their comeuppance.
I'm a rationale person and I was euphoric when Hillary lost to Trump. I was closer to ecstatic when Barry punked her in the primary nine years ago. She's a vile creature and I take delight in her suffering. I'll do the same when the left is stupid enough to run her again in 2020, as it will mark only the third time in her life that she's "gone down".

I know I am not a good person. For a few months after the election, I took grest delight in reading the Twitter feeds of the most ardent HRC fans. I loved watching their smug self righteousness and confidence devolve into rage and self pity. Really, I only stopped because those folks tweet an awful lot, and it took too long to find their election night tweets.
I felt Euphoria. Trump might be shitty, but Hillary is a criminal.

Any delight I feel over watching these meltdowns is mitigated by sheer loathing toward these media-swine for their obviously dismissive attitude toward American voters.
Buwaya's observation concerning the state of American politics is all too accurate to my mind. And no, I have never sensed anything in Buwaya's posts to suggest he is wishing for it. I find my family and friends more harshly divided than ever, and less able to discuss political differences than ever. After Trump was elected, I had several people that I had been close friends with since high school quit speaking with me because I was insufficiently outraged at the election results. I graduated high school in 1974. My view is that it ultimately boils down to two incompatible visions of what the United States should be. On the one hand we have those with a commitment to individual liberty and no guarantee of life outcomes, and on the other hand we have those who desire a contemporary vision of social justice, without regard to whether it can be paid for. It seems to me you get to pick one these - freedom or equality. Boiling in the background, are unceasing war and unceasing deficit spending. A modest reading of history suggests those last two are unsustainable. So I am not too hopeful for happy resolution. And in the event of civil war, I will not be here to participate - I have no interest in shooting my family or friends.
I like coming here for the good vibes. People rising about their petty peeves and hatreds and exulting in their glorious electoral victories. Shiny happy people.

Oso, I was reading about the Unocal oil pipeline and Afghanistan the other day and, with a sinking heart, I realized that our military involvement in that region will never stop so long as we have 'interests' to protect and there will be more, not fewer, 'interests'. Those who are really in control of our policies are not those who are elected. We may go to the polls and vote but this is only a meaningless exercise.

Without equality, we have no freedom, but a minority of powerful and privileged ruling the powerless many. And who says we "can't afford" social justice? We've spent trillions in the 16 years from 9/11 to now on pointless, lawless, win-less (and unwinnable) "wars," (more like unprovoked attacks on expanding civilian populations of different nationalities). I don't know about you, but I think spending money on our own population is preferable by far to spending it on mass murder abroad and aggrandizement of the ruling elite's wealth and power.

Trump will win again regardless of the timidity and failure of the pitiful eGOP. Thankfully, Trump’s political fortunes do not depend on the eGOP posers in Congress. Us Trump supporters are fully aware of their opposition to the policies (most of which got them elected) of our duly elected POTUS. If they fail in Congress Trump will make them wear that failure like a necklace.
At this point I’m in more fear of a Trump assassination than of Trump losing an election in 2020. The MSM elimination rhetoric has been broadly hinting for someone to kill Trump since he was elected.

The biggest problem both political parties face is simply getting people to vote. More than half the country is so uninterested that they cannot even bother to drive half a mile to the local polling booth.
Oh, it's much worse than that. In CA our polling place was literally right across the street, and then (when we moved) a block and a half away. In OR, there aren't any polling places at all; you vote by mail. Which most Californians were also doing by that point; 3/4 of our local Marinites were already on "permanent absentee" status, which was heavily pushed by the state government.
We have made it so impossibly easy to vote that, yes, people simply can't be bothered. You can get registered via "motor-voter" whether you're a citizen or not. You have extended voting periods. You can vote on Sundays, and congregations will helpfully bus you to the polling place.
Me, I like the old system. Vote on a Tuesday, which isn't any religion's holy day so far as I know. Vote in person, unless you physically can't (e.g., if you are stationed abroad, or are in hospital or housebound due to injury). If you must vote absentee, have your ballot notarized, or whatever the equivalent is if you're on an aircraft carrier or the like. Never let anyone fill it out for you, unless you literally can't hold the pen. Register to vote well in advance (no "same-day").
And we might as well try checking citizenship, because motor-voter has inadvertently registered a lot of non-citizens. We should also check "snowbirds," kids at out-of-state schools, and the like. Voting twice is spectacularly easy. (So is voting a gazillion times; here in OR nearly a hundred ballots showed up last election cycle at the home of an eighty-year-old woman who had no idea where they were from. Oh, just a little mail snafu; nothing to see here.)
None of this is in any way difficult. We are massively concerned with those awful Rooskies "hacking" our elections, while we leave the doors to home-grown "hacking" wide open. I don't think an image of Jesus arm-wrestling the Devil has as much impact on a race as do 700 voters in NY who also voted in FL.

This was much more than political disappointment.
I have seen many elections, here and abroad.
What I have not seen is the extreme personal hatred the people have for each other, not merely the other sides politicians. Its now like everyone is Ahab, sworn to kill.
You have now two countries (in places, more), utterly incompatible, intermingled.
Its been building for a long time, and now its been kept white-hot for over a year. It cant be cooled off without cathartic violence.

It has been thus for quite some time, it was just that the right/conservatives were too nice and too polite (and in some cases too afraid) to make a big stink about it. Trump showed the right that it was OK to STOP being an eternal punching bag to the left.
It is like that old joke whereas the boy tells his mom that his little sister won't stop pinching him and the mom replies "well it is not her fault, she doesn't understand that it hurts". A little bit later the mom hears the girl cry out from the other room and goes rushing in. The boy tells the mom, "she knows now".
The left is learning that their "rules" hurt.

Looking back, I'm pretty certain that none of the other Republican candidates for the nomination could have beaten Hillary Clinton. Marco Rubio? Too nice. He's a good senator and a fine person, but I think the Democrats were salivating at the opportunity to have him face Hillary. Ted Cruz? Hard core enough to butt heads with the Hillary machine, but no charisma. I write that as a person who likes him and supported him -- with cash! -- until Trump clinched. Jeb? Hold on and let me get the bucket -- I'm going to puke. Main thing he did was undercut Rubio and suck up the money that should have gone to other moderate Republicans. His brother put him in charge of the 2000 campaign in his home state of Florida, and he quite nearly blew it. Great qualification to run for president. Kasich? He was stupid enough to stay in the race long after he was mathematically eliminated, so I presume he was there to block Cruz. I loved Carly, but I think she should stay out of politics from here on.
So in the end, the Democrat's nomination of Hillary led not only to Trump's election, but quite possibly to Trump's nomination. No sense bitching about Trump in the Oval Office when it's mostly your own fault, lefies.

I'm entirely rational, as I could see that either Hillary or Trump was a dreadful, lose-lose choice, a no-choice. Our system is so fucked that we have choices only among terrible and terrible candidates. Four to eight years of Trump will be as disastrous for the country as four to eight years of Clinton. What would have been glorious would have been to have had a choice among actually good and credible candidates. But there weren't any running.

I have a really serious problem with the modern day perversion of that that requires equality of outcome, which ensures equal rights are violated.
