Trump's supporters and critics agree that Trump's tweeting is going to destroy civilization...

... and Scott Adams tells you how that's going to happen.

ADDED: "Part of what makes things funny if you're from New York is the horribleness of them, the inappropriateness. So it's the inappropriate part that makes it funny, that makes it entertaining, that makes it worth doing. It's the inappropriate part. So when I see the President doing inappropriate things, I say to myself: Well, there's a guy from New York talking."

Jonah Goldberg ("Liberal Fascism," National Review, AEI):

It seems to me Trump’s biggest fans need to come to grips with two really difficult, but obvious, truths.

The first is that the president should walk away from Twitter. A new Fox poll says that 71 percent of Americans think the tweeting hurts his agenda. I’m amazed that number is so low. If you think his tweeting is brilliant and strategic, you’re arguing that it’s all part of his plan to annoy seven out of ten Americans with his tweets.

Now, to be fair, I think the more accurate analysis would be to say that the tweeting hurts more than it helps. Not every one of Trump’s tweets is the political equivalent of taking a sock full of quarters and smashing himself in the crotch, only some are. If he just tweeted within relatively sane and presidential parameters, it would be an asset for him. Feel free to discount my advice, and just listen to Victor Davis Hanson, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, or virtually every Republican member of Congress who understand that Trump’s tweets distract from his agenda, cause chaos among his staff, make it harder for Republicans to embrace him, and harden attitudes among Democrats and winnable voters.

If your response is “It got him elected!” simply take note that most tools lose their utility once they’ve accomplished their task. You need a hammer to build a birdhouse. If you keep hammering after it’s completed, you destroy your birdhouse. Surgeons use a scalpel to operate If they keep using it too long, they go to jail. And, if your response is “He needs to go over the heads of the liberal media!” bear in mind that a) the liberal media loves his tweets and b) he’s the president of the United States and has no end of ways to get his message out.

When we talk about Adams' political opinions it's easy for me to forget that he's a professional comedian. His timing, delivery, and content are like watching a comic strip write itself. Let me get this straight. Trump's Agenda was smooth sailing along through Congress, along with his nominations, all being hailed as the will of the people who elected him President...and then "Suddenly This Week" the will of the people is forgotten and Congress being too sensitive will not support anything that makes Trump's voters happy.

And He Did It To Himself. (repeat this mantra 1,000 times).

"Cuck"?!?

Look, Fem. I don't like these personal back and forths, and neither does Ann Althouse. You should stop it. But my own personal code on type faces is as follows. And I deviate from it at will.

I use italics when quoting a comment that I am replying to.

I use bold regular type on very rare occasions when I want to emphasize my own words. Like last evening, when I went out of my way to praise President Trump on the formation of the Presidential Commission on Voter Integrity. Making the point, to all of my Trump-loving detractors here, that I am not all anti-Trump all the time.

And, I often (not always) use bold-italics when I am quoting a published source, so as to avoid lots of quotation marks and sub-quotation marks. That is what I did above.

Now, knowing that my use of bold-italics bothers you, I will give serious thought to how I might be able to employ it more often!

Goldberg and the rest of the cucks that make up the so-called eGOP in Congress, and at NRO and other “conservative” outlets have shown us their true allegiance. There’s a long list: Krauthammer, George Will, Paul Ryan, etc.

I hold no grudge against the Democrats. THEY are doing what they’re supposed to do: Oppose the GOP. And the MSM have always been a bunch of vicious idiots who since the 50’s have been educated to hate America. Their behavior is at least understandable.

But the so-called “conservatives?” They have been unmasked and what do we find? Complete and total political treachery. My disdain and scorn knows no bounds. I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire. They’ll never get my readership again and I’ll never vote for any Congressional GOP cuck – unless of course Prez Trump tells me it’s OK in a tweet.

Goldberg and the rest want the tweets to stop because with those tweets at his disposal Trump has an unfiltered platform and the MSM, the cucks in Congress and the columnists cannot control the news as they have these many years. They MUST stop the tweets. He’s destroying the comfortable arrangement they all used to have with one another. Trump is revealing the charade behind the façade and THAT hurts where it counts.

Trump's ability to seize the initiative and drive the discussion are amazing. To do so, some of the time you have to be able to ignore what the other side is doing -- or you become reactive. Oh, and tweeting is not "just as bad" as having an intern blow you in the Oval Office.

So the press in on top of every goofy tweet of Trump just like they were perpetually outraged at Clinton getting blowjobs from an intern in the Oval Office? Is that it? Do you think a word count of outrage at Clinton's getting blow jobs from an intern approach the word count devoted to the horrors of Trump's' tweets? You believe that?

It should be noted that, as with Trump, you had a fair number of people on the Republican side (McCain, et al.) who did their best to sabotage his agenda. This is critically important as every prior republican, McCain is the best example, had to beg for decent coverage which was never forthcoming.

He’s still begging. In fact, judging by the frequency in which he is listed by the Left as an example of GOP-types who are reliably anti-Trump, he’s slowly getting back into their approval zone. Back where he was before he ran for POTUS and was their favorite Republican. It must hurt that Trump was able to do what McCain and Romney were not able to do, did not even come close to doing.

They played by the “rules,” as defined by academia, the intelligentsia, the MSM, the Democrats and generations of cuck rightwing pundits and cuck eGOP, and along comes this upstart outsider Trump who blows the internecine games they’ve been playing off the court. Making them seem … well … irrelevant!

They have to shut him up. He’s exposing them - their hypocrisy, their complacency, their empty promises - with every tweet. It’s like political sunburn. Listen to Mark Levin at this Fox News Specialists program yesterday. He says this at 11:11:

The Republican Party is a Progressive party. The Democrat Party is a radical Left party.

Levin doesn’t go quite far enough. For all intents and purposes the Democrats and the eGOP are two wings of same party. They argue back and forth, as factions in political parties will often do. Which means nothing in the long run.

Levin has a more realistic attitude than many but he is wrong in thinking that an old-style healthcare can be re-established. Those days are gone for good and single payer is inevitable. I don’t like it but eventually reality needs to be faced.

Therefore, I heartily approve of him continuing to tweet as he has, and will continue to ignore the tweets form him or from anyone else who tweets on Twitter.

And when I was a kid, saying we would someday have a President who tweets on Twitter would probably have earned me a trip to a shrink. The world of communications continues to change faster and faster.

Perhaps the vast majority of those respondents in the 71 per cent are merely going off of what they read in the Washington Post or on social media or on HuffPo, which states matter-of-factly that the tweets hurt, without any proof that is actually the case.

In which case, the figure is meaningless.
