"We debate everything, we challenge everything...."
ADDED: That was a live stream when I put it up, but it works as a recording now. You have to scroll to about -49:00 to get to the beginning of the appearance. Here's the NYT article about the speech. Excerpt from the end of the article:
The pro-Duda crowd at Krasinski Square, in which many waved American and Polish flags, serenaded reporters from both countries with periodic chants of “fake news.”Ah! Here's the full text of the speech. Let me excerpt the part I was trying to catch on the fly. He was talking about Western Civilization:
That came about an hour after Mr. Trump tag-teamed with [Polish president, Andrejz Duda] in a transnational denunciation of journalists who write negative stories about them...
What made Mr. Trump’s sermon against the mainstream news media different this time was that Mr. Duda’s center-right party, Law and Justice, proposed restricting the media’s access to the Parliament last year. The government backed down after street protests.
“They have been fake news for a long time,” Mr. Trump said of CNN when asked about the tweet, adding that the network had been covering him in “a dishonest way.” “We don’t want fake news,” he added, as Mr. Duda nodded vigorously in agreement.
The world has never known anything like our community of nations. We write symphonies. We pursue innovation. We celebrate our ancient heroes, embrace our timeless traditions and customs, and always seek to explore and discover brand-new frontiers. We reward brilliance. We strive for excellence, and cherish inspiring works of art that honor God. We treasure the rule of law and protect the right to free speech and free expression. We empower women as pillars of our society and of our success. We put faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, at the center of our lives.
And we debate everything. We challenge everything. We seek to know everything so that we can better know ourselves....
And if we fail to preserve it, it will never, ever exist again. So we cannot fail.

Wow, you could here them in the street chanting USA!
Ronald who?
It said "just concluded " when I tried to watch.
Drumph attains Churchillian stature. Like Winston did in May and June 1940, he is restoring the roar of the British Lion and is showing its claws.
Our Catholic First Lady Melania must have felt at home again. She seemed to enjoy showing off her American husband.

How did Trump get elected? Here's a couple of fun facts I stumbled across last night:
-Spring 2016: An all-white anti-Christian hate group from Madison Wisconsin went after Itawamba county Mississippi because they have a framed printout of the 10 commandments on a wall in a corridor in their country courthouse in Fulton, Mississippi.
November 2016: Itawamba country election results: Trump 87%, Hillary 12%, other 1%
Now, Mississippi and Fulton were going to vote for Trump no matter what, but 87% in this county is pretty impressive.
Oh, a follow-up. What replaced it? A larger framed printing of our nation's motto: "IN GOD WE TRUST". It was fun reading the Atheists web site about this. They busted a nut.
Wow. Four responses already and nothing bybir about our special person
NB:He started with Copernicus as the ideal of real Science seeking the truth, and not another ideology for political Global Governance based on mandatory Pollution Mythologies.
"Does the West have the will to survive?"
Muslim groups in Malaysia and Indonesia with more than 29 million members call for boycott of Starbucks because of its support for LGBT rights
Let me get out my victim hierarchy chart to see what I think about this. I know gay trumps people of color, but what about Muslim people of color?
Interestingly, the Joe and Mika Show and panelists are struggling with a way to condemn Trump for making a soaring speech affirming his support for NATO.
They speculated that his advisors (Tillerson) have busted down the door and taken The Orange Haired Crazy Clown hostage. But just wait until he Twitters again and ruins everything. Mika is certain that Trump is totally insane.
The rest of them say Trump was perfect today, but he cannot possibly stay perfect as he faces the Scylla and Charybdis of the Norks. Apparently easily defeating Circe of Morning Joe fame is not enough for this Odysseus.
Amazing, isn't it, that the people who had Communism shoved down their throats at the end of WWII want nothing to do with it, are fervently pro-American and like Trump.
The Poles are deplorable.

I wonder what Mika's Dad would make of all this.
Exile...its like why do former communist nations erect monuments to President Reagan? Its almost like they know something that western SJW don't.

Thank you. It was worth listening to. I liked all of it, but the part that touched my own situation the most was the blast against bureaucracy. I hope he is successful in reforming our deep tentacled unelected overlords. They are stifling us with their rules.
Lech Walesa in da house!
I would bet that speech was influenced by Bannon. That is his kind of rhetoric, although it seems to be Trump's as well.
Will the Left counter with 'Polak' jokes?
Wow. It feels really good to have a President stand up and praise Western Civilization. I'd almost forgotten what that was like.
It's getting harder to remember why I felt like my vote last November was for the "least worst" of the two options.
Will the Left counter with 'Polak' jokes?
Not if they want to recapture West Allis and Cudahy.
"The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive..."
This confused the NY Times reporter, who added:
"...he said, employing the same life-or-death language as his inauguration speech, which promised a war against the 'American carnage' of urban crime."
What an odd way to report a clear statement by a U.S. President on foreign soil, about a pressing global issue. You see the connection: Trump is whipping up fear of Muslims the way he whipped up fear of poor black kids.
This tactic answers the question: No, the West does not have the will to defend itself.
Don't confuse one NY Times reporter for "the West".
The same West that gave us Obama and Merkel has given us Trump and Brexit.
Ralph Peters, a die-hard Never Trumper, loved Trump's speech in Poland.
"Best speech an American president has given in Europe since Ronald Reagan."

If I remember correctly, someone on Ford's staff in '76 unwisely made a joke about Polacks picking mushrooms by the light of the Allen-Bradley clock. I thought it was funny, but it was taken by South Siders as another sign that the GOP had nothing but contempt for plain blue collar folks with last names ending in "ski."
How times have changed.
This is what leadership looks like.
Where is Chuck to remind us that Trump didn't write that and therefore deserves none of the credit for making the speech?
After all, President Kasich knows English and could have read the same piece of paper.
I watched some of it and thought God what a drag it is to be president. At 7AM our time, Trump had to be up and alert giving a speech to the Polish people.
And presidents have to do this stuff over and over. If I were president, I'd be more like Althouse and almost never go anywhere.
Haven't read all the stories yet, but I get the sense/easily predict that they fail to point out that O's first foreign policy accomplishment was to screw the Poles.
Which makes the usual lefty encomia to O's global stature (Peace Prize! reset! I-am-a-global-citizen of Berlin! Be-nice-to-Muslims in Cairo! Peace in our time with Iran!) that much harder to take.
Don't confuse one NY Times reporter for "the West".
Fair enough. But it does reflect the opinion of the elite. I'm not sure the West can survive battling both modern day barbarians and its own elite.
Where is Chuck to remind us that Trump didn't write that and therefore deserves none of the credit for making the speech?
Chuck is making reasonable and thoughtful comments today--based on the several threads I've read. Epiphany? Holy Spirit? I hope so.

Me too!
Excellent speech. It goes to the moral and intellectual enlightenment that set us free from mortal gods and collective will, and normalized striving for reconciliation of imperatives and self-improvement.
We empower women as pillars of our society and of our success.
I would characterize it as recognition that men and women are equal and complementary. Another "artifact" of our traditional religious mores, or a semi-secular reconciliation of moral, natural, and personal imperatives.
Then there was Barry in a country he once called home Or just spent some formative years in saying shite on 7/4.

Not mentioned in that speech: "war", "death", "urban crime".
Beautiful speech. I was surprised at the amount of religious content. The Brits will jump on that, I'm sure. Surprised, but gratified. God Bless you, President Trump.
At some point we will find out ow much of this is Trump and how much was whomever prepared the speech. Trump hasn't ever been a person of faith nor an ideologue. But I think he understands what truly makes the country great is the people, their beliefs, and not the government.
The World Leftist Media will make sure that few people see Trump delivering this wonderful speech. If this doesn't change minds, nothing will. I began to like Trump when I started finding his actual speeches on YouTube rather than relying on print and other Media for an analysis.
@Achilles: If Trump spoke it, it is him, no matter who wrote it!
Unlike Obama, Trump has Christian support and a claim to Christian roots. It is likely that Christian values will display prominently in his presidency.
Meanwhile, the leftmedia and DNC chums are likely to respond to this speech with "Deplorable Polack" jokes and charges of "ethnocentrism" and "racism."
That part of his speech about Western Civ. is from a true Liberal Arts Education. And according to Scott Adams, the next step after saying Trump is incompetent, is for everyone who was Never-Trump to begin to remember they predicted he could get things done. And this will happen suddenly.
I can't wait to see Melania proudly take Donald over to see her Slovenia. Then they will visit France on Bastille Day. Our Melania's fluency in 5 languages should come in handy.
I've seen media commentary about the "nationalistic" flavor of the speech, and they don't like it. Nationalism is fascist and racist, isn't it? And American nationalism is isolationist, right? This WAS a nationalist speech, but the nationalism it celebrated was, primarily, Polish nationalism. And it also celebrated the nationalism of the nations of Europe. Trump is presenting a nationalism that isn't American jingoism, a nationalism that respects and honors the national character of all friendly nations.
Think about this: Could you give a speech today celebrating French nationalism in France? German nationalism in Germany? Belgian nationalism . . . well that's just silly. Trump is throwing down the gauntlet before he gets to the international summit. Unless Europe becomes a "nation", which seems increasingly unlikely, then the defense of European civilization will depend on the rebirth of the Europe of nations -- and that also seems unlikely. As Trump might tweet, "sad".
Breitbart has a great piece about The Donald Doctrine being the next Churchill announcing we will fight for Civilization. Of course Winston's speeches were all directed at defeating the Evil German Man that planned to murder all the inconvenient people in Europe...and then start on Roosevelt's Jew lovers, next.
And we debate everything. We challenge everything.
He doesn't debate. Ad hominem is all he does/can do.
As for challenging things, yes - he does hate conventional reality and the known facts undergirding it.
The Poles are deplorable.
You should see how many of them it takes to screw in a light bulb.
First Donald will bring the coal and rub it on its base.
I was born in Chicago, the second largest Polish city in the world.
Many Polish or part-Polish friends, lovers and my husband's first wife (named after the national artist of Poland whose monumental painting of the raising of the Siege of Vienna, when Poland saved the West from the Turks, hangs in the Vatican).
I've been a cranky rearguard libertarian for 50 years, living in deep blue enclaves and trying not to despair.
The transcript alone brought me to tears.
Hey Tootless: "Polish jokes" became unacceptable when Solidarity and the Polish Pope stood up against Soviet domination. Go stand in the corner.
Toothless, ya got nuttin, do ya. Nuttin. It was A good day for Trump and you know it.
"I watched some of it and thought God what a drag it is to be president. At 7AM our time, Trump had to be up and alert giving a speech to the Polish people.

This is what Trump was referring to when he said (paraphrasing) "presidentin' is hard". You are tied to timetables that you have very little control over.
Obama grew very old in the 8 years he spent as president; as probably most recent presidents did, but it was very noticeable with Obama.
Trumps speeches are pretty good. They seem natural and uncompromising. Something that a lot of Americans relate to. The sloganeering of trump is far superior to the Democrats, which always begged a question ('Forward' to where? 'Yes we can!' Yes we can what?). 'Make America Great Again' has an implicit goal. Of course most slogans are whimsical, and not necessarily a reflection of policy or action.
I recall some 'right wing' commentary about being number one. The left and Europe fright to snark it by talking about number 2 and rankings. Demonstrating that they really don't get it.
