Tonight I had the misfortune of watching on PBS the Ken Burns Documentary on our national park system.
It started off with an interview of an old Native American Woman, one of the last survivors of the tribe that was driven off permanently from Yosemite Valley in order to make it safe for the Whites of our Manifest Destiny.
Apart from her, there were almost NO visitors of color, whether black, red or brown to be seen in the slides of various national parks, not counting the occasional park ranger or other gummint employee. Almost all the persons pictured were White, including the White presidents who founded these White country clubs for the exclusive use of White Amerikans.
Still, during the show I was bombarded by dumb statements like that of how these parks and their flora and fauna are acquired and preserved (at great expense) for the benefit of all Amerikans of whatever class, race or color.
It's ironic that among the visitors to Yosemite, in particular, there are nowadays myriads of non-citizen, non-tax-paying Asians. But if Trump has his way, we'll manage to drive out them and the few Latino citizen visitors that still pollute Yosemite.
The true message of the documentary is that this country appears to have been built and maintained on pure lies, like that of Manifest Destiny itself.
For a story that is suppose to be a "nothing burger," it seems that every week there is a new bizarre twist to the story.
Can you imagine the outrage from Ann's Althouse Hillbillies if Chelsea, her husband, and John Podesta had met with "well connected" Russian nationals looking for dirt on candidate Trump?
jimbino notes (not for the first time that Apart from her, there were almost NO visitors of color, whether black, red or brown to be seen in the slides of various national parks, not counting the occasional park ranger or other gummint employee.

Except for brain-dead Trump Hillbillies, everyone, including most Republicans in Congress, think only the surface has been scratched on the unraveling Russian scandal.

Clinton and the left don't have to look for dirt. They create dirt out of thin air. They created dirt on Mitt Romney. That'll tell you all you need to know about how the left operates.

It does seem that the NYT is trying to build momentum, drip, drip, dripping a new story about Donald Jr. every day. I'm not sure why they think he'd be the easiest Trump to bring down. Maybe they've watched too many Godfather movies?
The residual Obama boom continues. Trump has not gotten anything done including his tax cuts. I am happy that we continue to highlight what a big deal Trump made about breaking DJIA 20,000. It seems to have now stalled out, no? When it falls back below twenty there will be no way but to declare that Trump is as phony as a three dollar bill.

Unscripted dialog dialog between Senator John McCain and Donald Trump, Jr.:
Senator John McCain: I can get you those Electoral votes in Arizona. The price will be concessions on immigration. [sneers] Mr. Tee-Rump. Donald Trump, Jr.: Now, immigration is a national security issue. Is that right? Senator John McCain: That's right. Donald Trump, Jr.: So why would we ever consider bargaining that away? Senator John McCain: Because I intend to squeeze your nut sack. I don't like your kind of people. I don't like to see you come down to this nice city with your oily hair, dressed up in those silk suits, passing yourselves off as decent Americans. I'll do politics with you, but the fact is that I despise your masquerade, the dishonest way you pose yourself. Yourself and your whole fucking family.
The DJIA remained below 19,000 in the six months before the election and has zoomed to almost 21,500 in the eight months since. There's no Obama residual -- since it was previously flat -- and there's no stalling out either, unless you think an almost 20% gain since the election is a slow down. Lulz
Can you imagine the outrage from Ann's Althouse Hillbillies if Chelsea, her husband, and John Podesta had met with "well connected" Russian nationals looking for dirt on candidate Trump?
What makes you think they didn't? It would be par for the course if they did, but the absence of evidence -- especially when no one appears to be looking for evidence -- is far from evidence of absence.
Fresh new episodes of Game of Thrones will start airing this Sunday. What bliss to be alive at this moment........I just re-watched the last two seasons. I thought I'd only watch one episode a night, but I started doubling up and finished the two seasons in six or seven nights. They're just as good the second time around, even if you know what's going to happen next.......One quibble: Upon rewatching, some of the sword fights look rehearsed and choreographed. They don't look that way the first time, but that's how they look the second time around. Also, I feel the decapitations should have more arterial blood spurts. A decapitation without arterial blood spurts is like an egg without salt.
@jimbino, in the last neighborhood where I lived we had a bunch of city dwellers move into new homes. They were freaked out to see the rats running around the trees (squirrels) and the giant rats digging in their yards (woodchucks) and predators running around loose (foxes) during the day. How anyone can mistake a chipmunk for a rat is beyond me, but someone did. Lord only knows what those city folks would have done if they'd known that deer come by to eat their azaleas and that the reason for HOA regulations about putting trash cans in at night had to do with raccoons.
City folks going camping in a place without hot running water or showers or a pizzeria that delivers, but with wolves and bears? I don't think so.
Please support the claim from your 9:53 comment before you move the goalposts anymore, Once. Or just admit that it was total crap and you have no interest in a good-faith discussion.
There's one scene where someone tells Cersei that she can't kill all her enemies. Cersei gives that sinister little half smile and doesn't reply......There's more foreshadowing and complexity to the scripts than you might think.
Fabi, I of course am speculating. Do you really think I have inside intel about all of the members of the Republican conference? My speculation is based on the fact that Republicans in Congress are not publically defending Trump. In fact many are doing the opposite. Also, Drudge is on a daily basis is pushing the "Pence is distancing himself from Trump" story.
If you don't yet understand Jacksonian Manifest Destiny, try asking the Japanese, the Koreans and the Chinese why they still fear it. They were the reason why we wanted to take Pacific Ocean natural Harbors for Naval Bases at San Diego, Monterey, San Francisco and Seattle, and finally The Philipines.
Thanks for admitting that, Once -- greatly appreciated. I don't blame anyone for not defending Trump. There is zero evidence of any collusion after months of investigation. Plenty of innuendo and unnamed sources, but nothing factual at all has been presented. Why bother with something so speculative? That's my take.
Fabi, Donald Jr. just confessed (after obfuscating for 36 hours) that he set up a meeting at the Trump Tower with a connected Russian national who said she had dirt on Clinton. He invited Kushner and Trump's campaign manager. Do you really believe Donald Trump didn't know? Russia is not a friend of the U.S. They are a hostile power. But the Trump's are seeker their help to swing our country's presidential election?
If the Clinton's did this the Althouse Hillbillies would be screaming bloody murder, and rightfully so.
Fabi, that is why there is a special council investigating. Also, the Republican controlled House and Senate are investigating it to see if they corrupted our election.
Why doesn't Trump want the investigations to run their course? If there is nothing to hide, he should welcome having his name cleared.
"If what you said is true, which law did he break? Is it illegal to meet with a "connected Russian national" -- whatever that means?"
"Well, yes...... Ten lawyers queried, including academics, former prosecutors, and defense attorneys familiar with federal election and hacking laws, cite more than a dozen federal statutes that prosecutors could use to charge someone who collaborated with Russian intelligence to influence the 2016 election.
“There is a whole plethora of areas of potential criminal liability,” says Tor Ekeland, a defense attorney who has represented clients in high-profile hacking cases in federal and New York courts. “To say that there is none is just willful ignorance in the service of propaganda.”
Renato Mariotti, who prosecuted cybercrime and financial fraud cases as an assistant US attorney in Chicago, says a person who encouraged the release of emails stolen from an American could face prosecution for aiding and abetting computer fraud.* “You have to know of the criminal activity and take affirmative steps to help it succeed,” he says.
Attorneys also say that a person who colluded with hackers should worry about being charged for wire fraud, a broad law that prohibits the use of communications technology, including the internet, with the intent to commit fraud. They also note that a colluder could face prosecution for violating copyright, trade secrets, and even espionage laws.
What charges special counsel Robert Mueller might eventually level depends on specific circumstances and evidence collected. But laws against abetting or conspiring to commit computer fraud or identity theft and against soliciting campaign aid from foreign nationals offer two potential areas under which prosecutors could seek indictments, the lawyers say. Prosecutors also could use broader federal statutes related to honest services fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to bring charges against anyone who colluded, according to the attorneys.
Conspiracy laws offer prosecutors a widely used tool and are often faulted by civil liberties advocates because they allow prosecutors to indict people for a role in crimes they did not personally execute. But plenty of these laws do exist, and former prosecutors do not have to stretch their imaginations to consider ways Mueller and his team can possibly apply them in the Russia investigation.
“There are thousands of people in jail for colluding,” Ekeland says. “It’s another word for conspiracy.”"
WASHINGTON —Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email.
Mr. Goldstone’s message, as described to The New York Times by the three people, indicates that the Russian government was the source of the potentially damaging information. It does not elaborate on the wider effort by Moscow to help the Trump campaign. There is no evidence to suggest that the promised damaging information was related to Russian government computer hacking that led to the release of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails.
But the email is likely to be of keen interest to the Justice Department and congressional investigators, who are examining whether any of President Trump’s associates colluded with the Russian government to disrupt last year’s election. American intelligence agencies have determined that the Russian government attempted to sway the election in favor of Mr. Trump.
The cocksucking Lefty liars who have lied all along are lying again. And no one is surprised. Kremlin-connected? No proof of that has been presented. Kremlin-connected? Like Hillary and the millions she received for the Clinton Foundation and her campaign? Like the Podesta brothers?
If the Clinton's did this the Althouse Hillbillies would be screaming bloody murder, and rightfully so.
You mean if Hillary had taken tens of millions of dollars from "connected" Russians?
I am sure that you would have been screaming bloody murder about that, if you had only known before the primaries, and would have nominated somebody else, amIright?
(1) When we lived on the east coast, it was always a treat to walk to the Bay, a mile down the road, and smell the beach roses that flourished there. Nothing beats that scent mingled with the tang of salt air.
(2) I do not get the ecstasy that accompanies GoT watching.
Third thing: Why is it news that someone is trying to help a candidate win an election? I assume that Candidates meet with all kinds of shady characters in order to find dirt. The breathless links on my Facebook page suggests that my friends are aghast at this.
Is anyone in Madison ever outside lately? Mein Gott the mosquitoes are everywhere.
I'm dying to know what possible "dirt" the Russians could have found on Hillary Clinton that we didn't already know about or couldn't have figured out for ourselves.
When asked how Trump Jr. seemed to have the impression that she had information about the Democratic National Committee, she responded:
“It is quite possible that maybe they were longing for such an information. They wanted it so badly that they could only hear the thought that they wanted.”
Trump Jr. has confirmed that the meeting occurred, saying in a statement to The New York Times that he attended "a short introductory meeting" with the lawyer, where the topic of conversation was primarily about adoption. - NBC News interviews of the "connected Russian."
I am thinking that the bolded applies to the people who want a smoking gun so badly they can almost taste it. Notice that the actual text of the email has not been made public. Just characterizations of it.
I wonder if she offered him tens of millions of dollars for his campaign slush fund....
De gustibus. Some people relish the Russian nothingburger and take exquisite delight in preparing the trimmings. Did this Russian lawyer stay at aTrump hotel and, if so, is this a violation of the emoluments clause? Important news at eleven and endless boring discussions to follow...... How can anyone take an interest in American politics when GOT is on. Last season one of the villains was served his sons in a meat pie just before having his throat cut. You won't get that kind of primal satisfaction watching the Trump collusion story play out........I think it would be kind of cool if Trump invited Hillary to the Trump Tower for a make up dinner. Halfway through her empanadas, he could tell her that the meat was carved from the flesh of Chelsea. I bet the folks at CNN would be even more outraged if Trump did something like that.

Funniest moniker I've heard in the last week or so was CNN's Chris Cuomo being labelled Fredo.

Halfway through her empanadas, he could tell her that the meat was carved from the flesh of Chelsea. I bet the folks at CNN would be even more outraged if Trump did something like that.
Maybe, given that it was well known at the time that the Russians had given Hillary millions of dollars, that the Russians knew a few things.... Nah!
Any of that Wikileaks stuff proven untrue, BTW? Why is it such a crime that Americans should know the truth? That's what I don't get.
I bet the folks at CNN would be even more outraged if Trump did something like that.
How would you be able to tell?
"And I would have. gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those meddling Russians!" - Hillary
My profound theory based on lifelong observation:
There are really only two kinds of people in the world. Those who put their grocery carts away and those who don't.
I do not get the ecstasy that accompanies GoT watching.
Have you watched any of the 9th episodes?
