Posing at the White House.
Photo posted at Facebook by Shemane Nugent.
More, from Sarah Palin, here.
I guess Trump must think it's funny to keep that portrait of Hillary hanging there. Lord knows what is said in its vicinity. If that portrait could talk....
PORTRAIT OF HILLARY: I'm crooked!
TRUMP: That's my line!
ADDED: I'm thinking they keep the portrait hanging crooked to get the same joke started again and again.
NEW GUEST TO THE WHITE HOUSE: You know the portrait is crooked.
TRUMP: A very accurate portrait, yes, I agree.
NEW GUEST #2: I feel the urge to straighten that portrait.
TRUMP: I've never heard of anyone wanting a portrait to be less lifelike.

TRUMP: So am I!
She needs some more airpower to defend Alaska from Mother Russia.
Crooks do need to be exposed.
One doesn't wear a hat inside the White House.
That's funny sh*t!
Inga - how?
Did he set up a private server to stuff his family foundation coffers?
How dare those horrible deplorables make mockery of the great queen so openly!
Is that Kid Rock? Haha haha Our Coastal Media Elite just had their heads collectively explode.
Remind us again Ann how Republicans somehow have the moral high ground and aren't politically immature and poor winners, etc.
I had to do the reverse-the-subjects mental exercise.
So if, in a future Administration, the official portrait of Donald Trump is placed somewhere, and official visitors are allowed to pose in front of it for joke-photo purposes, how would I feel?
I don't think this is good precedent, or good behavior. But Donald Trump has been behaving badly for about 55-60 years. Jokes are okay; jokes inside the White House, using official portraits as props, is not a good idea.
Althouse Lefties haven't taken their daily shit on the sidewalk, yet. Cranky.
Ann wrote less than 24 hours ago...
"Republicans don't act like that. I mean, maybe some Republicans somewhere do, but mostly they're better sports about winning and losing. It makes them look more responsible and more respectful of democracy."
Chuck is just full of shit.
But of course Ann is all about "cruel neutrality." She is because she says so.
"Inga - how?"
Leave Inga alone with her dreams.
Did the Obamas super glue that painting to the wall? Is that why it hasn't been taken down.
Could be the photo -- but the picture looks hung crooked to me, and that bugs me.
Here's how Salon.com framed the visit:
"Rocker Ted Nugent, who once referred to Hillary Clinton as a “devilbitch,” visited President Donald Trump in the White House on Wednesday night while accompanied by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and professional terrible rapper Kid Rock."
Funny sh*t.
"Who ya callin bitch, bimbo?"
Trump while running for president said over and over that if elected he would personally see to it that Hillary would be prosecuted and sent to prison.
Ann never found fault with that. Or Trump's taunts of "Lyin' Ted" and "Little Marco" and "Crooked Hillary". Republican voters ate that shit up.
But Ann can somehow claim that Republicans are more high minded.
You are a joke Ann.
"So if, in a future Administration, the official portrait of Donald Trump is placed somewhere, and official visitors are allowed to pose in front of it for joke-photo purposes, how would I feel?"
If it's Chelsea Clinton's administration they will charge donors to take funny pictures in front of the Trump painting, and they'll have a line out the door.
I guess Trump must think it's funny to keep that portrait of Hillary hanging there
Did Trump put the portrait up or was it already there? If it was already there, I can just imagine all the hit pieces that would be written about Trump being thinned skinned if he had it removed.
Lefties are useless cocksuckers. This belongs on every thread.
Who's idea was it to make her vice president?
After Obama, anything goes.
So......who back in 1978 thought that Ted Nugent would be an honored guest in the White House and a symbol of the Conservative Right?
Raise your hands.....Anyone????
ps. Sorry for the bad video. I was going for his look and sound back then . I do like the fox tail on his rear end :-D
At leas they aren't standing next to a cardboard replica of Hillary and groping her tits.
What Bushman said. I want to know who hung it. I'd be very surprised if it was Trump.
Once written, twice... compares a little fun with rioting.
Dear Lefties: We won.
Hillary: "I lost the election because misogynist men felt threatened by a powerful woman."
Sarah: "Me too!!"
Original Mike--Ann knows very well that those rioters in Berkeley don't identify as Democrats. But if she wants to make them the responsibility of the Dems then she should demonstrate "cruel neutrality" and make radical anti abortion people who shoot up medical clinics the responsibility of Republicans.
If Mr Trump's tenure does nothing more than force people to recognise that we (the media, the commentariat, legislators, the donor classes, campaign staffs, the lot of us-- although not all of us) have done a disservice to the Republic by making the elected chief magistrate into a pretended royal sovereign, it'll have been a success. Why shouldn't DJT poke fun at Mrs Clinton? they were rivals for an elected political office, not candidates for National Savior and Vicegerent of God.
The House Freedom Caucus has about two month to grow out of adolescence, put down their toys, and carpe diem. If they don't, they're screwed, the Republican Party is screwed, and Trump is hamstrung.
Purity sucks.
Once - Rioters in Berleley, rioters in D.C., rioters at Middlebury, ...
Ted Nugent, member of the NRA board of directors, grinning in the White House. Brought a smile to my face.
Can nationwide reciprocity be far behind?
I don't know why Inga is upset. It's not like the portrait has been replaced with her mug shot.
"Original Mike--Ann knows very well that those rioters in Berkeley don't identify as Democrats."
Typical left-wing bullshit. The "rioters" support Democrats and hate Republicans. Not only that, but Democrats either support the "rioters" or refuse to criticize/attack them.
You don't get the play the "don't blame us- they're not Democrats" game. They're on your side and you like them. You are them, they are you.
"I don't know why Inga is upset."
I'm not upset. Why do you think I am? I think Trump is in fact crooked and I'm not saying so because I'm "upset".
The rioters at Berkeley would go tomorrow if the College administrators took certain steps. They refuse to do so, because they silently support what they are doing, namely shutting down Conservative, non-Left-wing speech.
Almost every Commie takeover was preceded by some Liberal/Socialist President or Prime minister claiming to be a non-Communist but refusing to take steps to control Left-wing violence. See Russia 1917, Hungary 1918, Spain 1936, Chile 1972. Or even the French Revolution which rapidly went from being run by Liberals like Lafayette to Reign of Terror.

Photo was published on a personal Facebook account, right?
Why assume no stupid pics have ever been taken in White House before?
As a previous First Lady, I think her portrait is pretty much going to be up there forever.
"But if she wants to make them the responsibility of the Dems then she should demonstrate "cruel neutrality" and make radical anti abortion people who shoot up medical clinics the responsibility of Republicans."
-- That's not a fair comparison, since people on the right routinely chastise and spoke out against those radical shooters, whereas people on the left say things like, "Well... it's only punching Nazis. That's not bad."
Not only that, but you don't see conservative people in government stepping aside to let it happen, or conservative campuses shrugging their shoulders and saying, "Well, sometimes violence just breaks out, what'cha gonna do about it?"
The problem isn't just with the antifa people throwing small explosives, smoke bombs and bricks at people--it is with the entire culture where the left has let this go because, hey, they're just punching Nazis.
Rcocean-- then take responsibility for anti-abortion extremists who shoot up medical clinics. They support Republicans and hate Democrats afterall. Republicans also should take responsibility for the Klan as well. David Duke supported Trump.
What institutional support have Republicans given the anti-abortion extremists who shoot up medical clinics?
"See Russia 1917..."
United States, 1860 with James Buchanan.
Actually, I think the portrait was Obama's attempted joke. Probably assumed that Trump would hate it but not dare move it. Instead it's been made into a prop for gags. (I would have said gag prop, but with the Clintons gagging has so many connotations that you have to be careful.)
Palin seems to be going for the upscale trailer trash look. It's good on her. Palin would have been the female President Donald Trump. But mysogyny.
Once Written... has put it into overdrive in attempting to play the "moral equivalency" card, or somesuch. But how many selfies and other pics popped up online of "sore winners" during the Obama administration flipping off the portrait of GWB?

We know without a doubt Hillary is a grifter, criminal and traitor aided and abetted by Obama. There is a difference between thinking and knowing.
Help me out here. How many shootings at abortion clinics have NOT been condemned by the right?
Note that at least one university has surrendered to the heckler's veto, uninviting Ann Coulter because they can't ensure her safety.
If you can't ensure someone's safety who disagrees with your campus, you have failed as a university. What does this tell any conservative or non-far left people on campus? Speak up, and you may be silenced, violently. And the university won't even try or care.
[I don't even particularly care for Coulter. But, this is a useful example of how the left acquiesces to the violent people to give them cover to continue being violent. Instead, the university should hold the event, with police and security in attendance, and let it be known any disruption will be met with legal and academic discipline.]
Compare the top of the picture frame to the lines in the wall.
It isn't crooked. (It helps to know a little bit about photography to spot it.)
Funny how we all get it...
There's precedent for Presidents to express themselves with White House decor.
This reminds me of the Fearless Girl/Raging Bull juxtaposition.
"But how many selfies and other pics popped up online of "sore winners" during the Obama administration flipping off the portrait of GWB?"
Didn't need to. Obama himself just blamed everything on Bush.
"But how many selfies and other pics popped up online of "sore winners" during the Obama administration flipping off the portrait of GWB?"
At least one regarding Obama people and Hillary. Ben Rhodes and his buddy grabbing Hillary's cutout. Maybe it's just that people of all parties tend to hate her?
Speaking of sore winners, we could dig out the photo of Jon Favreau feeding a longneck beer to the Hillary cut-out in 2008.
Obama himself just blamed everything on Bush.
That's misogynistic!
Remind us again Ann how Republicans somehow have the moral high ground and aren't politically immature and poor winners, etc.
Remind us again, Once Written, how lefties who refer to commenters as "hillbillies" has any room to speak about others being politically immature...
etc...

Note the bolded passage...

Hence, my only concern in all of this; the use of the White House in this photo-joke.
People can ridicule Hillary, personally, and I could not possibly care less. People can ridicule Trump, personally, and I will probably help spread it on the internet.
I am just uncomfortable about the White House being used in the process.
Part of this, let us all remember, is new. People with smart phones, being able to take photographs and digital video practically anywhere, and then being able to broadcast it to the world within seconds. So we never had anybody using such a device in the Nixon White House, to ridicule Dick or Pat or Henry Kissinger or anybody else. No cellphones, taking pics of Kennedy-era bimbos. No video of LBJ snoring on a couch wearing only his boxer shorts.
David Begley said... One doesn't wear a hat inside the White House.
They might as well wear shorts.
"I am just uncomfortable about the White House being used in the process."
-- I feel like some parts of the White House are meant to be pomp/circumstancy and political (like the Rose Garden is frequently used for ra-ra, go President Whoever photo shoots and the like). The portrait gallery though is a bit of a weird spot, but I'm in the "whatever" camp. Maybe it is a bit gauche, but there are bigger things to worry about.
I don't see how Trump is responsible for people poking fun of Hillary in the Whitehouse. These people aren't members of the administration or even Whitehouse employees.
I wonder what the odds are that Obama would have been blamed for visitors mocking Bush. I'm guessing somewhere between 0 and 0. This is a fake news.
Hillary is the first First Lady to wear pants in her official portrait. Bill Clinton is the first president to wear no pants in his.
Chuck said "So if, in a future Administration, the official portrait of Donald Trump is placed somewhere, and official visitors are allowed to pose in front of it for joke-photo purposes, how would I feel?"
I think it would be more analogous if it were a portrait of Melania. I cringe to think of how people will pose with Melania's portrait.
David Begley said... One doesn't wear a hat inside the White House.
Not even a pussy hat ? Resistance, and all that....
I guess it is fair to say this trend originated in the Obama White House:
http://nation.foxnews.com/gay-activists/2012/06/22/philly-mag-gay-activists-pose-white-house-pics-giving-finger-reagan-portrait
I think it would be more analogous if it were a portrait of Melania. I cringe to think of how people will pose with Melania's portrait.
Poor analogy. Melania does not think that as FLOTUS she is ipso facto entitled to be President.
Would it be that the picture is like a trophy in a hunting lodge?
Three solid citizens, and a crook.
Tourists should always show respect for art. Otherwise they run the risk of being like an ugly American. Actually Germans are the worst tourists. Museums put up signs, Germans ignore them. Unless they are in Germany.

Thank you so very much for your post. Kudos. It proves my above point(s) in several respects:
1. This is a smartphone-generation problem. It isn't a "leftwing" problem or a "rightwing" phenomenon.
2. Both sides complain, when they catch the opposing side engaging in this sort of disrespect. The gay activists get exposed, on Fox and in the conservative media. The Palin/Nugent/Kid Rock disrespect will get exposed in the liberal media.
3. Let's give Rob, Ted and Sarah some credit for simply posing in a quietly leering pose, and not flipping the bird.
4. The better behavior is "just don't do it." At least not in the White House.
5. Althouse asks the perceptive question; has Trump left the Clinton portrait up, in order to mock it? And the Trump supporters have a good point; would Trump be assailed, for having the staff take it down? The problems, of living in an environment where people can't be trusted to live with civilized personal limits on their own.
'The portrait, in the Cross Hall of the White House, was hung during former President George W. Bush's tenure in 2004.'
The world ain't going back there Chuck no matter how much any of us would like it too.
"Ann knows very well that those rioters in Berkeley don't identify as Democrats"
Yes they do. If it were just the three-dozen odd core members of the black block you would be correct that its just an odd political sect. But they routinely have hundreds if not thousands behind them, and cheering them on, and who willingly would hide them from arrest, else they would simply have been arrested and taken away. And their general political-cultural alignment is precisely oriented within the Democratic ideological spectrum.
This is one typical member -
http://theralphretort.com/report-violent-antifa-u-lock-attacker-from-berkeley-identified-as-college-professor-eric-clanton-4020017/
A San Francisco State/Contra Costa County Community College professor. His academic specialty is basic leftism of the sort that you will find is SOP among public high school teachers in California - i.e., "restorative justice", etc.. The only real difference is, apparently, his willingness to whack people with bike locks.
Thank god American citizens are still free to mock their politicians.
Drunk Althouse is totally adorable....that's why we don't see her much....she hates that!
Chuck, thanks for bringing that up. Seeing Inga and the others in a rage over three people for posing in front of the Clinton portrait is a hilarious example of overreach compared to AIDS' activists posing themselves extending the middle finger in front of the Reagan portrait.
How can we tell Inga is in a rage? Because she brought it up. She sees three people posing, with smiles, politely, in front of HRC, and hears a dog whistle that says, "They're mocking her! HOW DARE THEY!"
And, yes, Republicans are generally nicer about winning and getting along. That's why the Democrats roll over them so easily.
Fortunately, I'm not a doctrinaire Republican, so I'm happy to continue saying that Hillary Will Never Be President. And now that we know from "Shattered," that she ordered her minions in 2008 to read the emails stored on her campaign's servers to find out who's been leaking stories to the press, we've learned that she's lied to us about her knowledge of her emails in 2012.
Imagine her carrying on Obama's intelligence-gathering operations from the Oval Office.
First of all, how are they posing disrespectfully? They're standing in front of the portrait grinning and, it's funny because of who they are and of who Hillary is, but they're not giving her the finger, like those AIDS Activists did with Reagan or grabbing Hillarys boob, like those Obama staffers did with Hillarys cutout. They're not even holding up a sign that says "Ha! We won!" Or "Ding dong the witch is dead."
It's mockery but it's not obscene or sexist, like leftist mockery of conservatives is. But it's enough to send Once Written into a tizzy and Chuck into full Miss Manners pearl clutch (. Because nice Republicans don't do such things!!!). So it's a pretty good. joke. All the right people are upset. Or, rather, "Outraged!,
Buwaya, it's a bit like all those "moderate Muslims" who would never blow up infidels themselves but don't mind terribly much when the Terrorists do it. The "liberals" here and in Berkeley wouldn't have the guts to beat up a Trump supporter themselves but they just can't bring themselves to condemn those who do. No wonder the Left has taken Islam to its collective bosom. They have the same mindset.
Doesn't look crooked to me.
The frame looks like it's parallel to the marble slabs in the wall, which one hopes are at right angles to the ground and such.
Please tell me this "Shemane Nugent" White House photo is actually from Saturday Night Live
Hillary looks a lot slimmer in the portrait than in real life. It's like Barry Alvarez's statue outside Camp Randall; they left off his paunch.
Question to ask yourself: would you say something kind or unkind if they posted a picture of Palin standing in front of President Bush? Or Carter? Or Nixon? Or Coolidge? How about Polk? Madison?
Then, in this thought experiment, ask yourself what would you say if someone suggested that they could have posted a pic standing with Ms Clinton's portrait.
If you find yourself damning A and damning B, well there you go. I think the patience at seeing this behaviour, for decades now, has worn a few people to not worry about the perpetual damning. Try less damning.
I heard that when Trump moved into the White House he called up the Clintons and offered to send them the painting, but Bill answered and he said 'no, keep it.'
That's what I heard anyway.
I don't understand the point being raised by LLR Chuck. Hillary's portrait is hanging in the White House - and will always hang in the White House - because she was a FLOTUS.
Therefore, the only reason this photo is funny/offensive is the context that Hillary tried to go from FLOTUS to POTUS, in a repudiation of the American tradition that we have no aristocracy and no royal family. In a country of 300 million people, the notion that the best candidate for President is a previous President's wife is absolutely outrageous. There is a 1 in 300 million chance that is the case and nothing about Hillary suggests America won the lottery.
So to LLR Chuck's hypothetical, if three well known celebrity Democrats - let's say George Clooney, Al Franken, and Merryl Streep - posed in the future in front of a White House picture of President Trump in exactly the same way as Kid Rock, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent - smiling, arms crossed, no obscene gestures... Umm, okay? Where's the insult?
Chuck,
"So if, in a future Administration, the official portrait of Donald Trump is placed somewhere,"
Not sure where you're going with that analogy. You do realize that Hillary lost, don't you?

Umm, okay? Where's the insult?
Let's start with your first, good point. Of course the portrait of Hillary Clinton hangs in the White House. My understanding is that there is an East Wing gallery where the FLOTUS portraits normally hang. And that all modern FLOTUS portraits are viewable. Is that where this photo was taken? Is that where the Mrs. Clinton portrait hangs right now? There was a time, in the Bush Administration, when the Clinton portrait hung in the Cross Hall.
I'm not sure if a portrait of every president hangs in the White House at present. I defer to anyone who knows. The WH Collection has portraits of all of them, I'm quite sure, although some may be owned by other museums and federal agencies. I'm just not sure if all are on display in areas open to visitors. Visitors like the Motor City Madman.
To your second point, about the photograph in question. And you wondered what the insult, or the humor, could possibly be, if Clooney, Streep and Franken posed in front of a Trump portrait? You think that would be an unremarkable photo? Do Trump fans think that the Palin/Nugent/KidRock photo was an unremarkable one? Of course it isn't. It's a message. A statement. I just have to say; as you seem to have correctly caught on, it is a message because Hillary lost. It wouldn't be a message (and the photo would never have existed) if Hillary had won. The comparison, to a photo taken in front of a Trump portrait by some lefty celebrity ideologues, would not be the same, unless the photo was taken in April of 2021 after a Trump electoral loss. Or after a Trump assassination, or something like that.

Oh bullshit. I don't speak for anyone else, but I see this actual photo as no more than amusing. As for the hypothetical, I might or might not find that amusing as well. Probably not. But a message? A statement? Please. Go back to counting who is or who is not on Lenin's tomb on Mayday.
CWJ-
I guess the only reason that I thought that TrumpWorld would think that it was some world-class hilarious trolling of Hillary, to pull off that photo, was because the bible of TrumpWorld, Brietbart News, used the word "Troll" in a headline for the story.
Whereupon, about 4 or 5 thousand Breitbart/Trump fans all piled on with their congratulations, on such world-class hilarious trolling. Like so:
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/04/20/sarah-palin-kid-rock-ted-nugent-visit-trump-troll-hillary/
The aging rockstars and no-longer-in-office politicos of the left won't just be posing risibly in the White house; they'll be able to pose in the Trump Memorial on the National Mall (I think there's a space between the new African American Museum and the Washington Monument.)
That is pretty funny but it doesn't come close to the humor of getting a blow job from an intern while you are on the phone with an influential congressman who himself was getting his ashes hauled. I tried and failed to work rising in there. Sorry.
I wonder what evil, cruel, mocking message is the real story behind this picture?
http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/favreau_gropes_clinton_cardboard_cutout/
That's mocking the sexual assault of a women, is what that that is. Favreau should be in jail. Maybe he will be, some day.
"lifelong republican" and Rachel Maddow fanboy Chuck: "I guess the only reason that I thought that TrumpWorld would think that it was some world-class hilarious trolling of Hillary, to pull off that photo, was because....."
...You have been wrong about everything for the last 18 months and thought, hey, it's probably best to maintain your "perfect" record?
I sympathize with the concern expressed by Chuck and Inga. I can only imagine how upsetting it must be to see a photo like that. Did you notice how Kid Rock posed so that it appears that Hillary is laying a maternal hand on his shoulder. What a mabtre touch. I certainly hope that President Trump doesn't get in the habit of posing before this portrait with prospective Supreme Court nominees. That would not serve to bind our nation's wounds. It would be even worse if he used that portrait as a backdrop when he signed some executive order mandating the use of American steel on some new pipeline......But it's good that Chuck and Inga have a place to vent their feelings. It's not good to keep such feelings bottled up. Do they bring on a tension headache or is it more like nausea? Please, share these feelings with all of us. People here are sympathetic.
Why are Democrats so dumb?
Souza apparently thinks that Hillary was president.
I never thought I would think of the GOP as the smart party, but someone has to fill the vacuum.
If the left did not have double standards, they would have no standards at all.
As Iowahawk said: This can only be described as the Manhattan Project of trolling
I am most interested in what is NOT there.
Or rather, the picture that was NOT taken.
Any guesses what is missing that piques my interest?
Powerline has the Oval Office photo up and it is an enjoyable experience.
OK, OK, due to overwhelming popular demand ;-) I will tell you what is most interesting:
There is (as of yet) no photo of the visitors posing in a disrespectful way with a portrait of Obama.
That is interesting.
Hillary is disliked, even within her own party. I suspect there are many on the left who secretly sympathize with the sentiments of the visitors, even as they (correctly) condemn the visitors for impolite behavior. This picture is likely to be viewed favorably overall.
The anger at a similarly posed picture with a portrait of Obama would be more heartfelt, and more widely spread, including among some groups that the Republicans are eager to win over (blue collar minorities, women, Obama voters, and so on)
Now this may just be luck. Perhaps they did not think to pose with an Obama portrait, or there was no Obama portrait available. But Trump seems to be very "lucky" in these matters of public image.
