"They've gone beyond politics and should be treated like the pariahs they are.... For this sin against human decency, your Donald voting relatives should be shunned. They should treated as collaborators because that's what they are. They're the people in Germany who stood by and watched the Jews be herded into concentration camps and murdered. Except they're worse because at least the Germans had never seen anything like the rise of Hitler before. They had no frame of reference to understand what was happening to their country. Your Donald voting relatives have heard and read about Nazis their entire lives. They know and they didn't care.... This is when you look them in the eye and tell them that you're ashamed of them and they've stained their soul. It won't be fun. It won't be easy. It won't be a happy memory. But it's necessary...."
Ooh. That's rough. But at least one young person stepped up to the task. Fortunately, it was all caught on camera:

Nobody teaches comedy anymore. It's probably too dangerous.
Well done!
The video, I mean. The article is unintentionally funny, though, because it's so unhinged.
I'm dense. Is the video the comedy, or is that sick blog post complete over the top satire?
My least favorite part was:
Every single reason they give is a lie and they know it. They wanted one thing and one thing only: To take "their" country back from that fucking n*gger in the White House. That's it. End of line. Full stop.
So the poor white trash of the rust vote were good Dems when they voted for Obama twice, but now are racist hicks for not voting for a white woman?
That's brave talk for a "stridently center-left Jewish-Puerto Rican atheist liberal your conservative grandparents warned you about, ... also a full-time stay at home parent to an autistic son and a neurotypical daughter, a doting husband, a donor daddy to a lesbian couple, a PTA president, a sci-fi geek".
Rub their nose in the shit, indeed. Crossing the Rubicon, right.
Little boy, you got no clue about what you're getting into.
I am an avid reader of Soviet History. One of the hardest things to originally get my mind around was how people would turn their own family over to the authorities, often for no reason other than to settle a family grudge, sometimes to garner standing in the Party. (Read Figes’ “The Whisperers: Private Life in Stalin's Russia” for examples, among countless others).
Easy to see now who those people would be here in America.
And they’re proud of it. They will gladly sacrifice family to their exalted Self-Regard.
Knives in the back for everybody, eventually.
And yes, I said “garner.” Seeing if Althouse is paying attention.
I am Laslo.
Love the Hitler claims. In my entire life, I have met exactly one liberal who I couldn't easily picture shoving Jews into ovens if they were German in the 1930's.
Hell, there are a lot of liberals I could picture shoving Trump supporters into ovens today. Give them the power and the encouragement, let them know this is what a true liberal does, make it so the only thing standing between them and genocide is their personal sense of human decency and dignity. Everyone here could name a few people who you think would go along.
Everyone here could name a few people who you think would go along.
Everyone here could name a few people *here* who would go along.
So the poor white trash of the rust vote were good Dems when they voted for Obama twice, but now are racist hicks for not voting for a white woman?
Yes. You're valued to the extent you hew to the party line.
I know there's an 'Overton Window', but maybe there should also be a 'Godwin Window' as well...
Young people. The very group who knows the least of how despots like them best.
Some liberals are worse than Hutterites with all this shunning. Not all, but a vocal minority.
Ha! If young people shunned their Trump voting relatives at Thanksgiving, who supplied the turkeys and dinner tables and houses?
Well done. I like her.
Leftwinger progs accuse you of acting like a Nazi, all while they act like a Nazi.
The Death of the Adult. All across college campuses, increasing in personal debt, funneling money into academia, addicted to pop culture, video games, and the internet (porn) the children of the land have no means to grow up. The Death of the Adult.
ProgCong tears are sweeter than honey.
That article is a parody, no?
For a minute I thought that was Steven Crowder.
It's hard to take an author seriously when they use Evil Spock for an avatar.
Most probable outcome of the denunciation, being told to "F*** off."
Reminds me of a post I saw awhile back where the poster stated she stopped going to family gatherings because some of her relatives persisted in stating their beliefs despite her instructing them on the benightedness of those beliefs.
I pointed out that her family was probably happy to no longer have to put up with her self-righteous hectoring.
You little twerp. Get up from the table, grab your man purse, find the front door, and don't let it hit you in the backside on the way out. We're done here.
It's no shame to be a pariah.
Seriously, best outcome after the self-righteous rant about how his perfectly nice relatives, some of whom probably voted for Obama twice, are worse than Nazis, is an awkward silence while everyone wonders if the kid should be on meds.
SJW's are masters of psychological projection - "I hate you! Because you're a hater!"
Funny stuff.
The reason why the Left is so into shunning is because they can't make an argument or engage in a conversation without being made to look stupid and they know it.
Sometimes, it's not very funny. That guy's patience is amazing.
@Michael K
The woman seemed drunk or stoned.
And it never occurs to them that silencing dissent is one of the reasons why Trump is the president.
The guy probably did want to provoke a reaction.
The thing is, when blacks sat down at lunch counters in the south during Jim Crow, they were looking to provoke a reaction too.
The reaction is the problem, not the provocation. But, since they are the embodiment of all that is good and right, they are entitled to act in any way they wish.
In my family, laughter results when someone goes off the deep end, out loud. And my saintly mother long ago taught me, through her example, that a deep sigh and an earnestly stated, "Well, God bless you for that!" goes a long way to eliminating idiocy from the dinner table with minimum controversy.

There's probably German word for people like this writer.
I think it's angerwanker.
Hilarious, that part about the Germans just had no frame of reference and didn't know what they were doing when they put Hitler into power. Trying to shame your relatives about voting for Trump and using the Nazis to do it, it probably helps if you know what you're talking about first. Otherwise, you sound both uncouth and stupid.
My late mother used to say that insanity is inherited. You get it from your kids.
That's human nature, Laslo.
Just like calling someone a witch.
I think those women are married.
I am heartened by this video.
This was gutsy from a certain POV. And they're young. They are young and they saw thru the bull.
The Jews were not viable. Today, we know better. Sort of, kind of, not really.
Pretty much nailed it!
Seriously who puts politics over family? If I had such a relative and said relative made such a stink at a family gathering I would ask them to make a simple choice for the occasion: family or politics and of politics kindly leave right now.
Great video. And so much more on target than SNL.
Instead of watching sit com reruns or Gone With The Wind I watched election coverage the other night. George Stephanapolos with his grim face and tight jaw as the night goes on is priceless. He is a Clinton loyalist and is good at interpreting trends. So you know he realizes the disaster early but he has to keep going. And you know after 10PM he is waiting for messages from the Clinton team but no messages come. And the cameras go to the Clinton party but there is no one to interview - just an ABC TV reporter all by itself reporting that in all the crowded room there are no campaign aides to come on camera. And members of the crack ABC news team begin to snap - women shriek out shrill accusations about Trump and his voters, men circle blindly around "why". George clenches his jaw and returns them to analysis of the disaster, to the screen with red pouring everywhere like the Field of Blood. "Let's see, has anyone got a message from anyone in the Clinton camp? Let's see, Hillary still has a pathway - if she wins all the remaining states. She is behind in four of them with 95% reporting but they all have big cities and if they dug out a lot of Democratic voters there somehow ... has anyone had a message from anyone in the Clinton camp? Martha, can you tell us why this happened?" "George, the rural voters are angry. As you know I actually made my way into western Pennsylvania which is hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of miles from anywhere and rode around in "pickup trucks" with the colorful inhabitants, some of whom were able to communicate - though not well since they hadn't been to college like me and you and anyone who matters. But I was able to decipher their grunts and they were saying that free trade took their jobs and only Trump cared. So if we had realized that they existed and had lost their jobs in such large numbers and had the vote then even though we don't care at all whether they live or die we might have predicted this result." "Has anyone heard from the Clinton camp?" "Well, George, I think this was racism. The black working class suffered even more than those stupid rednecks and they still voted for Clinton and more of the same. So it's racism." "George, I just got a tweet from an important Clinton donor, it says "Over. Done. Clinton lost". George clenches his jaw tighter. ABC news is getting important info on the biggest upset since 1946 from tweets from people it cannot identify. Another woman screams out insults at Trump voters. George returns everyone to the map where red runs everywhere and they continue to chew the left-over chewing gum of the analysis of the Field Blood. While waiting for Clinton to concede. Since I knew she never did, I left them there.
But I'll just say this. This blog had a better representation of the electorate and could have done better on analysis. WTW
Just imagine... No need to imagine. History informs us that the Jews were labeled by class diversity schemes for judgment and discrimination. We know what was Planned in the privacy of chambers and clinics.
I made the mistake of checking Facebook this morning, and found the daily anti-Trump rants from the usual people. Not quite on the level of this guy but give them time.
(One of them was from the guy who, in response to my aside that I don't talk politics on Facebook, responded solemnly, "Trump isn't politics." Funny, I think he's a remarkable example of politics, love him, hate him or somewhere in between.)
And I thought, isn't it going to be exhausting for you to be this wound up all the time? He's not even president yet, he hasn't actually done anything, and you're this freaked out about what you're convinced he will do. Guaran-frickin'-tee that if I were to explain that I'd prefer to wait to freak out until I'm convinced I have to, I'd get an incredibly facile and trite lecture about the German people in the 1930s.
Apparently, when useful in the construction of slander, "Jews lives matter."
I keep reading about entire communities paralyzed by fear of President Elect Trump. These fears are being stoked by the press (was David Duke on ANYONE'S radar until the MSM found they could link him to Trump?). And colleges are providing play doh, puppies and counseling for those students unable to cope. In fact there were students unable to cope with chalk (CHALK!) marks on sidewalks that simply said "Trump".
I am reminded of when a child wakes in the night screaming, "There is a monster under the bed!"
Sure you hold your child for a bit, they are a child, after all. But then you get on the floor, raise the covers and show them there IS no monster.
But, apparently, on today's campuses the (so called) adults say, "I know, I know there's a monster. I'm afraid too! Let's both hide in the closet!"
Is it child abuse when the children are 20?
I told my kids that of course there were monsters in the dark basement of our Baltimore rowhose. But that we allowed only the very best monsters to inhabit our basement, and they were paying rent, so we could expect them to behave. And only to eat children who misbehaved. Then we'd go down to the basement and try to find them, together, because who wouldn't want to meet a well-behaved monster?
My kids are grown now, and remind me of my... alternative... parenting methods every time they visit home.
Sounds like me in 2008. And again in 2012. Nice to know we're all on the same page now.
Is this video supposed to be comedy? Because I think it's a pretty accurate depiction of the opinions of many people I know on both sides of the aisle.
Wildswan said: Instead of watching sit com reruns or Gone With The Wind I watched election coverage the other night.
Is this available on the internet? I planned to drink myself stupid that night and avoid the TV because I was sure that Hillary's "glass ceiling" speech would be delivered about 8:15 p.m. West Coast time. But I dipped my toe into Drudge and Althouse about 7:30 and discovered that Hillary wasn't a sure bet. At that point, I began to watch TV, but couldn't keep track of the grim faces. And I missed all of the smugness at the beginning. Would love to watch from start to finish.
At our family gatherings we are pretty open to discussions on political, religious and other "touchy" subject. But we are, by and large, also a pretty polite group. That is something sorely missing from this world.
But, within this arena of mutual respect and politeness we feel free to speak our minds. In fact the only words I know that are sure to get you ejected from a family Thanksgiving gathering here are:
"I brought white bread stuffing."
"I keep reading about entire communities paralyzed by fear of President Elect Trump. These fears are being stoked by the press (was David Duke on ANYONE'S radar until the MSM found they could link him to Trump?)."
***********
Yes, and the MSM is still at it. They recently sent 50+ journos to cover a meeting of 200-odd "alt-right" people , as if the latter represent a sizable segment of Trump supporters.
But let the Communist Party USA, the Socialist Workers Party and any of the other far-left American splinter groups hold similar gatherings, and watch the MSM assiduously ignore them.
It's just how they roll. Yet they wonder why so many people despise them.
Relevant McArdle link: The Left's Doomed Effort to Coerce the Right
The MSM this election season remind me of those guys that self castrate themselves in a rage. They have done this to themselves, few are respected anymore.
Yes, shame them while eating their food and letting them pay for your healthcare and cover your credit card debts. Worthless parasites.

JAORE,
"But we are, by and large, also a pretty polite group. That is something sorely missing from this world."
Well put.
It's not that I think no one should be read out of polite company for their views. I just think it should be a last resort, whereas it feels like most people these days use it as the first.
I've lived in the Bay Area for nearly 45 years. We are the bubbling cauldron at ground zero for the Left.
Up until maybe 10 years ago, I happily dismissed the Left. I felt they were so removed from the real country, that I tolerated them as mostly ineffectual and quirky.
But I've come to realize that the Left is much more than quirky. They destroy things. Sometimes it their own life with drugs. Sometimes they destroy families with divorce and bitterness. Sometimes they destroy institutions. They do this under the guise of "making things better". But they lack any sense of self-help and totally reject the practice of the civil exchange of ideas. Their primary debating tactic is to call their opponent a racist and then declare themselves winner by TKO.
So, I'm not necessarily a Gung Ho Republican. But I am anti-Left. And many of those jokers have found a home in the Democratic Party, so I oppose the Dems too.
I may have related this once before, but about a year and half ago, a close relative of mine posted on her Facebook page that her account was only to used for non-political postings and comments, and that she was sick and tired of receiving links and posts from her "friends" that contained such material, and that if they couldn't follow those rules, they should unfriend her since she was going to do the same if it continued. Now, at the time, I strongly suspected her complaint wasn't about political content in general, but was rather a complaint about receiving political content that wasn't Progressive in nature, but since I don't make Facebook posts of any kind, I let the matter rest without asking directly about it.
However, around the time of the Democratic National Convention, seemingly every other post on her account became Hillary! posts of one kind or another. In the early morning or November 9th she became completely unhinged, and in a series of posts that ran for over two weeks basically called every voter for Trump racist cretins, and she couldn't understand how she didn't know the world was full of such people. I didn't really take the outrage personally, but it was puzzling to me that she would write such things since I am almost 100% sure she knew her that a great number of her close relatives did vote for Trump. If I had been in her position, I certainly would have taken that into account before writing anything about my feelings regarding the election- or at least I think I would have. I have to wonder what it is about this situation that completely undermines ones self-control this way- and this wasn't a youngster writing- this person was past middle-aged like me.
Bay Area Guy, I live outside of the city but I getting this sense that bay area liberals are quietly getting the idea they shouldn't continually call people racist, if they voted for Trump. I think this is more strategic than heart felt, but it seems like progress of a kind. How about your friends and associates? Have you seen any shift to acceptance yet?
I think the bigger question is how can parents combat the institutional brainwashing of the kids they send off to university? I've heard of so many cases of the brainwashing taking 100% hold within a year.
And yes, I said “garner.” Seeing if Althouse is paying attention. I am Laslo.
Laslo, I thought the only place you would use that word is to tell us of your affection for and attraction to Jennifer Garner. My wrong!
Fortunately, I don't have any relatives stupid enough to pull crap like that.
If I did? They'd be sipping their turkey and stuffing through a straw.

I have a Bay Area son who is a lefty. A big fan of Gavin Newsome. He doesn't speak to me anymore so I don't know how he feels about Trump but I can guess. He's a trial lawyer and used to post snarky comments on my personal blog but now the only time I see him is at Christmas and very little conversation. Too bad, really, but his choice.
Tolerance only extends in one direction.
Sorry to hear that, Michael K.
He's a born trial lawyer.
People who can't criticize Trump for shit (let alone stomach any criticism of him - which is legion) have a hell of a lot of nerve using tags like "Trump derangement syndrome".
I guess narcissists gotta defend fellow narcissists.
The stupid fucker of an author wouldn't know a Nazi if one goose stepped across his lawn.
You could then respond with a better example...the election of 1860. The Democrats were just as butt hurt and freaked out by the election of our first Republican president, Lincoln. They had painted Lincoln as a monster worse than John Brown, when in reality he was actually quite moderate on slavery, and by today's standards an out and out racist. So when he won, the Democrats panicked and seceded.
Hopefully Trump can extend the analogy, because Lincoln is considered to be one of our greatest presidents.
Gahrie is apparently quite happy to expose to the world how little he knows of Lincoln, Democrats and Trump. All in one. This guy is like the gift that keeps on giving... for the proudly ignorant. Trump truly is the president of a post-fact America. And his supporters/defenders finally have someone who speaks to their hatred for facts. Facts are inconvenient, feelings rule! And now America's sloppiest emoters have a tantrum-throwing emotional narcissist to represent them. All hail the emotionally immature! For they shall inherit the earth.
I for one welcome our emotionally immature overlords.
R&B, are you saying we've been given 'facts' by the MSM over the past 20 years? Have you ever read a news article about an event about which you had personal knowledge? How many 'facts' were reported right and how many wrong?
I guess, R&B, you have something against narcissists. So it follows you don't approve of Alexander the Great, Napoleon or Churchill, just to name a few.
R&B, are you saying we've been given 'facts' by the MSM over the past 20 years?
No.
Not sure the DSM had an NPD definition prior to 1960. That said, I don't doubt Napoleon could have been an NPD. His leadership didn't exactly end well. As for the others, that seems a lot less likely. Being "narcissistic" is not the same as a clinical NPD diagnosis. Clinical narcissists believe in an image of themselves to the exclusion of all facts that challenge it, and tend to be disastrous leaders as ego exultation takes precedent over everything else. That is different from simply having a hell of a lot of confidence and belief in oneself. If Alexander was a clinical narcissist he wouldn't have inspired as many soldiers into battle, and he wouldn't have grieved to the point of his own death the death of his companion/"lover?" Hephaestion. And Churchill wouldn't not have gracefully allowed his power to lapse until such time as brilliant wartime leadership demanded it. And relinquished it again afterward.
And Churchill wouldn't not have gracefully allowed his power to lapse until such time as brilliant wartime leadership demanded it. And relinquished it again afterward.
Nothing graceful about it. He was voted out. He hated political oblivion.
Nothing graceful about it. He was voted out. He hated political oblivion.
Show me a comment he offered about it anywhere near as witless and bitchy as one of Trump's tweets.
Trump's narcissism is obvious because not only can he not allow anyone who's clearly better at him in anything be recognized as such, he can't even stand humor to that effect. I highly doubt Churchill had trouble figuring out when he wasn't the wittiest person in the room. Trump's the most witless person in the country on many occasions, and can't stand forgoing an opportunity to expose that fact in a tweet to everyone with basic literacy.
Gahrie is apparently quite happy to expose to the world how little he knows of Lincoln, Democrats and Trump
So I guess it will be real easy for you to cite any factual inaccuracies I made.
You made a nonsense comparison between Trump and Lincoln, and couldn't tell the difference between Southern and Northern Democrats, as if they were the same party. Which would have been pretty strange seeing as how they ran two separate candidates in 1860. But you're obviously stuck in partisan label mode anyway (most Republicans today are) - mistaking today's labels for yesteryear's. Which begs the question of whether you'd do that to Teddy Roosevelt. I guess you're a conservative Republican who can't account for Republican hero Teddy Roosevelt's unabashed progressivism.
On what actual level do you intend to compare Lincoln to Trump - apart from superficial partisan labels? You made the comparison, defend it. How are they at all the same? Same views toward "outsiders" in the American nation? Same views towards rights? You must have been a real fan of expanding voting rights the way Lincoln's Republicans did after the war. How about free labor taking precedent over citizen rights - of which blacks were guaranteed none? My oh my, the non-parallel parallels never end, do they? But then, you were the one attempting the stupid comparison. I guess anything to save your party, in all its incoherence between the Trump wing and the wing that actually has any power.
R&B: Trump's narcissism is -
I'm sorry, we decline to be lectured on narcissism by someone who supported President Selfie for 8 years. Try next door.
My goodness but isn't he a piece of work. The only guest at my Thanksgiving dinner table this year was my husband. He did vote for Trump, but it wasn't a problem.
I shared Thanksgiving with my dog and he didn't care one bit that I deplorably voted for Trump.
I'm sorry, -
Hahahaha. Like PTSD's poster child would ever have the grace to be apologetic about anything. Hilarious.
...we decline to be lectured on narcissism by someone who supported President Selfie for 8 years. Try next door.
Trump's an actual narcissist. Not just a confident person who doesn't fuck around and actually doesn't mind participating in popular culture. Try next door, dummy. And learn a skill, for fuck's sake. Does bumbling around collecting government checks really suit you and all your talent in... well, whatever your homicidal proclivities entail. Maybe "be all you can be" really was just a slogan, after all.
And really, just stop being a plain-old bitch. It's like you lurk in a corner like a creepy perv, just waiting for me to comment. Try getting a life, you impotent cockshot. I know you're obsessed with me, but this is really pathetic. You're about the least interesting person on these threads, you poorly paid killer.
For the factually unchallenged. But Republicans hate relevant facts, so I understand that the post here is just for the purpose of honest, intelligent people in generations yet unborn looking to shed a little light on what brought down American civilization.
The young people likely to take the advice have already shamed their families with their ignorance and their behavior. What's a little Thanksgiving boorishness?
"For the factually unchallenged."
Thanks R&B....
Of course many will read that and immediately recognize Obama. So it may not be the cutting remark you thought it to be.
The willfully blind will say, "Wut?" and go on with their predictions of the world smoldering behind President Trump.
