The NYT currently has Gary Johnson winning Minnesota with 99.7% of the vote (140+ million raw votes).
I'm thinking we might want to revisit that algorithm.

Well, the New York Times predictor is a bit more sophisticated than I thought- they do take into account where the counts are coming from and what is left and how those remainders do historically in presidential election. So my main reservation has been addressed.
However, I will warn all of you that this is going to be a long night, even if Trump does manage to win either Michigan or Pennsylvania- a shorter night if he wins both. If only one, there is still Arizona out there, and I am not convinced it is in the bag for Trump.

Michael Moore, for all his faults (and they are many!) does spend time talking to actual people in the middle of nowhere and in flyover country. That's why he was acting as a canary in the coal mine.
I think what we're seeing here is an often overlooked demographic fact about the United States: There's an awful fucking lot of white people.
Seriously, if you live in an urban area which is where both black & Latinos congregate in ways that bump into white people, you lose track of just how many white people are out there in the hinterlands.
Yes, yes, I know that there are majority black rural counties in Alabama & Mississippi, & that there are counties in Texas & the West where everybody is of Mexican descent (quite a few of these rural Mexican Americans vote Republican). But, I really think the urban setting of the Democratic vote skews its understanding of American demographics.

I drove through PA on my way to Florida, saw many many Trump signs, no Hillary signs. The only Hillary bumper sticker I saw was on the Beltway around DC. The most telling thing about the Trump signs in PA, is that you saw them on businesses. Usually businesses don't want to get mixed up in politics if it is going to be divisive.

YoungHegelian - it is not so much the demographics as the complete failure of the urban, highly-educated elite to comprehend that identity politics means little to integrated Hispanics, and increasingly little to young blacks who have been thrown under the bus in favor of chasing the Hispanic demographic.
An awful lot of Hispanics voted Trump, and they did so because they basically believe in what he is saying - they know perfectly well that an open border policy is essentially a plantation policy, and they have come from countries that have historically had oligarchical, corrupt power structures.

Ooh, I can answer that one! A couple-a big counties haven't reported yet - Cobb & DeKalb aren't in, so the vote total could move a bunch, in theory. No way Hill-a-ma-loo takes 95% of both, though, so I think Trump's current 5% lead is pretty safe. I wouldn't sweat GA...but they need to get all the votes in already!

As to Wisconsin- Clinton has badly underperformed in Milwaukee and Madison in the precincts counted. That is mainly why the projections are that Trump wins the state.

Normally I would agree. I agreed with Ford when he pardoned Nixon. But Clinton's actions vis-a-vis her server was such a gross flaunting of the law, I think it's important that it not be swept under the rug.

Have to agree with you there - like I said before, the Real Clear Politics map has been holding up - no changes yet. Currently 209 Clinton/223 Trump (have not added GA yet). Their prediction was 272 Clinton/266 Trump. Need either PA,WI,MI,orMN to change to Trump. And need AZ & NV to hold to Trump.

Coupe - there are a whole lot of black voters in GA. Only problem: a lot of them are voting for Trump this go-round. Aside from everything else, there aren't many rural black families in GA that are really for gun control, given our history, it's the grossest insult.
ACA has created a situation in which poor blacks and whites in rural areas are essentially paying for free medical care at hospitals for imported Hispanic laborers, while the blacks and whites aren't getting medical care at all. The wounds run deep.
Trump will take GA. That was a foregone conclusion.
