The 9/11 lights in 2007, cut short by low hanging clouds.

Lower Manhattan, September 10, 2007

That was my view from Brooklyn, the year when I was a visiting professor.

No low clouds today, just a really nice day in NYC. The Tower of LIght has been on for the last few days.

This year, the FDNY formed a procession across the Brooklyn Bridge to a cathedral in Prospect Heights, in honor of the 27 members from Brooklyn firehouses killed on 9-11. At the cathedral, the firemen were remembered at a memorial mass incorporating Mozart's Requiem, with full orchestra, chorus and soloists. Last time that piece was used as the setting for a mass was shortly after the Kennedy assassination, when Jackie asked for it to be done in Boston. Very fitting, very moving.

Report that President Obama moved up the moment of silence. Impatient to get onto the links.

Regardless, it's a nice photograph. It looks majestic.

Excellent shot.
A really good outcome on film, its nor so easy to do this exposure that well. Or your camera had a superb lightmeter.
Or you bracketed like crazy.

If you had not identified it, I would've thought that a long shot from a Ghostbusters movie. Long, strange fifteen years ...
