Architecture with springy nets...

... stretched across atria...

More examples at that first link, and the rest of the house in that photograph here.

It's a neat house. I am about the net given that the results will be unpleasant if it breaks with someone in it. That's going to be an ongoing cost to have it inspected and repaired. If you built something like this in a high property tax area, the taxes would not be pleasant either.

Fun to play on, hard to walk on.

Looks like a lot of complex maintenance.
It doesn't look like a village, either. It looks like a zoo. Do you think the architect was having something over on his customers?

Pretty cool on the inside, ugly on the outside. Do architects do stuff for the non-rich?

Floors are easier.

If it ain't in "Pattern Language", it's not right.

It looks like a zoo.

I saw a barnyard, and sheds in which they performed acts of animal husbandry.

I feel like I had a deprived childhood.

It does look like a zoo, but it'd be more enlightened if they used moats rather than cages to isolate the boys.

Husbandry! Were they married?

Hard not to like but . . .

No bed wetters.

"No Country for Old Men."

Sadly when I see something like this my first thought is building / fire / safety code violation. Normal folk can't pull this off - takes bucks or connections. I speak from experience.

Hammock-type netting is not that comfortable to sit in, lay in, or move around in.

Needs caption à la Unhappy Hipsters.

Is there anything keeping those kids from slipping and rolling down the slope and out that big open window other than, apparently, the hipster parents' bad luck?

Agree. I hate the shingles. The image on Althouse is cropped. If you go to the link, you see all these shelves on the wall of the net room that go to the top gable. Totally unusable shelves.

Yes, architects do stuff for the non-rich. Not as often and it is still over-designed from a cost prospective. Sometimes you have to tell the architect exactly what you want in order to get something affordable.

It's what you build when you can no longer stand to look at your teenagers (or boomerangs) and figure it's not worth the effort to supervise them anyway.

Although it is remarkably inefficient in materials and labor (and energy to heat and cool all that, if you live in a climate where that's necessary) to build all those smaller structures instead of just building one larger box.

Huh. My first thought was "Don't go there if you're wearing a skirt. Or a kilt."
