I have lived here in Texas for 21 years. In addition to the regular four seasons we are graced with a fifth, commonly known as "Hotter than Hell," which runs from about mid-July at least until mid-September. Our first day of 80F weather has been as early as January 2 since I moved here. That warm spell was followed by a repeat performance of our lightly frosty winter. But spring starts not later than mid-February and summer, with >95F temps, usually hits no later than mid-May. Our air conditioning technology is amazing. We generally get back outside without fear of meltdown by October.
I, for one, understand in reverse seasonality your joy in the opening of the outdoor Memorial Union Terrace. Say farewell to the cabin fever.
There's been a big construction project. It wasn't just a seasonal closing. We've been really deprived over the last year. Though there is an upper deck that's been open. But summer on the terrace is such a huge deal around here. Brats. Ice cream....

Great memories on the Terrace! Before they outlawed that giant 44 ounce (?) cup of beer. Why was it closed to begin with?
I didn't know it was closed. I'll have to stop by in August.
