Hillary just promised to remove all lead from everywhere, including "the soil."
Debates? Democrats? What a joke!
Fuck the angry old man..
Hillary is talking about auto bail out and the old man is going on about Wall Street bailout..
Another debate where everyone pretends Hillary isn't a felon.
Hillary and Bernie are a mature RomCom in the making.
Help me, RHHardin.
I am Laslo.
Bern, Bernie. Bern.
The angry old man sounds like he is at a picket line.
Maybe it's an optical illusion but WOAH get a look at those huge hands on Bernie!!!
They are HUGE.
Walking Dead is on early?
Who sponsored the debate?
Geritol?
Sanders is so far behind that this only has entertainment value.
It's like two women showing up to the prom with the same dress.
Every time that angry old man raises his hand and his index finger, I feel like throwing something at him.. He is what 70 something and he thinks he can run the country now. What was he waiting for?
please check out the sublime live-blogging of my live-blogging son John.

I would like to. I bopped over there and didn't see a little blurb about who he is - is there one that I missed? I'll look for just a brief intro. Also I like his name. I was wondering if Althouse is his middle name or if he (or you for him) kept yours, Spanish style. The Spanish would have put the dad's last name before yours so it woulda been John Cohen Althouse and he'd be known as John Cohen. Jonathan (or John) Althouse Cohen has a nicer sound.

Dats funny!
They put it opposite the last episode Downerton Abyss to Ensure no one would watch it.
Thank you all for subjecting yourselves to this form of torture and sparing me. Is Hillary trying to out commie the commie? That would be entertaining.
cubanbob, I just can't believe he thinks he can run the country. What was he waiting for all these decades?
rcocean:
Sanders is keeping it close, like Trump in Maine.
waiting for a Clinton he could prey on?
pm317:
Still waiting for a single thing Cruz said about his religion informing his public policy.
Birkel.. sorry not interested..
Yep. Those things are like SHOVELS, Meade.
Question. How does a terrible local screw-up become a federal issue?

Everything is a federal issue, David Begley, down to the amount of water you use per flush and the lightbulbs you use.
AB Stoddard is exactly right. She summed up exactly what I feel. The angry old man has no way to get the nomination and now he is on a rampage to damage to her. Why would you do that to your own party? What is the hidden agenda here?
They're discussing policy solutions for Faerie, not this realm of mortals. Not my type of fantasy fiction.
pm317:
So you were just making shit up because it felt good?
As long as we both know that we both know.
I think Donald Trump would be a terrible president. He certainly would not govern as a conservative. Yet occasionally I find myself defending his words or his positions, mostly because, good God, he is no worse than the the candidates the Democrats have selected to rule the country. Hillary is an old woman who can't open her mouth without lying. Sanders is promoting a political philosophy that has led to poverty and oppression across the world and across history. Trump could not possibly be worse than either of these two ghastly examples of homo politicus.
Birkel.. No, my comment is based on my observation but I am not obligated to justify to anybody why my comment. Certainly not interested in going back and forth with you on it.
pm317:
You are a Hillary sycophantic, which is unfortunate. But you are currently making yourself every bit the liar. And that is worse.
You should be ashamed. But we both know you won't be.
Sleep soundly.
Birkel.. stop the aggression. We don't know each other. You don't have to care so much about what I am or whom I support. Writing things like that makes you look bad. Let it go.
In the impossible, incredibly unlikely, absolutely unthinkable event that the Obama administration shows a shred of integrity and indicts the Clinton piece of shit, Bern may be the nominee by default. A cracks can dream.
Aggression? That is fanciful and overly dramatic. Are you going to cry-bully me now?
You made yourself a liar. That is some serious aggression on your reputation that you have perpetrated. And I have no issue to remind you repeatedly.

I felt the same way about Obama in early 2008 and yet here we are. I guess that Sanders figured its now or never but I will really believe him when he goes after Hillary like Trump does on the other Republicans and the other Republicans on Trump. Hey Bernie, how difficult is it for you to say I'm not the Democrat being investigated by the FBI?
The Flint water crises is a great example of failure at the local, state, and federal level.
The primary purpose of government programs/departments/agencies is to provide jobs and the secondary purpose is whatever those programs/agencies/departments are supposed to do.
After the debacle at the VA, Bernie Sanders refused to support an amendment to legislation by Marco Rubio that would have made it easier to fire mid-level government managers.
We end up with police brutality, shitty schools, higher levels of lead in water, veterans who can't get an appointment with a doctor, etc. And not once, ever, does any Democrat ever say: if we reformed our civil service laws and public sector collective bargaining laws, government could be more responsive and accountable to citizens. There are no civil service laws or collective bargaining laws protecting the military because national defense is so important. But children's education, the water supply, victims of police corruption and brutality, sick veterans aren't as important as protecting jobs.

While I'll admit it is not a very likely outcome nevertheless a hundred plus FBI agents aren't playing with their Johnsons in this matter and a federal prosecutor didn't grant immunity just for fun. The permanent government can see the handwriting on the wall and Obama is now a very lame duck. They know what's coming down the pike and they know they can't be tarred with an obvious cover up. I suspect by the time of the convention too much will be out to keep Hillary viable politically. She's old and tired and has grandkids so she will come to her senses and bow out while some presumably electable candidate can be selected at the convention. Sanders if he wants the nomination has to go scorched earth on Hillary now to insure there is no last minute replacement for her if he really wants the nomination.
Huge hands on Bernie? Naw, look at the HUGE hands on Hillary!
"Excuse me" "cough cough" "cough cough"
mccullough:
You go talking like that and the next crazy thought to pop out is that private businesses are more accountable to customers than government to the serfs, I mean citizens.
That type of thinking is DoublePlusUngood.
I sincerely hope the FBI succeeds in delaying indictment until after Obama is out of office, otherwise he'll just pardon her. She won't win anyway. Not a chance in hell. Even Jeb could've beat Hillary.

“When you watch these republican debates you know why we need to invest in mental health.”

I now see why Hillary wears the old bag cloths. Hides her Geratol pump. Bernie just swills his down before the debate
one feels like mogatu in zoolander, watching these bizarre spectacles,
the flint city council didn't bother with basic water treatment protocols when they made their
neat deal, and the epa, the one being given medals for performance, wasn't out to lunch, it's the same scam and nagen and blanco, in new orleans,
"Why would you do that to your own party?" He's an independent, don't you remember?
Are any of the folks pointing out the age of these two favoring Trump at 69 years young?
Democratic debate: whether it's a good thing to spend other people's money or a really good thing.
Bernie Sanders said the following:
Whites ‘Don’t Know What It’s Like to Be Living in a Ghetto and to Be Poor’
Is that what liberals think? No wonder they keep talking about white privilege. this might be why Trump gets so many white supporters. The poor whites are assumed to not have any understanding of being poor in America. And if they say they are, its white privilege.
Democrats and liberals, white people in this country have an understanding of being poor. there are a lot of poor white people. Understand?
After watching the D debate tonight, I have decided that I will vote for Trump if, and only if, a journalist reports that Trump has said:
"Black people need to get over themselves."
There are Americans who are not Black, you know. Some of them have actually been been beat up, robbed, raped or murdered by Black people.
Hard to believe, isn't it?
This the old man who is making her sweat on her way to the coronation
JAC did a good job on the live-blogging. I watched it, and his summaries are succinct, insightful, and accurate.
hey pm317, it's all good, no need to be angry
vote Marco!
Remember our blog hostess is a senior citizen. And she's awesome. (That's her best picture yet!)
Weird how this election is a throwback. Bernie is a throwback in 1918. And I feel like Hillary vs. Trump would be 1968 all over again.
Maybe I should start calling him Angry Nixon.
After President Trump, we will have fond memories of Richard Nixon. "He was so tricky!" we'll say. "But in a good way."
Sock it to me
That might be how Nixon first got elected. He used a joke.
Interesting how small things can make such a big difference.
hey pm317, it's all good, no need to be angry
I'm glad somebody else said what I was thinking.
Saint Croix, maybe you should read this piece called "Gang Rape" by David Horowitz?
The anti-Trump crowd seems to have missed the irony of this primary season. From the outset, instead of destroying Trump such bare knuckle assaults have increased Trump’s support while inflicting notable damage on the reputations of his attackers. Like many, I regarded Romney as probably the most decent man to run for the presidency in recent times. Even though I wasn’t a fan of his politically I held this view until his attack on Trump, which simultaneously exposed Romney as a hypocrite, a liar, and a treacherous fair weather friend.
Marco Rubio is another victim of his anti-Trump attacks which mark his transformation from the passionate conservative who had inspired many (including myself) to think of him as probably the best face for Republicans in the coming election, into a political hatchet-man. Ted Cruz has also diminished himself through his immoderate attacks on Trump. Cruz has won the admiration of conservatives, myself included, by showing the kind of political courage that has been so missing in congressional ranks, and Trump it should be said is wrong to have dismissed his lonely stands as accomplishing nothing. Ted Cruz is also very smart – smart enough to know that when businessman Trump contributes to powerful Democrats he is buying influence and not “funding the architects of Obamacare,” as the senator claims.
It describes how I feel almost exactly, and this is rare praise for me, in better words than I could have come up with myself. Basically Hillary need only to avoid slipping in the pools of Republican blood on the floor, or Bernie, if Hillary were to be indicted.
Tim, I got to run to work.
The main thing is to fight and fight well. I think Marco knocked the shit out of Trump. It was awesome. I don't know if the voters noticed, but Trump sure did. Keep fighting, Marco. Keep it on the high road.
Republicans are suspicious and negative this election season. Rush, do you believe Marco Rubio or not? Is he a good man or not? Rush Limbaugh, we need you! Join the fight!
Keep it on the high road.
It's a little late for that. Eye rolling was the way to handle Trump.
"Question. How does a terrible local screw-up become a federal issue?"
Answer--black voters. The Dems know that the black vote is a key pillar for their victory this year, and turnout has to be at least close to what it was in 2012. So ostensibly local issues (like cops shooting black suspects) become key debate points.
Sadly, the real answer to the problems blacks face is to throw out the local Democratic establishments that have run the cities they live in. With no competition those establishments have no accountability, and so "black problems" become "oh this crap again" and pushed under the rug for a while. Except now that the white vote is becoming more solidly Republican, Sanders and Clinton know they need something to fire up the black turnout. And here we are.
When David Begley asked "How does a terrible local screw-up become a federal issue?" I thought, until the very last word, he was talking about one of the candidates - the one who didn't have a regular job until he was 40. Other than Bernie not being an "issue", it applies as well to him as to Flint.
"Whites ‘Don’t Know What It’s Like to Be Living in a Ghetto and to Be Poor’"
Yeah, that one had me shouting obscenities back at the radio.
" smart enough to know that when businessman Trump contributes to powerful Democrats he is buying influence and not “funding the architects of Obamacare,” as the senator claims."
The Koch brothers also buy influence. They generally support those things which they support ideologically. Trump could have supported those who opposed Obamacare, and that would also have been buying influence. Why didn't he?
"I regarded Romney as probably the most decent man to run for the presidency in recent times. Even though I wasn’t a fan of his politically I held this view until his attack on Trump, which simultaneously exposed Romney as a hypocrite, a liar, and a treacherous fair weather friend."
Trump has been in the gutter since the beginning of the campaing. THat is a reason to not support him, and if need be you may have to get into the gutter to deal with him.
Kasich never gets in the gutter. How's he doing? Despite the Luntz focus group saying he is the adult in the room, who is getting the votes? Not Kasich.
So then, not getting in the gutter with Trump simply allows him to continue engaging in gutter politics.
Trumpbots seem to have a problem with counter attacks. I also note that many said that Romney didn't take the fight to Obama. That he didn't get in the gutter. He maintained the high road. And it cost him the election.
I adored Romney, but that he expends more energy attacking Republicans than he did Obama makes him unelectable now.
